We were really looking forward to this dinner, but the experience fell far short. The atmosphere and staff were pleasant, and we were seated promptly for our 6:30 reservation. Drinks were taken quickly, and everything started off well. Unfortunately, service slowed dramatically after that. It took over two hours just to receive bread, charbroiled oysters, and onion rings. By 9:00 p.m., we were told our entrées were still "about 30 minutes out." At that point, we had no choice but to leave -- which meant missing our concert. The staff did apologize, and we appreciate that, but it doesn't make up for a completely derailed evening. What was especially concerning was that new tables were still being seated while existing guests were waiting hours for food. Very disappointing experience for any restaurant! read more

Happy Birthday to my mother. Mother's choice for her birthday and it was a treat for all! Whit and Deana made sure we didn't miss a beat from appetizers to cutting our brought in birthday cake! We had a party of 10 from 6 yrs old to 85 and everyone had a great experience. Appetizers were calamari, shrimp cocktail, and Nola Shrimp. All had rave reviews. The calamari was so tender it melted in your mouth. Some of our main meals were surf & turf with lobster tails, shrimp gnocchi, and duck those folks were all the clean plate club award recipients. Shareable sides I strongly support ordering the Mac and Cheese it was macalicious! The bread deserves an encore as well. All around rave reviews. I wanted to provide an update following my visit on Tuesday night. I ordered the charbroiled oysters, which had good flavor but were noticeably soft in the center and didn't seem fully cooked through. Unfortunately, the following evening I began experiencing significant stomach discomfort that has been ongoing for a couple of days, along with lingering cramps. While I can't say with complete certainty that it was related to the oysters, the timing makes it a strong possibility. Located on the 10th floor of the AC Hotel, Level 10 is not a chain restaurant, it is Spartanburg's Finest Steak and Seafood restaurant. Level 10 offers both indoor and outdoor seating, the also offer a beautiful private dining room with its own private balcony, it is the sixth restaurant opened by the Rick Erwin Dining Group. Walk into the elegantly decorated modern dining room, filled with plenty of natural light from the many large windows that offer those impressive panoramic views of the city is quite impressive. Equally impressive is the attention to detail added to the upscale furniture, such as decorative booth pillows, that makes this dining room so comfortable and unique from many others. Whether it be at the bar or one of the dining room tables, there is not a bad seat in the house. What really enjoyed was the fact this is an upscale NON chain steakhouse that offers a progressive menu that even a vegetarian can order happily from. I have said it before and I will say it again, I a truffle freak! So naturally I had to try the Truffle Potato Croquettes. Crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, surrounded by their smoked paprika aioli, absolutely delicious. I also adore a good house made pesto sauce. Traditional pesto is a thick, green sauce that tastes bright and herby from the basil, and salty and rich from the cheeses and pine nuts. A good cream-based sauce comes in a bit milder and much creamier. I especially enjoyed theirs since it is more cream based, it comes right in the middle, not too heavy, not to light and creamy enough to coat the Gnocchi like a fine gravy. The food was fantastic overall, with the ravioli standing out as a highlight. The Filet was excellent too, though I wouldn't say the New York Prime was worth the price. We went around 6pm, and there wasn't a big crowd, but they had already run out of Brussels sprouts, which was disappointing. For a top-tier restaurant, it's important to be on top of things early in the evening, especially when there's a big event like the baseball game in Spartanburg that night. The restaurant, located on the top floor of a beautiful hotel, has an incredible setting. However, I felt the lighting could've been a bit dimmer to create a more intimate atmosphere. The staff, while very friendly, seemed a bit undertrained. Simple things were overlooked--like no utensils when it was time to eat and no water when we sat down. We were asked to order multiple times in a short span, and they forgot our scallops (which were actually quite good) as well as my Old Fashioned. Given the high price point for the meal, I think the service should be flawless. At $300 for two people, I can't overlook these small, yet important, mistakes. I really want Spartanburg to rise to the level of Greenville's restaurant scene, but for now, this place is far from there. With some more focused staff training, I'd be more than happy to return, but for now, the service needs significant improvement. read more

My husband and I ordered same thing different temperatures- when brought out they said they did t know who's was who's . My daughters was well done not medium rare . She sent it back and didn't receive her meal until all three of us were completely done with our meal . Waitress spoke to mgr , he offered us free dessert - we declined . This place is at the top of the AC hotel and is very modern and seems to be a wonderful place for celebrations or date nights. They do require reservations I believe and they do have a business casual "dress code". The place itself is very stunning and the balcony is breathtaking. They will wait for the full party before you're seated. They automatically serve you with water and have a large menu with other drinks I assume. I was a little disappointed that the waitress did not mention any special or popular drinks or cocktails before I noticed the menu was taken away and I didn't get a chance to look at it. The menu itself doesn't really have a variety of foods, it focuses