The damage I did to the drive required Five Star's clean-room service, and they quoted a flat rate to me in advance. The effort of recovering the data ended up being very challenging and took longer than any of us expected, but at the end Five Star was able to recover over 99% of the files--and I'm happy to say, the 1% of files were not important to me, so the 99% they recovered covered everything I needed. Despite that significant extra work, they invoiced me only for the original quoted amount. I'm happy with the results but also the professionalism. When I first reached out to Five Star, they got back to me at the start of the next business day and, after answering a few follow-up questions, I had a quote and scheduled to drop off my drive the same day. Vahan and Elen were particularly helpful and professional the entire way through. It was really a pleasure to work with them and I can't recommend Five Star enough!

My kitchen appliances are all old, so I thought why not. When my gas range broke they denied the claim. Most absurdly, they said that I had not performed "preventative maintenance". Since the major item that was broken was an electronic control unit, a black box, hard to figure exactly what they mean. Anyhow Asurion are scum. Avoid them and certainly don't purchase any appliance plan from them.

I contacted CKK Computers about fixing my DVD/CD duplicator, after transporting the unit from my home in Los Angeles to my office in Glendale one of the 4 drives stopped working. I just needed to be fixed or replaced. Whoever answered the phone was friendly and confident letting me know the hours of operations and for me to come over and drop off the unit. I walked into CKK Computers and immediately within minutes they fixed my unit. Basically, the DVD/CD drive tray became jammed, probably during transportation from my home to the office. These guys are professionals and experienced technicians that were able to take care of me immediately. I had called another Computer Repair shop in Glendale, near CKK Computers, on the phone they guy became nervous about fixing my multi-drive DVD/CD duplicator, said he stopped working on "those" a few years ago and only focuses on Laptops and Desktop computers, something about copyrights and sharing. I am a DJ and music producer, I don't sell anything, my music and/or remixes are given away for FREE at my events, promotional material. I also duplicate PowerPoint Presentations, Data (like my interactive resume) and Videos (Video Editing for overhead movie projection to give at reunions or weddings that I DJ at). The computer repair industry is alot like the auto repair world. Tons of idiots think they know way more than they do and that they can fix any problem. You pay them and often will get your machine back in worse shape. Then there are those who are good at it but looking to make easy money. They will charge you an arm and a leg to do easy stuff that a simple user can handle. Lastly, are those who are simply great at what they do and believe in honesty. CKK is this third type. They charge a fair price for real and honest work. Some people want any problem fixed for free or for a little cost but hey, these guys are trying to run a business. I have no problem paying what these guys ask because I know I can trust that it is necessary work. I also know they are charging for the cost of the work and the business to make some revenue, that they won't charge the cost of several hours of labor for 30 min worth of work. These guys I would have to call "true IT scholars." They seem to know about nearly every kind of equipment and problem; it seems obvious to me they love this field and never stop learning as much as they can. read more

I had a great experience with Chris at CKK Computer Repair. I showed up last minute while I was in a serious rush, and despite that, Chris took the time to see me right away without hesitation. He worked quickly and efficiently, clearly knowing exactly what he was doing. I had an issue with my new operating system, I even called the windows customer service but they couldn't do anything. The issue is, when I plug in my charging cable, for some reason my laptop trying to reboot. And I tried to call some other repair shops, and they had no idea what's going on. Finally, I called this company and Chris told my he knows what is going on. So yesterday I left my laptop with him, and today he called me saying it is done. I came and we tried to plug and unplug power cable and everything went smoothly, no reboots no issues. Chris know what he is doing, price was fare. read more

My laptop had a bad hard drive. I was very worried about my information. Chris the owner took the computer and promised me he will do his best. The next day I had a new hard drive installed and all my data recovered. I still had to put my user settings back but that was no big deal. I shut off my computer, went to Yelp and was happy to find someone who specializes in Apple/Mac. I then asked my La Canada Flintridge friends and one person endorsed him whole-heartedly. I called Jack and lucky for me he said to come over in a couple of hours. He has a nice, bright office next to his house, not far from the freeway exit for Trader Joe's. He's so easy to work with--smart, personable and clear. He knew exactly what needed to be done. I have a backup service, but having done a backup install before, I knew that would take days. Jack took care of everything and had my laptop back to me that same day. There is nothing like the security of knowing your computer is only in the hands of one trustworthy person instead of sitting in a backroom, handed off to someone you've never spoken to. Also, Jack is an authorized Apple tech and his fees are fair. He also helped me choose the right router (I was about to buy something I would have regretted). I have told all my Mac friends about him so I thought I should get around to posting here. Two things you should know: 1) Be sure to call first, he only sees people by appointment and 2) He takes cash and checks, no credit cards. If you have a Mac, this is your guy.
