Our family decided to order City Barbecue on Father's Day for pick-up. Our order pick up was at 6:45. After waiting 30 minutes in a twenty car line, we tried calling the store. The store's phone number directed us to a call center where they tried to contact the store and got no response. They were not able to help us get a refund or even get in contact with the store. I've heard good things about City BBQ, I came in and got a vegetable plate Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Sweet Potatoe Suffle & cornbread. "Sigh" The best thing was the green beans. I didn't even enjoy the corn bread. Everything was fresh, yet lacked flavor, very bland. I will be returning to try some of the meats, but the sides I've tried, No Bueno. Brisket and pulled pork were very good. I'd give them a 4. Mac n cheese had no flavor. Collard greens were a little bitter. I'd say both were 2 for me. Fries were average so I give them a 3. Really liked the flavor of the potato salad. I'd rate it a 4. If it were a little chunkier I would've rated it even higher. Overall I have to say the sides were maybe a 2.5. Peach cobbler was good. There was an interesting flavor that was intermittent throughout. It was a familiar flavor but I couldn't place it. Maybe orange juice or some type of citrus? Maybe cardamom? I don't know--couldn't figure it out. As far as service goes, I give them a 4. We watched our hot sides get placed on the tray. There was steam coming from them. I don't know why, but it took another 20 minutes for the meat to be plated and placed on the tray. No more steam from the sides and we planned on returning them if they were cold by the time we got them to our table. There was no need. They called our name and when we approached the counter the woman took the sides off the tray. She told us that the meat had taken too long and they had cooled off. So she said she would get fresh ones and bring them to the table. Sad to say, but a lot of places would just let it go and wait to see if there'd be a complaint. Nice that the lady at the counter was proactive. I'd definitely go back. I'd just try some of the other sides. Except for the potato salad. I'd get that one again. read more

Meh barbecue. I was hoping for a great barbecue place in Johns Creek, but after giving it a couple tries I'm underwhelmed. The barbecue is just ok (we've tried almost all of the meats on the menu) and the sides aren't anything to write home about. My family loves barbecue and we've tried places all across the southeast us - City is in the middle to lower end of the pack. Drove past here exploring the area and the parking lot was packed! So I called in a to go order. I loved that they didn't cook the fries until i showed up! That was very kind. The staff was attentive and quick despite the busyness of the restaurant. I ordered the sausage ribs, potato salad and green beans. I got hubby ribs pulled chicken macaroni and fries. Our favorite items were the green beans (seasoned very very well) and the chicken....oh dear chicken thank you for being so tasty! It's flavored well and it has onions in it. City Barbeque serves really great bbq! Their menu & atmosphere is literally as if you were grilling in your own backyard. I got the beef brisket sandwich, 3-cheese mac n' cheese, & cornbread, & my husband got the half chicken, green beans, & 3-cheese mac n' cheese. We also got a basket of fried pickles to share. Everything was so delicious! The meat was very soft & moist, the mac n' cheese was the perfect combination of creamy & cheesy, & the cornbread was just the right amount of sweet. Their sweet tea? Perfect! My husband wasn't a fan of the green beans only because it had bacon in it & he's not a huge fan of bacon. I wasn't a huge fan of the fried pickles but my husband said they were the best fried pickles he's had. Overall, everything was extremely delicious & we left feeling so full. This place is definitely at the top of our list for bbq places! We will definitely be returning. Also - service was VERY friendly & welcoming. Everyone working there treated you like a friend! In short, I won't suggest coming here again, but if the people I am with want to go, then I won't say no. I think the place has a few things to improve, starting with picking up your food. Everyone is gathered near a counter waiting on them to whisper your name, they need a loud speaker system so you can hear your name from your table. My next issue are the sauce's, they have a number of them, but they are all vinegar or Malaysia based no tomato base ones and they are in big squirt bottles located at a community station, you fill a jello shot cup to take back to your table. Don't forget to bus your table when you are finished eating. Things are done here for the ease of the establishment, not for the patron. The bbq is ok, we had brisket, pork, ribs, chicken, fries, cornbread, and hushpuppies. The best was the hushpuppies followed by the fries. The ribs were chewy, the pork and brisket were average. With all the BBQ places in town, I think there are better options. read more

The worst BBQ in Georgia! Ordered over the phone for pickup, gave clear instructions but the order was a mess and food was cold. Ribs were just ok but no sauces were in the bag. The brisket was terrible and tough. Gave clear instructions twice for chopped brisket. Still did not get it chopped. The sausages were salty. Fries were as saggy as collard greens. No napkins no silverware. Everything was cold. The nastiest bbq - stay away from this place if u love BBQ. This is a terrible choice. read more

We tried City tonight. I had the brisket and sausage. Both were average. The brisket was dry and chopped. It wouldn't have held up well sliced. My wife had brisket and pulled pork. This has become our favorite BBQ Restaurant. It's only been open a short time but we have been there several times. Best ribs I have had other than mine on the egg. New in our area. Good bbq. Shredded pork very good. No fatty chunks. Wasn't a typical restaurant. You wait in line, order at counter, sit and they call your name to get your food. I got the brisket and it was wonderful! There were so many Barbeque sauces to choose from- it was kind of overwhelming and confusing but they were good. Came for lunch on Friday Nov 9, 2018. Lots of people in line to order. Line moved fast. Very friendly employees. I ordered the "lite lunch combo". I got the pulled pork sandwich which was full of Barbeque. The barbecue was very moist and had no fat to pull out!! I chose Mac & cheese. The pasta was to firm for me. The corn pudding was delicious. The food was good. The delivery system lack any sort of organization . I got the pulled pork sandwich lunch platter, with the 2 sides. Not very much meat on the sandwich. It didn't taste bad but I couldn't tell if it good I couldn't find lemons for my tea, and the tea went in the glass before the ice. Splatter effect. The sides were ok. Tater salad and green beans. This is the second time we have been to city BBQ and both times there has been a line out the door. The first time it took 40 minuets to order and the second time it was a bit faster. We have had every side they offer and they are good, not great or very good, just good. The chicken, pork and brisket are also good. The selection of sauces are good and all of their deserts are good. Now the reason for my attraction to this place, ribs baby ribs! The ribs are bathed in smoke and a rich rub that makes me think of smoke candy for big boys. These need no sauce just a lot of napkins. The other meats have a great smoked flavor but the ribs are the best they have to offer. The food is good and the smoking process is very good. read more

The first time I ate at city barbecue I went with friends and ate inside it was the best barbecue ever. I just had surgery at Johns Creek hospital and I thought well for lunch I would love some barbecue so I sent my friend into to place an order wrote everything down took the order home and what was supposed to be on the sandwich was missing. Also the ribs were supposed to have sauce on .there was no sauce on the ribsI tried to place the order online but there was a problem with the app then I called and no one would answer the phone.I hope they get their stuff together would've had five stars but I only gave it 2. read more
