First time here today. Had a pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese and vinegar slaw. The pulled pork was perfect and the sandwich had a good mix of inside and outside. They have a sauce bar but it seemed an abuse of this cue to add anything to it. The vinegar slaw was right on. Mac and cheese...so so. A bit like boxed. The crew was outstanding. All smiling faces and looking for a way to be helpful. No table service but there are people moving around so that you have no need of service. I called for curbside pick up at 6 PM for an order that was to be ready at 6:45. I showed up 5 minutes before my pick up time and got into a very long line of about 15 cars, and about 10 behind me, that were not moving. After 45 minutes of waiting, and calling the restaurant but being hung up on each time, I went inside and was told unapologetically that I could stand in line to get my refund or call the manager the next day and get a refund. They should have been outside going car to car apologizing for the delay and telling people they may or may not get their food. They just left everyone out there with no communication and no food. I will never eat there again. They have lost a LOT of business tonight. read more

Decided to use City BBQ for a luncheon where my wife resides in memory care. I chose a party pack that feeds 8-10 folks. I added sweet tea, an additional pound of brisket, and some corn bread. When I showed up the next day at noon to pick up the order (curbside p-up), the employee came out with a large bag. I asked her, "is everything in here?" to which she replied, "yes, it's all there," and walked away. No checklist review with me, nothing. When I arrived at the residence, I decided to do a check of the items before having the staff take them. No iced tea (a gallon), no plates, napkins, utensils. Afterward, I contacted a manager at City BBQ and told him about what had happened. I also asked him to credit my card for the tea. Apologies galore, but still no reimbursement. We visited for the first time last Saturday. The ribs were amazing! The chicken however was not edible. Was not cooked through and it even had blood gushing from the inside. We took it back up to the counter and the worker stated that all the chicken was the same. We needed up throwing it away. We won't ever try the chicken again. read more

We had such a nice experience today at City BBQ. I needed to order some Christmas catering and Scott was so very helpful. We sampled the delicious meat and he even helped plan my menu! Went for the first time today. A little rushed with the line and being my first time. Ordered quickly. Great environment and great food! Got the brisket sandwich and fresh cut fries. While waiting for my food I saw the smoked sausages and the burnt ends -dang. the bourbon sauce and the sweet sauces were good and they had probably 10 more. Will definitely go back soon. read more

Came in for the first time July 4. Won't be back for a long time. It took 40 minutes standing in line to reach the only order taker on duty. 10 minutes later my food was still not up. They lost my order. The meat was pretty good, but no BBQ in the world is worth that kind of wait. The people in line in front of me were in the mood for chicken. Sorry, sold out. Me and my boyfriend were starving and drove by this restaurant and thought it looked pretty good. we were expecting it to be over priced due to the atmosphere of it being a brand new upper scale barbeque. we both ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and 2 sides each (2 sides of mac and cheese, a side salad, and side of fries with 2 waters) and it was only $22! It came out very quick and was very delicious. the only thing is that the mac and cheese is mediocre and tastes like any other orange mac and cheese, but the chicken was delicious as well as everything else. we will for sure be coming back!!! they also carry at least 10 different types of bbq sauce that you can choose from ranging from sweet to spicy. Unfortunately I saw my food being prepared by a lady who was sweeping the floor and was asked to prepare my order. She had on the same gloves she was using to hold the broom and dust pan. She proceeded to fix my salad. Dipped her hands in the container with the gloves and wrapped up my food. When I spoke up the to go lady let her know she needed to change her gloves. She did not was her hands. Just changed her gloves and went to prepare a new salad where she already used dirty gloves. This is a very good bbq place first off this restaurant is like fast food you get in line and place your your order than they will call your name when ready and you pick anywhere to sit so this is not a restaurant style bbq place with a server which I didn't mind I thought it was different and some people may not like it but it was fine for me the bbq is very good and the sauces are exceptional I mixed the bourbon bbq sauce with the sweet bbq and it was so delicious the only reason I have 4 stars instead of five is because every bbq place in my opinion should have their own take on Mac and cheese and taste good but the Mac and cheese here is not good maybe for small children but to me it was very bland and easy Mac tasted better than this Mac and cheese so I don't recommend the Mac but any other side is great I loved the cornbread and they also have catering so it's a great place to order for a large get together read more

