Eh...not worth it for the price. Meal for two was around $80 and was mediocre at best. We got the soup, calamari, lobster tail, and ahi tacos. The soup was probably the best, although it came out with a solidified layer on top so it had clearly been sitting out for awhile. The calamari was overly salted and not well breaded; the aioli it came with just tasted like mayo. Our entrees came out while we were still eating our apps (a big pet peeve if mine). The lobster was definitely way too salty and chewy, the dipping sauce was flavorless, and the cauliflower rice (which I typically love elsewhere) was very bland. For a $30 dish, that was extremely disappointing. The ahi tacos were strange...definitely tasted weird eating seaweed salad in a taco, the flavors didn't mix well in the tortilla. The ahi itself did not taste fresh, but the salsa and seaweed salad tasted okay, nothing special. Service was very slow. Took forever to get our appetizers and we had to ask for more water and napkins. read more

Usually really enjoy this place with along with my lady. Poor review comes simply from two things. 1) The Crab Fries had a black curly hair melted into the cheese. We informed waitress, I am understanding enough because I worked in food service for a decade. But, also been Serv Safe for a decade and if hair is getting into food, then that is not all! 2) Sadly after manager came out, instead of just taking the fries away and apologizing. We were told how weird it was because no one in the kitchen had long hair. Implying we put hair in our own food, classy. Let's not forget the she crab soup that was supppsed to be on the fries was missing. Fries were taken off bill and we were offered more food from a kitchen that just got hair on the food. Make of that what you will. Still tipped our waitress because aside from missing the black curly hair on our food and that the food was incorrect to begin with, she was otherwise on point. Casual decor. Downstairs is dominated by a bar, trendy seafood shack looking tables and chairs. We ordered the oysters and hush puppies to start. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the oysters! This is a good place to get crab legs, crab, and usually oysters-the oysters 9 out of 10 have been good but this last visit was a total let down. The oysters were not cleaned good and they were super gritty and the meat looked not so great. We got a dozen but only ate about 4 before we gave up. Drinks are usually good here too, but this time seamed like it was watered down or a light pour. This time around, not their best, however I'll still go back b/c they have friendly service and their beef tips and smothered fries are tasty. Must have been an off day. read more

STEAMED CLAMS! That is the main appetizer I reccommend for everyone. We tried almost every item on the appetizer list but the steamed clams stood out the best! Had the most flavor, wasn't too thick or creamy, everything was just right and awesome about them. The reason for stating creamy, and thick was mainly for the other entrees we has ordered. We got the crab rangoon, she-crab soup, spinach and artichoke crab dip, and the fish & chips. Okay so we didn't get every item, but we got a lot for 2 girls and a 1 year old baby lol. Though we are pregnant lol. Anyways, the crab rangoon was amazing except for the sauce they give you. I would have preferred something more sweet rather than what they served. The sauce was sweet, really sweet, but had a random kick of spice. Unexplainable. The crab rangoon itself though was creamy and delish! not your typical rangoon either where it comes with cream cheese only, but the ones here have actual crab inside mixed with cream cheese and other flavors! The she-crab soup was okay. I'm more of a fan of clam chowder, which the she-crab was kind of a chowder but the taste tends to get repeated and made me not want it more and more after taking spoonfuls. The spinach and artichoke was amazing at first, but gets boring quick. I do think that because we ordered a lot of things with cream we got sick of what we ordered fast lol. The fish and chips were the least of my favorite though, the fires were good but I was never a fan of fish & chips to begin with (friend ordered not me.) I've been coming to this place for years and they are always top notch. The food is always amazing (lobster roll for the win) and the drinks are always delicious (orange crush is a must try). But they went above and beyond this past weekend for my boyfriend's birthday. Chris Sellers, the owner, accommodated our group. He also went and bought industrial fans because the weather was so hot! And on top of that he surprised my boyfriend with a birthday present! Despite us being semiregulars this is just the type of place that it is in the type of owner that he is. We tried CZ Finz for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I can't believe what we have been missing out on! We have been back 2 more times since. We live dangerously close. We've had the fish & chips (Discounted on Fish Friday"), crab cakes, calamari, pow pow shrimp, and the key lime pie. All have been fantastic. The calamari is lightly battered and not rubbery at all. The crab cakes are as they should be - held together by a small amount of breading. And Shaba, our waiter was awesome. He obviously loves the restaurant and is proud of it. He had so much information on their process the things the restaurant does to ensure quality meals. This is definitely our new favorite! read more

