this place is AWESOME! i adore the sweet japanese woman who owns the store & is so proud of her homemade breads which happen to be delicious.. her husband who also speaks japanese is so friendly as well. hes happy to allow you to take any kind of sake -- which they have a HUGE assortment of. hes quite the sake connoisseur. they have a great selection of japanese candies & goodies. they have tons of pocky -- types ive never seen before which include a chocolate and 'fromage' variety (chocolate & cheese). they carry pocari sweat which is a hard drink to come by, but i happen to love it. pocari sweat has an odd name, but its an ion supply drink similar to gatoraid. this store is definitely worth stopping in. its probably my favorite asian store in jacksonville solely because the people who own it are EXTREMELY lovable. read more

Great little Japanese grocer. Staff is really friendly and helpful. So are the other customers. We stocked up on panko, potato starch and kombu. So if you are going to make some Japanese food at home this is the place to go. read more

This place is so cute, not many asian markets to really pick from here in jacksonville...but this place is just cute. They have a wide selection of sake and a good selection of japanese items. I'm originally from hawaii so I'm always looking for asian stores that remind me of back home. The owner is so friendly and welcoming, we actually came here because my husband was looking for Georgia coffee which is something you can only get in japan and thought they might have it. Unfortunately they didn't have it but recommended J coffee, it tasted nothing like it. I would definitely go back! read more

I had gotten used to having a Mitsuwa just a few minutes away, and was worried that I wouldn't find anywhere that I could one-stop-shop for Japanese groceries and snacks. I'm not worried about that anymore! This store packs a great deal of variety into a small space, and I've started referring to it as "pocket Mitsuwa" since it has all of my favorites and then some, from Gettin' Cool to Golden Curry. Found this place by accident and was so glad I did. The owner was super sweet and I was happy to find a yogurt drink(similar to Yakult) that I've been looking all over every Asian food store I know for right there. I didn't stay long enough to really explore what else they had but they had one of my favorite rice brands there and some strawberry flavored Pocky sticks my husband loves. I'll definitely be going back there to see what else they have. read more

What a great experience ! Small little shop. Not as much stuff as I wanted to be but enough to get by basic needs and small sweets that I could never get at any other asian groceries. There were old used magazine and books and VHS. Many choices of good quality sake. The owner make this little homemade red beans buns that its amazing. There were so many little things that I want to buy them all! What makes it so special is she was super friendly! I will definitely support her little business so it stays open forever! read more

I'm so glad that this store exists. It's a tiny store, but it's jam packed with a plethora of Japanese goods. If you're trying out a new recipe and it calls for some specialty spices, this is the place to go. I have been scouring the grocery stores for some Mirin (Japanese cooking wine) and regular matcha green tea powder (no, I was not using both in the same recipe, lol) and finally found those ingredients here. They don't sell any fresh produce, but they sell anything from noodles, teas, snacks, frozen sushi-grade fish, other frozen goods like filled buns, miso paste, instant noodles, spices, bottled drinks, sake, and rice. They also sell Japanese bread that's freshly baked everyday. I have yet been able to try these as they seem to sell out quickly before noon and with my work schedule I haven't been able to make it to the store any earlier. I've made it my mission to taste these elusive breads and will definitely be back. read more

Overall, it's a very nice little sweet Japanese store. The service is great. The store decorations are very special and detailed. I really like the Japanese snacks, tea and desserts in store. Green tea flavored cheesecake is my fav. But there are not as many selections as I imagined. I wish they have more kinds of Japanese chocolates. read more

Came in to see if they had a specific beer my buddy and I were looking for. Upon entering, we're hit with that oh so familiar Japanese shop scent. Its peaceful and calming. The shop was spotless and the young Japanese woman at the front was beyond polite and optimistic. We spoke a bit about Japan and purchased our items. She saw us out with a smile and a wave. We visit this store regularly to stock up on Japanese snacks and ingredients.If you want to experience a slice of Japan this is the pla ce to go. They have a lot of pantry staples that you can't find in regular grocery stores. When the shop owner is there she makes anpan(sweet red bean paste buns) from scratch and they are delicious. They also have one of the best selections of imported sake (nihonshu). I highly recommend the Tomio Genshu Junmai ( the rich and revered sage). It's a dry sake and it's very smooth! read more
