    Happy Brunch
    Quintin E.

City Kitchen is the kitchen, for you and me. This casual cool spacious hall of a restaurant is located in North Hollywood off Lankershim Blvd near the corner of Lankershim/Magnolia Blvd neighboring local gems like PitFire Pizza, Big Mama & Papas pizza, Horror Vibes Coffee, the former House of Intuition, El Portal Theater and Laemmle Theater across the street to name a few. We had brunch out for my friend Mike's birthday. Being a party of eight I knew to make a reservation, which they do accept either via phone call or via google reservations (maybe yelp reservations in the future). I booked on Tuesday via Google and followed up with a phone call just before they closed at 3pm - which is only on Monday and Tuesdays. The rest of the week they're open from 9am to 9pm. We sat near the back at a long table just past their bar area, which they have loads of seating at. The tables and chairs were plenty comfy and we noted some booth and tall table seating on the way in. All the tables have silverware, condiments and essentials all ready for you and your C.K. experience. They have breakfast, lunch and dinner items making it great for brunch and/or their all day breakfast offerings. Omelettes, paninis, pasta, salads, sandwiches, sides, starters/apps, wraps, desserts, burgers, and beverages including bottomless mimosas, mimosas by the bottle or by the glass with five assorted options (cranberry, guava, apple, orange or strawberry lemonade. The brunch beverage fun doesn't stop there with Sangria as well as organic tea, coffee, soft drinks, kombucha, gatorade, juice, plus still or sparkling water. Since City K doesn't have any clearly noted vegan options on their menu. I made a note of most of the vegetarian items that could be easily modified like the veggie sandwich/wrap w/o mozzarella cheese. It was pretty tasty, especially paired up with sweet potato fries. Everyone in our group very much enjoyed their meals from pancakes to hashbrowns and beyond. All the prices are reasonable including their under $30 bottomless mimosas (90 minute limit). We had brunch at 11 and stayed until almost 1 just as the real brunch rush came in, before we knew it the entire place was completely full versus when we arrived and we were one of maybe four other tables in the restaurant. Restrooms are clean and easy to access/use. Being a local eatery they have some flyers and posters on display toward the back for local happenings. Some outdoor seating is available, but limited in front. Parking is street, meter or local paid lots, though some have few to no restrictions. A little walk might ensue, but it's worth the strut over to this awesome service brekkie/lunch/dinner spot. Definitely would pop in again for the specials, service and company to enjoy the experience with. Cheers City Kitchen!

I came here for brunch with my friends on Sunday while I was in town visiting. Our server was super nice and friendly. He was very accommodating with splitting the check at the end. I ordered the bacon egg & cheese sandwich with a side order single pancake. The pancake was nice and fluffy and sweet. The sandwich was pretty good with a nice spicy aioli kick. My friends enjoyed their dishes, but nobody really *loved* anything in particular. Fyi: an 18% service fee is included on the bill.

I'll start by saying that the promise of bottomless mimosas was definitely what drew me in. Me and a couple of friends came here specifically for that, and while the mimosas were decent, you can tell from the photos I'm attaching that the champagne they use is cheaper than the juice itself (not the worst though, it's pretty standard in some establishments). They do offer a few different deals, whether you want the full bottomless option or just a bottle that gets you about five drinks for a lower price. However, even with the bottle option, they don't give you the choice to upgrade to a nicer champagne--you're stuck with the same cheap one either way. But aside from that, the food was pretty okay; nothing to rave about. Based on that alone, I would've given this place two stars, but what really made the experience frustrating was the service. Our waitress basically forgot about us halfway through our time there. We sat there for an extra hour before finally going up to the register and asking if she could give us the bill. The whole situation just felt unorganized. The inside of the restaurant itself is nice, but it was mostly empty, which honestly made it feel even more awkward. It looked like one person was trying to run the whole thing that day. I probably wouldn't come back, and I wouldn't recommend it. If someone asks me where to get bottomless mimosas, I'd suggest paying a little extra and going somewhere better.

