They have this super cool tap bar where you get to pull the beer you want & however much you want! For the games, they have a bunch of retro ones such as Pac-man, pinball machines, DDR, etc. They also have basketball, mini bowling, and ski ball! All games/ machines range from 25 cents to $1. Wonderful addition to Granby street, Norfolk! There will be a line once you walk in, that is because you have to "check-in". The long process is getting checked in because you have to get a card that is linked to your credit card so you can eat, drink and play. After you get checked in though you are able to do anything and everything. It's pretty much self-service, there's a variety of beer taps you can choose from where you just grab a glass, tap your card and pour however much beer you want. The same goes for the food. There are locations where you can just pick what you want to eat from a tablet. If you need help, no worries there are lots of staff around to help you if you get stuck or confused on what to do. Lots of games to choose from - arcade, basketball, skeeball even mini bowling and more. This place has lots of space and I love how it's big and open. If you just wanna sit down and chill, there is also a lounge area with couches and chairs. You could spend hours here playing different games or just hanging out with friends. This place is okay. I had a good time. When you arrive you get a game card that is linked to your credit card. You can place any dollar amount on the game card for the machine games (most games are $1 or less, the majority are less). All the games are included except for the mini bowling in the back, you have to pay for that separately and that's $5 per person. Downside to this place is they do not sell liquor. I wish they did, but I drink beer too. They have a large wall with a variety of different beers. There are different types of cups on the side that you use for self service. To pour the beer, you have to place your game card inside this slot then use the handle, but PLEASE BE CAREFUL. You will easily spend $15 on a glass of beer. They also had a few wine and sangria options which were good but again be careful, it add up quick! They have a few food order station (I think I saw 2). Again you place your game card on top of this sensor and order the food. I had wings and fries, and my friend had pizza. The food options are pretty basic, but the good was good in my opinion. I saw a few children there, and it seemed to be kid friendly for the most part; however, more adults came out and it may not be the best for younger kids after 9pm. After you finish playing and you're ready to go, you go back to the counter and close your game card and they charge you for what you spent. Don't have too much fun it's easy to spend $50+ here by yourself. If you do not use all the money on the card that you put for games, thats okay! This place is one of the reasons I love visiting Downtown Norfolk. Unlike Pixels, which has older arcade games, this place has a good variety of both arcade classics like Pac-Man and Galaga as well as modern arcade games like Halo: Fireteam Raven, Dance Dance Revolution and Crusin' Blast. Games are cheap per play with most older games being 25 cents to newer games being 1.00. They even have a Newcade machine with SNES/Genesis games like Mortal Kombat 2 and Street Fighter 2 that is 2.00, however it is a "play all you want" machine. Besides arcade games, they also have a duckpin bowling alley in the back of the store that is a separate price from the arcade games. While not as big as a regular bowling alley, it brings more variety to Circuit's wonderful array of things to do. Overall, the draw of the place is the beer selection. The beer, as well as the games, use a prepaid card that can be loaded at the front desk, which takes both cash and card, and loads the value on to a card which can be used to pay for everything. The selection of beer rotates from time to time and always has new beers as well as typical selections like Bud Light, Corona, Yuengling, etc. Only reason I can't give five stars is for the food. Its not as good as other places in the area, but certain selections on their menu are good, such as the giant pretzel. read more

My friend and I stumbled upon this place last night. It's pretty cool! Like a Dave & Buster's in Norfolk, but much cheaper! There's lots of classic arcade games, first-person shooters, mini-bowling, etc. And they also have a kitchen serving up bar food like wings, fries, and also desserts like churros and funnel cake. There's a cool station that you can pour your own beers with over 20 varieties of beers on tap. For those of you who don't know how to properly pour a glass of beer (like myself), there's a step-by-step pictorial that shows you how! There's a few benches and lounge areas for you to chill and enjoy your food and drinks. We came here as a group not knowing what this place was about. This is a fairly new establishment in Norfolk downtown. The place is pretty big, warehouse-type arcade/restaurant. As you enter, you can sign-up for a reloadable card, where you can put certain cash value for arcade games and separate amount for beer. The arcade games range from $0.25 a turn to $1 a turn. There is a huge wall of beer taps with prices that range from $0.35/oz to less than $1/oz. You can insert your reloadable card and pour your own variety of beer as much as you want. That's great! We tried the self-serve chicken tacos that come with a tray of tortillas, shredded chicken and all the toppings. There