It may not seem like much but this pizza shop is well worth checking out. How can you turn down waiting only 90 seconds for your pizza to cook?! - you can't. In just 90 seconds, the pizza of your choice will cook to perfect for you to eat just as fast as it took to cook. Walking into this shop I was impressed with how fast the staff was able to take my order, spark up conversation and cook my pizza. Within a blind of an eye I was in and out of there. I got a standard pepperoni pizza and the little Italy. Both pizzas in my opinion has the right amount if sauce and the perfect amount of toppings. The sauce was not too sweet or over powering. As soon as I walked in the door, I let out a big, happy sigh of relief. It was immediately warm and cozy from the heat of the pizza oven. I felt at home. A great refuge from the cold to hang out at before heading over to the Beachland ballroom for a show. A local beer was in my hand in no time and the Cacio E Pepe pizza was ordered. Mozz, Pecorino, Stracciatella, garlic & black pepper. The dough and crust and everything about it was amazing! Mamma Mia! We ordered a Collinwood pie next and damn, son! Mozz, salami, It sausage, Cali olive, fresh green chilies and red onion all baked to perfection. The staff was cool, the bathrooms were clean, the ambiance was great, complete with a neat soundtrack. My husband and I have been here now a handful of times and we cannot get enough of Citizen Pie! We love the location on waterloo because it is so tiny and quaint and feels so cozy. Although most people do takeout and don't actually sit down and eat here, it is worth to do so. We love the sitting area and how comfortable it is, but yet so simple. Okay so now to the food. Hands down, the best pizza we have ever had. Yes, you read that right. Not just in Cleveland but it even beat the pizza we had in Italy! It is so incredibly fresh and the ingredients are unbelievable. They're homemade dough that is made fresh every day is melt in your mouth with it being so soft but with a little crisp around the edges. The sauce, no matter if it is white or red, it packed with flavor that I want it in a jar, and all the toppings are cut perfectly, such as the onions being the exact thinness needed and the spinach cut to the perfect size so you get a little in each bite. I loved Citizen Pie! I've been on a hunt for good thin crust pizza in Cleveland, and I was not disappointed. When it is hot and fresh out of the oven, you gotta finish it quick. The crust is chewy, but light and not your usual crust. I usually don't eat the crust of pizza because I'd rather have more slices, but this crust was airy and chewy. However, once you let this pie sit for awhile, the juices from the meat or veggies overwhelm the crust and make it more chewy. I love the crisp airiness of thin crust pizza, and you'll lose it quickly if you don't consume quickly! We tried Little Italy and Mushroom. The mushroom was amazing, I thought the flavors were brought together so well. I was concerned about the price being a bit on the higher side ($15-16), but well shared with two other girlfriends. We finished the 2 pizzas and were satisfied, not hungry at all! It's also super fast, and you can see the pizzas being made in front of you! We sat at a location facing the oven, and it was cool to watch the staff rotate the pizza. If you like Dewey's, try Citizen's! They don't have as many non-traditional flavors, but sometimes less is more and I loved the simplicity. read more

This is a true wood fired, stone oven pizza. Crust is outstanding. Crushed tomatoes sauce, more than enough cheese and toppings. They have a great lunch special. The owner and all their staff are friendly, helpful, with a welcoming smile. This is a tiny place on Waterloo with a good selection of alcohol and non alcoholic beverages. Wow! Nice little place, close to Lake Erie. Pizza crust is on point! Nice air bubbles and crispy crust on the bottom. Packed full of flavor with each bite. I went back to Citizen Pie at the invitation of one of the owners who reached out to me to discuss what they do. I appreciate people who take pride in what they do so I felt I had to give them another chance. So I headed over to the Collinwood neighborhood which is the next area in Cleveland that is on the upswing. No problem with parking during the day, but I'm sure it can be a bit harder when there are events at the Beachland Ballroom. Went with the Margarita pie again, although this time I added on the mushroom slices and I have to say that my experience was near perfect. Where the first time I admired the individual quality ingredients they never seemed to come together; this time the pie was perfectly cooked and the result was amazing. With any pizza you want the crust, sauce and cheese to come together to make a whole that is greater then the sum of its parts and that is exactly what happened. When you get this alchemy your taste buds sing. This time the crust was tasty all the way across; with the center still a bit saggy, but that was explained to me as part of the style. The sauce had just the right level of sweetness to set off the saltiness of the cheese and the meaty flavor of the portobello slices. With pizza such as this the secret is the simplicity of using high quality ingredients and letting the true flavors come through. If you are looking for some high quality Neapolitan Pizza you have to check out Citizen Pie; it is the type of place that you will have strong feelings about one way or the other. read more

This place is fucking delicious. Authentic neopolitan pizzas in a wood fired oven. The cacio e Pepe is a must try. Light airy crust but with the perfect amount of crispy. I usually like extra crispy but apparently that isn't an option here. Didn't matter for the white pizza. The little Italy had more toppings, and I think could have benefited from having a crispier bottom. Do yourself a favor and eat a slice as soon as they make it. Sitting in a cardboard box for 20 mins really degrades the quality of any pizza. read more

My boyfriend got a pizza with anchovies and they were impressive-looking, although not my thing. The crust is thin, fluffy, and tasty and none of the ingredients overshadowed the other. The wait time is not long at all (5-15 minutes). I got distracted waiting in the car and they even brought the pizza out to me!
