I used to live in the area ten years ago and frequented Vee's Cafe back then. It was a great cozy brunch coffee spot we loved. Happened to be in the area recently and decided to pick up a sandwich and some coffee for old times sake. Wish I hadn't done that now and left good memories as-is. The spicy chicken panini i fondly remembered was now 21.75 and wasn't as delicious as it used to be. Overall quality was not the same- now it comes with fries instead of a side salad. The sandwich itself did not justify the price tag. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how they can price this sub par panini at over $20. Is this West Adams pricing? It's more than DTLA! The coffee wasn't as good as it used to be either. They use the cheap syrups. I am so disappointed with the overall experience. Off of first impressions it looks like a cool brunch spot, I just stopped in for coffee before going to the park. The staff was really friendly the place was massive. They offer valet parking but there wasn't much parking off the street. The coffee was good but it was also like 90% milk and 1 shot of espresso. Also this was $8.50 for 1 coffee..... why is this so expensive?? I would really like to come back and try the food but the initial visit is deterring me from coming back. EDIT - I'm updating my review because today I found out that their vanilla latte is actually $5.75. They charged me 8.50. Even with tax it should be $6.33. It is a bit hidden and has a very relaxing atmosphere. We had waffles that had a lot of fresh fruit and well presented. It was a good combo with good scrambled eggs and bacon. We prefer waffles that are a bit less dense. The back is where the party is at, with an experienced live acoustic guitarist brightening the mood in a rustic setting surrounded with lush plants. I thought it was funny, but some of the operations felt hectic here. There's not really a physical menu you can look at so be prepared while in line (unlike us first-timers ). I recommend scanning the menu from a table instead of the take out QR code by the front because it doesn't have the full menu. The cashier was kind enough to help make some recommendations and helped us through the initial confusion. One of the orders was forgotten and came at the end, which I can overlook due to but with the huge line for dine in and take out. Most of the dish qualities did not suffer from the busyness.
