Was our first time here after passing it many times we decided to give it a shot. Came here around 3 pm and the restaurant only had a couple tables. We were seated immediately. The interior is really cute and little more upscale with a very cozy fire place in the middle and plenty of outdoor/patio seating. We ordered our drinks and appetizers. Appetizers didn't come out until about 15 minutes later for the crab bisque and a ceaser salad. The soup was good but there were multiple pieces of shell that I was pulling out. Salad was mediocre. After another 15 minutes our burgers came via a different server. They were pretty good! Not the best I've ever had but better than basic bar food. Our server was no longer to found after that. We waited for about 20 minutes and no one was to found. Overall the food was good but I'm not sure I'll be returning due to the staffing issue. read more

Been awhile Since I have been to Spartanburg. Opted to stay at the HGI I used back when we had a factory here. Loved the City Range back then and wasn't disappointed tonight. First created by a great bunch at the door. Was seats next to large fireplace that felt so awesome on this cold evening. Started with a tasty cup of Bisque and then had the shrimp and salmon dish. I made a reservation for my husband's birthday, wanted to have a layback dinner with just the family. Let me get the niceties out of the way first, our waitress Jada was fantastic, she has a great smile, attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the good stops here. It will be all bad from here out. The place was understaffed, one waitress had to work 8 tables. It wasn't her fault, but it took her nearly 40 mins to take our order. After that, 45 mins wait for our food to arrive. During that wait, since our waitress was busy I asked another waiter, he was extremely rude to me, telling me, ma'am you need to ask your waitress, I'm not with you, I wouldn't have any idea, I'm over there! With a bitchy attitude. Our steak was cold, broccoli was raw, mash was grainy and under seasoned. After all that disappointment, finally located the manager, turned out she was cleaning tables and fixing lights. Why was a manager bussing around instead of attending to customers?! That baffled us. She should be the one greeting paying customers and explaining "we are busy and a bit understaffed, so service might be slow, while you wait, how about we get you some appetizers and a drink?" Something like that, but we were never informed of anything. She comped our meal, and gave us some vouchers as an apology, but it wasn't about the money, I don't mind paying for my food at all. This was the final meal that I got to share with my mother before she developed an aggressive cancer that ultimately took her. So to the staff of this terrible restaurant, please care a little bit more about your guests' experience. If I order medium rare, don't serve me medium well. Have some semblance of respect. And this was prime rib, so yes the expo, the food walker, and the server all could see that it was blatantly medium well. I see several 1 - and 2-star reviews, but that was not my experience tonight. In fact, if not for a few minor details, this almost hit 5-star for me. I ordered the 12oz Prime Rib. It comes with two sides of your choice. I chose a baked potato and a side of fried okra. Additionally, I chose a nice Red Blend to go with my meal. The meal started with a complementary loaf of bread that was hot, soft, and covered in garlic butter. Delicious! The Prime Rib was ordered medium rare and was received just as ordered. It had a nice char around the edge and had a perfect balance of fat. The baked potato was perfect. Soft and hot. The okra, of course, was just a frozen side that was deep fried, but I always love fried okra. The only negative was that my waiter disappeared after he delivered my food. I wanted to order a side of au jus for my steak, but he never came back. Overall, the food was hot and delicious, and the service was good. We had a party for my sister. We had over 20 guest and only 5 were satisfied with their food! The wait staff was great but the food... not so much! I asked for a medium steak that came well done. It was not properly dressed and the broccolini was hard. The hand pie was sad. Just sad! It was listed as a hand pie with brown butter ice-cream. What came was a crescent roll dough shaped into a round, spread with strawberry preserves, "1" strawberry sliced, and topped with a kid scoop of vanilla bean ice-cream. Went to celebrate a friend on top of it being holiday time. We actually had 2 attentive waiters but nearly at the end of service was instructed that our table had been cut off from alcohol service. This decision was made by a cowardly manager Hailey, who sent her waiter to deliver the news. When asked for an explanation she only said she was going off her "gut" but offered no real reason. First off... it has been years since I dined here after a horrible experience. I can honestly say that management must have taken the negative reviews to heart. Tonight my wife and I had dinner here and it was literally perfect. The waitress was excellent. We both had NY strip. I had asparagus and spinach, my wife has sweet potato and Caesar salad. Traveling to Savannah GA and this restaurant was across from our hotel. We sadly missed happy hour but did enjoy some wine and beer. For appetizer we ordered potato skins which were very good. I brought my staff here for Christmas lunch...we had a wonderful experience with delicious food! Covid issues ..masks are on by wait staff distanced tables and lots of hand sanitizer is available. Now that the fun stuff is out of the way.. my staff and I had a great lunch for our Christmas gathering. The food tasted as good if not better than the pictures.. ( see my pics!) Our appetizers were the always