Generally we love City Slicker, the entrees we've had so far (meatloaf, salmon, paella) have been great. You'll either love these pizzas or hate them, they have a thicker crust like a deep pan pizza just without the deep! The crust is crispy and they use the perfect amount of topping so we love them. Another favourite are the salads, the spinach and garden salads are fab and we love the customizable options. I would have given them 5 stars but I just had the most disappointing Cuban and side Casear. The salad was just "meh" but the Cuban I can't forgive. They asked what kind of bread I wanted and it my book it's not a Cuban if it's not on Cuban bread or even a baguette. But ok, I requested French bread. I was eagerly anticipating the crunch of my first bite so when I was met with a soggy non-crunch I was super disappointed. The pickles weren't thinly sliced and the mustard was overwhelming. Here is my verdict, short but sweet: Some tasty sandwiches (I'm partial to the portobello), however the pizza has a geese-soaked crust and is seriously lacking in toppings (especially for how much you pay). This restaurant has extraordinary value. My only concern is that whenever I go it's empty! However, the staff tells me that most of their business is take-out and delivery. Excellent pizza! If you are a fan of New England Greek style pies or Pub Pizza, this is absolutely incredible. The way Briggs Corner in Attleboro is (on a good day), only, made with more (maybe only?) cheddar. The garlic bread is delicious. Overpriced, but delicious! Most pizza places, take a dry, crusty sub roll, cut it down the middle, slather it in butter and/or oil, add garlic or garlic powder and slap it on the grill or put it through the pizza oven. I'm not certain how they make theirs, but I know it is far more flavorful than any pizza place garlic bread I've ever had. And the bread they use is good quality, probably locally made (if not house made). I'm not sure it's worth the $4.50 they charge for it. But I'm sure it's delicious. read more

The service completely blows. I got delievery. The food was late. They forgot my apple juice for the SECOND time this week. I even put a friendly reminder not to forget the juice in the special instructions. Apparently they don't read the special instructions. The food here is fantastic. The food was O.K. I got chicken Milanese and it had some kind of vodka sauce on it which was tasty but not the norm for a Milanese which is typically just a cutlet, no sauce. the broccoli was also under cooked. my gf had a pulled pork sandwich...it was amazing The delivery driver pulled up doing about 40 and slamming his breaks on 5 ft from a parked car....(he was already late but still, slow down maniac), the bill was 25 something dollars. I pulled out a 10 and a 20 and asked him if he had 2 dollars. he said "I might" and reached for my cash. I said "wait, do you or do you not have two dollars?" He said "I think I have one dollar." I said "can you check?" he reluctantly pulled his wallet out and removed one dollar. I asked if he had another. he said he had one in the car. So I said "well go to your car and get the other dollar and I will give you this 30" At this point the kid deserves to lose his job for trying to hustle me but he proceeds to make matters worse by walking slowly to his car, slamming the trunk, slowly getting his other dollar, walking back slowly, handing me the two dollars, and not responding to my, "thanks, have a nice night". just turned his back and walked away like some kind of tough guy. the fact is he was furious because he couldn't hustle me and furious he could not do anything about it. I felt he was incredibly angry, out of line, and I hope the restaurant does something about this in the future because the food is actually good, and I wouldn't mind ordering from them. I wont consider ordering from them again until I know the delivery driver is not going to bust my balls at the door. I work hard, have long days, and the last thing I need is that ridiculous debacle at 11:30pm on the porch of my multi unit house. I called the restaurant last night after the driver left and the gentleman I spoke with was courteous and apologetic. I hope he keeps his word and actually resolves this issue. read more