This is my all-time favorite barbeque place!! I eat here at least once a week. Not only is the food delicious, the staff is outstanding!! They go above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. The pulled pork is always tender and flavorful. I love to put the Brushfire barbeque sauce on it. The collard greens are cooked with pulled pork in them. They are so fresh and flavorful. The potato salad is out of this world!! It doesn't contain sweet relish (bleh) and doesn't have that weird mustard twang to it. It is just BEYOND!! Also, the corn pudding is the perfect mix of sweet(ish) and savory. I brought pulled pork, potato salad, corn pudding, and baked beans home to my family in Chattanooga. Disappointed with the quality of the ribs and bread when I came in at about 2:00 pm today; ordered 1/2 slab of ribs, the cook opened what I assumed was a warming oven, pulled out some ribs rapped in clear covering, cut half of the ribs and put them on the grill, applied some sauce on one side and grilled for about 30 seconds and put them in the to-go bag. Then proceeded to open a bag of bread, rip off a piece, rub the bread on a wheel and throw it on the grill for about 30 seconds. I was hoping for a little more care and freshness. read more

This place is not for a BBQ aficionado. Tried all the sauces...very sweet and cloying. Not a fan at all. Even the Carolina sauce was too sweet. Ribs were dry. Very dry. Husband said the pork sandwich was OK, but waaaay overpriced for this level of quality. Collards were OK. Banana pudding was kinda of a travesty. Cinnamon and caramel??? Not on my banana pudding. No Coke products! Yikes! In short, too expensive, too mediocre. This is how a corporate chain does BBQ. read more

I've been to the JC location twice...once for dine in and once for carry out. Neither time was it worth the money spent on the food. The dine in experience was so slow that it was ridiculous! I could've gone to a steakhouse; ordered, ate and left two times in the time it took to get our food (nearly 45 mins from the time of order). As for carryout....well the order was incorrect and when I called about it, after being passed around to a couple of people, a message was taken and the manager was to call me but never did. I took my 2 teenage son here last Sunday 10/14. We ordered a full slab of ribs, brisket, fries, baked beans and 2 bowls of brunswick stew. The ribs were well seasoned and had good smokey flavor. We were surprised at how good the baked beans were. Unfortunately the brunswick stew was a disappointment in several ways. It really needs improvement as it was bland and lacked of flavor. After we were done with dinner I stared at the receipt and it said $7.29 per bowl even though the menu on the wall indicated $5.49. I showed the cashier the receipt, and she asked the manager for the price adjustment. She told him what happened, he adjusted the price and walked away. Both of them were very non-apologetic about it. Not sure if the brunswick stew or the customer service needs more improvement. Perhaps both. read more

Brisket was really tender, vinegar slaw was great as was the baked beans. Even the sweet tea and lemonade. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the layout/process. It doesn't flow well at high volume of customers. The soda, sauce area is too busy. Separate it from the soda and fix the overall ordering, getting drinks/sauce process bottleneck so it all flows smooth and faster at high volume. Other than that, no complaints read more

My family and I tried this new place yesterday. I give it a 4 star for service, atmosphere and food. First bite was heaven. I got the pulled pork and green beans. By bite 3 though, the salt was overwhelming my poor taste buds. I saved half to bring home thinking my taste buds had changed (but eating it later, tasted way too salty too). My husband got the brisket. Again, first bite was tender, however, he also felt it was way too salty. When a team leader stopped by, she explained the salt was due to the bark and next time request center. Hmmmm. My husband also said the collards were too salty. My kids loved their pulled pork sandwich and turkey breast sandwiches which leads me to believe that the bread helps cut down the salty taste. Both my husband and I got it "naked" which made the meal just that much more salty. My fam loved the cornbread. We love bbq. Price was good, with $5 off coupon for signing up on app, just over $42 for 4 of us. We'll definitely give it another try, and ask for center on brisket - no bark. May try different sides, or even better, take the meat to go and make my own sides at home. I welcome this new place to Johns Creek! Aside from Jim n' Nicks (ok) and Q (great food, more upscale bar), this is a great casual place. read more

This was the first time I ordered from City Barbeque. It was very disappointing. I ordered a take-out brisket meal. The meat had tons of fat on it. I can understand having some fat left on the meat, but the amount left on the meat made it uneatable. I ended up throwing most of it away. best bbq in the burbs. while i'm not a huge fan of cafeteria style service, the quality of the food makes up for it... plus I knew what the service level was walking in, so I can live with it.
