I'm a foodie. I send pics of my bland-tasting guacamole that needs "zazz" and homemade chips to the 'gram with a caption of: "farm to table avocado". Ashley replies, "is it vegan? and do they have gender-neutral bathrooms?" This is my first intro to foodie-food, where more time is spent discussing the mouth-feel and sourcing of the ingredients than understanding that guacamole is better with Jalapeño, onion and tomato. Salt might help. Now I understand why. No complimentary chips and salsa. What else is there to do? Our tacos started out excellent, but as we made our way through them, it became clear they were lacking meat and the sauce (Mongolian beef, picnic chicken, chicken biscuit, Thai shrimp) was funky. Not bad, just funky. Didn't sit well. Most foodies regard meat same as the dreaded GMO, so I imagine the lack of protein won't be a concern. However, I just now switched Circo-A Taco from 2-stars to three since I remembered the margarita. Fresh. No triple sec. Yum. I'd pass on the tiny little jug of margarita though for the price; I expected a half carafe or milk jug size! Foodies and Craft Beer Snobs share the same place in my heart: having never had Hamm's Beer or Old Milwaukee in college, White Castle sliders, or truly great hangover food, their need to post pics of their Circo-A Taco experience far outweighs what they're about to eat. read more

Decided to check this place out for happy hour with two friends. We shared everything. Really did not enjoy all the disposable containers. Plastic cups and compostable containers are not the way of the future! I cannot get on board with this. Tot-chos pretty good, especially the queso on top. The happy hour special was just a half priced half order of the regular order though. Guacamole and salsa required an order of chips. The happy hour chips and salsa only came with a half portion of chips, so it wasn't really a deal. I want to leave 4 stars, however on principal, but I don't think you should charge for chips, especially during happy hour, to be competitive with the rest of Sarasota. Drinks were a good deal. Walked in a week or so after they opened. It was a decent looking place inside and parking was super easy with a free garage directly across the street above Whole Foods. I ordered 3 tacos, which is a decent meal and comes in around $11 before drinks or appetizers. These tacos came out loaded with fresh ingredients and absolutely jam packed with flavor. I was so impressed I went back 2 more times in the followIng week. The Thai shrimp, Mongolian beef, Korean pork, and chicken and biscuit tacos are perfect medleys of flavor. The food comes out fast and hot, and the quality was consistent over my last few visits. I 100% recommend Circo for lunch or dinner. My only critiques are with the wait staff and desert. While they've been nothing but friendly, and I know they're still working out the kinks after a new restaurant opening, some of the wait staff seems a little inexperienced and make you feel a little rushed by bringing out the check half way through the meal without asking if you want another drink or more food. As far as desert goes, they offer churros and in my opinion they're not good at all because of this bad tasting caramel filling they have inside. To sum it up, Circo offers awesome tacos that can't be beat, great tasting drinks and a nice atmosphere. I will certainly be back. read more

Great tacos and margaritas! Came here for Taco Tuesday and was not disappointed. The kitchen is able to accommodate lettuce wraps instead of flour tortillas for no extra charge. Unique "mexican" restaurant. They have some really fun taco combos that are not traditional in any sense but still really good! There margs are decent I suggest going during happy hour! Sadly, the manager was so uncaring this evening. The ventilation was so awful. Most members in our party were crying. The rancid oil being used for cooking made our eyes feel like our eyes were on fire. Even though we moved tables the manager never bothered to check on us. He also did not even offer a discount on our bill. We paid a tip, only because we did not want the waiter punished for something for which he is not responsible. This place is a health hazard!! And it is right below an assisted living apartment complex. I have been fortunate to have dined all over the world, and I have never experienced anything where I walked out of the restaurant in pain. Seat yourself upon entering. The music is so loud we had to shout our orders to the waiter. Not large party friendly we had to sit in the corner where it was so dark we had to use our phones to see the menu. Very overrated. Ordered a house margarita. Overly sweet and lacking alcohol but fairly priced. Ordered two tacos and a street corn. Street corn's cob was partially covered by a husk so there was no seasoning in that area and it was downright cold. One taco was actually a carnitas tostada. The tostada shell was tasty and crispy, but one again the toppings were cold and the carnitas were ground and disappeared under the toppings. The last taco had grilled fish in a flour tortilla. Once again cold and the tortilla seemed out of a bag and was pale white and tasteless. The weird thing about everything being cold was that as each item was placed in the window, it was immediately brought to me. It's not like they were sitting there waiting for the server to bring it over and yet they were cold. The place was nice though, the server attentive, and the music enjoyable. read more