The City Girl pizza used to be my favorite pizza of all time, but after their recent ownership change, they admittedly changed the recipe and turned what was a work of art, into a run of the mill marinara and cheese flatbread. I don't want to crap on the new restaurant, I just want to warn everyone who used to expect great gourmet American takeout...it's a completely different restaurant and is nothing like what you're used to ordering. I've had food from this place a couple times and I have never been particularly impressed. They call it creative comfort food and most of the items are a twist on classic favorites but I won't go out of my way to eat here. I suppose maybe if I was super hungry and that happened to be the closest spot... I've had both delivery and dine in. It took a really long time to have the food delivered. The pizza is definitely a HATE for me. And I love pizza! I felt that the crust was too greasy and the sauce tasted a little off. Basically, not delicious. We have gone back a handful of times, trying something different each time and have yet to be disappointed. Why are you so great and now have formed me an addiction to what the boyfriend calls, folded pizza. Don't get me wrong, as much as the calzone looks like a folded pizza, it is the most delicious folded pizza I have had. Recently had the bacon cheeseburger calzone and with a little siracha in it, it was on point. The Korean bbq wings were meh, but the buffalo wings were a lot better. Update 4/15: After what they served on my most recent visit, I have to lower my rating to one star, though I would give them none if I could. The food was inedible. Even my dogs wouldnt eat it. And that is saying a lot. I got a chicken pasta dish with the melted mozzarrella and pine nuts added to the top. The mozzarrella was not melted, and frankly was rubber. It didn't even look like food. The chicken - well, that's why they call it - was either Grade F quality, or maybe rat meat. We also got a calzone which must have weighed 5 pounds - 2 pounds bread, 2.5 pounds lard and half a pound of mystery meat. We're talking the amount of lard where you put the leftovers (or in this case almost all of it) in the refrigerator and an hour later, you have a thick layer of hardened grease. Maybe the regular chef or owner was sick that day? Not sure, but that's it. The food was horrifyingly disgusting. I mean HORRIFYINGLY bad. Just thinking about the idea of ordering there makes me vomit. This place is permanently banned by me and I also decree I will let no one I care even the tiniest iota will be permitted to go here. And if they insist, then I will insist they have a will first, and list me as the sole beneficiary. Hmm, well if they're rich and have a beach house, maybe I'll even drive them. But other than THAT... never again. (My previous review is below) City Slicker is a mixed bag. Some of their stuff I really enjoy, and other stuff is just inedible. The "pizza". It isn't pizza. It is more like a giant crunchy round crouton that is doused in oil, and then soaks up extra oil from the cheese and various meats. They really shouldn't call it pizza. I have tried a bunch of different versions, and I can say if you get toppings with less fat, like vegetables only, then the crust is slightly less greasy. Even so, it is just plain gross. The fries? Well, they are delicious and they give you enough to feed a horse - twice. As for their tasting sauces, the choices are essentially dijon mustard, ketchup or mayonnaise. I wouldn't pay extra for any of it. As for their specialities, this is where I think they shine. Their chicken piccatta is great - for a delivery/take-out place. I mean, it isn't the most amazing piccatta I've ever had, but when I need late night delivery and don't want the standard pizza or chinese, their piccatta is the way to go. Thin breaded chicken breast with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Excellent. I've had their mahi mahi before and frankly, it made me nauseous. Just the smell of it. The taste was worse. As for their pastas, I really like them. It's definitely light years better than Cinderella's. I particularly like "Chicken Sauce" topped with broiled mozzarella and pine nuts. So, like I said, it's a mixed bag. It's a definite go-to place on Foodler - cheap, decent, fast and fresh. As long as you avoid the pizza. read more

I love City Slicker. The pizza is on the heavy side (read greasy) and has a crispy crust. I find them to be just a little more expensive (~$2) than the typical pizza place but it's worth it for a unique pizza. The City Girl, Tree Hugger and The Big Cheese are some great vegetarian pizzas. read more

I just had the best delivery experience of my life. The girl that took my order over the phone-super nice. I was quoted a time of 45 minutes and exactly 45 minutes later the food arrived. If I could give a negative number of stars would. I ordered a "root vegetable" salad and received a poorly thrown together hotmess consisting of four small pieces of sweet potato and a microscopic pinch of gorgonzola cheese. The sweet potato fries were burnt and cold as a corpse in a morgue. A corpse would be a more appetizing and fulfilling meal than the horrific interpretation of a proper food order. read more

