You can tell when someone is just "doing the job" versus actually caring about the customer experience, and Vanessa absolutely cared. She stayed on top of everything without ever making us feel rushed, had a great attitude the entire time, and made the whole meal feel smooth and enjoyable. Last night Saturday 4/4/26 my friend texted me if I wanted to meet up for dinner and that it was my turn to pick. I replied yes and had this chinese place in mind. However, the wait time was like 30 minutes and then Keno's popped in my mind. I always wanted to visit Keno's because it's one of the few places that serves Prime Rib nightly and my friend loves Prime Rib. We get there a little past seven and were warmly greeted by the hostess. I didn't know there are two sections to the restaurant. To the left is the cafe and to the right is the lounge. Cafe side is their diner style room similar to a Norms landscape. The lounge has live music, a bar, describe as a Vegas lounge. We took a seat on the Cafe side was approached by our server Sarah. Sarah was a young woman who got us situated with the menus and asked if we had any questions. My friend ordered Steve's cut Prime Rib 20z with regular french fries and comes with veggies. I chose the lamb chops with steak cut fries and it comes with carrots and asparagus. While we waited for our food we ordered a bottle of their house cabernet wine which was delicious don't recall the winery. The food came out promptly and Sarah came by and politely made sure we were all settled. My friend and I split our plates so we each got prime rib and lamb chops to try for dinner. Everything was made perfectly especially the Lamb. It was nice and tender and flavored really well. My friend loved the sauce it was dipped in. The veggie sides and fries complimented the meat. While working her section Sarah made sure we were taken care off. Towards the end of the meal we made some small talk with Sarah and asked for future recommendations since we would be returning. She highly recommends the breakfast, mexican food, and their fried chicken which is their Tuesday Special. And when it comes to dessert their Strawberry Shortcake which we would have to come back for since we were really full from dinner. My friend told me coming here was a good call. So I've made my point, but I have a suggestion to try to improve things , actually a two part suggestion: First, print up a bunch of simple 3 x 5 cards (3 x 5 so they're not just a small slip of paper and a card because it has weight and texture) On this card write a note to the customer stating that the food they receive should be absolutely the best, in both quality and flavour, and if they receive a to-go order that is not they should be calling you or going on YELP and putting a complaint in -- and then sign your name so you own it!! That is a great credibility move and I know how passionate you are your restaurant. It's time to get past these underlings that are just not doing the job but still getting the paycheck. Secondly, at least for the near future, you don't have to announce it publicly but you can keep it privately, have a manager inspect every to go order on their shift and sign the back of that 3 x 5 card I was talking above, "inspected by" and LEGIBLY print his name so we know who he / she is. When you place ownership on the rest of the management team to get the product out the door correctly, the attention to detail and the emphasis on quality can't help but roll downhill!!! So I have been to the sister keno's which shares ancestry & name only . We chose to eat in the bar which is Amazing! The step down seating around the fireplace the high back booths the wood paneling . I ordered the fish & chips my mother had the fried chicken dinner. Both include soup or salad . We ordered the zucchini as an appetizer. The app arrived they prepare the zucchini cut like fries.crispy on the outside . Tender but not mushy inside. The chicken was delicious as was the fish. Wound up here totally by accident, but so happy we did! Fun old school place, probably not for everyone, but exactly the kind of place I love! This may be my favorite diner in Anaheim. It's a very large American comfort food diner that specializes in breakfast and lunch. We stopped in for our first time for breakfast and had a great meal. Inside is very large with many different types of seating from booths to counter to table and is divided into many different areas. Even though it was very crowded, we did not have to wait at all to be seated for a party of two. There is a very large free parking lot attached so there were plenty of spaces available when we arrived. Our server was really polite and everything that we ordered arrived shortly after ordering it. The menu is very large and has a lot of great options on it. It took me a while to decide what I wanted, but I chose one of the specials for the day. I went with the Short Rib Eggs Benedict and thought it was really great. There were some fatty pieces that I had to cut off and did not want to eat, but aside from that it had some great flavors and instead of having the English muffin on the bottom, the base was hashbrowns, which was an interesting version of the traditional Benedict. Overall, I really liked it and I would recommend ordering it if available. We had a great breakfast and I already want to come back again to try more items so I would recommend to anyone in or passing through Anaheim. read more

