This donut shop was right across from our condo. I saw the reviews and thought I would check it out our first day on Orange Beach! We went around 9:30am and they had about half the selection. Still TONS of donuts just not all the specialty ones I saw pictures of. The line was all through the store so we had a bit of a wait, but it was completely worth it! The staff was so friendly and patient with everyone there! We got an assorted dozen with glazed, chocolate dipped, blueberry, powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar powdered. All very yummy! The blueberry was probably my favorite though. We also got one apple fritter to try, it was delicious too! Definitely recommend City Donuts, just make sure to go early! read more

Been here five months took us a long time to find the best donut on the coast. Just like home fresh friendly and clean everything you'd want from a bakery. We would suggest they consider something like a P con or butter P con coffee cake which is super big in the Midwest. A bakery called Harners in North Aurora Illinois has the absolute best . Glad we found CITY DONUT bakery it will be a mainstay in years to come for us. read more

We were staying at Sandy Key Condominiums and decided to try City Donut. Apple fritters were huge and delicious. Cinnamon roll was very good. So disappointed. I was in town for the week and had my boyfriend drive me 30 min here so I could try a delicious (and hopefully unique donut). We walked in at 10 am on a Tuesday and there was only one rack filled with donuts. They were all basic cake donut flavors. Because we'd driven all the way there, I got a single chocolate cake donut. Great donuts and friendly service, if you're lucky enough to find them open. At least 3 times in the last year and a half we have made the 10 mile journey from home to find a small note on the door saying that they are closed for one reason or another. Recommend you call before heading there because right now they are closed until "next year" -- it must be nice to have a business where you can leave your customers hanging. I was really wanting a brownie a la mode! So I found this place on yelp, which it suggested when I typed in what I wanted lol. We get here, very small building. You would miss it if you weren't looking for it! They guy working was very polite and instead of getting what I wanted, since they didn't have it...he got a chocolate cake donut(heated) and put soft served ice cream on top. It was almost as good as a brownie a la mode. It served its purpose! We got several doughnuts for the next morning as well. They have any kind you can imagine! The doughnuts are light and fluffy! I was out running errands early on a Saturday morning while on vacation and saw this place and pulled in to get a dozen for my family on a whim. What a great idea that turned out to be! I don't get good reviews and all. This is a basic par/average donut shop in my opinion. I was disappointed and that there was only one jelly option, which was not good. Further, while the Bavarian cream donut part was good, the cream was weird and I stopped eating it. The rest of the donuts we tried, about six or seven altogether, are not worth mentioning, mostly below average. On the plus side, friendly service and very reasonable prices. PS. I LOVE a good donut and this place hit the spot. We got there a little late, so they were almost out of everything. That's a sign of how good they are. There was enough for a dozen; we had, cinnamon sugar, vanilla bean, vanilla bean with strawberry swirl, lemon filled and glazed twists with chocolate drizzle. Ignore the posted honors. They close when the donuts are gone. The donuts are amazing so they go quickly. My first attempt to visit found the doors locked and the people and donuts gone during the advertised hours. I went back earlier the next day, but the donuts were nearly gone and they were about to close. Fortunately, I was able to sample some donuts. The double chocolate cake donut was perfect. It was fresh and soft and delicious. I found the yeast donut to be tasty too and it was loaded with delicious custard. The cashier said her favorite was the fried croissant. Heard a lot about this donut shop on the main drag. Wondered how good a donut can be. Wife ran over there one day about 10am and they were sold out. Figured I needed to try this place. Took a quick walk (10 min) from condo the next AM about 815am and waited in line for about 10 minutes. The smell was heavenly. Bought 8 assorted donuts -and WOW they were good - we wolfed them down quickly and I was kicking myself for not buying a dozen. Well maybe next time. Talked to the owner behind counter. This is a definite MUST VISIT every trip to the beach. Freshly made donuts. No donut holes cuz he makes them into another donut creation. These donuts are for real - none of that Krispy Kreme oily fried grease stuff. I had a blueberry, chocolate covered, and an oreo cookie and each was better than the next. The donuts a very light and airy, very tasty. The selection is unique with cereal toppings like fruit loops, cookies and candy bars. Really enjoyed them all. The staff is friendly and efficient, even though the house was packed from standing in line to placing our order to paying and leaving, less than ten minutes. read more

They taste like dessert. Well worth the price. Even though a lot of coffees here are brewed frozen, make no mistake these baristas can whip up a mean macchiato in an even shorter time than a Starbucks barista. I highly recommend getting the daily specials. read more

We've been here 3 times over the last year, and the donuts were never less than excellent. They have a nice mix of the standard/traditional flavors with the oddball (fruit loops? bacon-maple, etc.) Get here early, since the good ones go fast.