Breakfast food is definitely one of my favorite meals . While visiting my friend , he decided to bring me here to City Kitchen . Apon walking in ,only a few patrons were scattered throughout the establishment . Truthfully I didn't have high hopes but sadly I was mistaken . Was prompted greeted and sat at the Hightop seats while we browsed the extensive menu . As I kept flipping I began to see photos of the dishes ! This made me so happy , as im a visual being and need to know what im getting myself into . There were so many options that caught my eye however I opted for the Spinach mushroom omelet . The omelet is full of goat cheese, spinach, mushroom, avocado, sundried tomatoes and basil . The dish came with toast and a side. I opted for the fruit and upcharge for French toast . Mentally I assumed I wasn't a goat cheese girlie ,but this omelet changed my views of the cheese all together ! I just may say this was the best omelet ive had in years . The blend of ingredients , the salty and creaminess of the cheese , the sundries tomatoes and fresh basil were superbbbbbb. I literally cant bring myself to explain it any other way ! Im catching myself making assumptions alot this visit, because I also assumed the " side of fruits would be a couple berries ". Wrong again. A nice hefty side of grapes ,blueberries ,strawberries and watermelon !! The French toast had crispy edges with a plush bouncy interior. Now this is worth the $20 spent ! Everything is so expensive nowadays and I know eating our can be a luxury for some . This was the best $20 ive spent at an eatery in awhile . Im literally still thinking about it. Highly recommend . Large selection Breakfast, brunch and lunch options available . Feisible prices .

Came back here for breakfast and luckily it was not super packed! I think this is a better brunch spot. We got coffee, the waffles, chillequilles and French fries. All were very tasty! Service was friendly!

I had a good breakfast at City Kitchen!! Omelette was delicious!!! The salad was super fresh! Coffee needs improvement.... The server was really sweet but they need to hire more help!! (He was the only guy working- running around a little bit, so it was tough to get his attention ). The space is a BIG and open casual (LOUD) dining room with lots of tables, a bar and two big tvs. Look up! There's art on the ceiling!!

I was expecting wood fired pizza, but they didn't have it unfortunately :( Not a lot of food options here, more of a casual place for a glass of wine.. so we got wine and charcuterie and left instead of dinner as planned. The cheese board was honestly depressing, with the bread being the best thing on there. I wish there was more cheese .. It was a cute place, but I felt a bit bamboozled . We were sat next to a bush , basically directly next to another couple, which felt like we were in their conversation. My car got trapped in with the parked when we were ready to leave. From the moment we pulled up to valet to checking in for our reservation, everything felt smooth and elevated. We got seated right away and our server, Roger (I think that was his name), immediately set the tone for the evening. He gave us a great rundown of the menu and the concept of the restaurant, which made the experience feel more personal and immersive. We started with the Hokkaido milk buns and wow... that brown butter was dangerously addicting. Soft and almost mousse-like with the perfect balance of sweetness and salt. I could honestly eat that by itself. The buns themselves were delicious too, though I do wish they served them piping hot like the bread at Texas Roadhouse or Lucille's Smokehouse. The yellowtail crudo was incredible. Super fresh, melt-in-your-mouth texture, and the chips added a nice crunch while the fruit brought a bright, robust flavor that paired beautifully with the fish. Easily one of my favorite dishes of the night. A friend of my friend happened to be working there that evening and surprised us with the kale sprouts. Funny enough, we had literally just been debating whether to order it. It turned out to be such a great dish -- smoky, crunchy, and packed with flavor. The raisins added a really nice touch of sweetness. We ended up saving some of it to eat alongside our entrees and it paired perfectly. My friend ordered the dry-aged branzino and it was excellent. Crispy skin on the outside while the fish stayed soft, juicy, sweet, and savory inside. The Oaxacan mole felt like such a bold choice but somehow worked beautifully with the dish. And that burnt sweet potato? So soft and flavorful it practically melted in your mouth. I went with the dry-aged duck breast and loved every part of it. It came with pommes aligot layered with duck au jus and fermented black bean underneath, which sounded unexpected but tasted amazing together. Rich, savory, unique, and comforting all at once. The potato pave was another standout -- crispy on the outside, tender and rich on the inside. Absolutely delicious. Everything about the night was memorable: the atmosphere, the music, the food, and the service. Verse is definitely one of those places that stands out from the usual dining scene. We didn't have time to stay for dessert since we had another engagement afterward, but honestly that just gave us another reason to come back.

