We stopped in here for lunch on our way to Seattle and we are glad we did! They have outdoor seating but it was raining on and off but luckily for us it's covered. We travel with our pups so I wasn't sure if they were going to serve us outside because of the weather, but the waitress was very nice and said she would come out with some menus for us! Awesome... they make their own ice cream so we had to try it and got a Carmel malt which was just awesome. I had a cheese burger basket and it was spot on. The girlfriend had biscuits and gravy and they were very good also. 5 stars for food and for the waitress going out of her way to serve us. I hadn't been to Clark's since I was in high school but I was thinking about it the other day and me and a couple of friends decided to go. I ordered the veggie burger and I must say, in my 14+ years of being a vegetarian it was one of, if not the best, veggie burger I've ever had. I have found that a lot of restaurants put little to no effort into their vegetarian food but this burger was delicious and filling. The two people I was with were also vegetarians, one of whom also got the veggie burger and agreed that it was very good. read more

We stopped here today on our way home to Seattle. This place is great! It has a hometown feel and the food was delicious. Waitstaff was also attentive. We got a club sandwich with potato salad and shared it. The club ham and turkey was fresh carved. The potato salad was yummy! We got a side salad as well. The salad dressings are all homemade, including the French. Overall it was delicious and we will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I had ridden up from CA to visit friends in Seattle and were on the Harley. We passed Clark's so fast, my wife mentioned seeing it after we had pulled into Montesano for gas and lunch. So... on our way home, we made a point to pull in around lunch time and were not disappointed! The burgers were great, the fries were great and we just had to have a piece of berry pie a la mode to finish the meal. I am surprised by the positive reviews, because although the burger baskets and milkshakes were decent, the indoor atmosphere itself was rather unappetizing with dusty decor, slanted picture frames, and sticky tablecloths that must have at one time evoked a "hunter's lodge" atmosphere but are now in desperate need of a thorough cleaning and decoration overhaul. To make things worse, the giant cinnamon bun so devoutly advertised in large font on the menu turned out to be a cheap pre-made lump of disappointing dough mostly devoid of cinnamon slopped over with a cold, soupy mess of flavorless, watery icing and undissolved chunks of cream cheese. The friendly server bumped this score up to three stars because she truly seemed genuine and caring, and my party appreciated her warmness. read more

We were staying at the RV park down aways from this place, had noticed it before and thought why not stop and see what it's all about. We had also noticed that there are always quite a few cars here which is a good sign. We are glad that we stopped. We stopped in for lunch and here is what we had. I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich with fries, my husband had the burger from the sea, also with fries. My chicken sandwich was so good, huge sandwich and the fries! They are seriously perfectly made. My husband's sandwich was huge and his fries were the same. The place is eclectic with different types of décor going and it all works. There are historic pictures on the walls and other different historic memorabilia in place also. They seem to be famous for their ice cream but we didn't have room for it. So we decided to come back for breakfast the next morning with other family members and we were not disappointed. I had eggs and sausage with toast which came with a good amount of potatoes. My husband had pancakes and they were light and fluffy. He ordered a side of potatoes with sausage gravy as did another member of our party and it was really very good. I'm not a huge gravy person but i ate a good portion of this. The service was very good both times that we came. It's a friendly place with good food. If you are heading this way, take the time to stop at this place, it's worth it. read more

