One year later.....what happened to this place? Went for Mother's Day. Decided to go early (4:30ish) to avoid long wait. No problem, it never got busy and for something like Mother's Day, should have been packed. Crab cakes "were just OK and served with "cold" smashed potatoes as stated by husband. My stuffed rockfish was also just ok. My complaint is with the service. As I stated not at all busy, many empty tables, and we still waited over 30 minutes for our entrees and anything else we asked for. Trying to occupy a three year old and a 1-1/2 year old for that length of time was not easy. My daughter-in-law and I wanted dessert, key lime pie. We waited so long for the pies, finally told server to put them in a takeout box (how long does it take to slice two pieces of pie!) Never going there again!!! read more

This was our first time to the restaurant. We were quickly greeted and seated. We ordered an appetizer of steamed clams. They were extremely salty. The owner brought a new serving of clams without the broth and they were still salty. While they weren't what we wanted, the attention from the owner was great, especially since the restaurant was packed. On a good note, we totally enjoyed our sandwiches. Pretty awesome food. I got the shrimp tacos and boyfriend got the crab cake sandwich, both were great. We also shared a dozen of oysters. All the seafood was super fresh and delicious. I love that they have a juke box (touch tunes). My group had a blast playing silly and good tunes while having a few drinks after. This will be our new go to spot when in the area. I was actually a bit surprised at how good the food was as the seafood I get outside of DC tend to be a little rank tasting and usually made too greasy or is overly salty. They really need a sign that says "Please Seat Yourself". One of the waitress looked at us like why aren't you sitting down and we were wondering why aren't we being seated? I assume more than just locals dine here. The man decided to have a Caesar salad?! It was a small salad for $6.49 and an extra $4 for additional chicken, which I think is quite pricey. The verdict - tastes like any ole Caesar salad. I ordered the crab fries and 1/2 lb spiced shrimp. The shrimp is lightly seasoned with obay, unlike some places that heavily drench it. I can taste a little of the obay after peeling the skin off. The crab fries were good. They reminded me of poutine, except with SHE crab soup and cheddar cheese. After having my first lobster roll 2 years ago, I have been aching for another and it has been tough to find a place locally that made them. CJ Finz had good reviews on them, and I was so excited when I was in the area to try one. Staff: Very friendly. Location: In old town Manassas, a great spot right by the train. The resturaunt was clean, but much smaller than I thought or the pictures made me think it would be. Food: I was so, so, so disappointed. I ordered my food to go, and it was hot and ready when I picked it up. The fries were delicious, and my lobster roll was stuffed! However... I didn't care for it. Something about the taste was off. I didn't care for the sauce or dressing it was mixed with at all. In fact, I couldn't even finish half the roll. After a few bites, I didn't want to keep eating it. I can't pinpoint what exactly it was, but I did not like the recipe at all. I was so disappointed. Overall Review: It's clean with a very friendly staff and I would definitely return, but try something else on the menu. Advice: If you're looking for a delicious lobster roll, the Red Hook Lobster Pound food truck in DC is the only way to go. read more

I can't say enough positive things about CJ Finz. I'm from Delaware, and I've started to make it a point to ask those I'm visiting if we can get brunch there. I've had nothing but good experiences with the servers and food each time I've been there, and this last time was no exception. The service was AMAZING - thank you, Sonny! They had a few large parties but the service was still prompt and genuine. One thing in particular stood out and it's what motivated me to write this review. My friend had asked if they have iced coffee, to which Sonny replied no. We weren't disappointed as it wasn't on their menu, but Sonny was more than willing to make the coffee. I decided to order one for myself as well, and I'll be honest: I wasn't expecting much. Usually when servers try to make iced coffee on a whim it doesn't turn out the best. This iced coffee though? Wow. The minute we took out first sip, my friend and I both looked at each other and we couldn't contain our excitement. It was DELICIOUS!!! We had our other friend order one as well, and we had to order a second because we drank the first so fast. CJ Finz: please put this on the menu!! Customer service is GREAT! They welcome you and are all around attentive, friendly and great company. My husband and I have been 3 times now and are hooked. I'll start by saying that they do a wonderful job of keeping the place clean! Important during COVID. They meticulously clean the tables and the menus. The server Jess was amazing. If I could rate just her it would be 10 stars. She was sweet with our kids. Jess was amazing and attentive. The food was just okay. The food came out piping hot, so that was good. The she-crab soup was very very thick. I like my soup velvety with a touch of Sherry. It was very hot, which I like, but just too thick and more gravy-like. It did not have the classic taste of she-crab soup. The Oysters Rockefeller were good, but not amazing. The calamari was tasty--no complaints there! The chicken tender kids meal was approved by the girls, and they gave very generous portions. I wanted to try more food, but was stuffed full of flour roux from the she-crab soup. Again, it was good, but just not what I was expecting. Again, everything else was nice, from the cleanliness to the service, but the food was okay. The kids meal though... yum! read more