on steak and seafood. They do have a nice special which is three courses for $38 which seemed to be a good value considering all the sides are separate or a la carte from the entree. They also do serve some baked bread which is scrumptious. I ordered the three courses which is a selection of items and I chose: gourmet greens, the salmon and the crème brûlée. The gourmet greens were delicious but I wouldn't order this by itself at all. It's a very simple salad with only a light dressing and blue cheese, it seemed to lack flavor besides the cheese. It also says it came with cranberries but it indeed did not. The salmon was very flavorful with its salad underneath and had a very interesting earthy flavor. Definitely a more adventurous taste. Of course the crème brûlée was delicious and not too sweet, I loved the addition of the blueberries. As far as the other pictures I have, my boyfriend ordered the she crab soup, the shrimp and grits and the brownie sundae. I did try the shrimp and grits and it was very very tasty. If I did like shrimp I would 100% order this. It was full of flavor and different spices, a complete contrast to the salmon. They also do have a sparkler for birthdays and other celebrations and with the birthday a free dessert. Overall, it is a must go to for a special night as the experience and ambiance is entrancing but the food itself anything absolutely mind blowing. This was the first time coming here. Came highly recommended from a man we talked to during the day. The restaurant was located on the 10th floor of the AC Hotel. They even had Patio seating outside but it felt too muggy to me. We decided to eat inside. We Wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversary. This is definitely a place you can go to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. The waitress and wait safe were are all very accommodating and made sure we didn't need anything. When the waitress found out it was our anniversary she asked if we wanted some champagne on the house. That was a wonderful added touch to dining here. The bread was hot, crunchy on the outside and inside hot and soft. The dip was good too! We both had a Salad which had dried cranberries, almonds with a vinaigrette dressing which was very good. We both got the She Crab Soup as well and it was topped with sherry. Creamy and it was delicious with pieces of crab meat in it. The entrée I picked was the filet mignon, came with mashed and asparagus. I ordered a side of of some Bernaise sauce to have with my steak. I ordered it rare and it came out cooked perfectly. We have a great many professional dinners here as it has a private room. Generally, the food is decent but the service is slow, but friendly. Tonight, we had two female servers who were rude, overtly, so much so that I will be letting every rep I deal with know and we will no longer use level 10. There are a number of other steak houses in Spartanburg (the peddler, prime, etc) that are equally as intimate, have similar quality (or better) food, and clearly have better trained, more professional staffing. Oh, and to the two women who laughed at me on my out of your restaurant after blatantly giving me such poor service tonight and clearly enjoying it...I'm not sure which is more funny, the fact that you are not good at your job or the fact that you relish in it!? read more

On a recommendation, we went here to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Hotel is beautiful and is located at the top of the hotel with a great view of the city. Restaurant is very nice inside with a very intimate ambiance. We had a reservation and upon being escorted to our table, the GM asked if this was "daughter's name" birthday reservation and wished her a happy birthday. I am a simple man but thought that was very nice and attention to detail about a patron. This is one of those places with multiple servers. Always someone asking if we were good to go. Menu is pretty much steak and seafood. Filets range from about $50 to $70 with no sides. The sides are supposed to be family style. I thought it was kind of weird that the sides were family style at such a fancy restaurant. There was no real option to just order a single serving of sides. They did have a $42 3 course meal which was perfect for me. It included salad/soup, then 4 oz filet/seafood option, and key lime pie/creme brulee. The steak could have been bigger but it was delicious. One of our friends had wine which they truly enjoyed. I don't care for seafood but someone in our party got crab cakes and they said they were very delicious. We all enjoyed our meals and had a great time eating and talking. I went to level 10 yesterday the service was just unacceptable, the bartender took a long time to bring out menus at first, were slow at getting my orders and when bartender says I don't not know how to make a certain drink that isn't a complicated or a super complex order, I loose faith in the service and after closing out. The bartender held my card for a strange reason and when I asked a manager to get my card back he said and I quote, "I think I saw your card on the floor." And wonder why I didn't tip the way they wanted. To add to the that, the Bartender IRENE saw me at a near by restaurant and began harassing and verbally attacking me for the leaving a tip she didn't like. She even admitted to me and my guest that she was slow at service but thought she deserved better. I have dined here several times with friends but never with my husband, so we decided this to be our date night spot. On the 10th floor of the AC Hotel, this is a place of great atmosphere, great views (when it's warm enough), and yummy food. The chargrilled oysters is what keeps me coming back. Our server was Ariel, and she gave us the best service we've had at any restaurant for as long as I can remember. She was very engaging, attentive, answered all of our questions, and helped me choose my main entree. I'm getting to the food part...we enjoyed every bite so I'm