was 6 in our group and we all had a blast. I felt like a kid again. :) Great place for families, group of friends, date night and even large parties like office parties. Every game from Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and QBert to Skee Ball, Duck Pin Bowling, basketball, Pin Ball, X-Men, NBA Jam, Halo and Time Crisis. Literally something for everyone. You get a reloadable card so most of the machines don't take money. It's $.25 to $1 for the games. And all the draft beer you want. Everything just goes on your card. If the name Circuit Social sounds familiar to you it's because the original location was in Richmond, VA and now this is their second location. This location in Norfolk is extremely dangerous for me as it is within walking distance of where I work... I came here for a happy hour/get together after work for one of my co workers and this was the best place to meet up. If you've never been to a "bar-cade" before it's essentially a more hipster version of D&B and with self pouring beers on tap and old school games from the 80s and 90s. Some of the games include: 4 person pacman, basketball, pinball machines, mini bowling, air hockey, skee ball, house of dead 2, etc. Since we came about an hour after they opened on a Thursday afternoon, the place was still fairly empty so we were able to play all the games we wanted without having to wait. The staff was very friendly and even offered to pour us extra beer if we had too much foam after our initial try. I placed an order for some pretzels, tenders, and loaded curly fries. The chicken tenders here were very soft and tender and lightly fried I enjoyed them the most. There were plenty of spaces to sit down and eat or just play games. I can see this place getting very busy on a weekend though so make sure to come early. The best place for parking is at Macarthur Mall and walking over. read more

When it was time to checkout I paid for my drinks with the debit card I had on file from earlier. my tab was only about $21 but they held $60 on the card for a couple days which eventually fell off. I love this place so much. It became my new watering hole when I was in Norfolk. They have a pretty good selection of beer and some for wine too. Think of it as dave and busters without the annoying kids. Perfect place for a date. If you take a lady here fellas, you will have a successful date! I wish I knew that earlier. I loveeeee coming here!! I visited the original location in Richmond several times prior to this location. I was beyond excited that they were finally opening their second location in Norfolk that I visited a couple days after their grand opening. I've had nothing but great experiences every time I've been. I tend to mainly go on week nights, since the place is way less packed. Less crowds and lines which is better. Their system is different than the Richmond location. Rather than coins, they give you a reloadable card. I obtained a free membership card on my first visit because I knew I'd be returning quite often. When adding money on your card, it is divided in 2 sections: game credits and food/drink credit. They have a large variety of classic nostalgic games and some newer games. They range from Dig Dug, Super Mario, Street Fighter, Time Crises to Halo, Beer Pong, and DDR. There is seriously something for everyone! I grew up playing a lot of arcade and video games, so this place allows me to once again enjoy my favorite games. It's always fun coming here with a group of friends of compete with. My friends and I love playing the 4 player Pac-Man. During one of our visits, one of the employees, BJ, saw how much we were enjoying the game, that he even gave us more free credits so we could keep playing!! How nice!! I also really love the pour your own beer wall. They have a large selection of beers and wines which constantly rotates. It's great being able to serve yourself as well as trying everything. The beer is charged per ounce but I don't find it too pricey. I have not encountered any issues with it. I think it's a really cool concept! The only minor issue that I have encountered here is that there are always several games out of order. It's bumming when you look forward to a particular game and it isn't working. Circuit Social is a great destination for a group of adults and families alike. It's a large venue, but on a crowded weekend, you may have to wait to play some of the popular games, including Mario Kart, Guitar Hero, Skee-Ball and DDR. There are self-serve taps meaning you'll never have to wait for a bartender to get your drinks. Although I will say that I have a tendency to spend more money this way. Compared to other family game emporiums, Circuit Social is much cheaper, however you can't redeem tickets for prizes. My only negative experience at Circuit Social was their New Year's Eve event. I would not recommend attending one of their events that require a paid ticket until they work out some of their kinks. I still have not heard from management about my concerns. read more

