Whenever I'm in Orange, I walk past this restaurant. Once, on a Saturday, when I was thinking about trying this place out, the hostess asked if I had a reservation. Reservation? No. No meant no table. She told me it would be a couple hour wait when I could see there were tables available. I made a reservation this Sunday. Unfortunately, buffet brunch only. I could see the chafing dishes from outside, but decided to dine here anyway. There was a family sitting outside on the patio, but since it was warm outside, when the hostess asked inside or outside, I said inside. The waitress told me about the $59/person Sunday brunch. No espresso drinks, but it includes bottomless mimosas. Champaign with orange, pineapple, cranberry juice, or all three. Yes, all three please. Eggs are custom made orders by request. The brunch buffet had great options. It included, pancakes, waffles, French toast, crepes, pasta, potatoes, cod, chicken, meats, salads, pizza, fruit, yogurt, various breads, crème brûlée, and mini chocolates. My mimosa was perfect, since I poured my side juices in myself. The food all tasted great. My complaint is the eggs. I ordered two fried eggs. I had to remind her of the order because I believe the kitchen forgot my eggs. She made an excuse that they were busy. I don't think so, since I could see the three of them from my table. When I received them, they were hot and fresh, but the worst fried egg I've ever had. Ugly and runny. A fried egg should be the easiest thing to prepare. Disappointing. The entire time I was here, there were at most five parties. One was a large group celebrating a birthday. Not crowded on Sundays. No reservation required. I only had two separate plates of food and a plate of desserts. Unless you eat or drink a lot, the price of the buffet brunch is not worth it. In summary, service was good. My champagne glass was never empty. Excluding the eggs, all the food tasted great. I like the overall look of the restaurant. The Sunday buffet brunch is not my first choice. read more

Citrus City Grill is located on Glassell St. If you know this area, it is surrounded by tons of other restaurants. There's really a lot of restaurants very close to one another. What Citrus City Grille offers is their own take on Americana. The food here is overall pretty good. Little to be proclaimed. It simply is what it is. The one thing I will say about this restaurant is that you should really make a reservation before you try to go here. The first few times I tried to go to this restaurant, I walked up and they asked me if I had a reservation? When my answer was no, they told me that they were very busy and I would have to wait a long time. This, even though there were open tables. I believe this is a practice that turns customers away. I know it made me choose not to eat at this restaurant for a long time before I finally tried it out. The main focus of this review is going to be about their Sunday Brunch. In this case, reservations are not necessary. This, even though I did make a reservation before I attended, basically because I forgot the fact that Citrus City Grille even had a Sunday Brunch. During their Sunday Brunch, they have very few customers. I can imagine this practice is not going to last all that long, because they're probably not making any money. Because normally, on a weekend morning, they're fairly packed. On Sunday Brunch, however, there's very few takers. In terms of the brunch, what they offer is a buffet style meal. Personally, I'm not a fan of the buffets. I really don't like to have other people's hands all over the food I'm gonna eat. The second is, I feel like I'm forced to eat too much to get my money's worth. But, as I forgot it was going on, since I was there, I decided to try it out. The way the brunch works is that the server comes to the table and asked what kind of eggs you would like. Your egg dish is then prepared in the back. Then, they ask you what kind of drinks you would like. If you enjoy mimosas, or bloody Mary's, then this brunch is for you. Because they offer them bottomless. Meaning, you can drink one after the other, with no additional charge. Speaking of charge, the overall price for this Sunday brunch is currently $58.99. That seems like a fair enough price. Though, it is considerably higher than say it would cost you just to eat breakfast there on Saturday or during the week. In terms of what they offer from their buffet, they have a wide variety of things to choose from. For me, they have a wide selection of steamed vegetables, nicely cooked potatoes, and things like well-prepared cod. Of course, they also offer things like bacon, bacon, wraps, waffles, various other meat dishes, chicken, and a good selection of a lot of things. So, you'll definitely get a full belly if you eat their Sunday Brunch. In terms of service, the server was super nice. No complaints there. I will say, however, that my wife ordered some fried eggs. I had to remind the server to bring them to her because, for some reason, she