Love this place! I've been a couple times this week. They open on weekends for brunch at 10:30 AM. Their cafe is open during the day where you can order coffee drinks and pastries. And, they're open for dinner every day. I love their food and their drinks! I love their hot chocolate special, their drinks, and their specials! You have to try their pancakes! Best I've had. They have window seating, bar seating, and plenty of spacious booths. If you haven't tried this spot, you should! I can't wait to stop back in again soon. read more

Clearly the staff has not been trained to manage the growing popularity of the restaurant. There was an awkward pause after we were seated before anyone came to welcome us and take our drink or food order. Our server asked how "done" we wanted our burger and salmon ("medium") but when the salmon arrived it was very rare. This has happened before here -- it took a long time for my properly cooked fish to arrive, and everyone else at our table had finished their meals. Fortunately, that didn't happen tonight, and my properly cooked fish arrived fairly fast. When a restaurant knows how to execute a fine dining experience, the guest is able to enjoy their time and their company. When it doesn't (when the staff looks and acts scared, doesn't bring water when it is requested, doesn't pay proper attention to its guests, doesn't bring properly cooked food...), the experience is tense and unenjoyable. That unfortunately was the case for us tonight. Also, the music played used to be so much more enjoyable. Lately it sounds gyrating and annoying. read more

The Pelican Room was a nice and cozy place for a brunch. The main dining are had a huge beautiful full sized bar and some tables to the surrounding it. Unfortunately, the temperature was terrible. Although their AC unit showed 65 on it, it felt more like 90 degrees! I came with 3 other colleagues for brunch and we ordered a variety of items. We started with the Mediterranean Platter which had toasted pita bread with 3 spreads. The baba ganoush and spicy feta were delicious but the hummus with pickled onions fell short. Hummus was plain and the pickled onions were too sweet. Main dishes ordered were: Pelican Brief Burger: good solid burger but I ordered it medium and received well done which was disappointing. Fries were good but nothing spectacular. Filet (Oh) Fish: good nothing special The Pelican Platter: The presentation was impressive was the taste and texture was subpar. The texture was more dense than I would like and it crumbled like a cornbread. The size is huge and thick but unfortunately, I wouldn't order this again. The Pelican Platter: We sub the French Toast for the pancake. The French Toast was a better choice. Tasted good and the texture was nice. Both platters came with a small side of fresh strawberry, maple syrup, whipped cream, and strawberry jam. You also get two eggs, bacons, and tater tots. Although the menu says old bay tater tots, it came plain. However, it was perfectly fried and crunchy so I didn't mind not having the old bay seasoning. Drinks: Strawberry Matcha, Jasmine iced tea and houjicha. All the drinks were okay and none of them stood out. Overall, I am glad I tried it out but I would give it a 3.5/5. read more

I was taught if you have nothing good to say don't say anything at all. I have to tell you I have never, I mean never, have had such a horrible dining experience as I had at the pelican room. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm very patient, caring, understanding, and empathetic to the service industry. Reservations were for 1:45 today (Sunday.) Place was empty. I know they recently got slammed because of all the "influencers" that have been posting in the recent weeks, plus from what the owner mentioned, a new line cook was being trained and their Pizza folks quit. Heard his story and understood, as we are all trying to keep head above water. I was trying to think, do I know the chef? do I know anybody here? Did I curse out their mama? The expresso Martini was trash, I don't know if the bartender was partying the night before, but I do know is that 20 minutes later after ordering it came with about a fifth of a tequila bottle poured in. About 45 minutes after that and me having to grab the attention of the staff to the point that I got up to the hostess booth, the owner finally came over and explained that they were slammed and proceeded to comp my meal that it will be right out. 15 minutes after that I had enough. And yes, I paid for my drinks, as the owner was bringing out the food and was kind of upset because he told me he was going to comp my meal. Nothing in life is free...Purely a litmus test to see if they would at least have common courtesy to comp those. One of the waitresses that was training another caught an attitude, I dismissed it. And yep, drink comp didn't happen. Same waitress kept passing by as I bit into my burger and I knew they gave me the special (anyone who's seen that movie waiting knows what the special consists of... I still can't take the taste out of the pound of salt and pepper that they poured on my burger, and my lady's food could crack a brick wall. The whole ride home I was questioning my existence, what karmic food God did I piss off? So since I didn't and don't get paid to "influence," don't believe what you read or hear on the internet (as ironic as me posting this online.) This is my honest review, and I do hope that if you still chance it and go to this place, you have a better experience, and not a scene from Scarface... fly pelican fly... read more