tasty crab cakes...I prefer these to the main entree crab çakes.. they are just better in the petite bite size to me. The tuna tataki appetizer was amazingly fresh and delicious! The pimento cheese was also different in that it was warned and baked and went great with the pretzel bites. Our meals varied ...the Black and Blue was ordered by the majority of my party... They all enjoyed the steaks and the various side dishes of mashed potatoes, asparagus and brussel sprouts.. Now the brussel sprouts here are super tasty and we guess that they may be air fried then put in a pan because they are light and crispy with only light oil... really different and delicious. The other two main dishes were the Bourbon chicken pecan -- not a disappointment! And I ordered the Lobster rolls.. Warm with butter (the option of cold with Mayo a seasoning is also an option). This was also fresh and delicious. Finally we all shared some chocolate torte with raspberry sauce.. two servings were plenty for 6 of us. It's been a long time since I've been to a City Range location, but I have to rave over our experience this past Friday. There were obviously lots of holiday parties going on but there was ample parking. We hadn't made a reservation (recommended) but were still seated within 20 minutes. Impressive this time of year. Our server was Landon. He's an absolute ace. Great demeanor and caretaking. We all loved our meals. They were perfectly prepared and provided terrific value for the price. I come to City Range quite often. They have great happy hour bar and food specials. I will also give a shout out on the crab bisque, it is light with a slight spice, and always piping hot. Today I went for lunch and decided on their Fish and Chips, (I typically don't order this particular dish without some recommendations), but I thought I would give it a try. I will preface my comment by saying I am a fried fish snob. I was relieved for my wallet and my taste buds when the server brought over a beautiful lunch presentation. Upon tasting I found the fish was fresh, tender, flaky, and sweet with very delicate breading...nothing was greasy at all! The fries were hot, fresh, and crispy. The slaw. hmm... I love slaw, "good slaw", but most people immediately toss it, so most restaurants don't even bother with it anymore. This slaw was way better than most. It wasn't just a white bowl of sugar water and vinegar- (Nasty), but anyway, it wasn't just sweet, but had a subtle attempt at savory. We really wanted to like it but service was slow. (We ate there on a Saturday evening - lots of open tables) we got our appetizer before our drinks (2 waters, 1 sprite, and a sweet tea). Our food wasn't hot - only warm for the proteins and everything else cold. The glaze on my bourbon chicken was like a blob of cold brown sugar with pecans. Failed service, that is the reason for the one star. We booked a reservation for 6 PM on Saturday, Sept 21st. We were seated at 5:45 PM. Our order was taken promptly. Everything seemed to be going well. An hour later... no food. When we did get food; it was cold. The breakdown of the service team was glaring. Patrons sitting in a booth for 30 minutes should have prompted someone to check on the situation. Let alone an hour. Staff and management walked by, but no concern. We were obviously there to eat bread and drink tea. Unable to get anyone's attention we called out to our waitress to ask about our food. Cold food was produced. I canceled everything and left. I stopped at the front to speak to the manager, who was standing right there talking. I explained the situation, and he responded with "I am sorry". Ultimately this breakdown rests on the managers shoulders. I do not expect a manager to come by my table, but watching the floor for problems should be a priority. Problems happen, it is how those problems are handled that matter. We visit the Greenville location often, but maybe not now. Really bad experience. read more

She usually doesn't eat a lot and she almost finished the entire dish. My son loved the ribs. It was definitely a big enough dish for 2 people. He could not finish his meal. My husband and I liked our steak very much. The only thing was that my asparagus was a little cold and under salted. We then ordered 2 desserts. Went here for what I thought would be a great steak. Dinner turned out to be a disaster. This was my third time eating at this restaurant and I'm highly disappointed with the pricing versus the quality of the food. Our order came out cold the butter and cheese would not even melt on the potatoes. The food came out extremely fast so it wasn't like it could have been sitting in the window for a long amount of time that means the cook was doing something absolutely wrong in the back. I'm not the one to complain however we sent both meals back only for them to come out cold again at this point I'm highly frustrated and I don't care about my meals being taken care of by the manager. I wanted a nice hot meal. They need to talk to their cooks in the back or check the temperatures before serving guest cold food. I will never return here and from the looks of it we are not the first ones to make this complaint about this restaurant. Also, I used to work in the service industry. City Range is a great place for lunch or dinner. In the last 6 months we have discovered that the bar area is a great place to meet friends and family for an early dinner as well. The service is always great and the friendliness of not only the employees but the other locals provides the ambience akin to many pubs I've visited while vacationing abroad. The crab cake tasted fishy and was mush. The steak medalon was about the size of 1 inch square. Basically 2 small bites. A small scoop of mashed potatoes. I ate my asparagus and potatoes and that's its. I would not go back nor recommend it. read more
