Where do I start, the name itself is one of a kind so is the service it provides. Upon entering the fresh scent of coffee beans being churned in the back takes your breath away. You are transported to the streets of Spain close your eyes and take it all in. The coffee is so well prepared each sip brings on such a euphoric feeling. I dont like stuff too sweet and this was perfect! ---I lost my donut in my purse and two days later had it anyways - and it was remarkably good- actually tasted like bread and a donut and not some fried disgusting thing you'd get at a donut shop! The avocado toast and ham and cheese toast were good and light, they both had yummy flavors even though they're pretty simple(not in a bad way). As a newer resident of La Mirada, I love finding local coffee shops in the area. I was really excited to try this place as it was recommended to me by someone. I came mid morning on a Tuesday. It was packed with people on laptops. And the shop had a lingering smell of burnt toast I usually judge a coffee spot by their Spanish latte, if they have one. And they did! Unfortunately this one was nothing spectacular. Something about it seemed off. I also got their version of a sausage McMuffin. That was good! I always appreciate when a small coffee shop serves actual food and not just pastries. I was excited when I saw they offered coffee flights but, since I was taking the coffee to go, I wasn't sure if that was an option, and I didn't ask. This is a clean modern shop with a very friendly barista working the day we visited. We ordered a Flat White & Cortado. They both had nice latte art and were served in ceramic cup and glass which is something I really like a lot. I feel it elevated the experience greatly. Unfortunately the flavor of the drinks was not very good. They had a nice smooth texture but tasted off. I'm not sure how to describe it other then to say it was almost sour and had an unpleasant after taste. We did not finish our drinks. Came on a Saturday, it was surprisingly very empty with one person studying so seems like it would be a nice place to study with large windows and good lighting! I didn't study here though so unsure how the wifi is. We ordered a strawberry ricotta toast which was pretty small and bread was thing but overall tasted good. It was a little pricey for the size. The honey lavender oat latte was delicious! Strong lavender flavor. Service was pretty quick, ordering occurs at a kiosk. Parking is really easy as it's located in a plaza. read more

I have to say I do love their coffee but their matcha is okay! Lately this girl, Simran is really rude. She has an attitude and talks to her coworkers about customers as they leave. I feel she purposely made other drinks that were ordered after me because I had a few questions about the strawberry matcha. In the pictures it shows strawberry on the bottom however mine did not come that way and barley had strawberry flavor. Her words, "I hate when customers are so rude and don't interact it makes it awkward" but she in fact makes it awkward and is rude. The good: located in a plaza with plenty of free parking, they don't charge for alternative milk, various drink options (coffee, tea), and they support local businesses. Inside the shop sold dried flower, refillable soap, and other things. The not so good: cortado tasted too bitter and the overall drink temperature was too hot. Unsure if it's a one off, since many reviewers really like this place. Might give it another try if I'm in the area, but probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

LOCATION - Nestled in a compact, "one lane" parking lot, Civitas Coffee is easy to find. With a long interior space, they have a handful of tables + seating. I believe they have WiFi but I didn't see too many outlets. The inside is clean but fairly basic. FOOD - This coffee shop had been on my list so I finally tried it for the first time. I went with an Iced Spanish Latte with whole milk and it was so delicious! From the looks of it, they use coffee beans from Jetty. You can really taste the rich boldness of the beans but it's still creamy and just sweet enough to make it smooth. One of the better tasting coffee's around! Came here mid afternoon on a Friday to try their matcha! My mom ordered a hot blueberry matcha with oat milk and I ordered an iced strawberry matcha with oat milk. The blueberry matcha was so good & I have to give credit as I've never seen blueberry being offered as a matcha flavor. I couldn't really taste the strawberry flavor in my iced matcha; however, one of the ladies that was working asked us how our drinks were and she offered to add more strawberry flavoring for me. I was almost done with my drink so I opted out but I do appreciate the check in & offer to make it better. There are some tables inside to sit at & there were some people sitting working on things throughout the time I was there. I've been looking for blueberry matcha lattes around my area and stumbled upon this place. I decided to come by on a Monday morning, and there are a few people sitting and doing work in the cafe. I got the regular blueberry matcha latte and it's not bad, although it's not my favorite. I think the blueberry flavor wasn't distinct flavor which also affected the matcha. The price was also $6.70 which is slightly higher than usual matchas. Service is fast so maybe I'll be back to try other drinks. read more

Great cortado and a great latte. My wife really loved her drink. You can taste the quality in the espresso and the prices weren't outrageous. Staff was friendly and patient vs. too hip and cool to talk to you. We found them in a random search online because we were nearby and so happy we have them a try. We enjoyed the welcoming service from the baristas, and each of them were super helpful in guiding us through their popular options. We ordered a hot Honey Oat Latte and it was a comforting and warm drink to start the morning. The drink had a uniqueness in flavor that differed from a lot of honey oat lattes we've tried. The honey was more apparent in this drink--and richer. It contained a light sweetness that soothingly passed down your through like a gentle candy. The flavors blended super well with the coffee and this drink is definitely something we will return to get. We also ordered a hot Strawberry Rose Latte, a seasonal drink introduced during their Valentine's season. This drink wasn't floral, but contained a delicious tarty sweetness from the strawberry. They had a cold brew that can be layered with a strawberry rose cream top as well. This drink was so delicious, containing a light rose essence, espresso, and strawberry syrup. Unfortunately this drink is only seasonal, but we will be coming back for this drink exclusively! Civitas offered plenty of toast options and pastries! We got an avocado and butter croissant that tasted amazing! They have great food options, but prices are pricey. The service at this location was amazing and everyone was so caring and attentive. They're known for their matcha latte and Spanish latte, so if you want to try a popular option, go for those! They also have a great environment for studying as most customers are considerate of noise. They also have a self checkout kiosk to avoid the line! i've visited civitas twice now and both times it wasn't too busy or loud. they play lofi music and its a quiet environment good for studying or getting some work done. not that much seating - a couple of tables and a windowsill bar with high stools. there's a big parking lot! they also sell items from small businesses and refillable soap which is cute to look at while you're waiting for your drink -no charge for alternative milk which is always a plus -iced cookie butter latte (3/5): this is a seasonal item. it didnt really taste like cookie butter though :( -hot honey oat latte (5/5): strong and flavorful! the honey makes it fairly sweet though if you're not a fan of that overall, a solid cafe to grab a drink and do some work! read more
