I was in town for a wedding and some family and I were looking to grab a night cap. Clarke's was the closest bar to the hotel so we headed on over. I didn't know what to expect. In all my times of coming to New York, I have never checked out locals bars in Yonkers. This place is kind of what I expected for a bar in Yonkers. It looked and felt like a place where the locals come. It's not a fancy spot, but didn't give off dive vibes either. It's not a huge place, but there seemed to be space to spread out even though everyone congregated around the bar. We sat at the bar and didn't really look for a menu. From what we could see, there was probably 3 or 4 beers on tap and a small selections of liquor. Customer service was friendly, but the focus was more on the regulars. I've been coming to Clarke's Bar before it was Clarke's Bar. The food is really good and the waitstaff are all super nice, (Heather and Stefanie).The only problem is my wife and I will not come here if Rosena is working. Rosena has a real condescending & nasty attitude. The owners need to keep her in check before she ruins their business with the way she treats the people. read more

The atmosphere here is very warm and fun! I started coming here alone to sit on their wonderful patio and to just unwind after a long work day/week, and I have met some of the most wonderful people. The bartenders and the patrons are so friendly, social and some silly and make you feel very welcoming. When the weather is nice you can sit outside and watch the numerous hawks flying overhead which is a sight to see! Bridget and Desi are such wonderful friendly owners also. Check out the woman's bathroom and observe the beautiful fresh flowers! Food is excellent and the drinks are affordable and made perfectly by the fantastic bartenders! We came into Clarke's unannounced after our high school reunion and Lindsay absolutely went above and beyond. As the only bartender to about 50 people, she was delightful, patient, and an absolute service dream. The bar had the perfect amount of space, an awesome digital jukebox, and darts! This is another 5 star review based on my personal experience here. My first and maybe only since we're just visiting. Yelp helped me find this place. After a late evening arrival at LaGuardia and slightly stressful rental car drive in unfamiliar territory to Yonkers, hubby and I wanted a laid back drink and meal that didn't mean dressing or even cleaning up much due to the time. Other yelp reviews made it sound like Clarke's was our place. Thanks to the Google maps directions app, we arrived in just a few minutes. A small little restaurant/ bar warmly lit with white Christmas lights~ very welcoming. We bellied up to the bar. A mixed crowd of what appeared to be regulars, but we soon learned the great bartender treats everybody that way. Tommy said he only works Wednesday and Sunday (?).his day job is firefighter. His personality probably added a lot to our experience. A great listener and he had his own good stories. He seemed to know everyone there and we felt we had a new friend before we left. He was very accommodating to our requests too. We had big appetites so we each ordered burgers. I got the chili burger with beer batter onion rings. Rob got a cheese burger with fresh cut steak fries. They were delicious and filled us up They had a decent draft selection. Radio was playing good 70's music and caddy shack was on one of the tv's. We were sooooooo mellow when we left. Wish this bar was in my neighborhood. But then, I would probably spend way too much time there. This review is long overdue. I came here with a co-worker to have a quick bite during our lunch hour. Being that its during work hours, I'm always reluctant to go to suggest bars, but looking at a menu, we decided to give it a try. Atmosphere: There were tables away from the bar area, however, the area was small. (The place is definitely geared for bar patrons) Food: Great irish pub food. I really like Clarke's! The owner, Bridget, goes out of her way for you. As well as the STAFF! The Pub is clean and the food is very good! Safe neighborhood & the regulars are super friendly. I moved to the area a few years ago and was looking for a place where I could go withOUT being part of the "meat market" ... people don't bother you - but they ARE friendly. I NEVER had a bad experience at Clarke's! This place is an IRISH PUB! (Which MEANS the restaurant IS connected to the BAR! Duh!! So those of you who are putting it down, I suggest you go somewhere else - this isn't a club in Manhattan w/ velvet ropes! Pffft!) in my mad hunt for something, ANYTHING to eat near my hotel just the other side of the Saw Mill, I finally found this place. It will not wow you with food (standard, sub-par bar food). It will not wow you with vibe either. Stopped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. I've lived in the area for a couple of years now, but found this place by accident. A couple of weeks ago I was wandering around in my car and smelled a wonderful aroma of grilled meat. Looking around I spotted this bar and restaurant and immediately made a mental note to return. Having nothing else to do in the afternoon, I decided to drive over and give the place a whirl. It's a bit dark inside but very nice. There is a bar area and a small area with tables. I grabbed a stool and was offered a menu and a newspaper. Sweet! I decided on the Cajun burger with fries. It was a delicious burger with a spicy sauce. The burger was nice and juicy without being a total mess. The fries were very good as well with a bit of malt vinegar. Definitely a place I will go back to. read more

