My husband started taking his truck here after a friend of his recommended it to him. I frequently questioned why he kept needing to bring back his truck after JUST getting it fixed!!! For some reason, as soon as something was repaired, another ghost ailment to the truck revealed itself! I began to question this shop...a lot! I wondered if we were getting swindled for repairs or in actuality, is the life of an American car just the shits after some years? The money that was being poured into our truck was faaaaaaaar more than what the truck was worth (in my opinion). Now, here comes my Acura TL spitting out symptoms of repair needs badly soon after I made my very last payment on it! Sheesh!!! I gave in and drove my car into the shop. I asked for Lou and introduced myself as dudes wife. I can honestly say that I had NEVER taken my car in for any major work since I bought it. Lou said he would drive it around and give my husband a call....I was nervous as hell! I knew it was going to cost me some change $$$. $2,000 later I got my car back after one day and she is running like brand new! I know that is A LOT of change $$$ but we are talking wheel bearings on both sides, a timing belt, a water pump and then my major tune up!!! I assume those are all major components to ensure a safe drive in any vehicle. Moral of the story is, Lou and them dudes up in City Auto Tech shole is expensive but they definitely keep you running them streets like a champ! I will do my best to keep up the maintenance on my car, Moët from here on out to avoid taking out a line of credit to get her repaired but I will say that I am pleased with the work that Lou at City Auto Tech has done for her and all of the other cars that we have brought into them! In May my car got problems from electric systems. I towed my car to City Auto Tech, the Owner worked first thing he charged $190.00 to checkout what wrong. He got my phone number but he didn't call me, the next day he called me to pick up my car. Things he didn't know electric but total he charged me $400.00 and told me to go to Toyota Dealer ship to work more. I recommend do not go to the shop. read more

I would not recommend you take your car to City Auto Tech for repairs. I took my car to this shop in June 2021 with report of overheating and coolant reservoir empty. The mechanic who worked on my car name is Mel. I do not believe Mel is an honest mechanic with good workmanship, honest work ethic, or integrity. In June He stated my water pump needed to be replaced and did the job. I also asked that my oil be changed. About 3 weeks after the work was done by Mel, my check engine light came on and my car engine shut off completely while I was sitting idle at a stop sign, that had never happened before. The car shut off three times on three different occasions. I did not feel comfortable taking my car back to City Auto Tech, so I drove it to my family mechanic hundreds of miles away. My family mechanic informed me that an air intake hose was left loose. He also informed me that an after market part: camshaft actuator solenoid, was replaced in my car which I was not informed of. It seems that the solenoid could have been damaged by Mel when he replaced the water pump. Mel at City Auto Tech was the only mechanic who worked on my car other than my family mechanic and I had previously had original OEM part when my family mechanic worked on my car in January 2021. I went to City Auto Tech in August 2021 to talk to the owner Lou and explained the after market part placed in my car and showed It to him and asked him to explain how he thinks this happened and to also talk to his mechanic Mel. Lou was of no help, and stated that if the part was not listed on their invoice from June 2021, then they did not put it there and he stated he doesn't know who put it there and stated his shop wouldn't replace it for free. Lou was not willing to hold his mechanic accountable as it is possible that Mel damaged the original OEM solenoid and tried to cover up his mistake by not listing it on invoice or telling me as the owner of the car. When Lou asked Mel with me present, Mel didn't have much to say and ended up walking away to work on other cars. City Auto Tech is not a trustworthy auto shop and they do not have good workmanship or integrity. I, as a customer who had to pay them $818 and then have issues with my car after their job was done, do not feel valued and I feel screwed over by them. I do not feel they are fair and they do not do a good job. My family mechanic also informed me that Mel at City Auto Tech did not put the right oil in my car when he did the oil change. All of his errors were identified and felt as I drove the car and I had to pay another $1,000 for my car to actually get fixed the right way. City Auto Tech is no good, and I wish I never took my car to them. They wasted my time, took my money, and made damages to my car. I would not recommend any of their mechanics work on your car. I will not go to City Auto Tech again. read more

The Philippine like mechanic was lazy on my oil change. He didn't even bother check my tire preasure and make sure all fluid is full because I ask and I know he didn't check because I stood next to my car the whole time he changed it. Also its like they don't even have the TOOLs to lift my car to change oil. He had to lay under my car and fix it, if I knew this, I would of change my mind, a lift for certain car don't make sence. The other car before me was lifted. But that's not all, why I realize HE Didn't even Reset my Engine oil light. He also refuse to Help me, I ask Him is there oil leak and there is a Smell. You know this fool told me, he said well you should know you do regular maintence. I was like wanted to tell him , I don't understand, IM a GIRL! Why would he Speak to me that way? I asked this Fool, How much is regular tune up with just Spark Plug change and this fool tells me Price that was double then other Auto Shop because I called around. DON'T BRING YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM! My Hyundai Vera Cruz had a battery leakage problem so the battery would not hold a charge. Not only did City Auto Tech fail to fix the problem, they destroyed my electrical system so that many things did not work -- headlights, turn signals, wipers, dimmer switch. I had to take the car to a Hyundai dealer to get it fixed, and they said the prior repair was botched and explained how it was mis-wired. It cost me over $2000 to fix the damage caused by City Auto Tech, but City Auto Tech refused to take any responsibility! I would award zero stars if I could! read more

