I came in the last hour of the day on a Wednesday but service was oddly very impersonal. It feels super weird to have someone sit across from you for 40min yet somehow find a way to ignore you? Nail person was more interested in her phone than in doing nails. Just an odd experience. I moved to Montgomery County in March 2020 - yes just at the beginning of COVID. So along with not knowing which grocery store to don a mask and space 6 feet apart in line, I also had no idea of local nail salons. It took 6 months for me to be a) SO over saying "I'm letting my nails breathe" and b) ready to brave a salon. A friend recommended Cindy Nails. I didn't do a drive-by scoping but did see their updated photos on yelp. It looked like a lot of stations but even more plexi-glass and I figured (hoped) they had to follow county capacity limits. I made an appointment and waited. I was nervous and excited. Nail appt day arrived and I was greeted, chose my colors, and assigned as charge to Katie. My shallow breaths gave away my anxiety being indoors but Katie was so kind and kept asking if I was ok. After 15 minutes that went away. Plexi-glass everywhere separating customers and technicians. A dedicated person to walk around disinfecting everything after it is touched. Masks and face shields. Decreased capacity. Appointment only So not only did my nails come out looking great. paint always makes me smile, I walked out feeling comfortable. Thank you!!! I will be back! read more

I am giving 2 stars because my pedicure came out nice but the manicure was horrible. I'd have preferred a liner for the foot tub and see her use a new set of clipping tools (some places purposely open a new set in front of you). But I was a walk-in and just went with it. I was enjoying the massage chair so much that I began falling asleep but as soon as we moved to the mani station, the tech asked if I wanted to pay so I did and I used that opportunity to tip her - $10 / two five dollar bills. I don't know if her service deteriorated because she thought I tipped her less or because I paid there was no need to take her time. She had to remove dipping powder and acrylic tips but they charged for that added service so I think I deserved better attention and care. There are so many more nail salons along Rockville Pike, I won't be returning here again. read more

Mr. Lou and the front staff always provide excellent customer service and are always welcoming and accommodating. She was great too but the best part was all the safety measures they've installed for Covid safety. I cam in for a walk in appointment. They have lots of staff so they got me in quickly but the lady doing my nails wasn't friendly. I showed her my inspo picture which wasn't too complicated. It was French tips and when she started doing them she was asking if they were okay, I said it wasn't what the picture looked like, so I pulled the picture back up and she said they were identical. They were opposite. She was pretty rude because she kept telling me to be still even though I was. In result of that she scratched me multiple times. The nails I wanted were not a complicated design but the lady wanted me in and out so she made it look very rushed and not nice. As well as the nails not looking good the nails were also lumpy and uneven. After a few days of having my nails done I saw the outer parts of my nail starting to loosen up and then a few days after that the dip powder started chipping. In total the nails I spent 100 dollars for lasted exactly a week. I got them done on the 22nd and they came off on the 29th. The other workers in the nail place also didn't seem friendly. The vibe in the salon was weird. I felt like I was being judged and did not like it. I have got my nails done here a few times and never again. Had my second visit today... First visit was nice & fast. Today's visit was the same. Different technician each visit and they were both nice and did a great job on my pedicure. I didn't get their names though. The place looks small from the outside, but it's large with lots of tables and pedicure chairs. No wait, and my friend and I got to sit together. I normally go here for a Brazilian with Jennifer, which I would give 5 starts too. I love her, she is so detailed oriented, efficient and CLEAN you'll never want anyone else. Cindy's has a great selection of nail polish colors and their place is big so walk-in's are always attended to quickly. I walked in today for a manicure and pedicure and I wasn't too impressed with their service. Though they are reasonably priced, quick and efficient; they are a little sloppy with their work. After my pedicure, the lady washed the tub with the same gloves she was about to use on my manicure. I had to say something before she actually started my pedicure. She seemed bothered and unappreciative of my observation, but processed to change her gloves. All in all I don't think I would regularly go back here for mani and pedi, but I will go if I need something done quickly. I will certainly never stop going to Jennifer for my Brazilian though. read more

I will preface this by saying that I typically don't take the time to write reviews, but I think my service today was bad enough that I need to. I was in town for a wedding and had been to Cindy's before with decent service (not stellar but passable). Scheduled an appointment for a gel manicure and regular pedicure the day before without issues. Starting with the pedicure, the technician I had (nametag Wendy) was rough and cut down on the cuticles extremely aggressively - so much so that I started bleeding. I flinched and pulled back, and she didn't even apologize or really take much note, other than to apply meds to stem the flow. I figured- happens sometimes, we continued. She continued to do this such that it happened with another toe as well. This was a similar pattern with the manicure as well. One, I get, but multiple - no. Never happened in any of my experiences with nail treatments. As you can see as well, the paint job is shoddy and just horrible now that I'm looking up close. It hurts to walk. In retrospect, I should have requested someone else/got the manager involved but I was in a time crunch and could not dedicate more time to this than I had already (the whole treatment took an hour and a half!). Just want others to benefit from my experience, and I will definitely not be returning. read more

