This is a quaint Los Angeles neighborhood cafe. The customer service was great. The entire staff is friendly and attentive. Our server checked on us several times to make sure we were pleased with our meal. This restaurant is known for its soul food flavorful breakfast combinations. Ordered CJ's using a 3rd party and it came no issue. Packaged like normal and hot on arrival. The delivery wasn't the issue, but the food was. The Spanish omelette was disgusting. It lacked flavor, just bland thin eggs stuffed with bell peppers and onions. The sauce was watered down and barely there. I paid for American cheese but it was never added. The potatoes again were bland just covered in onions and bell peppers, no seasoning and no flavoring. So disappointing and a waste of money. read more

This establishment has been in my other neck of the woods for several years and they are very consistent. My go to is usually the chicken wings with waffles and grits with the homestyle potatoes or the fried Catfish with scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. This is just the breakfast or brunch spot for this part of Baldwin Hills. They stay busy. I like that they also have a selection of fresh squeezed juices and elixirs. These drinks are amazing! The waitstaff are friendly and punctual people who deliver fast and effortlessly. I mean, they are moving! No slouches over here. I'm also impressed with the back of house. They keep the food coming out HOT! Thank you CJ's cooks ...you guys rock! Thus is a well oiled machine with everyone giving their all. Today, I felt like being a Maverick and I ordered the steak and eggs with onion and cheese. Delicious!!!!! Delicious!!!! Delicious!!! I will continue to enjoy my meals here. I'm a very dissatisfied customer!! CJ's did us grimey on the last day of 2023! First off, the wait to pick up my food was an hour. HORRIBLE! No English speaking waiters, food is NOT GOOD. They serve soggy food, because their waiter has too many costumers to serve. Out of the whole restaurant (30 + people) it was only 2 waitresses. And only ONE of them barely spoke English. read more

My wife and I love this place! We went around lunch time, and even though it was very busy and somewhat crowded, the staff is still very attentive to your needs. I wanted something that wasn't actually on the menu, a ground beef burrito with egg and cheese, it was made to perfection, and was delicious! My wife had the waffle with chicken wings and eggs and said it was very good. Whenever we have to go to the CareMore center, we usually come here for a bit to eat, because the food is so good. read more

Came in for a quick breakfast, Just me and my laptop. The place has a good family feel to it. Even though they were a lil busy I was able to get a seat right away. The waitress came right over and took my order. I sat and watched everyone that came in was greeted by the staff. The staff is super friendly and professional. Definitely return customers coming back for some good food. The place had groups with as many as 10 people there having breakfast. My chicken sausage meal came out and it was delicious. My daughter and I ate here for breakfast. My food was ok. My daughter ordered a breakfast burrito without meat. She is a vegetarian. When the burrito arrived the eggs were grey and over cooked. The burrito tasted like meat products. Only one bite was taken and we requested something else from the menu. The waiter responded that we would be charged for the burrito and that wasn't how restaurants worked. We laughed and asked for the manager. She continue to refuse and we stood our ground. Eventually she gave in and we reordered something else. It appeared that she was just afraid to return food to the kitchen. The burrito was taken from bill but the threat of it being on there really upset our experience. We packed our food and checked out. That's it for CJs. We were insulted and disappointed. read more

We found another hidden gem in the Baldwin Hills area. We ordered some Pancakes and fried wings and all. They also have catfish on their menu, in which I'd like to try next time, Our experience was great here. Nice staff and good food. We will be back for sure. read more

Love this place! Breakfast is fresh, staff is friendly and food is good and flavorful. I usually get Soulfood breakfasts. Chicken wings and eggs or catfish and eggs, etc. Only thing is this catfish is thin - more like sole than filet. Need bigger/thicker pieces but other than that, the food is seasoned well and the portion size is very good and so are the drink sizes. I prefer this location to the one on Pico as I don't remember that location being as tasty as the LaBrea location. They also do Soulfood lunches/dinners but don't have Mac & cheese. I like coming here with my coworkers but it's not my favorite food for breakfast. I would like their veggie omelette more if they chopped the veggies finer. My omelette looked more like a fajita! Our school orders breakfast burritos for the staff sometimes and those are pretty good. Sometimes more potatoes than meat/eggs. The service is a little slow. But they are kind. read more

