Great looking restaurant, clean, friendly service, and fast. I placed an online order and it was ready very fast. Here's my scores 1-10. I got the pulled pork(10) chicken breast and wing (10) greens (7) cornbread (10) Mac and cheese (4) sweet tea (10). Everything was very good, my only disappointment was the Mac and cheese. It's not good old fashioned baked Mac and cheese. Besides that everything was delicious. I'll definitely be back and try some different sides next time. I haven't been here in about 3 months and now I'm back. I usually will eat at this location at least 3 times a month. However, I was disappointed as a first a few nights ago when I went to the Suwanee (John's Creek) location with a first timer to City BBQ friend. IU bragged to him that he would have the best brisket in GA. The brisket is always my favorite. It was somewhat cold and dry, not the usual juicy melt in your mouth Brisket which I am used to getting there. Some of the sides seemed off and not steaming hot too. The place looked overwhelmed with take out and maybe it was just an off night. I didn't see Marvin who, is an awesome manager and the personality of this place. A) I hope it was just an off night and B) I hope Marvin is still there managing this place. Will be back in a few days as usual and hope I get the 5 star experience I'm used to getting there. read more

I visited City BBQ a 2nd time after enjoying a first dine-in visit during opening week. This time, I ordered the Motherload for take-out, and was not as pleased with the results. With a variety of proteins to try, the pulled pork and sausage were heavily salted, whereas the ribs were dry. As usual, the brisket was the star of the meats. I also ordered sides of mac-and-cheese, corn pudding, green beans, and collard greens. Again, the green beans and collard greens were over-salted to the point they were inedible. Lastly, despite ordering $60 of takeout, no bbq sauce was offered or included within my packed order. How disappointing is it to get home with a tray of bbq and no sauce! Not sure what has changed since my first visit, but now I am not sure if I will be returning for more. read more

This is a really high quality BBQ. They are fast and efficient. They also have a great online ordering process and will bring the food out to the car for pick up! One thing to note is if the meat item isn't available to order it's possible they sold out for the day, which is fine by me I'm glad to know it's is made fresh daily. read more

Okay. So I am not a BBQ expert but I have had good bbq. The texture and color of the bbq was spot-on. However....the salt level...dang... And it wasn't just the meat. The fries were also salty. The mac and cheese failed the little girl test and the collards were too peppery. I so wanted to like this place but alas... As far as service goes it is okay. It is an order and sit down and wait place. The noise level was not conducive to conversations and the silverware, condiments, plates and such had to be retrieved on your own. We may try again after they have been open for a while, but for now...we will keep looking for bbq in Johns Creek. read more

This place is pretty damn good! I'm hard to please when it comes to BBQ. The brisket is very tasty although I'm not a fan of the burnt ends on a sandwich. The baked beans and potato salad are definitely on point. My only complaint is that you don't get any sides with the sandwich. Those you pay extra. There should be a sandwich plate option. The food was good, but by the time we got our food and all of the accompaniments that we wanted we were back and forth to the bar too many times. It was very family oriented. We visited this new Johns Creek Restaurant on July 5th. They were out of pork and chicken. My husband ordered the ribs, potato salad and baked beans. He loved it all. He tested the sauces. We decided we like the original sauce the best. I ordered the sliced turkey which was very moist. Also got the potato salad (red potato salad was scrumptious) and green beans. We were both pleased with our meals. The manager was very present in the eating area and was giving out samples in the line. We will be back to try the pork, chicken and brisket. read more

My husband and I ordered Uber eats and of course the food wasn't hot when it got here but that's reasonable for delivery. The bun actually felt like it Just came out of the fridge and my pulled chicken sandwich was just shredded chicken plain, NO sauce At All. Not even a side of bbq sauce at all in our bag from this BBQ restaurant. I have only eaten here 2 other times and we've never ordered pulled anything sandwich so I don't know if you have to REQUEST BBQ sauce with your BBQ meal or what but it was definitely less than an impressive meal. Probably won't go back. Everything else was just meh. Wish I just made myself something yummy at home instead. read more