I came here for dinner on a Friday night. Although this restaurant opened less than two months ago, it is already impressively popular so reservations are definitely recommended. We sat in the front room by the door. You could feel a bit of a draft every time someone came in or out, but it wasn't too bad. The decor was tasteful, with an old world vibe. Lighting was dim. To start, we shared the truffle and gouda croquettes. An order came with six pieces and was served with a blue cheese sauce. These were delightfully airy and crispy, though the portion size was a tiny bit small. For my main, I had the black truffle fettuccine. The truffle flavor was mild and a bit tangier than I'm used to, but the mushrooms were perfectly tender and the sauce was pleasantly creamy. My husband had the Parisian burger and enjoyed it. To drink, I had the Bow Thai. You could definitely taste the rum and it was nice and fruity. They forgot to give us utensils for our entrees, but otherwise, service was good. The owner was friendly and stopped by our table to check if everything went well, which was very appreciated. This is a great addition to the neighborhood! We had our small child with us and they catered to them. Service was impeccable. The manager was super attentive and very personable. The food was fresh and delicious. What a pleasant surprise this was ! It appears to be a cut coffee spot, but keep walking into the main restaurant, which features a bar and banquet and high hat tables. Enjoyed a delicious Saturday brunch here, featuring inventive and thoughtful dishes! My omelette avec champignons (mushroom omelette) was also filled with feta and spinach and was wonderfully created. Accompanied by a tasty watercress salad and a chunk of fresh sourdough, this meal was complete, but a side order of bacon rounded it out well. Began with " Smoked roe and revelry," a delicious dish of diced potatoes with caviar that was simply amazing! My friend had "The Pelican Platter," a very generous puffy pancake, accompanied by scrambled eggs and Old Bay tater tots, and the eggs and tots went home with her, as it was a lot of food. I was able to enjoy pistachio milk with my coffee, and other alt milks were available, as were a variety of coffee drinks (latte, mocha etc.) when we left, we saw the wider range of lattes and matchas they were offered at the coffee shop portion of the restaurant, but I did not see these on the main restaurant menu. A pity, because I would've loved to have tried the strawberry matcha, or the gingerbread latte. The only downside of our visit was being seated at the high top banquette tables that were alongside the bar. The seats were very uncomfortable, and lacked much of a flooring to them, which meant either your feet were dangling while your back was supported, or you kept your feet on the Floor bar, with your back unsupported. Either way, not a comfortable seat. I wish we had been seated at one of the low tables, or even at the bar itself. But that was not have made for good conversation for our party of four. If you go, would suggest that you get one of the regular tables, instead of the high top banquettes. read more

We stopped by to try their Happy Hour Menu. We were very pleased with the service and food. The Pelican room is a laid back upscale atmosphere with awesome drinks and food. I ordered the house speciality Peach Peach and I was extremely happy with my choice. We also ordered the poppy seed piggies and all I can say is wow!! I absolutely love this place! Specifically, the café, from the specialty lattes to the service and ambiance. Parlor Coffee is one of my favorites, so learning that this is their brew was the absolute cherry on top. Oh, and the head barista, Vivian, is a ray of light. Stop by either for a great-tasting matcha or latte, sit at the brightly lit café, or even enjoy a happy hour in the beautifully designed bar area. You won't be disappointed. The food and service as well as the ambience are wonderful at this new gem of a restaurant in Pelham. I've only visited twice, but I'm very happy with everything. I've experienced thus far. I think people of all ages would love it, though it's not a place for small children. They do have a kids menu, if you decide to bring your children with you. The bar is fabulous, and the mixologists do a good job. I will definitely attend again. I wish they're happy hour was longer than one hour, and I wish the seats were more comfortable. But it's a small price to pay to have the stuff dates. read more