Hole in the wall place, cute diner setting. I have ordered from here before, portions are generous. Had their french toast recently, and it was SO good. Also had a chorizo and egg burrito and their breakfast burritos are mostly potato which is fine. This place is also pretty popular weekend mornings so get there early and be prepared to wait. Salty thin pork chops so thin they was twisted from frying, The fresh fruit had no taste either. My cousin ordered a catfish sandwich; the filet was not as thick as a penny; they actually tried to butterfly a already thin cat fish filet; unbelievable . To make matter's worse there was a $3.00 charge for the onion on her sandwich and when she complained it was like so what. This was the worst food and service I have ever had here. The waitress basically ignored us after leaving the dishes even though she could see that we wanted assistance. I don't know what happened to this restaurant but I won't be back again. read more

If you like comfort food then this is a good place to get it. I went here for breakfast after passing by so much and never knowing it was here for so long. I finally gave in. At the moment there is no dining in but they do have a tent outside where you can sit. Simple enough, the food was good. Service was cool too. read more

CJs I would say is your classic Diner experience meaning if it's better in my opinion then a I hop or Dennis. They serve fresh juice you can make up your own or select from their menu. Ordered through Uber eats- the waffle I ordered was good, however, the carnitas torta that was ordered had the smallest amount of meat with a large amount of lettuce in the middle. I was pleasantly surprised when I had a taste for fish eggs and grit and saw this place. Gave it a try and was satisfied. Fish fried perfectly. I like loose grits a bit more but I was still able to get down with the thick textured grits and they give you plenty. Would I order again? Yes I would. read more

Customer service was terrible I felt like I was looked at as a dine and dasher instead of a paying customer. I was only checked on when I ordered my food and when it was check time other than that I was watched from a distance by two Hispanic employees. I ordered chicken and waffles which comes with eggs, but was charged for just chicken and waffles separately they also said on their yelp page that they had vegan options. The only vegan options available are fruit, and when I ask for a to go cup, I only received a cup and had to get my own lid from the top shelf because when I asked for it, the Hispanic employee walked away. I will not be returning the food was okay but the service makes me never want to give them another dollar read more

I'm used to coming here and enjoying the food but todays order was a fail. I ordered a breakfast burrito that has home fries, eggs, cheese, salsa, and choice of meat. I chose bacon the 4 burritos I ordered and there was probably "half" of a strip of bacon chopped in there if that, A pinch of cheese, and probably the equivalent of 1/4 of one scrambled egg in the burrito and that's giving extra credit. I just can't believe I paid 35 dollars for 4 potato burritos. He says their system was down but I'll have my remaining 2 orders in 3-5 min. 12:20, the delivery guy delivers the 3rd order, and only 3 of 5 pizzas from my 1st order. How is that??? Why is my first order not delivered first and why is it not the FULL order? So I call the 888# number AGAIN, and ask for the # to the restaurant as the one I called there was no answer. I also asked the delivery guy to call the restaurant itself. They answer and tell him that it's right. I show him my email order confirmation and he lets them know I'm still missing 2 pizzas. The man who I spoke with before at the 888# is still on the phone. He says it's the delivery guys fault as he got the order wrong. No...he's not the one making and filling the order, he's only delivering them. The delivery guys tells me he has to now go back because they are making my last 2 pizzas. It's 12;34pm at this point. So much for my pizza party at 12! My last 2 pizzas don't arrive until 12:50pm, too hot to eat, with the toppings sliding off of the dough! At this point, I'm annoyed and disgusted with the service. I thank the delivery guy and tell him to let the restaurant know how dissatisfied I am! Thank you Braazos for a HORRIBLE and uterly DISSATISFYING 1st time experience! Thank Domingo (delivery guy) for being kind and understanding...it wasn't your fault! I won't be ordering from them ever! 1st impressions are lasting impressions!