kept forgetting to bring her the eggs she ordered. My other complaint is that I do not believe that I have ever eaten, or tried to eat, more poorly prepared poached egg than I had at this restaurant. I mean, I don't even know what they did. It was just like a big bowel of goop. They weren't even completely cooked, and they were just very-very bad. This was the case with the fried eggs my wife ordered, as well. They were very runny, more like a over easy egg than a fried egg. Overall, this restaurant has a few flaws, but if you're by the Orange Circle, this may be a place for you to grab a meal. Manifested the PERFECT parking spot directly across from Citrus City Grille so honestly the night started with a Mother's Day miracle. Started with the mezcal old fashioned and she was the real MVP of the evening. Smoky, smooth, delicious. I ordered the butter leaf salad -- light, fresh, tasty. Youngest ordered the brisket but wasn't vibing with the sauce. Oldest had the chicken which he described as "burned and gummy," but growing boys don't let details like that stop them from eating. We shared the crème brûlée which was less "crackly perfection" and more "creme broolay soup," but technically still edible. Disappointing overall as usually this spot is one of my favorites with consistently good food and generous portions at reasonable prices but not that day. Maybe the special Mother's Day menu was the issue. But at the end of the day, my favorite part was spending time with my sons... and the parking spot. Mostly the sons. read more

Stopped by for breakfast today, so this review is going to be focused on that. I can appreciate Citrus City trying to offer breakfast/brunch, but they're still rough around the edges IMHO. Citrus City is located in Old Town Orange off Glassell, it's a very beautiful restaurant with a ton of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was all friendly, however they were a bit short staffed so getting help for things took more time than I'd like (it was certainly not for a lack of trying from anyone). On the food front, I got the avocado toast with over easy eggs, and some bacon and eggs. Sadly the eggs were all overcooked/oily, and the potatoes were undercooked. The bacon also didn't seem very fresh, as it tasted a bit stale. I was going to order coffee as well, but they were completely out of milk alternatives so I passed. Overall, the meal was pretty mediocre and felt like a 2.5/5 meal, but I am rounding up because the staff was pleasant and the restaurant had a cool vibe. I want to come back for dinner, but would probably skip their breakfast/brunch until they're in a better place. read more

Stellar experience all around here! This place has it all, incredible service, inviting atmosphere, nice ambiance, and most importantly -- delicious food. Ava helped me out today and was very friendly and attentive. I sat inside and it was such a cool vibe. The interior is very open and there's plenty of seating, also a bar with a few TVs. There's also an outside dining area which I've eaten at before and it's so nice to chill and people-watch on sunny days. I ordered the Wild King salmon today and it was BOMB!!! The presentation deserves bonus points, and the flavor in this dish truly packed a punch. There was a nice sear on the outside, while the rest of the fish was perfectly flaky and tender. The roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach were a great compliment to the fish and the pesto sauce tied everything together by adding immense flavor to the dish. I loved every single bite and they practically had to stop me from licking the plate clean. Highly recommend you try this dish when you go!! First time here with friends and I would gladly return. I had the CCG Burger and fries ($22) and they were great. The burger was sizeable. Happening upon here was a happy accident. We happened to be in the area from picking up an item in Santa Ana and then Yelped another restaurant and tried to eat there. It was wonderful! They were decked out for Valentine's Day. And we got to enjoy the pretty roses and balloons for it. The lighting was really dim but I imagine it was for Vday festivities. I had to brighten the pics of the menus because they were so dark without using a flash. Our server, Joy, was appropriately named. She was a delight! We ordered a Caesar salad, ribeye, and short rib. The ribeye was unfortunately pretty chewy. The short rib was truly phenomenal! It was extremely tender and just downright delicious! The Caesar salad was fresh and excellent quality. For the kids, we ordered them a grilled cheese with a side of fruit and an adult cheese pizza. The grilled cheese was what l would expect and my kiddo ate around half. Also expected. The side of fruit contained grapes, strawberries and apples. Which is a truly welcome change from the sliced melon and pineapple we usually see. It was fresh and l even ordered another order of it... The adult pizza had some flavor my son didn't like and after eating two bites, I agreed. I