Terrible customer service and not transparent with the price for services or with the technician providing service--all I asked for was dip powder on acrylic nothing extraordinary. I called and asked specifically for a technician I read good reviews for online and was scheduled to meet with her. I came in 2 minutes after the start of my appointment, explained again the service I requested over the phone and the technician appeared she didn't want to do it after looking At my nails. Either she didn't want to do it or she had an appointment after and could not do mine maybe Bc the soakdown for gel would take too long. Instead of just saying this they moved me all around the salon before putting me with a lady in the back and told me She would do my soakdown and then the technician I booked with would do my requested service. I asked for clarity w/ what was going on and then they told me the lady doing my soakdown will do dip powder as she is the best etc. I got upset Bc just from the struggle she had with the soakdown, I sensed she would struggle with the service I requested. I told them I only want the lady that I scheduled and if she can't I would leave and go elsewhere. The soaker now caught attitude while soaking my hands in accetone for way too long while thinning my nail. I have had soakdown countless times and it never took an hour and was never painful like this. At the end the lady I scheduled came to finish off the soakdown and filed my natural nails square and told me she will do it next time--by this time I already told them I want to pay for the soakdown and go elsewhere. At the end they charged me 10 dollars to damage my natural nail after soaking in acetone for almost an hour and after they already told me during the service that take down is 5 dollars. Brought my girls here (9 & 7) for their first mani-pedis. The salon is big, service was fast, and I like the fact that the pedicure chairs are made for children because my girls felt like they belonged and had a place there, although the massage functions did not work for any of us. $25 plus $5 tip for each daughter to have a mani-pedi and a week later their nails still look super. I also had a pedicure, the massage function on my chair did not work as mentioned above and the nail tech used a file on my cuticles, which left small cuts below my nail bed that have been tender since the visit. My first visit didn't go so well. I asked for the dip manicure and the tech did a HORRIBLE job. I don't think she had much training or experience with the process. The owner could tell I wasn't happy with my service so he explained that my service was free that day. I felt bad about not paying anything because they really wanted to make it right. The owner assured me that this wouldn't happen again if I were to return. Sure enough, he was right! I started visiting Michelle for gel manicures. She takes her time with every step and does a great job. I haven't tried the dip manicure since that incident but wouldn't be against trying someone else there. I will just check with the front desk on who to select for that service. If you're looking for a super fancy nail spa then this isn't the place to go. I've been going for several years and at times the manager was rude but my latest visit was extremely disappointing. They raised their prices yet quality of their services have declined. I asked for an experienced manicurist and when she was cutting too much and I asked, she tells me she's only been in the work for a few months. Very uncomfortable experience getting Brazilian wax from Katie. I have been getting Brazilian waxes for the last 19 years in many cities around the world. This is the first time I felt violated during a wax. Also, she did not wear gloves. I had to tell her to stop waxing me bc of how uncomfortable she made me. I always go to My for waxing. She is so quick and does a great job. She talks to you to get your mind off the pain. She uses a new stick every time she applies the wax and never double dips. I also really like the chocolate wax that they use. I have yet to find somewhere with better prices for waxing and offer as good of a service. There is a good amount of parking spots. I was a little nervous when I first walked in several months ago because this is a really busy shop but let me tell you something...I sit back and observe and everyone is so courteous and professional. Worst place ever! I highly do not recommend coming here! I would come here every 3 weeks for dip nails and this last time they didn't do my nails correctly! After 2 days, 3 of my fingers chipped. I went back to get corrected and explained to them that I thought it was weird when the initial nail tech missed a step and the nail technician agreed but instead of redoing all, she would only fix the chipped nails. She also stated that if anymore chip to come back. Well 3 more chipped in the next day so I went back. Instead of fixing all the remaining , she only fixed 3 nails. So in total only 6 nails were fixed. I told the technician the other are going to chip so she should fix them now, she said if those chip, to just come back again. Well the remaining nails chipped and I went back (3rd time) and they didn't want to fix. She said they already fixed 6 and I would need to pay. I told her it wasn't my fault, that if they were done right the first time I wouldn't have to come back 3 times and they wanted to charge me for fixing them and I was like that's not my fault if you guys would've done them correctly the first time then I wouldn't have to come back. Pam did my pedicure today and it was a very unpleasant experience. She barely touched my legs with the scrub and the lotion for the massage and when I pointed to it to her and requested that she massage my feet with the lotion, she blew up and started screaming at me. At one point she was in my face I thought she was going to hit me. Completely unreal and shocking to say the least. The manager heard the confrontation and did not intervene. I will not go back to this salon. It wasn't my first time there but it was my first service with Pam. The few other times I've been were definitely less dramatic but not the best service. Worst pedicure of my life from a tech named Nancy. If it wasn't for the fact that all my friends had a good experience and the owners reduced the price to a polish change, this review would be a one star. My friends all started about 10 minutes before me, yet somehow I was done 5 min before they were. And by somehow, I mean, Nancy totally skipped the step of filing my nails after cutting them, she totally