I went here to play darts the other night. The atmosphere is pretty cozy and the layout of the bar is nice! The staff was great and the food we had was spectacular especially for bar food. I highly recommend the wings or the garlic bread with cheese. Had the Australian burger. It was pretty good. Very juicy but not sloppy. The burger has a fried egg on it. Anyway, I'll just say that the burger was excellent. I also ordered fries. The fries were a little underdone. The cool thing about this place is the fries are actually cut potatoes. Maybe even hand cut. Because they were undercooked they had a very oily film quality to them. If they had allowed another minute or so they probably would have been perfect. One thing I don't like is the lack of soft drink selection but hey, it's a bar. I can't remember what I paid. It was around $11.50 for the burger, fries, and soda. Long story short, it was a very satisfying burger at a good price. they have several TVs, albeit small, with sports and a juke box. I'll probably return to watch some sports and try other foods. Sort of indifferent hence the middle of the road review. The bartender spoke to a handful of regulars and would answer you if you spoke directly to her but she had to be called a couple of times to ask for things because she was glued to the TV and you always felt like you were interrupting her show. I love that the fries are real sliced potatoes but they were soggy not crispy. My boyfriend ordered a burger which apparently he's had before and thinks is good. I didn't eat it. I had an appetizer sampler. The wings were good. The chicken fingers were cold and chewy and the mozzarella sticks were soggy. The potatoe skins were good. Real potatoes, real cheese and real slices of bacon but they got burnt under the broiler so the edges were black but the middles were good. Overall just eh bar food read more

We came to celebrate the holidays here and had the best time. We had our own private room for dinner and dessert, then continued the party at the bar. The bartender Lindsay was the best; extremely efficient and friendly. With its great prices and local charm I would recommend this place for casual drinks or for an organized event. This was my first time here but I will come back again the next time I am in town. This is a local bar with local people. The food was surprising good for this local bar. I had stuff potatoes and wings and they were good. I had the Westchester sandwich and it was very good. If your looking for a relaxed bar and eat, drink and watch TV, give it a try. Was visiting my daughter today. After a fun day of shopping was looking for quick dinner before heading home. Clarks came up on GPS and reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be an awesome choice. Are server could not be more friendly. She paid special attention to my 18 month old grandson and he loved it. I do not normally do this but I had to in this case. I came here for lunch a few weeks back and the owner Bridget was working behind the bar. She insisted that her food was "brilliant" and "gorgeous" so I chose to order a burger and fries. The burger was ahhh ok not how she described and the fries tasted like they have been soaking in oil for a year and still not cooked. It was not the food that was the most disturbing part it was the atmosphere in general. Not only were the customers a bit raunchy for my taste but the owner herself was. I am not a prude by no means but I do not enjoy listening to a middle aged woman make sexual gestures to people and then saying forget "desi" whomever that may be. The music was a bit loud for a lunch crowd. On lunch I look for peace but then again it is a dive in the middle of a residential area. I looked at the other customers food and to be quite honest theirs did not seem appealing to me at all. I did not complain to the owner because she was very confident about her food and when I was going to she made a remark "you can't complain" I felt a bit bullied after that. *** when I go into a bar or when anyone at that fact goes into a bar we like to talk about our problems but in this case all we did was hear about hers. I listened to her talk completely horrible about a neighbor across the street and how either him or his girlfriend wrote a YELP review then bragging that she got it removed by saying a disgruntle employee well YELP I HOPE YOU DO NOT REMOVE THIS BECAUSE I AM NOT A DISGRUNTLE EMPLOYEE JUST SOMEONE TRYING TO FIND A NICE PLACE TO HAVE LUNCH WITHOUT DRAMA.