couldn't have eaten it either. I said it was an herb-y like taste but not rosemary and also reminded me of soap. It happened to be cinnamon, which I actually really dislike. So that tracked. I will say, my son has food allergies and I am thankful that cinnamon isn't among them but l also knew a dear former coworker who was severely allergic to cinnamon so I feel this unexpected addition to a pizza should be written on the menu. Just for transparency. I have food allergies all throughout my family but this never would be something I would think would be in pizza sauce. So I hope the owners do see this and make sure it's added in the menu somewhere. Joy was kind enough to take it off the bill since my son and I literally only ate maybe 3-4 bites of it We did order a dessert--chocolate soufflé and it was so fun to eat. I haven't eaten soufflé in years. Usually only really expensive steakhouses have them so it was super fun to find them here (that isn't a knock to this restaurant, it's a compliment to have quality food for fair prices, we don't eat often at the expensive steak places because honestly we cook better steaks at home). So especially for Valentine's Day, a soufflé was the absolute perfect dream to end our meal. It was fabulous. We ate it all. I hope next time we come the sticky toffee pudding is on the menu. Citrus City Grille is a great restaurant in downtown Orange. It is very large and even has a covered patio. I came on a Saturday, but it looks like Monday - Friday they have $15 lunch specials! Since it was on the regular menu, we asked if we were still able to get any of the specials (thinking maybe it was just a price difference). Our very kind server informed us that there were only 3 items there they'd be able to make. We asked if they could still do the BLT. He thought so, but needed to ask the chef. He came back and said they were unable to make it at all. We thought that was so strange, because they have a club sandwich on the menu that has all the same ingredients but just turkey and cheese added and 1 extra slice of bread. So, we asked if we could get the club and remove the turkey. So, it was basically a BLT! I'm not sure if there was some kind of mis communication or what that was all about. Our food was pretty good, but some of the bacon was nearly raw. The shoestring fries were an A++ though. Id go back just for them! Had a lovely "goodbye" dinner with my roommate after she moved out. We had talked about trying this place, and we are so happy we did! The atmosphere was very classy and felt high class even though we were dressed more casual. We shared a few appetizers including the bacon wrapped figs and calamari. My wife and I visited The Citrus Girl this evening expecting a positive dining experience, but were disappointed. Our server, Ava, was excellent; however, the kitchen fell short. My husband's meatloaf arrived with insufficient gravy, leaving half of it dry. By the time additional gravy was brought, the meal was already cold took kitchen 15 minutes to get gravy. When we asked to speak with a manager, Vinny, the General Manager, interrupted my husband with "calm down, sir," despite him remaining composed. Although Vinny offered to remake the dish, we were ready to leave. He did remove the meal from the bill, which we appreciated. The waitress was a mid aged blonde lady I didn't catch her name because I barely seen her. She had an attitude from the beginning and after my mom and I were seated it took her 20 min to come over to take our order and even then she forgot to bring water and bread. We pretty much served ourselves and asked the bus boy and other waiters to help us. The food we ordered was rib ravioli which was recommended by her and was 4 -5 small pieces soaked in too much sauce almost like a soup. I give it a 5 out of 10 on flavor and my mom's gnocchi was not good at all no flavor. Never coming back here even the soda was flat. Only tasty thing is the bread with sauce. There's a wall of Lies in the back of the restaurant in the form of multiple awards and plaques, all of which I do not trust for the following reasons: 1. I think our server forgot we existed after being seated in the corner of the patio...we watched them seat another party that arrived after us, and their drinks arrived before we had the chance to order anything. 2. Server also took 20 minutes to bring out a beer. At the 15 minute mark, they came back after a few minutes profusely apologizing and saying that they'd "check on the beer." As a former service worker, I know that's code for "oh shoot I forgot to put that in," but saying that you'll check on a beer bottle to see if it's ready or not is BONKERS. 3. At first I was excited for the free focaccia and dipping sauce, but why that bread was so spongey? And why did the dip taste like a very acidic balsamic vinaigrette salad dressing? 