This was a fun and impromptu find for us in Palm Desert! We were tired of hotel food, nervous about venturing out in COVID and Veronica made us feel great! We sat outside on the front deck, the food was yummy and came out quickly and it was exactly what we were looking for! Kids and adults loved the chocolate chip pancakes, the waffles are YUM and the eggs are great too. Everyone had so much fun that we went back the next day too! This place is not to be missed! My husband had found this place on trip advisor and I also looked it up on yelp... We were not disappointed! On our 4 day trip we came here twice! I had the breakfast sandwich both time and enjoyed every bite! My husband got an omelette with banana pecan pancakes the first time and then got the breakfast burrito on the second trip! (we shared the same pancakes the second time around!) everything was delicious! On the first trip, my husband called ahead of time to see what time they stopped serving breakfast and CJ himself said that they normally don't serve breakfast on the week days but that they would do it anyway cause it hadn't been busy! The servers were all friendly and the experience was great all around! Btw guy fieri might need to visit this diner! All the locals seem to know how great it is! read more

Cozy diner, it was packed when we got here but we were seated right away. I wanted the French toast but the waitress said they were out of the bread... at 10am? So I settle for the short stacks pancakes and a side of sausage patties. Nothing too special, pancakes are pancakes. My mom got a breakfast burrito, which she said was ok, nothing too special, and the banana pecan pancakes my sister got was huge! Very rude service. Waitress who was serving us would not understand that we wanted coffee to be served after we finish breakfast. She kept bringing it to get it out of her way fast even after we politely asked her to serve it after we are done. She started making sarcastic comments with her coworkers, threw the mugs with coffee in the sink. I look at it as intolerance to minorities. Very disappointed. Food is below average, prices are unreasonably high. Will not recommend. read more

i tried cjs on a whim because my boyfriends work is close by, and i pick up lunch for us for his break. this place is cute, homey, and has that good mom and pop feel. i've never sat down to dine, only pick up, but every time has been a positive experience. the waitresses are sweet every time, and i've never had a bad experience. i definitely recommend the turkey wrap! that's what we get every time. :) read more

Came here two days in a row. For breakfast and lunch. Lunch was a normal menu of food, but it was quite good and better then what you would expect from a local diner. The atmosphere is what you would expect in Palm Desert and at a diner... An older crowd. The waitstaff was fairly attentive and got all of our orders correct. Breakfast was also good. Best thing about this place though is the diner prices! The food is a great bang for your buck. Almost forgot to mention the blueberry muffin we had. Looked and tasted homemade! If you are looking for a quick bite to eat, CJ's is the place to go. read more

Another summer another breakfast at CJ's. Took my parents along this time and they loved it as much as my family. It will always be a must go to when we're in Palm Springs. Corn beef hash, French toast, pancakes and biscuits and gravy. All so yummy. read more

This review is based solely on service. I only sat on the patio to have a cocktail. I had two large dogs with me. The patio only had a few patrons. I noticed some table way over to the side where we would be comfortable and not bother anyone. When I went to the door to find out if they are dog friendly, two employees came up to pet the dogs. They are VERY dog friendly. Sat at the table I had my eye on. They brought water for the dogs. I enjoyed a $5.00 margarita. Then they asked if they could give the dogs t-r-e-a-t-s. After a long day all over the Coachella Valley, the dogs were happy to receive treats. The patio was very relaxing and I thank my server and the ladies who all made us feel so welcome and comfortable. read more

Came here for a quick lunch with a coworker and had their fried chicken special. We were seated promptly, friendly service, were attended to by others as well and not really overly bothered. We had a delicious breakfast here at CJ's Diner today. Pam was our server and was very friendly. We ordered the 2+2+2 (2 eggs, 2bacon, 2pancakes) and also the Omelette (jack cheese, bacon and Ortega Chiles). Everything was great! The omelette was exceptional and was hot, right to the last bite. Service was great. This place was a nice find, off the beaten path, and we enjoyed a quiet table on their small patio (this was during COVID). I would definitely recommend this spot. read more

My husband and I are back in Palm Desert for vacation. We couldn't wait to come to our favorite breakfast spot. I'm sorry to say service and food quality has declined here. We were not greeted very pleasantly. The coffee was not hot and the food was lukewarm. The first day we got back we were greeted by Alberto who was super pleasant and attentive. The dishes were good but I wouldn't say it "knocked my socks off." I'm rating this based on the the customer service. It's a good place for breakfast and lunch. It's hidden among small shops. The omelet is good but a bit small. Santa Fe chicken salad is wonderful with big portion. There are more chicken bits than salad. The dressing is very unique with spicy taste. Taco chips are very crunchy. The service is fast and friendly. We really liked the food and went back the next day. We ordered grilled chicken with avocado sandwich and California salad. They were wonderful as other items. read more
