This place has good tacos! It has a lot of outdoor seating, as well as some indoor seating which is open air. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you. There's a little enclosed dog area next to the outdoor seating too. We got the pescado taco, big papa, chile relleno, and Camaron enchilado tacos, and all were very good. I would skip the chips and guac, it was a little flavorless. Overall a nice spot in ocean beach for tacos with lots of seating that accommodates large groups!

City Tacos in Ocean Beach is consistently excellent! The food is always on point and the vibes are great. Beyond the menu, the service from the staff is consistently good - they are always friendly and efficient, which makes every visit a pleasure. There is plenty of outdoor seating and a few tables indoors; we always try to snag a spot outside if there's space, as it's a wonderful environment for those with children or pets. While there are only 4-5 dedicated parking spots, you can usually find street parking nearby. I highly recommend the Surf & Turf, the Mexicali, and the Shrimp Crunch taco. Five stars!

Sad tacos for high prices. Please read this review & go somewhere more authentic (and better & cheaper)

All this review is about is surrounding the fish tacos. I have to give it five stars. I did not try anything else like the other yelp reviews say but I will applaud the fish tacos because the perfect amount of crunchiness of the batter and ratio to the actual fish and the unique sauce that they have mixed in with the salsa is just really really good. I found this place pretty quiet on a weekday night and they have a fun play area outside. The ambience is very San Diego and I would say that I waited about 12 minutes for my two fish tacos, which I thought was a little bit long, but it was actually worth it because they did do it fresh. I'm not sure yet if I would put it in my top three taco places, but in terms of the fish taco, it was great. It does cost a little bit more, but it was also a great taco.

The food was delicious I loved sitting outside on a beautiful day enjoying a variety of tacos! They were also able to accommodate requests such as no onions. The service was quick. I really like that they have a little fenced area for dogs so they could enjoy the day too!

Stopped by City Tacos of Ocean Beach for lunch. The tacos of the month looked intriguing, so I ordered a pair. The tacos were the "Chile En Nogada" tacos. The tacos came with a grilled poblano pepper, seasoned ground beef, topped with a walnut cream sauce, and garnished with chopped walnuts and almonds, and pomegranate seed on a warm flour tortilla. The tacos were very good and offered good flavor. The seasoned ground beef, although a little on the dry side, was well seasoned and tasty. The poblano peppers and walnut cream sauce were both very delicious. The service was very good. Melanie, I noticed, was not only a very hard worker, as I watched her set up and prepared the place while I had my iced tea at OB Surf Cafe, but she was super friendly and offered great service. There's plenty of outside seating and some on the inside. They offer a good salsa bar.

My husband and I go to this City Tacos location at least once a month. It's become somewhat of a weekend date day destination. And for all the times we've been here, we have never once been disappointed by the food. My go-to order is the Sonoran fish taco and the SD carne asada taco. And I ALWAYS order the frijoles charros to take home! (Pro tip - grab some cilantro and onions to go and add those on after heating up your beans the next day - perfect lunch!) My husband gets something different every time, which I am always happy to try and have liked everything I've gotten a nibble of. They have a great salsa selection, and I really appreciate the lime wedges, cilantro, and chopped onions. They have a decent beer selection as well as soft drinks. The prices here are always fair and very competitive, and service is QUICK and always friendly. We've never had trouble finding a place to sit, even on very busy days, and the best part is we always get to bring our dogs. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program so you can sign in every time you stop by and earn rewards points towards your next visit.

Located across the street from ob noodle near the dog beach. Cute outdoor street taco truck style tacos, with a walk up restaurant style indoor setting with tons of outdoor sitting and a dog area. Looks like they've taken a parking lot and made great use of it! The tacos are pricey. Definitely not an everyday meal or a big family dinner. LOVED the house salsa with the red onions and pieces of avocado. The chorizo taco with pineapple was delicious. The queso birria taco was so good! The salsas in general were all great especially the smoked one. Service was awesome! The guy at the counter was so helpful and kind and gave me house salsa to try. The red one lacked flavor but the green was amazing!!!!! The hot sauces in the bottles were all delicious also. Unfortunately the guacamole was disappointing. It wasn't mixed or smooth, it wasn't a ripe avocado, it had huge hard chunks of the avocado and lacked flavor. Definitely needed onions and salt. I wouldn't say this is my go to for tacos, but definitely a fun place to bring friends here and there or from out of town.