4. The wildest part about the "wild ahi poke" was the fact that there was no sauce on the poke. Just straight up dry diced tuna, unless you count the thin lines of sriracha around the border of the dish. And those wonton chips were stale af. 5. My partner ordered the braised short ribs. You'd think that for $33, you'd taste more than the bare minimum. However, there were 2 VERY questionable choices. Using whole uncut strips of chives as a garnish was definitely a choice. But the wildest part of that dish were the onion SKINS. Not grilled, not caramelized. Just straight up SKIN placed on top of the meat. The dish was small, but even my partner didn't want to finish it. 6. And now, for the award winning carbonara pasta for the most non-carbonara pasta I've ever had in my life. For reference, if you look up ANY carbonara sauce recipe, all it takes is 5 ingredients: pasta water, eggs, parmesan, salt and pepper. This place managed to omit all 5 items, and took the cheap cheat route of making a cream based sauced (which no longer makes it a true carbonara). ***Want proof? I have lactose intolerance, and I can eat a true carbonara without suffering because there is usually no dairy (quality Parmesan has no lactose). The fact that I got that familiar awful stomach pain after eating that creamy fake carbonara should be enough proof for you. 7. This "carbonara" was simply noodles in a creamy soup with undercooked bacon, big ahh peas, and $13 worth of 4 overcooked jumbo shrimp. The menu LIED by explicitly stating there was roasted pancetta, but it was hastily chopped pieces of bacon instead. 8. There wasn't a SPECK of pepper in that sauce. I had to ask for salt and pepper, and the server also offered parmesan and red pepper flakes. I thought the Parmesan was gonna be grated Olive Garden style, especially for a dish that costs MORE than most pastas at Olive Garden. But I'm pretty sure they got their "parmesan" cheese from Cisco because those shredded pieces were so thick and tasted NOTHING like cheese-- instead it tasted like starchy play doh. And I swear they emptied the Costco Pizza packets of red pepper flakes and put them into a jar. 9. This "carbonara" was proof that restaurants like this will cut corners and take cheap shortcuts and then think they can get away with it by charging $10 more than what the dish is actually worth. Whatever I ate that night was definitely not carbonara. Honestly, if this place wasn't as pricey as it was, I'd be okay with the fact that I paid a cheap price for mid food. But when that check came out to $113 for 3 dishes, we were so sad. Don't fall for the fancy looking ambiance. It was a cheap place trying to cosplay as a bougie restaurant. Customer Service: Great customer service! The hostess is right out front, so we walked up and was helped right away. We informed her that we were just popping in for a quick bit at the bar and she welcomed us in. Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which is one of the most important aspects to a great dining experience! Parking: Parking on a Friday (and I imagine the weekend) can be quite tough on the street, especially because of all the permit0only parking. This is a really cute area to explore with interesting little shops, so it's quite popular. Good news is, there's parking in the back (there's a lot where you don't need to pay and then a lot where you do). This is pretty normal for places like this. Pricing: Prices are expected for a nice restaurant, especially in the area, it's very reasonable. Most items are in the $20-$25 price range, with items both below and above this price. They do also have Happy Hour, though I didn't explore the menu too much since we were only there for a short time. Food & Drinks: Food, absolutely delicious. They make it so fast and it tastes perfect. Best calamari I've probably ever had - just the right about of crispy and softness (for me, I'm not a super crunchy person). Ahi Tuna Poke was super fresh. He was very accommodating about us not being drinkers, so he made us both an alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink; I really appreciated that! Atmosphere: It was very chill when we came in. Nice sit-down restaurant vibes, but very relaxed and a good place to go out with friends and/or family. I think it was a big enough space that it would also be great for groups. As I mentioned, we sat at the bar, which seems like what everyone else was opting for to do as well lol. It was pretty fun! This restaurant is located in Old Town Tustin. In terms of parking, there are street parking available right in front of the restaurant. If you don't mind a 8min walk, you can also park at the West Public Parking Structure for free. I went to this restaurant as part of an event so I didn't take many photos. But the restaurant and the location is beautiful. Situated amongst vintage shops and coffee shops, the area looks like something straight out of a Hallmark movie. Wait staff were very nice, restaurant was clean, and food was great! I got the sea bass risotto and it was delicious. They have a selection of wine but you will need to ask if you want any nonalcoholic drinks. I saw some ppl get a variety of