Super tasty. I bet breakfast is tasty! We had lunch tho. Husband had a burger basket. My son and I each had different turkey sandwiches. Turkey is good, sliced turkey breast. Not slimy lunch meat. And omg we need to talk about the fries. They are so good. Fresh cut goodness. Still have the skin on. I like that they come unsalted, I don't like a lot of salt. Super tasty and potato-y. What a find! The Hubs and I were on our way over to Long Beach for the holiday weekend when it was suggested to us by more then a couple locals that we stop at Clarks for dinner. On HWY 101 this is a gem of a place tucked back in the trees with nothing else around it. We would have driven right by it, if we had not been looking for it. You would never know this old building would be the place you would find the best service (from our little hottie waiter Christian) you have ever had and I guarantee the best food you will have had in a long time. Diner food, this is truly worthy of a Diners, Drive-in's and Dives episode of its own. The burgers are to die for! I had the burger dip which was smothered in grilled onions and Swiss cheese then came with some of the best auju I have ever had. Fries were home made and crispy to perfection. This was for sure a 15 napkin burger. Juicy, ran down your arms with goodness. The Hubs had a big ole cheeseburger with fries. He said it was good and it must have been because I didn't hear a word from him (or breathing) for about 20 minutes while he devoured that burger basket! Then when we were done stuffing ourselves, out came the shakes! These aren't just any ole shake. These are handmade shakes on the old fashioned shake making machine and................drum roll please..................they are made with HOMEMADE ICE CREAM! This was the best shake I have ever had in my life. Even my granny couldn't't have made one this good. Sorry Granny! Now back to the service. I'm telling you this was some of the best service I have ever had. The wait staff was all young, but they were attentive, friendly, and genuinely concerned about the product they were turning out. The cook that evening actually came out and asked how everything. She said she was still new on the grill and wanted to make sure she had made our burgers to our expectations. I thought this was very nice and says a lot about the place. While we were sitting there each customer got up and walked over to the owner before leaving and said......."this was the best burger I have ever had" "this was the best meal I have had in a long time" We heard it over and over. With Fathers Day coming up this would be an excellent place to take Dad or Grandpa. They will enjoy the history and nostalgia of this old place. The drive out there is beautiful. Now Ladies once you get done soaking up the history and nostalgia..........they have some little hotties there waiting tables too. You cute little young boy chasin things, Cougars and just flat out Dirty Old Ladies will appreciate the eye candy. Clark's has the four egg omelette and I live on Veggie versions - they produce the absolute best Veggie Omelette of any restaurant within a 30 mile radius; which brings me back week after week. I'll give two stars based on the friendly service. Sorry to say but nobody is cooking with 'Love' in that kitchen. The bacon was blubbery and undercooked, I asked for basted eggs and got sunny side up with slimey undercooked whites, the biscuit may be the worst I've ever had, dry, dense, like it had been frozen. The gravy didn't help much either. The crepes were served with maple syrup (which is not typical) they were more like a rolled up pancake. I did like the coffee though!! I would argue that most burger joints do not deserve a five star review, no matter how good the place is, five stars is quite a feat. But indeed Clark's in tiny Arctic, WA is deserving of the big five. The wife and I went to Clark's on a neighbors recommendation on our way back to Seattle. All I can say is WOW. Hand ground beef, homemade buns, hand dipped shakes with THEIR OWN HANDMADE ICE CREAM. I wish I had a bigger stomach because I wanted to try some of the amazing looking pies. All and all, a great deal for the quality presented, and I left not feeling like I had just eaten a brick (like most burgers I get). Truly a Classic, completely worth the short detour. read more

Clark's is a homey-looking place on the way to Raymond. Inside, it has the old-fashioned soda fountain stools where you step up to sit. Decorations are kind of this and that, but there are some interesting pictures of the area back in the day. Food: there's standard fare of burgers, some salads, pizza. I had "coated" zucchini, and frankly, they were over cooked, thus, not so tasty. My companion had a burger, which was fine. The homemade ice cream seemed to be a big seller, but I didn't try it. Service was good. Bathrooms are quite small. Always wondered what Clark's was like. Been there; done that. read more

It's not cheap like mcdonalds and it is certainly better, but the prices are a little high for what you get. $5.50 for a malt? Yes it hits the spot but still... the home made icecream is soft serve? Burgers were good but by no means "ultimate" no way it compares with red mill in Seattle, let alone the lamb burger at cafe Campagna. Also not real clean. Mens bathroom looked like a biker bar. Saw another happy customer while paying, she'd ordered some sort of bunless burger with grilled onions that looked good (but still not amazing). We sat outside, the road was loud. Greasy food and very BAD service. We were driving from Aberdeen to Olympiad, and this place was on the way, so we decided to try it out. Took them 50 minutes to serve, and another 10 minutes to bring over the check. When we asked for the check, the lady yelled "I AM COMING" and kept ignoring us. I can tolerate bad food, and the moldy smell in the restaurant, but not the attitude. Avoid this place if you can. read more

The chicken nuggets were dry and rubbery and after we informed our waitress she didn't offer a substitute and we were still charged for it even though my son couldn't eat it. I grew up with Clark's Crater Cone as a fond childhood memory, but haven't been there in about a decade as I now live out of state. Had the pleasure of revisiting that childhood memory on a recent trip to WA, and they still live up to my memory of the tastiness that is a Clark's burger and crater cone. The burgers are big and greasy and very tasty -- get the onions grilled. Skip the fries, though, they tend to be too greasy -- but you can't go wrong with an order of onion rings (big enough to share). Clark's still makes their own soft serve ice cream, and the crater cone is still HUGE. I wish I'd fasted earlier in the day because I was stuffed to the gills after my burger and cone.