Came here on a Saturday morning. Not sure what to really expect. Ordered the lobster roll and it was nice and refreshing. I was hoping for something more savory, but I guess I was expecting a different kind of lobster roll. The green onion added a great freshness and jazz to the roll. I found that for the size it was a bit overpriced and I wouldn't pay $15 for it again. The fries were hitting and the best part of the whole meal. Seasoned well and not dried out. My fiancé ordered a crab cake sandwich and it was a nice size. The sauce paired with it was delish and I used remains for dipping my fries. Food is overpriced and can be very average. Drinks are always super syrupy. I would suggest to get outdoor seating as much as possible because it seems like they like to test how loud and obnoxious their music can be. The fried apps and entrees should be avoided. I ordered the fried oyster app and each piece seemed to be 3/4 batter and 1/4 actual oyster. The hush puppies were hard and bland. I did, however, enjoy their fresh shucked oysters (but really, who can mess that up?), their steamed shrimp, and their she crab soup. Are there different cooks for fried and steamed foods? Because their non-fried dishes are loads better. Service is usually pretty good here. Staff is attentive and always very nice. I'd go here if a majority of my group voted for it but I don't think I'd openly suggest coming here. read more

We had the oysters which were so fresh, they were perfect with a kiss of the ocean. We also had the lobster roll...omg so delicious the butter roll was grilled perfectly and the lobster was amazing being poached in butter and had a tarragon mayo. They were light with the fries but the food and service was perfect. You have to finish it off with the bread pudding. read more

Well to say the least, their crap dip is phenomenal! Drinks are always on point. Especially the tequila sunrise! Always feels homey.

So i gave this spot another shot and man have things improved. The last time the fish and chips had very little chips...and the mac and cheese was cold. This time I had the crab bisque..excellent and hot..(temperature)..oysters on the half shell..great..and an oyster po boy...excellent...very pleased with my meal...hoping that they just needed time and this last experience was more the norm. read more

This review is for a Grubhub delivery that apparently I was too lazy to leave on their website. Not only was the food great (the portions were large enough for me to have a lovely salmon sandwich at work the next day) but the driver left without my cheesecake and the restaurant called me to say that an employee was on his way with the order! Which ended up being a double order of cheesecake. How can you not love this level of customer service? And the salmon and burger were great too. read more

I'm no longer sure what's going on here. The food can be very good, but there seems to be other issues. Party of six seated outside - upon ordering, was advised by the server that the wing appetizer would take 20 minutes, and the entrees would be up first so we may want to think on that. Fine - weird since they're wings, but thank you - crab dip, please. After more than 35 minutes, three identical lobster rolls, two identical chicken tender orders and one salmon BLT arrived.....simultaneously notified at that time that there was no crab dip. Wonder if the wings would have arrived first. No two of the common orders looked the same - apparently the backed up kitchen was just slinging food with no checks. Three orders of brussel sprouts with the lobster rolls....two with heads and one with only leaves. Cocktails came out short one beer - server said beer was on the way.....didn't think she meant 15 minutes. When the server arbitrarily asks if you want to talk to a manager based on her sole observation of the experience, several things have already failed.....starting with, when the server knows there is a compounding issue, don't ask - just fix it. The manager is for your benefit, not ours. Suspect understaffed on a holiday weekend and a resultantly overmatched manager who clearly lost control. read more

2nd time I've visited, had the fish and chips both times, and very pleased with the food. My wife had the oyster platter, our friends had the cedar plank salmon and the shrimp & grits. We had been here almost a year ago and was in the area. Hubby wanted to stop here for lunch. We stopped in last friday around 1 to avoid lunch crowd. We had the same bartender, Albert M. He only gave us drink menu's when we asked. Had some knowledge of beers but only what was the most popular selling didn't know anything about other beers in cooler. We looked over menu and then looked for Albert, he finally came out kitchen putting his phone in his pocket. We ordered and he never once came back to us or interacted with us until our food came out about 30 minutes later. He spent his time talking to a guy at the end of bar by door or in the back on his phone. We had several questions about other menu items and cocktail on menu but he never acknowledged us. Our food was goo. We split the Rockfish with crab topping covered in She Crab soup with fried potatoes and fried brussel sprouts and bacon. It was enough for a light lunch in the heat but filling. We were very happy with food. Getting Albert's attention was another story. We had napkins over plate and push from us while we waited for him to finish his conversation before he even noticed we were done. I asked for check immediately as I was worried how long it would be before we would get his attention again for our check! Food was very good, service was non-existent. Go at night, you may be able to avoid Albert at the bar and actually receive attention for your tip money. read more