On our first visit, we enjoyed the California Omelet with Pancakes and the Blackened Salmon, both dishes exceeded our expectations. First time visiting this place w/ my boyfriend and first time ever leaving a proper review at any place! Leo served us today--his service went above and beyond!! We were seated right away and given the option to sit at a typical dining area or a more cozy, fancy, and relaxing booth spot for watching sports and keeping an eye on lottery winners on tv. We chose the latter and it was such a great experience, BECAUSE of Leo's service and another worker whose name we didn't get to learn as he was always on the move and working hard (table bussing). Shout out to the whole team! The buffalo wings were pretty good and were served with lots of sauce and ranch. Compared to other places and with the state of our economy atm, I'll def be going back to this place even if just for the wings! $20 for 2 lbs of wings!! (Please don't increase the price ) The hot coffee wasn't as strong as I was hoping, but it was perfect to enjoy with jam on toast Ham w/ scrambled eggs and the hash browns w/ ketchup is a typical good classic meal :) Can't go wrong with it. My boyfriend said that he wished he didn't ask for onions since he doesn't prefer a lot, but if you like a lot, then the smash burger is perfect for you! Fries were (at least for this plate) better than In-N-Out fries. He'd rate it a 7/10. Leo was so very attentive, kind, generous, professional, and on-top of everything! Literally the best service we've ever received at a sit-down restaurant actually :(( He constantly checked to ensure that our waters were refilled, gave us extra plates for our appetizer, always vocalized what he'd be helping us with, offerred to give me a refill on my coffee, swapped out the coffee creamers for a variety one instead of just half&half, asked if we needed a copy of the receipt, AND even brought a spoon and scooped the leftover ranch on ceramic into a to-go cup--(EVERYTHING) WITHOUT us needing to ask It was also getting pretty busy inside, yet he managed everything extremely well. I have to give this meal four stars because of the value. It's a half a chicken with sides and soup or salad for 12 bucks on Tuesdays. And the fried chicken is good. My favorite was the mashed potatoes which had their own garlic butter flavor, even without the country gravy on top. I liked the salad too. The dressing seemed like it was made in the house and the lettuce was very fresh. The service was beyond expectations, but I think we just got lucky with our server. You can eat in the dining room or the lounge and that night it seemed like the lounge was more popular. I recommend this particular meal on this particular night. read more

We've been going to Keno Restaurant regularly for happy hour, usually twice a week, because we really enjoy their happy hour menu -- especially the wings and margaritas. Unfortunately, one employee has completely changed our experience: the bartender/server Arturo. The first time Arturo served us, he already had an attitude from the start. Whenever we asked questions, he either ignored us or walked away without acknowledging us. We mentioned that a friend would be joining us later, and immediately he reminded us about the "2-hour limit" for seating at the bar. When I asked what time we had arrived, he simply said he didn't know. We even tried joking with him to lighten the mood, saying things like, "Are you kicking us out already, Arturo?" Instead of responding professionally, he told us that many people stay too long ordering only happy hour food and "cheap" drinks. Honestly, it made us feel stereotyped and judged, especially since we noticed he was smiling and friendly with other customers while constantly monitoring us. We're Asian, and the treatment felt noticeably different. The entire time, even while we continued ordering more food and drinks within the 2-hour period, he kept reminding us about the time limit. We still had nearly an hour left every time he brought it up. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. We returned again yesterday hoping maybe the first experience was just a bad day. We were extra friendly and tried to joke around with him again, but unfortunately nothing changed. Same rude attitude, same constant reminders about the 2-hour limit the moment we ordered another round of drinks. To make things worse, when we asked to split the bill, he rudely told us to "circle what you had" on the receipt. That would have been fine if the items weren't all grouped together like "6 margaritas," "2 pretzels," "2 wings," etc. We ended up just splitting the bill evenly to make things easier for him. Later, while reviewing the receipt, we also noticed that some happy hour items were charged at full price. We've sat in the bar area many times before with other servers and never once experienced this kind of treatment or constant reminders about the time limit. Arturo seriously needs customer service training and should learn not to stereotype customers. We love the food and atmosphere at Keno, but experiences like this make us not want to return. read more

For as many years as I have driven past Keno's Restaurant, I never really considered eating here always thinking it was your typical Mom & Pop coffee shop that was popular with the area locals. Recently I saw a social media posting about Keno's Lounge which harkened back to the days of the old school steak houses back in the day and that still exist in some of your largest metropolitan cities (Las Vegas, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, etc.). But what intrigued me the most was Keno's Tomahawk Steak for two at a reasonable price. I told my wife and she was excited to Keno's too. Since we were interested in trying a Tomahawk entree as well as their prime rib entree, I was unsure if the restaurant had separate menus, one for the coffee shop side and one for the lounge, since many Yelp postings indicated that they ordered their Tomahawks in the lounge area. I was very impressed with the attentiveness and speed with the response I received from the owner of Keno's, Steve C. just minutes after I posted my question on Keno's Yelp profile Q&A asking if there are separate menus for the