just going to tell you what we had. I can't tell you the last time my dining experience from start to finish was perfect. We started with a dozen of the chargrilled oysters. They are $2.50 each oyster, a little pricy but worth trying! The crawfish chowder was a special that night, so we tried it. It had a great flavor and paired with that awesome bread...amazing. The wedge salad was one of the best I've ever had. Ariel knew we were splitting it, so she went ahead and had that split for us. The Bleu cheese dressing was so creamy and light, not clumps of Bleu cheese. It was topped with a nice crispy slice of bacon and an onion ring. I decided on the 3 for $32, which is an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I chose the gumbo, salmon, and creme Brulee. Level 10 was wonderful! We had an early supper at 5pm Saturday. Our server, Anastasia, was fantastic. I had the gumbo ya ya and my wife had the she-crab soup. Both were delicious. The bread that was brought out was hot and fresh. The rib-eyes were perfect (medium rare) and the added truffle butter on top made them succulent! I was staying at this hotel for a work trip and decided to head to level 10 for dinner because I didn't feel like getting back out into traffic. It DID not disappoint. Everything was awesome. The staff was friendly. I did not like the homemade steak sauce. It's very ketchup based but to be fair, the waiter told me it was. The steak cut like butter and was cooked very well. The asparagus and mashed potatoes weren't that great but the steak made up for it. The she crab soup was awesome and so was the creme brûlée. I had my heart set on the fried chicken with tomato grits until the waitress told us it was a thigh. I passed. Not a fan of dark meat chicken. I ordered the Mother's Day Picnic which consisted of Chicken Salad- Fruit Salad and Shrimp Salad . (They accommodated my shellfish allergy with a green salad) and assorted croissants. (The assortment was 2 plain croissants.) I found the chicken salad (made with dark meat) bland. Just loaded with chopped onions no seasonings. The fruit fresh was delicious. The salad good. I was under-whelmed with the meal. Perhaps i made a bad choice in my selection. I look forward to coming back with a group and trying assorted menu items and hope to improve my dining experience. Diner beware. I heard this was the best of Rick Erwin. Excited to go. BUT. The best part was Deanna, our server. THE BEST. It's was so warm in the restaurant she had to fan herself. They wear a heavy cotton jacket. Really, management? It 90+ degrees and humid these days. The girl that seated us saw I was struggling with the heavy chair and just stood there. My friends offered to help with the chair and when I was seated - she pushed the menu "at me". It seemed she was in a hurry to put the menus down so she could go do something else. She placed the wine list in the middle of table blocking us from seeing each other. The bread comes in a round cloth basket but u have to cut the bread. ? How can u cut a round load of bread in a 7" cloth covered round basket? The basket has high edges. Bread is ok - the first delivery was not quite baked and was doughy. The second delivery had the Parmesan topping well done. We ordered a dozen oysters and the server stood there while WE arranged the table so the plate would fit. My friend ordered bernaise sauce and it came COLD with a thick film on top. Looked like the egg had curdled or been sitting in the cooler. "The cook (no chef here) told Deanna I will make up a new batch". The bernaise should be in a water bath or thermos? For service. The second attempt looked like a mix as it was a bit lumpy and not thick and definitely no flavor. The must have been want the grill cook meant when he/she said "I'll make up a new batch". When my friend asked to get a replacement sauce , the food server leaned across the table to pick up the sauce boat. My steak seemed like it had under the heat lamps. The surface was firm and dry. And the whipped potato was lukewarm. My friends said - send it back. My opinion of that is - they will eat. I will watch. Then when I get my food they will watch me eat. WHAT? I will not spend another dime giving this place a second chance. Why? My friends have been here before but from the reviews it appears this restaurant food and service is inconsistent. if it's good it is not the norm. First in order was the staff which appeared to be very inexperienced and had no concept of first rate customer serve. Server appeared to be very inexperienced and had no real knowledge of the menu or wine selections. Food service was very slow with appetizers coming at least 45 minutes before entrees. Also had some confusion over an item that we didn't order. Dinner was not a total a disaster, but ifLevel 10 wants to be considered a top tier restaurant they should strongly consider upgrading the staff training and food management. They are fortunate that they have no real high level competition in town. It's basically a good view with mediocre food and service compared to Nashville, Asheville, and Charleston. read more

After reading one of the other posts that referenced a "trashy Manhattan," I think I missed the entire concept of this restaurant. It wasn't my impression that everything was "reinvented". If that was the intent, I would much have preferred the original. After spending 12 hours in airports and on planes I wanted nothing more than to have a cocktail and a good meal. My Manhattan didn't remotely resemble any I've had before and I can't say that I'm a fan of thick, cloudy and bitter. The lighting was dim so my fault for missing the quotes around "carbonara' that might have clued me in that this was not going to be a pasta dish. In fact, my dish resembled a bowl of overly salted oatmeal and mushrooms. I take full ownership of not sending it back. I was tired and hungry and it was too hard to get the servers attention as it was. I chalk it up to a very pricey experiment. read more
