It was our son's birthday, and he chose CityRange to celebrate. None of us had ever been to the restaurant or heard of it before so it was neat he found the option on his own. He turned 18 that day. Other reviews had mentioned making a reservation so we did with Open Table. It was St. Patrick's Day so the restaurant had a good amount of people, but it may usually be busier when it isn't an Irish drinking holiday. The house garlic bread was drool worthy. It came with a side of garlic butter and oil. Next, we had the calamari which was comprised of fried calamari rings, fried spicy peppers, and fried lemon slices. I'm not sure how I felt about all those things, and the portion was a little small since there were a lot of filler items. The calamari and peppers were good to me. Others didn't mind the lemon, but for me, they were just fillers that made the basket look fuller. For my entree, I got the 3 Black and blue filet medallions ( 3 oz each) that are topped with mini crab cakes with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. I absolutely LOVED my meal. Everything on the plate was hands down amazing. I wanted steak and crab cakes so this was the perfect option! The only change I made was opting for the chimmichurri sauce on the side instead of the Bernaise sauce it came with. I don't know how those mashed potatoes were made, but wow! Perfection. My husband got the filet with asparagus, and the kids got NY Strip steaks - one with fries and the other loaded mashed potatoes. First rate. Used the private meeting room for a family gathering. Easy to arrange. Room was set up properly with plenty of space for us (20). Attentive waiters. Always there but never in the way. Visited on a Sunday for lunch with family members. There was a loud band playing in the general open area (which I thought was strange for a Sunday), so we opted to sit in the bar area. There were two people working in the bar area; one was a rather loud-talking male who appeared to be some type of manager. He got into a conversation about his personal education with the table next to us. The young lady who waited on us was new, but was helpful and responsive. She was careful and informative with my food sensitivities. I had a little trouble ordering from their brunch menu, due to gluten intolerance, but finally settled on the Western Omelet with a side of Cheddar Grits. Hubby just got a bowl of biscuits, daughter got a Caesar Salad, and granddaughter got the Kentucky Hot Brown. I think my meal must have been the best, since I actually ate it all. The omelet was the best part - very tasty. The grits were not as creamy as you would expect Cheddar Grits to be, but they were fine. I also had iced tea, which was good. The daughter says she comes here somewhat often, as it's near her work, so I'd guess the midweek menu is a little better. read more

I went here with my mom and sister, one of the ladys who sold them their house said I'm taking yall to dinner after the closing. Just thinking we going for dinner but it blew us away. Very fancy looking restaurant and probably more high class for us but everything was sooo good. I mean my sister and I got different things we were both looking at so we couod share. The appetizer was so good hard to share or save room for our meal. She insisted we get a dessert (which im not much of a dessert person) but they decided on sharing one which was so good too. We decided to have Sunday brunch here after church to celebrate two special occasions. Since we had a larger crowd, I booked a private room in advance (no room charge if spending minimum is met). Our waiter, Holden, was amazing from start to finish! The food was delicious as well. There were a few minor issues due to the kitchen closing at 2:30, but they were quickly resolved. It had been years since I last visited this location after moving away, so I was excited to return recently with friends. Unfortunately, I left disappointed with the quality of the food--especially given the restaurant's $$$ price point, which sets a higher expectation. I ordered the wedge salad with chicken as my protein of choice. The chicken was overcooked, and while the presentation was decent, it didn't resemble a traditional wedge salad. I'm open to creative interpretations, but this version felt underwhelming. The pickled onions, in particular, weren't to my taste. On a positive note, the sweet tea was enjoyable, and the best part of the experience was the great company I had at lunch. I was in Greenville for a two day class. I stayed at the Hyatt Place off Haywood Road, so CityRange was a short drive away. I have been to CityRange multiple times over the past 25 years but it has been a while since my last visit. Sitting at the bar was probably a mistake as the bartender was too busy to provide service. The bar area could have used some cleaning as glasses and dishes were still left from previous customers. A second bartender had to take my order. The steak was cooked to order and very good. Otherwise, service was slow, almost non-existent. I guess Monday nights are a bad time to visit. I am really disappointed as I used to recommend CityRange to friends visiting Greenville. read more