Love this place. They have good American diner style food, Mexican, and some soul. I personally get the Denver omelette every time, and you should too. Or the egg sandwich. Or the club sandwich. The staff are very friendly, and their prices are reasonable, especially for the portions and the quality. The atmosphere is bright, clean, well kept, and cheerful. I love walking in there in the morning to the smell of coffee and hash browns. They've got a good kids menu. I've never taken anyone there who didn't enjoy it and want to go back. I was there on 3/2/22 @ 930am. I walked in while waiting to be seated. The spanush speaking lady asked for my vaccination card extrealy rude then she asked for my I.D. the spanish people in front /behind me she didn't ask them for anything. While sitting the big tall spanish guy at the front counter came to my table while i was waiting on friends as we come often. He told us he refuse to us because i asked why didn't she ask the spanish people in front and behind me for their vaccination & ID cards? He refuse to answer. This is a nice, friendly neighborhood café with good food. I liked the grilled cheese which we had with potato salad. I have been here mostly for breakfast and they are fast! The omelets are the best. I like the "healthy" one a lot. The French toast is nice, too. I come with lots of friends sometimes and sometimes by myself but it is all good! The service is consistent, the servings generous and the food is up to standard every time. read more

They bring chips and salsa, but only fill the salsa cup half way leaving you to already be a bother to have to ask for salsa within 5 minutes of arriving. Bleh Nice staff though. read more

I am a regular customer here! Anything in the menu is delicious, but I recommend the French toast, if is your first time. Food takes a little longer because they make it fresh, so don't be upset if you wait a little more than normal because is very worth it. read more

First, my dog is a well-behaved service dog and weighs approximately 80 pounds, not 160 pounds. Calling her "massive" and putting "service" in quotation marks is unnecessary and disrespectful. Her size does not determine whether she is a legitimate service animal, and a service dog is not required by federal law to wear a vest, ID, or any other identifying equipment. What also stands out to me is that you clearly remember who we were and the specific details of our interaction. That tells me you knew exactly what happened, yet instead of addressing the situation professionally, you chose to mock us publicly and question the legitimacy of my service dog. We actually like supporting small businesses, which is why situations like this are disappointing. But I can also understand why more people choose businesses that are willing to adapt, educate themselves, and provide professional customer service rather than simply saying, "We've been doing it this way for 14 years." As I originally suggested, you should update your Yelp information and consider posting your no-pet policy clearly so customers know what to expect before arriving. More importantly, I would strongly suggest educating yourself and your staff on the difference between pets and service animals and how these situations should be handled. And yes, I gave you one star without trying the food because we were refused service before we ever had the opportunity to eat there. A customer's experience with a business is not limited to the food. We found another restaurant that welcomed us and handled the situation appropriately, so we were able to enjoy our morning elsewhere. At the end of the day, that's our choice as customers. I genuinely hope you take the feedback constructively. Because while businesses can choose to stay exactly where they are, customers also have the choice to spend their money elsewhere. Professionalism, customer service, and a willingness to adapt are a big part of that decision. Nasha came to the phone and patiently listened to everything I had to say and then graciously offered to remake the ribs without the sauce. The ribs without sauce is what I expected, crispy fried ribs with moist meat inside. She also included Mac and Cheese Lobster Balls. The ribs, Mac and Cheese Lobster Balls, and Chicken Wings are delicious. The Macaroni Salad is pretty good too. Not only did Nasha remake the ribs and give me some Mac and Cheese Lobster Balls to try, she personally delivered them to me. Now, how's that for excellent client service. The fact that someone in your small truck purposely knew the chicken was not edible but they still packed it up and sent it out to a paying customer is just unacceptable and shady AF!!