I really like this spot! Picnic benches everywhere with games, it's a fun spot. There are food trucks on site of other businesses on site. We arrived right after opening on a Tuesday so it was empty. They have a lot of options, I got the Carnitas Taco and my friend got the November Taco. The tacos were good! I would come back.

Fish taco and a shrimp taco all A++

TOP 3 best fish tacos I had. Pricing reasonable. All the toppings and sauces (hot one too) you could have. Just hit the spot.. ordered , grab a sit and waiter bring the food nothing fancy (don't need it).

Had a lunch here at this cool corner spot and it is a special location! The tacos are special and the condiment stations are terrific! Service is friendly and helpful!!! Plenty of parking in their lot and on the street. There is a separate patio for pets and an outstanding patio for patrons! There is a flower shop and coffee trailer there as well. It's a great spot for families or a date!

The tacos were cold and flavorless. I originally visited the North park Location and liked them but I have been to this location twice and I haven't had good luck.

It's similar to Al pastor without the pineapple though. The meat was tender and the flavor was authentic. My partner liked this one the most! What shocked me was the carne asada. The taco was delicious!! It had a wonderfully smoky flavor to the meat and it was juicy and tender. I have been craving it ever since!! This was my favorite. There's no seating downstairs but if you go upstairs you'll find some tables! Be warned that it's hot upstairs. But since you chow down the food quickly you won't be there for too long anyway. If you're visiting San Diego, this is a must!!

Tacos El Gordo did not disappoint!…read more We were on a road trip from the Bay Area to Ontario and decided on a last-minute dinner stop at Tacos El Gordo in San Diego. We figured we had to make the detour -- and honestly, it was worth it! The lines can get pretty long, but don't let that scare you away. They move fairly quickly, although it depends on how complicated people's orders are. The Al Pastor line was probably the longest, but that's probably because everyone knows what's good! Since we made the trip out here, we went all in and ordered about 11 items: 1 Lengua Mulita - This was my first time trying a mulita and it was amazing. Basically a taco sandwich with cheese, and the combination of the crispy tortilla, melted cheese, and tender lengua was . 2 Lengua Taco - The lengua was just as tender and flavorful as I remembered from about 10 years ago. It brought back some nostalgia and definitely lived up to expectations. 1 Cabeza Taco - Probably my favorite taco of the night. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Definitely a must-try. 2 Asada Tacos - Solid tacos. They were good, but compared to the other options, they didn't stand out as much. 4 Al Pastor Tacos - These were amazing! The al pastor was super flavorful, juicy, and not dry at all. I can see why this line was so long. 1 1/2 Al Pastor Fries - The avocado sauce really brought everything together. The fries, meat, and toppings combined into a perfect late-night meal. We also ordered the grilled onions and jalapeños on the side, which were a great addition and paired really well with everything, just walk up to the ladies that's pressing the tortillas, no need to wait in line. Overall, Tacos El Gordo was definitely worth the stop. The portions, flavors, and quality were exactly what we were hoping for. If you're in San Diego, expect a wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. 5 stars but subtracting 1 just because after ordering the Al Pastor tacos, then waiting for the other lines for the other meats, food went from hot/fresh to warm pretty much, but that's on us since it was only Me and another person.

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

Sometimes, there are nights when only tacos can fix me. It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

Chula Tacos in Nestor is definitely worth a visit if you're looking for authentic, flavorful tacos…read morewith generous portions. Every item we ordered was packed with delicious flavors and made fresh. One thing that stood out was their attention to detail with to-go orders--they provided plenty of condiments, including a variety of salsas, cucumbers, radishes, and peppers, which really elevated the meal. The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times. However, the amazing food and generous portions more than make up for the parking inconvenience. If you're in the area, the Keka Taco is a must-try!