The atmosphere was terrible and I have vowed to never eat there in person again. Ordering at the counter took forever! We went early and the line wasn't even that long! Unfortunately we had a bad customer service experience with this restaurant. We placed an order for delivery for a group meal. It was delivered sealed so we know the driver didn't tamper with it, but we never received the sauce, which we all know is the main component of bbq. Otherwise you're just eating dry meat. When I called the restaurant to address the missing sauce I was told it was the delivery service providers issue and they couldn't help. There was no offer to allow us pick up the missing sauce or to rectify to situation at all, only to deal with it on our own, even though the mistake was the restaurant's fault . When we contacted the delivery service we were told it was the restaurant's issue to resolve which left us with an inedible meal. Since we already had guests and weren't going to serve dry bbq, we were forced to order another meal from another restaurant. It's sad that this business wouldn't simply provide the sauce that was supposed to come with our meal, making this our first and last time that we will ever order from this restaurant. Went here last night for probably the 50th time (seriously) since they opened. I love this place and quite frankly, think I just might have an addiction! Thankfully, they don't judge me or make me feel bad-LOL. This place has flavorful meat, cooked to perfection on-site. All of their dishes are made-from-scratch, so occasionally they do run out, if the item happens to be popular that day. They have awesome sides (I don't eat pork and some do contain -the pig so I can't say I've tried em'), but I've certainly had all of the ones' that don't and they won't disappoint. The food is affordable and they frequently have new menu options to try. They make the most amazing and original barbeque sauces and also offer new monthly flavors along with their original staples to drench your brisket (or whatever you want) in. If you want good barbeque, we don't really have any good options (IMO) north of Atlanta, this is SO worth the drive and you won't regret it. *I must add, always a clean welcoming environment, with great service. read more

I've been here a couple of times now and it was great each time. The bbq pork is delicious and doesn't even need much sauce! They have several different types of sauces, like original, mustard, sweet, and even bourbon. I've had the baked beans, fries, mac and cheese, and collard greens and all of them were good. If I had to critique one thing, it would be the mac and cheese. The cheese part kind of seems like it came from a tube, not like homemade mac and cheese. The chocolate cake was delicious too! These week I had a super bad experience with City Bbq. We've eaten there several times and always enjoyed it until Monday. My son and I stopped in and ordered ribs as we usually do. Along with the ribs we had a side order of bacon cheese fries. My son and I ate the same exact thing except for the sauces. I used the original sauce and he likes something a little spicier. Within 10 minutes of leaving the store I began getting sick. Barely made it home and honestly thought we would have to call an ambulance. After being sick, throwing up, breaking out in sweat, sitting on the toilet with a trash can in my hands, I expelled the parts that made me violently ill. I called to report this to City Bbq and spoke with Marvin the gen mgr. Marvin seemed sympathetic at the time and told me he had eaten the ribs 3 times that day himself and he didn't get sick. I explained my son didnt get sick either. We pinned it to the sauce. It was the only difference in our meals. Their sauces are left at room temperature. Marvin said he felt bad for me and wanted to do something good for me. Said he was busy and would call me back. Two days later. I havent heard from him. Considering calling the health dept. and their corporate office after this incident. read more

We got a party pack and it was beyond delicious!! Everyone went on and on about how good it was. Several said they never eat BBQ but they are now sold! They loved it. The servings were huge and so everyone had seconds and more. The service was exceptional. Everyone was so nice. I have been to this restaurant a number of times with large orders because of a big family. The app allows you to order party packs but then no attention to detail to allow you to order multiple meats. I earn rewards that can't be redeemed. I call to place my order and can't apply rewards, so then I have to order at the restaurant. Order at the restaurant and my order is completely wrong!!! Took second trip to The City and I'm grazing my way through the menu. Today I had the Pork BBQ with slaw, Collard greens and Mac and Cheese. BBQ sandwich was really good, plenty of BBQ pork I would order again. Sides were another story. Collard greens were so heavy with salt it was hard to taste them but there wasn't much to taste anyway. I suspect they are not familiar with Collards. Don't order. The big disappointment was a traditional side of Mac & Cheese. The spiral macaroni was undercooked and the cheese? Well...I don't think it was cheese. More like little league canned ballpark artificial cheese and was totally tasteless. Don't order that either. There are sides that BBQ places have to do well in the south and they failed on these two. On another day I tried the Brisket sandwich and the brisket was tender and good. Needed more smoke though but that's a preference. The pork had a nice smoke ring...wish the brisket had the same treatment. Ribs are next with some different sides. Also DON'T go on Sunday after 11:00am. The younger parents are letting their small children run amok through the restaurant, screaming and generally getting in the way of people trying to eat or get seated. The staff seemed to be clueless as to how to handle the parents but sooner or later something bad will happen when child meets a tray of hot food being carried by a customer and gets knocked over. It really was a circus of screaming and running small children. The parents need correction. read more