Wow!! The most exciting new place in Pelham right now. We got together for a gender reveal party last night. Cal was able to accommodate 17 of us in the front room which gave us some privacy because we are a LOUD bunch. It was so much fun, staff services were great and the food was absolutely delicious. Overpriced and Understaffed The interior has a cool vibe--unfortunately, we weren't seated in that space. Instead, we were placed in the front room, which had zero atmosphere and absolutely no heat. It was freezing, made worse every time the front door opened since our table was right there. Service was extremely slow. It took about 15 minutes for a server to even acknowledge us, and another 30 minutes just to receive drinks--before we could even place a dinner order. The menu looked promising, but the food itself was just okay and ultimately forgettable. Once our meals arrived, our server never checked on us again. We weren't offered a second round of drinks--which may have been a blessing, given how outrageously overpriced they are. Beware of ordering drinks not listed on the menu. A simple tequila and club soda was charged at $36, which is absurd. We asked for leftovers to be wrapped, and despite having nearly a full dish remaining, it was returned in a tiny 4-oz container--meaning most of the food was thrown away. When we questioned this, we were told that was "all the food," which was clearly untrue. Adding to the annoyance, a man in a fedora repeatedly wandered through the dining area aggressively pitching their speakeasy, which felt intrusive rather than enticing. Parking was also a hassle, and after spending a significant amount of money, having to walk several blocks to our car in a sketchy area was the final straw. Overall, this was an expensive and disappointing experience: lackluster food, painfully slow service, wildly overpriced drinks, and poor attention to basic hospitality. The Pelican Room is a bonafide experience. It took a long time to get here but now that it's here, oh boy is it ever so good. Absolute top marks for decor and ambience -- seating as gorgeous as they are comfortable, quite spacious, and great lighting. We were seated next to a table of screaming harpies but that's hardly a ding on the establishment. The bar is visually impressive, those bar seats are awfully inviting. I ordered the Smoking Barrel -- it was... okay. For a bourbon and tea concoction, I couldn't pick up any tea in the drink. Still, enjoyable enough. Let's get on to the food, shall we. The Devil & The Lyon deviled eggs were surprisingly good and brilliantly balanced. The French Dip sarnie is definitely big enough for two -- the trick is to eat it over the fries so the fries can soak up the dripping jus. Big marks for the Everything Crusted Salmon. The Sweet Heat pizza absolutely lived up to the name -- pronounced sweetness with just the right amount of heat. I hate to use the word balanced again but here we are. I'm saving the best for last. The Parisian Burger, ordered medium rare. This was a transporting burger. I can't remember ever ordering a burger in Paris. But there was something about this Kalico cut beef (what even is that) with brie and cornichon that sent my head right back to a Parisian bistro. So juicy and rich. The fries were outstanding as well. Just a 10/10 burger. I want to go back to try the rest of the menu, but I wouldn't be mad if I feel right back into this Parisian Burger trap. read more

One of the most negative dinning experiences I've had in a long time. To enter the the restaurant, you walk through a front room that looks like an addition to the main restaurant. People eating in that area clearly looked cold. They were wearing their coats. It's December. When we were informed our table would be in this area I immediately asked for a table in the main seating area and was told I would be put on a wait list to move inside. The evening went downhill from there and there was never any effort to move us, we watched several groups walk in and get seated in the main area. We were seated right next to a drafty window, it was pretty rough. Should have left, but was hungry and the food next to us looked good. I had hopes that by ordering quickly we would be ok until we got a table inside. The waiter was nice, but seemed incredibly stretched thin. We soon found out a table near us, also cold, had been waiting 90 minutes for their food. We too had been waiting for a long time. At that point we asked for our entrees to go, I couldn't take freezing anymore. Other tables around us were speaking up about the experience, we did as well, and the manager was apologetic but failed to take any action - never tried to move us, didn't offer anything and then explained the heat wasn't properly working in the front area. To seat people in that area without properly functioning heat was wildly inconsiderate. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open and it hasn't disappointed me yet! I've only come for the cafe portion so far, but the coffee is very delicious as is the matcha. The barista was super friendly and efficient. The strawberry matcha is to die for, definitely recommend. The cafe is simple with a few chairs and tables but lots of great natural lighting. Arguably the best restaurant and bar in Pelham. Finally a vibe and menu that tastes like your favorite neighborhood restaurant in Brooklyn/Manhattan. Extra points for possibly being the only bar without TVs on 5th Ave. The vibe is casual/cozy enough for a 5pm weeknight meal with the kids but also sophisticated enough for a date night.
