Dennis and Aaron are genuinely some of the most genuine people ive ever met , they have helped me more than id like , sometimes i just keep pushing a car and it becomes problems i caused , anyways other people ive also recommend to go there , have been taken care of to the full mile. When i got my first car at 18 , 2003 impala , it had so many problems because it was my first car and I was 18 and I really didn't take care of it, but they were always there for me and fixed it and never charged me a crazy price. They can fix everything from sport to classics to teslas to regular cars ( ive seen it in person for anyone who thinks im bs ) . Eventually I gifted it to my 79-year-old Grandma and she hasn't had a problem since . I thought it would be scary considering I had so many problems with it, and shes older so reflexes are a little late ( sorry gma ). Dennis and Aaron fixed it so good shes never had a problem to this day .They work so hard everytime i pass or drop by , and ask me about my life and show me around the shop and when im there i feel more like home than just a mechanic shop on the road. I do enjoy cars and understanding it. I ask 1000 questions and they never seem irritated All because they're customer service is so genuine that im 23 now and still would never go anywhere else. Before finding them, I checked with several shops and got prices "all over the map"...most seemed too high, and most don't machine the brake disks anymore. Clanton Fast Brake gave me a very fair and reasonable price. I was prepared to wait for several hours in their waiting room, and was pleasantly surprised when, in about an hour and a half, they were finished. I called the day before my service and scheduled a front brake pad replacement. I was quoted a price Of $235. I showed up the following morning and dropped off my car, and was offered free McDonald's breakfast! I walked to work, which is only a block away. I picked up my car at lunch, and it was all ready to go. The price??? $138.78!!! The average for my area (I looked it up the night previously) is $150-$203, without tax! The guys here were truly nice, and even plugged my tire that had a nail in it for free I would most definitely use this place again, without hesitation. read more

Dennis is hands down the best mechanic I have ever used. He's not always one for small talk, but he knows what he's doing, and he will do it right and reasonably priced too. I wouldn't hesitate to bring any vehicle to his shop. He is always honest and isn't going to try to sell you on something you don't need. He will tell you exactly what's wrong and if you're willing to listen, he'll explain in detail the problem your vehicle is having and whether it's critical to fix right away and how long something will last, even providing practical suggestions on how to prolong the use of the vehicle until you can have the work done. His son Taylor is now working in the shop as well. He is usually the one you will deal with at the counter and is nothing but pleasant to deal with. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Although, he is slightly more talkative, which is probably shy Dennis likes him up front. I would highly recommend bringing any vehicle you're interested in buying for a pre purchase inspection. It will cost you a little bit ($35) but you will know exactly what you're getting. He saved me from two lemons that way. read more

After reading the raving reviews on here, I was confident in my decision to use them when my clutch needed replacing. They drove my car around the parking lot and gave me a quick quote of "around 600.00" I called around and that price seemed to be pretty comparabile to other shops in the area so based on the good reviews here, I decided to go w/Clanton. When you are new to an area, word of mouth and customer reviews are really all you have to go on. Mistake. They were rude and impatient and acted like my questions were offensive. Hurried me on the phone and wouldn't give me any specifics regarding the job or how long it would take. I'm not dropping my car off with anybody who throws a number out after driving my car around for 30 seconds and then doesn't have the time to "discuss" the repair w/me. Especially for six hundred bucks. Decided to go w/somebody else who ended up doing a great job and didn't mind me asking a few questions. I'm sure Clanton isn't going to go out of business over one lost job, but I don't feel they are deserving at all of the rave reviews they received on here. We used Clanton twice when we first moved here. The first time was a leaking rack & pinion. I was told it could wait a few months and just to keep the power steering fluid full. It couldn't wait - about a week later my car caught on fire from -you guessed it- the power steering fluid leaking. The second time, my husband's check engine light came on and it started misfiring so he took his truck straight to Clanton. They broke the spark plug trying to remove it, ended up having to take it to the dealership to remove it. It somehow ended up needing a new engine, when we said thanks but no thanks they charged us several hundred dollars before they would release the truck to us. ALL they did was break a friggin spark plug, they did no actual work on the truck. Nope, never again! read more