Man, I was so impressed by this place. Me and my family got the motherload which included: ribs, sausage, pulled pork, Turkey, brisket, chicken, cornbread, garlic bread, and 6 sides. The ribs were delicious, well seasoned, and flavorful. The pulled pork had a good bark and was tender. The brisket was also very tender and had a good bark. For the sides we had mac and cheese, green beans, collards, baked beans, potato salad, and fries. All of which reached way above my expectations. I don't even like baked beans, but these ones had brisket and were amazing! I also had the pleasure of trying 3 sauces the brushfire which was my favorite because it had a nice kick, the peach habanero which was too sweet for me, and the bourbon which was good. The garlic bread and cornbread also shined. Literally, there was nothing on my plate that wasn't good! Excellent barbecue, me and my family will definitely be back. Oh, I almost forgot their lemonade is made in house and rivals ChicFila. I am a lemonade connoisseur so trust me on this one. read more

The pork was really salty and the macaroni and cheese tasted like it was from a frozen meal. The salad with turkey was decent and the meat had good flavor. The place is understandably crowded because it is new.When I called for a take out order I was told it would take 40 minutes There is nothing exceptional enough to make the trouble worthwhile. There are many other good places close enough that I will choose as an alternate. When I spend $30 on a meal for two I neither want nor like having to bus my table when I am done. If you want to order a second beer, bottled drink, or dessert forget it. You need to go to the back of the 15 minute line to order it. The beer choices are very limited. Nothing is special about this place. My next time I want Barbecue, I will go back to Jim and Nick's. Similar price, better ambiance, less hassle, better food, you are not required to deposit your dishes in a busing station, and not far from City Barbeque. read more

I anxiously awaited the opening of this restaurant as we really need a good barbecue place here in Johns Creek. I couldn't help myself from trying them out as soon as I could. I know, I know, it's opening weekend just before a holiday but the temptation was too great. The line was reminiscent of some Austin barbecue standards I'd been to. After standing in line for about 30 minutes, I ordered my 1/2 pound lean brisket, 1/2 pound turkey, and 1/2 pound untrimmed brisket. (Don't tell my cardiologist.). The barbecue sauce bar was great with a variety of sauces from hot to sweet and a Carolina slather, as well as sliced pickles, jalapeños and fresh chopped onion. The meats were delivered shortly thereafter and I headed home to sit back and enjoy. Once home, I removed the meats from the bag and noticed they seemed quite light for half a pound. I said what the heck and put the meat in the cardboard trays on my kitchen scale. 6.4oz, 6.5oz, for the brisket and 6.6oz for the turkey. That really disappointed me and I removed the meat from the tray and it weighed 0.3oz, so they basically delivered 6 ounces of brisket for my half pound. I was never very good in science, but last time I checked, a 1/2 pound meant 8 ounces and when you charge $16.99/lb, isn't that what you're supposed to deliver??!!! I'd understand if the service was off due to the opening or being busy, but shorting you on quantity when you sell meat by the pound is unconscionable. (I really would have thought they would give you at least 8oz, just to be sure no one felt cheated. I'd post the pictures of the meats on my scale if I knew how.) I think no one likes the feeling of being overcharged. On the bright side, the turkey was very moist and tasty. There was no noticeable difference between the lean brisket and the untrimmed brisket, both with about a 1/4" fat "cap" on one side. The flavor or the meat was good with moderate smoke flavor and reasonabley juicy. I wish I could give more stars, but it really sticks in my craw that they would short you on quantity. If you order your barbecue there by the pound, I strongly recommend that you ask them to weigh it in front of you. read more