There's a mini bowling, but our group was turned off by it. Fun for kids or just fun if you want to give mini bowling a try. You pour your own drinks, but be careful on pouring beer to avoid the immense foam. The pricing is by ounce, and you can just sample drinks or fill your glasses. Seats are available but if you want to eat here, it could be a wait for a table. The food appears to be a casual fast dining of ordering and picking up food at a counter! Super convenient too. Our group shared a margherita flatbread, churro fries, single-serving of the pretzel w/ a larger cup of beer cheese & smaller cup of mustard, and loaded curly fries. I've never been to the Circuit in Richmond, so I was excited to give this new local outpost a try. We went on a Friday night around 8pm. It's a big place with enough space that everyone can move around without feeling claustrophobic. I've been to several arcade bars before that left me feeling anxious from being packed in too tightly, and I loved that I could actually conserve a modicum of personal space here. Likewise, they have a large selection of games so there was always something available to play. They had the usual classics (skeeball, pinball, air hockey), plus a few fun extras (skee-bowling, DDR!). The playing/food card is a nice concept and helped keep things moving. I do prefer the card as opposed to tokens because I don't have to worry about keeping track of extras for next time. The staff was friendly and helpful the whole time, from walking us through the process the moment we arrived to assisting us whenever a beer tap or a game was out of order. The self-serve beer taps are fun but a little tricky. You pay by the ounce but a lot of the taps were pouring foamy and for anyone who isn't used to pouring from taps, you can end up spending more than you wanted trying to get a decent pour. We'll probably split our time between here and Pixels. Both have their strengths and weaknesses -- but it's so nice to have options so close to home. I've been looking forward to this barcade opening ever since I saw an ad for it run across my Instagram timeline. Granted there is Pixel's in the area as well but the selection there is pretty barren when compared to here. Too bad that ended up not amounting to much when friends and I went here Saturday night. A vast majority of the cabinets here have definitely not been maintained properly over the years. Half of them look like they are in need of gutting and proper cleaning (clumps of dirt and dust between the screen etc). 1P on the Time Crisis machine had very shoddy accuracy as compared to 2P, the joystick for Galaga drops inputs seemingly at random, the down arrow for DDR Extreme on 1P experiences pad sticking (100% sure the sensors have never been replaced); you get the idea. As one of the main draws for the place to begin with, having properly maintained machines should be paramount rather than an afterthought from what I've experienced with these cabinets. Air circulation definitely is an area of improvement as well. Right as I walked in, I could feel the mugginess of the air inside hit me right in the face. Wasn't expecting the place to be super cold or anything but with the amount of bodies moving around during a super packed Saturday night, the A/C should be adjusted accordingly. Not really a fan of beer but the one or two drinks that I did have were pretty solid. Staff were pretty helpful as well. All in all if you're coming here explicitly for the arcade games and are fine with leaving your expectations of a perfect game-play experience at the door, Circuit Social does an almost OK job of giving you something to enjoy. read more

At first glance it's appealing but it's more hype than it's worth. It's not the most efficient bar/arcade I've been to. We waited in line for about 25 min to get our game card which was annoying. In this day and age you should have an app or kiosks to speed up the process. Everything is run through your game card including food and drink. You have the option of prepaying for your food OR they put a $40 hold on your card until the end of the night. You are forced to prepay for games and without being our first time we weren't sure how much to put. There were no signs or indication of how the cash translated to game value. (Major annoyance). Additionally beer is charged by the OZ which is smart business wise but the main reason I refused to order it. It comes to about $0.78/Oz according to google maps, so you figure a 12 Oz glass will run you about $9, that same glass is really worth $6-7 anywhere else possibly cheaper! Now picture a wall of self serve taps where you can grab a glass and go to work until that tab comes lol! The food selection is your basic bar food so nothing special. They have bowling and a decent game selection but it's not as fun as I anticipated and being newer the staff lack efficient flow. I gave it 2 stars based on the cleanliness, the long waits for game cards/food. The space is huge and packed with tons of retro/old school arcade games. My boyfriend and I personally love just how many pinball machines they have and the fact that all the games are between $.25 and $1, so if you were to load your card with $20, you're set for at least 2 hours! Not to mention, the self-serve beer, wine, and cider tap is something you have to take advantage of. The variety of drinks they have available is amazing and so cheap! Also, not too many children go here (unless their parents bring them) which I LOVE because it caters more towards adult crowds. So if you want to play games for hours without being interrupted by kids running around, this place is for you. The staff are so helpful and the overall vibe of the place is laid back and fun. What an amazing night! Love that you can pour your own beer and I Love Love Love the old arcade games. Took me back to when I was younger growing up in Hawaii and my mom used yo work at the bowling alley. I would play these arcade games while she worked. You guys gotta check this place out! read more