Went back for the 4th or 5th time to have additional automotive work done and I believe Dennis is an excellent mechanic. Daryl did the work on my truck this time and I like him very much. PROS - 1) They are not dirt cheap nor are they top dollar - I believe they are the middle ground that I seek and a good value for the money. 2) They seem very experienced - like they may have been doing this for 30 years or something. 3) They have been quite good at estimating the time and price for specific work. 4) Have talked me out of items I considered having done, suggested cheap solutions where possible and never tried to upsell anything. 5) The shop is super clean - you could just about eat off the floor which is always a good sign. CONS - 1) The mechanic work seems excellent, the customer service not so much. Dennis is somewhat abrupt and short on the phone - I think this is just his nature. I will say he has taken time with me on the phone, but these guys are all business. 2) Don't expect a call to tell you your vehicle is ready - we never get one. Great customer service is nice - but ultimately all the REALLY important aspects are dead on. read more

Timing belt replacement on a Honda Accord....I called several dealers and got quotes. They ranged from $680 - $750 using available coupons / incentives. My neighbor tells me I should look at Clanton Fast Brake Auto, "They're friendly and less expensive," he said. I call, and ask the girl who answers the phone for a quote "timing belt and water pump replace on 2005 Accord." She left to talk to the mechanic and returned to the phone with, "it'll be $400-$500." SOLD!. I dropped-off my car 2 days later. Confirmed price with girl while a mechanic with "Dennis" on his shirt sat within 3 ft of us facing our direction....When I picked up my car, the shop's namesake told me it was $723.00. I recanted my conversation with the girl and he said, "Well, she's new; it's like her 2nd day on the job." ME: "Uh-huh..." (Still looking at him) he begins to awkwardly fumble with calculator and mechanic's quote book. He shows me the hours required and the parts in order to justify his price. I recanted what the girl told me. He asked, "Well, what were other dealers quoting?" ME: "$680+" HIM: "Alright, $680" ME: [recanted] HIM: "I ain't doing this for rock bottom price. The girl didn't know better." ME: "I understand how you feel; however, I made a decision based on a quote from the person who answered your phone and ran back-and-forth talking to the mechanic, who I think she said was you." HIM: "Fine - $650" (reaching over the counter for my credit card while avoiding eye contact with me). Fearing the gentleman was at the brink of taking this very personally, $150 extra seemed an acceptable ransom to get my car away cleanly. I conceded and made mental note never to use Clanton Fast Brake again. The person who gave me a ride to get my car (the same person who recommended the shop) witnessed everything and made the same mental note. I felt compelled to share this with Yelpers out there. Seemed fair and was close. However, lately not so much. Quote my wife $600 to replace the throttle body on her Durango to resolve irregular throttling. It was the throttle body, but just needed cleaning. I checked that off as simply a mistake because he had been fair in the past. However, my last experience will be my last. @48K miles took my car in because of vibration while braking. He turned rotors. That is all that was needed. Fair price. Honest. @52K miles I took my car back to svc transmission and change brake pads after the dealership had said I need to get that done. Fair price on trans service and he told me to hold off on the pads. Said I had 10K more miles in them. @60K miles I took my car in for an oil change and told the owner to change the oil and go ahead and replace the front pads. I talked about the repair history at that time. (All I wanted was front brake pads). When I came back he had also turned the front and rear rotors. A total of $120 labor to turn rotors. $175 labor overall to (including rotors) "change front brake pads". The owner was not there when I picked the car up. The mechanic said the car was vibrating so he turned the rotors. I told him that that was not true. Later in the day I called the owner. He said come back by he would make it right. I told him it would be the following week before I got by there. When I stopped by with all my receipts, I was told: 1) that he would not be able to give me a warranty on the brake pads if he refunded the money for turning my rotors. I said I was fine with that. 2) ALL the rotors will always get turned when you drop a car off for front brake pads - I disagreed. That makes no sense. I am older and have had many brake jobs. If that was the case why would he not have recommended pads when I took my car in for brake problems at @48K miles. I paid $120 to turn the rotors. I was going to "have" to have the rotors turned again when I had the pads replaced why not recommend (or give an option) to replace brake pads at that time. I did not get a refund. I have not decided this if this is the end of this transaction or not, but I can not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

This shop is the most honest shop I've ever been to. They quoted me a fair price for labor to put a new muffler on my truck. The welds look great and now my truck sounds AWESOME. Another customer was there having his camero worked on and rather than replacing the entire tailgate they were able to diagnose the problem to a simple wiring deficiency from the factory and fixed it promptly. Honest and fair. You won't be disappointed. Hard to find a shop like this these days. read more