Absolutely the food was fantastic . I had the crab cake Benedict with hollandaise sauce on the side. It was very flavorful no additional seasoning needed. The breakfast potatoes however did taste that they came from a frozen bag. The crispy French toast was delicious. The kids crab legs and fries were good. It was so cute the bartender helped us crack them open. The french fries did appear as though they were frozen. Will be back ! read more

Can't say anything about the food: we kind of walked in, paused a moment, and walked out. The music was so loud and aggressive, we couldn't stay, even though we were very hungry and really wanted to try this place. The first time we wanted to try it, we had kids with us: same thing. The description on Yelp says its "good for kids", but I didn't want to bring them in there. It just has an atmosphere of some sort of a "tough" bar: non-existent decor, aggressive music... I ordered take-out today. I've never eaten here before but I'm happy I tried it. Everything was excellent. The crab soup which was included with the rock fish and the lobster Mac and cheese were the best I've ever had. We also had wings and beef tips from the appetizer menu which were really good. The oysters were very flavorful. I didn't get to taste the fish and chips but my husband gave it rave reviews. The rock fish and salmon were a little dry but it was probably because the order was take-out. I can't wait wait to try it in house when this is all over. Until then I'm happy to support local businesses. When I'm able to eat in house, I'll most likely give them 5 stars. As a gout sufferer I don't find myself going to a lot of seafood places. But Precious likes seafood, and she was disappointed with that new seafood place on Liberia so after she stopped worshiping the porcelain god, I asked her to meet me here. It was a nice afternoon, very pleasant, so we asked to be seated outside. They have a deck that you have to walk up the stairs. I imagine it can get hot up there, but it was perfect for us. The wait staff gets a good workout going up and down those stairs. Also they permit pets up there. Some of the other diners had their dogs with them. Anyway, the food was fantastic. They have a wide variety of seafood, and they know how to cook it too. They also have a decent variety of beers including some from local breweries. Precious got some rock fish, and she couldn't finish it. The next morning she made me eat it for breakfast. Fish for breakfast? Ew. But it was awesome. Try the She Crab Soup or the She Crab Fries for an appetizer - I get one of those every time I come here, and neither of them disappoint. As for the entree, I typically get the lobster mac and cheese with broccolini or the lobster roll with fries - both delicious! The lobster mac and cheese has a mixture of cheeses, which is scrumptious. All the servers and bartenders are nice and will check up on you shortly after something is brought out to you to make sure you're enjoying your meal or drink. read more

We have been regulars at CJ Finz for the last two years and come at least every other week. We always tell people that they have the fun atmosphere of a local pub but the menu of a five star restaurant. The menu has tons of really nice options from simple fish and chips, steaks, to the best scallops you'll ever have. They also have a full drink menu with lots of local options. It is also a great atmosphere for kids with lots of high chairs and great food options for them. I have celiac, which is an extreme sensitivity to gluten which makes going out very difficult, but they always take great care of me and have lots of options with tons of flavor and I've never gotten sick from their food. They make me feel comfortable even though I have a difficult dietary restriction. The staff is always amazing, and they feel like family. They must really take care of their staff since most have been there a really long time, which is important to us. In particular we love JD and Michael, who are so much fun and do a fabulous job. They treat our two little girls like princesses and they love coming back because of it. This is my first ever yelp review, but these folks deserved the extra praise. I can in pretty late on Thursday. It was 10 pm and I was really craving some salmon. My friend and I decided to come here cause ... they have seafood. So I got their plank salmon and my friend got the lobster Mac and cheese. The salmon was awesome !