My wife and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary here, and it was our first time visiting. We…read moreabsolutely loved it. The atmosphere is incredibly romantic, the vibe is amazing, and the live band really adds to the experience. The service was top-notch as well. Roger was our waiter, and he was energetic, attentive, and thoughtful enough to send out a complimentary dessert with a candle to help us celebrate. The food was outstanding. We started with the kale sprouts and buns appetizer, then my wife ordered the mushroom risotto from their vegetarian menu, which was a really nice surprise since we hadn't seen it online and it gave her more options, and I had the NY steak. We also shared the corn elote on the side. Everything -- and I truly mean everything -- was delicious and incredibly satisfying. One thing I really appreciated was that dinner felt like an experience rather than a rushed meal. The food came out a little slower than at most restaurants, but honestly, that made the night even better. It gave us time to enjoy the music, relax, talk, and savor each course as it came out. Sometimes with upscale restaurants, you worry you'll pay a lot and still leave hungry. That was definitely not the case here. Verse exceeded our expectations, and we'll absolutely be back! Next time I wanna try that tomahawk steak!

TLDR: The best way to unite group of people is with some paella!! Small place but great ambiance…read moreand even better service and to wrap it all up is a gorgeous meal Ordered Kale Salad: 3/5 - If you need a good palette cleanser then this is a good one to have. You can't really go wrong with a the kale version of a house salad however there are plenty of other options you could order Scallop Crudo: 5/5 - So incredibly blown away by this? I don't think I've scallop this good in years. Melts in your mouth, the sauce is light but perfectly pairs with the fish. I could not get over this one Gambas Al Ajillo: 5/5 - If I could lick the plate clean publicly and without discrimination I would've. The sauce reminded me of some of the best pasta ive ever had. The shrimp was big and well marinated, oh what fun this one was! It was a crime this didn't have more bread to soak it in. I'm not just leaving money on the table, I'm leaving bliss. Potatoes: 5/5 - These were really good! I loved the heat this had and the sauce to go with it. The seasoning great, the skin was crispy but still a soft moist potato inside. These were great to share. Paella Mariscos - 4.5/5 - After everything we had this was a fairly good portion for 3 people even though it says it serves 2 (I still stand by the 2 serving if you don't have much tapas). With that said I think this was a little more on the simpler side when it came to flavor. You could tell it wasn't trying to do too much while still letting you know she's the star of the show. There was a good amount of seafood all of which was cooked really well. The rice was perfect and the sauce ratio was great as well. I had some the next day and it was even better. I really think those scallops just stayed in my mind the whole night. Bread Pudding - 4/5 - I really appreciated the creativity behind reinventing the bread pudding! It was like a cinnamon roll esc type which was a fun but not blow me out of the water dessert. With that said everything on there looked so good so my eye is on the key lime next. Wine: The Albarino was great! I've never heard of it but was a fan favorite. Paired great with all the food. For 3 the total came out to $280 (with tip) which wasn't that bad. Service: 5/5 I forgot our servers name but he was so sweet! He gave us his recs, checked in on us frequently and was accommodating. I also feel like he was serving a lot of tables so his service was stellar! Ambiance: 5/5 The place is tinnyyy but man I am obsessed with the interior. Its swanky without it being pretentious. Intimate feeling but can feel the atmosphere. Not sure what the noise level was like inside, we were outside (two tables on the sidewalk), but it seems like it could get a little loud. Parking: N/A - Its a prime spot on ventura, only metered so...can't really knock the place off that. Really excited to come back here! Hopefully in the near future!

The staff was very friendly, and the owner checked in frequently to make sure we were enjoying everything. We ordered the patatas bravas, fries, mushroom bruschetta, asparagus, calamari, octopus, and branzino. Every dish was delicious and perfect for sharing between 2-3 people. For dessert, we had the cheesecake with strawberry sauce, which was amazing. They also have a great wine selection and delicious sangria. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would love to come back to try more dishes. 10/10 -- highly recommend!