pizza and pasta dishes and it all looked amazing. I had a rare Sunday off so my family and I decided to go to Citrus City Grille's infamous AYCE Sunday Brunch. We actually found this unique and delicious restaurant from a trending Tik Tok video! Our waitress we had was actually in the video! Which made it an even more fun experience! All the food looked so good on video, so we decided to give this place a try! This place was very nicely decorated, organized, and the food smelled delicious! We were greeted by host and were seated in our table in a jif. With our empty stomachs growling, we cracked our hands, unbuckled our belts, and walked to our tables excitedly! Breakfast was on the left tables and lunch on the right side tables. They had a plethora of mouthwatering options - from Belgium waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, savory toppings, eggs, shrimp salad to prime rib, chicken, pastas, desserts, and more! Now the more part - You can also order omelets, all types of benedicts, mimosas, and bloody marys from the menu as part of the brunch buffet... We both got mimosas and this is one of the places that paid attention to your flutes and made sure it's never empty! We absolutely loved that! The food was absolutely delicious and of such superb quality. It's restaurant quality food that made us all forget that we are at a brunch buffet. The once seemed hefty $49 /person price tag suddenly seemed very reasonable after our amazing brunch experience! After an hour of full monty gluttony sins, I unbuttoned the lower half of my shirt to let my belly breathe. Thank goodness I was wearing a loose fitting shirt or else my shirt buttons would have popped off. The staff all around provided exceptional service, and exchanged genuine conversations! Such a cute place to have brunch!!!! Especially if you're already at the circle. We sat outside and brought our pup and it was the perfect time. We got the poke and burrata and both were so yummy! Would def love to try more things on their menu and hit up happy hour or come for dinner. The inside is also really cute and our servers were all so sweet. All in all, this place is a gem! read more

Citrus City Grill is fantastic. The food, the ambiance and the service is consistently great. My faves are the Caesar salad w grilled salmon, and the sea bass. Maybe come for their regular service, but we went to their Easter Brunch today. We were a large party of 15 with a reservation. Our reservation was early and one of the first tables. The first thing they told us as we got sat down was that we only had 90 mins to eat. We got sat down and there was no waiter to greet us or anything for probably around 10 mins. Some of our party went ahead to join the food line for the buffet. The set up for the buffet was a bit chaotic and the line curved in the small hallway by the back near the restrooms. There was one table of breakfast foods and salad/ cold foods. There was another table by the bar with the carving station, hot brunch items, and desserts. The lines kept meeting in the middle. The plates were only by the back near the breakfast items. Egg dishes had to be ordered through your server.The two times I went to the breakfast line there were no crepes or pancakes. I never saw them put them out and their spots on the buffet remained empty. They had waffles and french toast though. We finally got our drinks mainly juice, water, and coffee. Some of the table ordered their egg dishes. After awhile scrambled eggs came out, but two of our eggs Benedict orders got sent to another table. The english muffin was not toasted and it was tough to eat. All the food in general was just okay. Overall, the service seemed short staffed and unprepared for a buffet service. read more

We had an excellent group.lunch st Citrus City Grille! I have been here several times and always impressed with the food and service. Have a large group can be a hit or miss! Food and service was excellent! We came after a group visit to The Hilbert Museum.of California Art. It was very easy working with Deanna. We were able to do everything by email including selecting a limited menu to offer to our guests. The offerings were perfect and not one complaint (this group of women is tough to please!). Drink orders were taken right after we sat down. Attentive service to take more drink orders or refill our non-alcoholic beverages. Food orders came out all close together, pleasantly surprised! This place was recommended for Sunday brunch and looking at social media pushed us to check this place out. The Sunday brunch food was ok. The service was impeccable , our server was so attentive and such a joy to have. The buffet has a few things that were pretty tasty, like the carving stations, and the bacon was crispy. There were no egg dishes , but you can order some for an extra fee. Overall, was a bit pricier for what you get, and if you go with 6 or more people they will add 20% gratuity automatically. For 5 adults, and 2 kids and few drinks was $500. read more
