I love a great Italian bakery and Circo's is the real deal! Their cannoli are perfect and filled on the spot so they will never be soggy. While I only tried the cannoli I'm excited to return and try their Italian cookies, biscotti, Holy Cannoli donut or any of the other delicious pastries. They also make homemade cakes, custom for different occasions. It's an old fashioned bakery, open and in business since 1945. I called about 9am for a birthday cake to be delivered in Bushwick and it got there about an hour later... with the personalized inscription on the cake! My daughter LOVED the canoli filling!! The only thing was that I chose a later afternoon delivery in the drop down menu. Postmates went 5 hours earlier so I was thankful my daughter was home to receive the cake. She was excited it got there earlier and had a piece for breakfast ! I was leery about ordering a cake by mail, especially having it delivered to another state. The cookies were great, unfortunately, the service from UPS was terrible. the driver, for whatever reason, couldn't understand the address label. the label on the box and on your email was perfect. i had to call customer service and ended up speaking to a woman in India and then to a local UPS woman. I received them late and they were partially melted by the Texas extreme heat. i put the boxes in the refrigerator and they came back to life. the cookies were great, but I wouldn't order again until the weather coos down. How is this place still open?! In the middle of Bushwick, you have this old school Italian bakery. The shop is well kept inside, and has some serious stuff. They make a giant cannoli, and even had fried struffoli for the holidays (nowadays its usually baked), as well as all the typical stuff you'd find at a great Italian bakery. I got an order of sesamee cookies, anisette toasts, a small sfogiliatele, and tried a rainbow cookie and a regular cookie. The rainbow cookie had too much jelly, but otherwise was great. The regular cookie in particular was great, with a good proportion of sugar of ricotta added. I liked the anisette toasts a lot, although the sesamee cookies were a bit too bready. The sfogliatele didn't last long, and was great as well. I only got a little bit of stuff (by my standards) this time, and while I still have my regular bakery that I go to, next time I'm not able to make it out there I might come here instead. Typically, I need to visit a few times, before I feel or sense the greatness. However, I was only here once, and I felt the greatness right away. Circo's is definitely an old school bakery, and you do not see as many old school bakeries anymore. I came here because of the glowing reviews. Considering that this bakery has been in the area for over 60 years, I was expecting to see more reviews. I went in in the late afternoon, and there was a lot of people in and out. I ordered a few different traditional items, (mini canolli, tri color/rainbow cookie and sfogliatelle). Everything was really fresh. The canolli was my favorite item of the three, and I was never too crazy about canolli's to begin with. The canolli's were better than Fortuanda's (Williamsburg). I can say, that this was the best canolli, I ever had. I do agree with another reviewer about the rainbow cookies, they were good, but there is too much jelly for my taste. I like my sfogliatelle crispy, and they crispy and fresh. They have a check in offer, but my phone was not working, so I missed out on the Italian butter cookies. If you live in the area, this should be your go to place for Italian pastries. I f you do not live in the area, it is worth a trip. It's not too deep into Bushwick, anyway. You walk in to this relic and wonder how this shop lasted all these years, it is a beautiful throwback to another era with it's mint green walls and the usual Brooklyn style Italian pastries and cakes, It was a hot day & I was sent In the wrong direction from the waitress at Fritzls(hipster alert) so I walked in hoping for Italian ices like I grew up with- homemade and refreshing.