I brought my car here for oil change which $20 CASH only. i also let them do the brakes for $90. before giving them my car s nuts all intact. they also tell me my car need lower control arm n other stuff which added up to over $700 excluded from brakes replacement n oil change. i said no i will just do the oil change n brakes. oh i did bring my car 6 month ago for brakes n they told me both front n rear need replacement but i told them only replace the rear n 6 month from now they told me different story. today they told me the front brakes are still very good. i m like.Wtf. n ask them is the oil change done n they told me yes. n the total is $30 . $10 for inspection the brakes so i said ok if i replace the front brakes than the $10 will be waived. back to the nut cap. Danny said auto zone has it for $5 for the new nut with cap. i took off n go to auto zone bought it n i call him and said you broke the nut cap so you need to compensated $5 he said NO he willno pay for it even they make over hundreds of dollar of you. i m so fuxking piss. u remove the nuts n u lost the cap of the nut n will not admit fault. I brought my old car in to City Auto Tech to diagnose an electrical problem. They had the car for a few days and were able to isolate the problem, the radio, for which they disabled the fuse. Fine. As I was leaving the shop after picking up the keys, they told me the front driver's side window didn't work, which was strange because I had just replaced the regulator myself. Anyway, when I got in the car I realized that both front windows didn't work. I suggested that it was weird that both windows went out at the same time, and asked if it could be a fuse issue related to the radio. They said no (without checking the fusebox, which they had been working in to find the radio issue) and that I should check the regulator or motor first. Not an quick and easy job, as those who have done it know. Anyway, I went home and rearranged the fuse box, which City Auto Tech had left in a very disorganized state, and got both windows to work. Okay, everyone makes mistakes. But when I called the guy about his sloppy work, he told me the window wasn't working when I brought the car in (it was) and he didn't appreciate that I was "accusing" him of doing bad work. Anyway, I can forgive the inattention to detail and shoddy work ethic, but not the reaction I got when I brought it to their attention. This place sucks...you've been warned! read more

I have been going here for years. But just recently my keys were left in car and was stolen from CITY AUTO TECH. Their insurance company had POOR customer service. The cameras on property was not working. And now they are refusing to pay for things that were taken. Thank God I have FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE. Car was taken here for a repair. I did not know what was wrong with the car, so I took it here for them to diagnose the car and fix it. After quickly diagnosing the car they said the problem was related to the error codes that were being displayed. They proceeded to replace all those parts without actually checking if they were defective or not. After paying 1000, I went to pick up the car and realized the dash had the same error codes, and that their fixes did nothing. They did not agree to refund me or fix the issue and said: "I agreed to those repairs"??? I'm not a repairman so I don't know what is wrong with the car that is why i brought it here. read more

I went here because my mechanic was on vacation and I needed brakes. They told me new rotors in the back and quoted me 500 bucks, I told them i didn't have that and I'd pass and come get the car. (if I'm going to spend that I'm giving it to a mechanic I trust) Fine so far, I went to get the car and it's parked all half on the curb and unlocked, ok whatever. I drove it home and it seemed worse but I parked it and waited for my mechanic to get back. When he did he told me it had NO brake pads at all and that he didn't even see how they could've got like that! The calipers were shot from driving it with no brake pads. Don't go here! read more

Nobody knows how to run a car into the ground quite like i do. I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire, and unless my car wont start or is on fire, i generally wont take it in to a shop for anything other than an oil change... Come to think of it, i need one of those too actually. But i digress.. My brakes were singing me sweet songs for who knows how long because i drive with the windows up and the ipod blasting. Once i noticed them trying to alert me, it wasnt long before little squeaks went to grinding metal on metal... And i swear to god i had a moment where i was coming down a hill, and i heard the brake pads actually FALL OFF. Swear to god. Took it into city auto tech and they said only once had they seen brakes actually fall off before..a few hourslater i was out the door with brakes that stopped my car! Smog tech was friendly but incompetent and nervous about working on my wifes Subaru Impreza. After a wasted hour of my time wasted he claimed he did not work on "performance cars like Ferarris and diesels" because he was unfamiliar with them. After I witnessed him investigate the air conditioning hard plumbing (for a Smog test?!) I knew I was better off taking my business elsewhere. I went to this dealership for a repair involving a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. My vehicle was having issues, and I took it to them to have it repaired. They told me the problem with the car was the throttle body, spark plugs, and coil plugs, and that it would be ~$1300 to repair. I agreed to this, and they proceeded with the repair when I came back to pick up the vehicle I noticed that all the error codes were still on the dashboard. After showing them the error codes on the dash, they told me to leave the car overnight for them to figure out what was going on. They were not able to figure out what was going on, and told me to take it to a Volkswagen dealership (they didn't refund me anything). I had to have the car towed to the Volkswagen Dealership (Serramonte location) because the car stopped working while I was driving it. I took it to the Volkswagen dealership, and after a few days and $600, they told me the real issue with the vehicle was the Engine Control Module, and that the mechanic I took it to previously should not have done any of the repairs they did, and incorrectly diagnosed the issue. The Volkswagen dealership said I should receive a refund because of their incompetence in diagnosing the vehicle. I wanted to give the mechanic a second chance to undo their mistakes. So, I had the car towed back to the previous mechanic, and they did not refund me anything and proceeded to want to charge me for the new repairs that were required. I have been out of a car for almost a month now. read more

I recently took my vehicle for a small body repair and my sense of trust in these guys was put to the test. I was right, the results were phenomenal. They exceeded all my expectations. My car was finished before the estimated time. They also perfectly matched the original color to my Honda CRV EXL.