This place is a good alternative to the typical delivery fare you can get in the Porter Square area. Their sandwiches are great comfort food. Very happy with this place! The Cobb sandwich on 7 grain was amazing - blew me away!!! Everything tasted fresh and together the ingredients made a delicious flavor combo! I was a little skeptical about the grape tomato salsa but I was pleasantly surprised because it totally brought the whole sandwich together. Wait staff were pleasant and efficent. I get delivery here often. I love the pasta dishes but the pizza and calzones are grease ball city. I know some people like that - personally I don't, but the sandwiches and pasta dishes are great. I chose this place because I had a taste for some random things, and they do have a diverse menu. Their pizza section had some seemingly inspired options, which I thought might separate them from the bottom rung of take out.. I thought wrong and got screwed into a meal that can be best described as lazy and gross. I got Asian pork dumplings and the Italian pizza. I could not distinguish their dumplings from the frozen ones at any grocery store, so that's most likely what was happening. They actually had less flavor than many that I've bought at a store. This would have mattered less if they weren't asking $8 for them! The pizza brought to mind what would happen if Pizza Hut took their pan pizza, threw on more oil, and started selling frozen versions at the store. I got through one piece of the bland, soggy, grease-laden, mess before throwing the rest away. Sometimes I can recognize that I may have ordered something sub par off an otherwise acceptable/good menu. When I think this might be the case, I'm open to giving the place another shot (coming from a place with limited food options, I couldn't be as picky as I can now living in Boston). I don't feel that way about City Slicker Cafe. I'll never eat there again. I'd like to avoid another evening of disappointment and the task of trying not to rip nasties in front of a new roommate. read more

One of our favorite delivery spots. I will agree that some of the items are hit or miss, but the hits are worth going back to again and again. I love their fries and dipping sauces, although they are a little on the starchy side. I'm careful to tear open the bag immediately when they arrive to keep 'em from getting soggy. I also adore their pastas, particularly the bolognese; it's so good that my roommate and I add it to the order even when we don't want it, just to have leftovers sitting around. Chicken parm pasta is also quite good. The dinner entrees like meatloaf and pork chops are tasty, and it's *so nice* to be able to get food with nice crunchy vegetables delivered. Not sure why the buffalo fingers have disappeared from the menu. The pizza is not for everyone; it _is_ oily. That limits your options for toppings somewhat. But underneath the oil is really good dough and excellent quality toppings. Pick lean meats and vegetables and you'll be golden; feta works really well. The misses: I have tried so hard to like the bacon cheeseburger pizza, but it's just terrible. The caramelized onions are just way too sweet. Quesadilla quality is variable, and the chicken piccata is best avoided. Haven't had the service issues that others mention -- the order is almost always 100% perfect. Maybe I'm a little biased because I worked there but I really loved all the food I tried during my few months there. Pizza is nice and crispy and filling, the umami burger is just delicius, and it's where I fell in love with sweet potato fries. Food is very consistent for the sheer amount of orders. Can get pretty busy on Fridays and Saturdays so expect a bit of a wait but drivers are pretty speedy if you get delivery. Also try their desserts. The bread pudding and churros are great! read more

Amazingly fast delivery given the state of endless snow currently here in Cambridge! The fried ravioli is really amazing, just mind blowing! Their calzones are fantastic, though "small" is what I would typically consider to be large, definitely filling and stuffed! I love that you get a choice in sauce too, white or tomato! I had white (Alfredo) which was awesome! And for desert (because I needed more calories apparently-was really hungry when I ordered!) wonderfully delicious churro! I only got one (thankfully because I am beyond stuffed) but it was so good! Lots of cinnamon warm and gooey goodness!!! Highly highly recommend with enthusiasm!