I'm not sure why this place only has around 3 stars? My experience was awesome! My family and I ate at CityRange for Father's Day. The restaurant was quite busy, but we had a reservation so we were seated quickly. Our server was awesome and very attentive. Another nice touch was that they had custom menus that said "Father's Day" at the top of them. The restaurant brings out bread and butter for the table. The bread was nice and hot, so it was finished off pretty quickly by my family. For my entree I got the garlic steak and shrimp. The entree had a fantastic flavor and was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus (I substituted this for Brussel sprouts). Go give this place a try, especially if you find yourself doing some shopping in the area. read more

The same terrible management team runs both CityRange Steakhouse locations, so it stands to reason that this CityRange would also knowingly serve you medium well prime rib when you ordered medium rare and ruin your birthday dinner. We brought in our friends for their first visit to CityRange. The service was excellent (Jake) he spent time to cover the menu and all our questions and was right there for any needs. Food was excellent too, we had smothered tails and the short ribs. Will be coming back for sure. read more

City Range is a long standing local GVL staple for good reason. My favorite is their Sunday jazz brunch menu, which I'm excited to learn has returned after a brief hiatus! The food is always consistent and solid & service is always great. I love to go for happy hour (you have to sit in bar area for the specials) they have some good specials and deals each day. Some of my faves are their soups, salads, and apps (buffalo shrimp and bread in pic - both always so good!) they also have a great wine and cocktail list. I've attended a couple events in their private event room which is also really nice if you're looking for a good space to host a dinner party or bday, etc in a casual environment. read more

Overpriced and overhyped. The food quality has really gone down the last 2 years. It's not near as good as it used to be. The Bourbon Chicken is awful now, with the cheap lunch room chicken patty. Had a great Sunday lunch here today! I have been coming to City Range for over 20 years now and they still serve great food! Today we came after church. I used Open Table to secure a reservation. They had a good crown but it wasn't overly crowded. What we love about coming on Sundays is the live band! The Troy House (4 piece) band never disappoints! They played tunes like Tennessee Whiskey, Love & Happiness and Everybody Wants to Rule The World. They sound great! Our waiter Cody did a great job! He was attentive & friendly and provided wonderful customer service. My salad was awesome and my husband and son enjoyed their meals as well. I was upset that City Range got rid of my Flat Bread salad during Covid but this new Pecan & Gorgonzola salad with blackened salmon makes up for it! We came here as a group and was pleasantly surprised they could accommodate our last minute time change from 7:15pm to 6:30pm on a Friday night. The parking lot was packed when we pulled in, and we were shown to a private room in the back. This was great as our kids were able to have space to run around a bit and we did not bother anyone else. Our server was great, and the kids menu was great as well, offering a kid's prime rib! They also had a few local beers (brewed just for the restaurnat) on tap, which was good. We started with the flatbread with beef tips and some of the beef had grisel on it, which is fine when it is a steak, but not when on top of bread in my opinion. I got the prime rib rare and it came out closer to medium, and I thought the seasoning was lacking. I tried some of the prime rib chili and that was really good! The bread that came with the table was also really good, soft and garlicky with a butter dipping sauce. I would recommend our room for a group or private party. read more

I tried to dine here twice this weekend, and I waited until after the second experience purposely to write my review. The food is always excellent. The issue I have had here lately is the service. I felt both times (Friday dinner and Saturday late lunch) like I was being rushed, and not because there were people waiting for my table. (there were many empty tables Friday evening and we were literally the only folks on the patio Saturday afternoon). Servers are attentive to the point where every time I took a bite, I was being asked if I was ok, and if they could take my plate when I was still eating. Heaven forbid I put the fork down for some conversation. I had ordered a second drink Friday night and declined a box and was immediately brought the bill. Took two sips of said drink and the server was back to take my payment. My friend on Saturday needed to use apple pay for her check and was immediately told she could be escorted to take care of that now. Not after we were done - WHILE WE WERE STILL eating. I likely will not dine here for a while as I want to enjoy the company of the people I am dining with and not be hounded constantly to finish or be ready to leave. read more

