We quickly found out why there was a slow line. the 2 employees saturday morning 10/16 were the slowest and most disrespectful employees. We are business owners and being friendly and making customers feel welcome is huge for us. they never spoke to anyone only each other. their topic was about getting another job at Books a million. we almost walked out after 15 minutes of waiting and listening to them talk to each other and pretty much ignore customers. going to be here all week and won't step a foot back in there! read more

City Donut deserves an updated review because in 3 years they've stayed not only consistent but have improved their business. Will always be a favorite of ours in OB. ORIGINAL REVIEW- After reading reviews, City Donut was on my top list of restaurants to visit while in Orange Beach. I was really hoping to get my hands on a Key Lime Pie donut, but was informed that it's more of a seasonal donut. STILL- I was not left disappointed. I arrived around 8am, as reviews said they run out fast, and they had plenty of donuts to choose from. We bought an array of different flavors because we wanted to try them all- and oh my goodness not a single donut was to disappoint. They were delightfully fresh and each bite was full of sweet sugary flavor. The red velvet cake donut was TO DIE FOR. My step dad ate 3 glazed donuts IN A ROW and even my picky boyfriend was in awe of how good these donuts were. The iced mocha actually tasted like coffee and wasn't overrun by the mocha flavor- which made me incredibly happy. The flavoring was just right. My boyfriend and I spoke with the owner for a short time and he seemed like a great man- very friendly. The customer service was superb. We have already decided to return before we head for home- and we most certainly will be back on our future visits to Orange Beach. You can't beat a good freshly made donut and great customer service. This is my favorite place we have went so far. Edit- came back to see reviews as time progressed. I just want everyone to be aware that this is a SMALL donut shop!!! You can't compare this place to a chain donut shop that sells donuts literally all day. If you want donuts from this shop, you get up EARLY arrive there at open or shortly after, and you get your donuts! You don't wait until 10am after morning rush to stroll into a small donut shop and expect to get a dozen assorted donuts. They don't have 10-12 people in the back frying up donuts all morning/day/night. They have maybe 2-4 people. They make all their donuts in the morning, and then that's what they sell for the day. They don't continuously make their donuts throughout the day. And you can't arrive there at 6:40am when they open at 7am and complain because you have somewhere to be at 7am and can't wait until they open!!!! They have hours for a reason!!! Delicious! We must have shown up a little late - I think between 8:30 on a Saturday morning, because there seemed to be a limited selection. Or maybe it's just that way in the off season, not sure. The cream cheese iced red velvet donut was our favorite! I also had a bavarian cream chocolate frosted donut which was also amazing. My husband and I both got coffee drinks too, which were both delicious as well. Try the sugar crusted croissants. Out of this world. The coconut glazed Donuts are killer. If you have a large group with lots of kids this is the place to get Donuts and bring them back to your house or condo. Of course the kids will get a great sugar high, but what the heck mom & dad, pony up and get the kids some great Donuts.
