I met a college pal of mine here for a lunch date. It was super good and tasty. The menu was simple and boasted decent prices. An $8 lunch deal got me a yummy chicken wrap, cup of soup, an ice tea, and rich chocolate pudding to round it all off! A nice price for a filling meal. I went here a few months ago with my mom for breakfast while she was visiting new york and I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the eggs benedict and my mom got the french toast. When my eggs benny arrived the eggs were under-poached. One of the eggs was even a little bit raw on the edges, GROSS! I broke open the other one and it was runny all over the place. A poached egg like that should be soft boiled with just a bit of run at the center. I asked that the eggs be poached longer and when they arrived the second time they were still runny. UGH!!! F this place. Never going back again. My mom liked her french toast so I'm giving it two stars. read more

I come to Clarke's at least twice a month during lunch. They have an excellent variety of food on their lunch menu. The pea soup here is the best I have EVER had. The croutons in them don't ever seem to get soggy. The wait staff is excellent, the food is always fast and tasty, and the price is just right! read more

Nobody really knows who Clark is. It could be a first name, or a last name, but the important thing to consider is the glorious egg-laden Hollaindaisical plate o' butter that is the Clark's poached egg with avocado. Served on Jewish potato platforms, accompanied by crispy bacon, and delivered by kind hearted gentlemen. In my travels, I've eaten at a lot of breakfast joints. In NYC, this usually takes the form of hipster brunch spots or places that get by on name recognition while serving substandard fare. Clark's is neither. In fact, I would consider it the gold standard of NYC diners, but I can really only comment on their poached egg dishes because I find it humanly impossible to order anything else here. Tasty food, great coffee, inexpensive. There were lots of healthy options on the menu as well as cheese burgers and fries, soups, sandwiches, etc. We went the healthy route, Greek salad w chicken and a chicken Caesar wrap. Both were delicious, the ingredients all fresh. The coffee was very good, nice and strong and they were sure to come through to offer refills. The service was quick and efficient . Finally! A good diner within walking distance for me. Located on the corner of beautiful Henry Street on Clark Street, you can't miss it. There's floor to ceiling windows and it's well lit making it alluring. I used to work nearby and would have breakfast but what prompted this review was their grilled chicken sandwich. It tasted fresh, not frozen, and the turkey burger was also good. It looks a little fancy for a diner, but the prices are far from expensive. I don't know if it was because it was during the holidays, but the only thing I would change was the classical music that played nonstop while I was there. read more

Looking for that hometown diner food that every 5 star restaurant wishes they could compete with? This is the place that you need to try. I have tried several different types of omelets, burgers, and the sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. They are all delicious, but the breakfast food is the best. Worst dining experience I've had in New York. Don't go here after breakfast. It started with the waiter not even asking what we wanted to drink. The busser just shoved waters at us and the waiter asked if we were ready to order. Having worked at a restaurant,its pretty standard that you ask the table if they want anything to drink. Then my friend asked for Italian dressing with her salad and they didn't have any. I order a chicken salad pita and asked if i could have fries with it instead of soup and the waiter said no... my only option was $4 sides, really?? So the potato salad was horrible, it had no taste, and the chicken salad pita was average. My friend's fries were COLD. Not just room temperature, but cold. The waiter didn't come back once during our meal to check on us or refill our water. read more

Lovely people, very friendly & sweet with kids, which helped with our young daughter. They brought out a booster seat & a mini glass of water for her & a small plate so she could share my (delicious) blueberry pancakes without any prompting. Good, fresh tasting breakfast food for a good price, they keep the service swift but friendly & without rushing you through. Just know that I'm not a negative-review writer... I ate here with a couple of friends yesterday and found the service and additional charges to be not cool... 1. One of my friends had a turkey burger with added cheese on a brioche roll.. She asked for the brioche to be changed to an English Muffin and the waiter told them it would be $1.75 additional -- SERIOUSLY?? She changed it to rye toast.. 2. I ordered a bowl of chili.. I asked for a few croutons to go with the (kinda over-priced) chili and he said they only give croutons with Pea Soup and that it would be an additional $1.75... OMG! I asked to see the owner and the waiter blew me off by saying he'd be there on my way out... I then got up and went over to the owner and asked him about both of these... He said the English Muffin for the Brioche should've been an even swap and that they make the croutons so they do consider them a premium... I let him know how I felt.. Needless to say croutons were delivered to my table and they were tiny and like crumbs.. So much for freshly-made... They were barely ehhhh My friend was fine with the rye toast and never said anything about english muffin, even after her turkey burger with cheese arrived with no cheese... she sent it back and it was just OK... Overall, the food was OK.. waiter had zero clue, place is tiny and tough to hear anything as the tables are waaaay to close together... read more

It can be hard to find great, (relatively) cheap diner food in this area, and Clark's Restaurant fits the bill! Busy busy, but they won't keep you waiting too long. A+ breakfast sandwiches, sides, and platters. My only small complaint would be that you may feel a little rushed when they bring you the bill, but that's a small price to pay for a) a shorter wait for a table than you'd expect and b) getting your food five minutes after you order. Recently rekindled my appreciation for this no fuss, consistent diner. I've only had their breakfast (read: omelette, french toast, etc) items, but it seems like their lunch/dinner foods are also good, as I've seen many other patrons ordering those types of entrees. this is a great place to have around. it's just good, consistent diner food. the staff is always great. the breakfast is on point. soup, sandwiches, burgers, salads, real food, they have everything and they make it all just good enough to come back. the prices are probably slightly higher than your average diner, but I'm guessing rents in the heights probably have something to do with that, and it's still cheap compared to your typical brunch/dinner options. read more

(3.5 stars) Nice and very clean diner in a very beautiful area of Brooklyn Heights a couple blocks from the Promenade and a short walk to the Brooklyn Bridge. Prices are reasonable (expect to pay $9-15 for a good breakfast) and the portions are good. The french toast, though they put way too much cinnamon on it was still very good and this was the first time in a diner that I got perfect crispy bacon without making a special request for it. I was a little dissapointed to see baskets of pre-packaged goods like cookies and pound cake but the delicious looking menu makes up for it. read more

Stopped by to get some breakfast to go. Didn't notice any prices on the breakfast menu, but ordered a wrap and a large coffee. $12.95. Ouch. Wrap was good, but had a slice of tomato, a slice of cheese, maybe two pieces of bacon, and I guess there were some egg whites in there. It was very tasty, but again, $9.95? Coffee was fine. People working there seemed nice, but I'll never come back here for breakfast, at that price, again. read more