lounge and restaurant. Steve graciously responded by indicating that "we offer all menus in both the lounge and coffee shop, including our full bar menu!" Well, that response sealed our decision for our Pre-Mother's Day & Pre-Birthday dinner celebration! My wife, youngest son and I stopped by on the Saturday night before Mother's Day around 1700 hours. The parking lot is spacious and it was already half full. We went in and were immediately greeted by young male host who advised us that the if we ordered the Tomahawk and Prime Rib in the coffee shop area, our entrees may be served quicker than in the lounge, which I observed walking in, was quite busy already. BTW, the lounge is literally to the right of the cash register area, past the CA Lottery machines. Our friendly host showed us to our booth which was spacious and comfortable. The coffee shop dining area was starting to fill up as well. Within minutes, our server, Taylor G., arrived at our booth and took out drink order first, then returned to take our orders. We ordered: 1-Tomahawk Steak (32 oz.) for two $79.99; 1-Steve's Cut Prime Rib of Beef (20 oz.) $42.99 2-Caesar Salads (shown on receipt as one Dinner Salad $7.99) 3-Soft Drinks $11.07 Pre-tip Total with Tax: $153.05 Our two Caesar salads arrived. Honestly not the best. Not very cold, a little too light on the dressing that lacked any real Caesar type flavor profile. We don't like to waste food, but it was difficult to finish. The main attractions soon were served. A beautiful looking Tomahawk steak sizzling away on cast serving platter placed on a wooden cutting/serving board with two beautiful oven baked potatoes accompanied by some of the best grilled veggies (broccolini and baby carrots) we have ever tasted in a restaurant! The Tomahawk was cooked to our medium rare request, with just the right amount of salt. It was more than enough for two fairly hungry adults (think 2-16 oz. steaks). For the price at Keno's it was a tasty, affordable Tomahawk. Yes, there are much better prime cuts out there, but your price point will be a lot higher too. The grilled veggies were awesome! Wish we had more on our serving board. We were too stuffed to eat our baked potatoes but they came with whipped butter, sour cream and chopped green onions for toppings. Our son tried to devour his 20 oz. prime rib, also presented as requested medium rare. It was a very nice looking piece of beef, with all the same grilled veggies and a baked potato also. Our son normally doesn't eat the fat on prime rib anywhere, but for some reason, Keno's prime rib cut enticed him to do so. At first time patrons of Keno's, we were all very impressed with the menu selections offered, the attentive and friendly service from the entire Keno's staff we interacted with and the really great tasting food at a reasonable price. We will definitely be returning to try other tempting entrees on all of their menus! read more

With a sign big enough to see from the freeway, my family and I decided to give this place a try. The restaurant itself gave an old vegas vibe and we were seated within 8 minutes. Our server Renee was super helpful as she navigated us through their big menu and even though the brunch time cutoff already had been passed, she went ahead and went the extra mile to let us still order what we wanted(the loco moco). The food came within 20 minutes of ordering The wings were sauced to perfection! Renee let us mix and match wings so we got to try 2 sauces, both of which were very good. The chicken tender plate was a solid classic and the much anticipated Loco Moco was surprisingly very good! I didnt expect much given this wasn't a Hawaiian restaurant but I was thrilled to say that it was pretty good! For dessert, we were recommended the chocolate cake and most importantly, their butter cake. Let me tell you, this butter cake was out of this world! I didn't even realize I had finished it until I was scraping at the crumbs. Overall, the food was great and having Renee as our server was a real treat! We waited about 30-45 minutes to be seated. The food was okay. Not bad but nothing memorable. I am sure that there are other options that we will try next time we visit. Fernando was our server. He was a bit unfriendly when we first arrived but he warmed up and was overall good. All of the staff were helpful and pleasant. The lounge area is where we sat so we could experience the entertainment provided by Douglas Roegiers. The booths are beautiful and comfortable. The decor was appropriate. I lunched here a few days ago as it is near the Nixon library. It's located in a standalone building with plenty of parking available. Inside there are two halves to the building. One side looked like a casual diner suitable for breakfast or lunch and the other side looked like a night club with a bar for nice dinners and socializing. It was kind of snazzy looking and where I sat. I ordered the Keno's Famous Fried Chicken entree for $17. I chose a cup of soup for the side dish and the meal came with mashed potatoes and green beans too. For 1/2 fried chicken the price was very reasonable. First to arrive was a cup of the soup of the day which was chicken gumbo. A good tasting broth and big chunks of chicken made this gumbo enjoyable. I liked it. About 15 minutes later the entree arrived. 4 pieces of fried chicken was more than I really wanted but I still wanted to taste this chicken and it tasted pretty good. The battered chicken was tasty, juicy and flavorful. For being from California this chicken was close to real southern fried chicken in both looks and taste. The mashed potatoes and green beans were good too. Factoring in the price made this a 4 score meal for me. Table service was good too. My husband and I shared appetizers and an entree salad. We had the crab cakes, spinach dip, chicken quesadilla, and Chinese chicken salad.