skipped pushing back and cutting the cuticles, she barely touched my foot with the pumice stone or the exfoliating blue stuff, and she spent the majority of the time feathering on lotion on my legs....the paint was all over the edges of my skin, and yet somehow she also didn't get paint on the sides of my big toe nail. I told the owner, and he apologized and told her to come back to fix it. She came back and told me it was due to the polish I chose (BS), and swiped a dab on the tips of each nail to try to hide the jagged edges that she didn't file down. Yelp loves Cindy Nails and they love Yelp. Sometimes love is not unrequited. This was evident not only by the sticker on the door, but also when I looked up from my People Magazine reading (geez the baby daddy Gosselin guy got really fat lately) and saw Debbie D and Angel W's review in a frame. I don't get my nails done usually but I needed Carnival ready toenails so I opted for a manicure and pedicure for $37. I was suprised by the efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness of this nail salon. The entire wall of OPI and Essie nail polishes to choose from is a little overwhelming but it's nice to have variety! The massage and scrub for the pedicure was incredibly relaxing. After that, your hands and feet are mummified in a hot towel for maximum relaxation. I would highly recommend Natalie for nail services. Not coming back here. One of the technicians was extremely rough with cuticle cutting and filing, that I yelped a few times.. It was like she was in a horrible mood. And I'm usually ok with pain tolerance. ONLY MY PEDICURES HAVE NEVER BEEN PAINFUL. Oh, and I'm whipping out the caps lock because I ended up getting a toe infection inside the side of my nail. Took a week to heal. Should have known from my last visit which was already a big flag after seeing unhygienic practices. I was also displeased that they had me shuffle when they were catering to a big group trying to sit together. I am fine with that, but at least direct me to another technician instead of telling me to get up for someone else, and have me stand there to fend for myself. Came here due to the yelp reviews but I came out of the salon with polish on my fingertips. I walked in at around 4 pm on a Wednesday and it was quite empty for being such a huge salon. No one greeted me and some nice lady came out. "Eyebrows and manicure." "ok, just wait. Let me tie my hair" So I followed her to the eyebrows section and she just started. Didn't ask what I wanted. Other places I've gone to have at least asked if I wanted to keep it natural or have a higher arch. My brows came out thinner than I wanted but that's nothing I guess a brow pencil can't fix. Then she instructed me to go to table 8 out of what seemed like 30 stations for manicures. It was quick. Again no questions asked. I had to tell her I wanted my nails shorted then she started to cut them. The manicure was fine. Nothing special. She was nice, made small talk. Asked where i worked and what ethnicity I was. I just didn't think it was all worth $24. I even gave her a bigger tip when I paid before painting hoping she'd do a good job, but it didn't seem like she cared and once she was done, she went to read her newspaper. Came back to write in her notebook then checked my nails and said you're good to go. Other places would ask if I needed help getting my keys but nope. She was gone. When I looked my fingers, there was polish on my fingertips. No way did I touch my nails. It had to be from her. Perhaps this place gets a lot of good reviews from frequent customers. I noticed the regulars get extra friendly treatment. First name bases or even get a few "honey" or "baby" too. Will I come back? Not based on service... The golden rule if you come to Cindy's Nails is: never ever walk-in and hope for the best (or even decency). If you want to leave satisfied you must make an appointment with a GOOD nail tech whose work you have seen before. Otherwise, be prepared to gamble your time and money. That's exactly what has happened to me my past 3 visits. I have come to Cindy's Nails twice for a gel mani/pedi and once for a full set of acrylics. My most previous experience is what is leading me to write this review because three strikes and you're out. I came in yesterday with an appointment, but without a specified nail tech. They placed me with an older woman. After she prepped my nails, I started to get a bad feeling. She was struggling to put on the acrylic tips, which seemingly is the easiest part of the process. I began to get suspicious based on the fact that it was taking her longer than 15 minutes to put the tips on just one hand. Whereas, every other nail tech I've had my whole life takes the least amount of time on this step during this process. I gave her the benefit of the doubt until things began to get messy. When she was struggling to put on the tips, her glove got stuck to the glue and she ripped it off leaving a piece of glove on my nail. She seamlessly moved onto applying the acrylic powder, not worrying about the fact that it's still on my nail. I called it out because I didn't want just one nail to have a different texture/be uneven due to the piece of latex glove literally sitting on top of it. She didn't respond at all, even after multiple requests for her to change my nail, until I spoke to someone else. Then, probably the worst part for me, was that because it was so difficult for her to put on the tips, she messed up multiple times and had to redo it on multiple fingers. If you've had acrylics you know how much it hurts, how difficult it is, and how damaging it is to take the tips off of your nails. She had to this multiple times to multiple nails inducing so much damage to my nails and taking up a lot more unnecessary time. If I did not call anything out, she would not have done it too which is also concerning. After 1 hour spent just for the nail tech to finally apply the acrylic tips, she rudely pushed me away to go to another nail tech because she was clearly having a hard time. After this entire chaotic debacle, I just decided to remove the tips and take my business elsewhere. This business has definitely shown me the true nature of choosing quality over quantity. The only reason I chose to give them a chance is just for the sole fact that their prices are a bit cheaper compared to other nails salons in the area. Although, 3 strikes and you're out so I will be taking my business elsewhere from here on out. read more