We stopped here after a 2 and 1/2 hour drive from Augusta. Since we had a late lunch, we only had appetizers and drinks for dinner at this restaurant. The first thing we noticed, and why we gave it four stars, was when we went in, it was very, very loud. First time in Greenville and looked up steakhouses. This place was close by and the menu looked good. We were greeted and sat as soon as we entered. Nice seating plus a bar area. There is a nice big fire pit in the middle with tables around it. Our server was Cheyenne and she was great. Very attentive, polite and added to this 5 star review. The menu had a variety of food. All sounding appetizing. We started with a Caesar salad. It was huge, enough for 2 and fresh. The Caesar dressing was real creamy and delicious, we also had blue cheese which had to be homemade with big chunks on top . It was so good! Unbeknownst to us, they serve this amazing soft garlic bread with melted butter. I had to refrain myself from eating it all! The chili had big chunks of beef and had a nice flavor. The Brie flatbread was very tasty and also had big chunks of beef. It was a big serving and shareable. The prices were decent. Parking was plenty. My husband and I went to City Range for our 3rd wedding anniversary and I am 37 weeks pregnant. We had recently watched "The Bear" on Hulu that left me really wanting short ribs! Seeing City Range had a short rib entree with asparagus and pimento mash, I knew this was where we were going! And it 100% did not disappoint! My dinner was just delicious and I had leftovers for the next day as well! My husband got the prime rib, broccoli, and loaded baked potato and he enjoyed his dinner as well. The atmosphere was very pleasing and our waiter, Casey, was excellent. He gave us a menu tour, suggestions on choices, and was overall just a great server. Our waitress was friendly and explained the menu to us. My wife and I ordered the same thing. Prime Rib medium rare with mash potatoes and broccoli. The steak was somewhat salty considering the price. My wife ordered a salad and they failed to add cheese to it . We enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The waitress kept the rating average. Mind you, the restaurant was empty. We mentioned that it was our first time and he seemed offended and asked why. We commented that we lived on the other side of town to which he replied that is no excuse. He wasn't being humorous, just being a jerk. The waiter came and wanted to highlight "the most important part of the menu" the wine list. We told him that we don't drink and that left him deflated so he turns over the menu and comments that the salads eat like meals. We are two chubby middle aged women but we got into their skinny booths so I'm not sure what that was about. It's been quite some years since eating here but that's due to restrictive food allergies of Honey. We were here for a group event in April. I know, it's now June and apparently I had started my review then as I saw this draft about the shrimp & grits. Unfortunately I cannot find my photo of said dish, though if I would post an empty plate that may suffice on "after". Though City Range is known for the meat, I opted for a Shrimp & Grits dish that was quite delicious. My Honey and the other two gentlemen at our table all chose steak which was the popular choice from the other tables. They said it was good, would have been better if juicier and moist. Perhaps that's what happens when all the steaks were left under warming light so the entire room could be served together. But the pieces Honey gave me when I dunked it in the buttery grits was tasty but I was definitely glad I opted for the shrimp and grits. Perhaps due to the fact that it was a group event and our host had already paid the bill, the customer service was not at the level you would expect here. Then again, I've heard from others on how difficult it is to get good service nowadays and it's not by any means a young generational culture as our server was of the more mature chronological persuasion. When she had asked for menu choices and Honey had asked about gluten free and dairy free option, later when she delivered the salad to him with crouton and cheese on top was not ideal. Not her fault completely since I'm sure the kitchen simply was trying to crank out 15 dishes. Kudos for her to get a different one. Our table has a difficult time getting drinks - both water and adult beverage. She may have been working the normal dining floor besides our private room. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt with a group event as honestly, I've been to several in SC and outside and it makes you greatly appreciate restaurants that have both great food, great service, great environment, great experience. Maybe it's because I've had that here several years ago and so wasn't wowed BUT, there IS a private room, there are wide range of menu options that would fit all sorts of eaters, so this would be a place to consider. Anyway, because MY dish was delicious and I had no problems eating the bread, salad with all the stuff on top, and the dessert which the chocolate cake was really good and had Honey's piece, I'm giving 4 stars but if we were on our own eating here, it may have dropped a star for service. Then again, I'm sure her service could possibly be better with more one-on-one table service. read more