I came to CJ Finz today because of my favorable experience a year ago. I am sad to report that my experience today was not so favorable. The Good: My partner and I only waited a few minutes to be seated even though the place was rather busy. Our waitress was very good, very pleasant and considering she was the ONLY waitress for the entire restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, she was really quite prompt in waiting on us, bringing us refills, etc. She gets an A. My partner and I ordered two She-Crab soups, the Fried Oyster Po' Boy and the Crab Cake Sandwich. The She-Crab soup had good flavor and there was a decent quantity of crab meat. At $8/bowl it was a bit more than I typically pay for bowls of crab soup (typically $5-6 per bowl) at other seafood restaurants in the state. The only other restaurant where I've paid $8/bowl had considerably more crab meat. My partner said the Fried Oyster Po'Boy was very good, but he says that about any fried seafood. The sandwich was a good size and seemed to have a reasonable quantity of decent sized oysters. The Po' Boy came with fries and cost $13. My crab cake sandwich was smaller than I remember from the previous year. As I recall from my previous visit, it overflowed the bun and was easily 90%+ crab meat. This time, not so much. But what was really disappointing is the crab cake itself was mostly filler. No more than 25% of the crab cake was actual crab meat. For $16, that's not acceptable. For the two of us, 2 soups, 2 sandwiches (not entrees) and 2 non-alcoholic drinks (and of course tax) was $55.00. Pretty pricey for lunch for two. I don't believe I will be making a 3rd visit. read more

I enjoy going to CJ Finz for some beer and a quick bite but the last time I was there made me want to come back more for how they treat patrons. It was a Wednesday night and my friend and I were at the bar and just chatting with the bartender and taking advantage of happy hour when a girl who was extremely under the influence of something comes in. It's always tough at a restaurant when an unruly patron is there disrupting the ambiance but I though the staff of CJ Finz did a great job at trying to deescalate the situation while at the same time making sure that non-intoxicated patrons were comfortable. Our bartender made sure to advise the intoxicated woman to not invade our personal space (she kept kind of laying on top of us as she could not stand) while another staff member was very kind and gentle with the woman and tried to get her a ride to wherever she was. They also made sure to try and gently remove her from the restaurant as her presence was extremely distracting / disruptive. Unfortunately the woman was very unruly and eventually was arrested outside of the restaurant, but the staff at CJ Finz tried their best to ensure her safety despite her being extremely rude and obnoxious. I never planned on writing a review but I thought that if management at CJ Finz ever reads these posts they should know that their staff definitely puts guests first which is what a restaurant should be proud of especially when the food / drinks are already good :) read more

Fun! This past Saturday we wanted to go to a place that was different than the usual hangout and we came across this restaurant on the internet. It was the weekend that the Caps were playing and we arrive there an hour before the start of the game. I was a little Leary on going there due to the mixed reviews of this place. But what impressed me was the quick response from management of that restaurant Whenever there was a negative review. So we ended up going and upon arrival the folks there couldn't have been any nicer from the point of the host at the front door too the two guys that were bartending. Evidently they took some of the comments to heart and fixed them. The bartenders were very nice! They talked us through their menu and drink specialties....i has the lobster roll...100% lobster, the best I've had! Will come back again soon! read more

This place is a great addition to Old Town Manassas. I have been here twice now, and both times have had similar experiences. First of all, the service has been exceptional. The servers hustle like New Jack City. My drink never ran dry. As for the food, I have had a few dishes, both at lunch. She crab soup over French fries- this appetizer is as awesome as it is messy. Each bite was better than the last. She crab soup- very good, not quite what you might find in Charleston, SC, but very good none the less. There was some nice chunks of crab mixed in. Lobster roll- This was the best thing I tried. The roll was buttered perfectly, and had the perfect light toast. Each bite had this beautiful CRUNCH sound to it. The lobster was prepared perfectly. I love it when restaurants have a dish that forces you to come back. The restaurant was clean, open, and inviting! Plenty of TVs with lots of sports rolling.
