I had these guys come out to take a look at my widowed mom's toilet that was running water. Turned out the chain to the flapper was too tight and it was fixed in 2 mins (my mom could've described it better and I could've fixed it when I was visiting her). She was charged $140 for this (less than 3 mins of work). That is too much money for such little work. They are also based in the area so it wasn't like they had to drive more than 15 mins. I called their office to see if she could pay less since work was still performed, but they said no, there's nothing they can do. I'll never do business with a company who charges an old woman this much money for this little work. $140 diagnostic fee feels criminal and it is. Do yourself a favor and research other companies in the area before calling these guys, they are only looking to make money instead of providing fair costs for services performed. My mistake was believing to call a local company since I'm from Germantown but nope, never again. The only good thing about them is they are on time, and the everyone is nice on the phone. While it is definitely true that communication is their BIGGEST problem, the customer service I received (specifically from Brian) pushed this from a 3-star to a 4-star. They had the best price for replacement of 2 bathtubs with surrounds in our condo. It did take a lot longer than expected due to foreseen and unforeseen delays, but their friendly techs and Brian made this much less painful. Run, run, run as fast as you can. I should have trusted my gut and stayed far away from Clarksburg Plumbing. I was referred to them by another plumbing company to check what seemed like a plumbing vent clog. The first plumber wasn't licensed to go on the roof, but said Clarksburg handles this kind of issue all the time. So I called and spoke with Emily, the receptionist, who was very friendly and assured me that yes, this is exactly the kind of work they do and they'd be fully prepared for the appointment. But when Ben, the technician, arrived--who I'll say was very kind in the moment--he and his partner were in my house for less than 10 minutes. They checked the toilets and said there was nothing wrong. I personally overheard Emily on the phone with Ben during the visit, and they agreed the diagnostic fee would be waived, since no issue was found and nothing was diagnosed. I asked if they could come back in a few weeks with a camera to check the vent line, and that's when it all unraveled. They said they didn't have a camera--because Clarksburg doesn't own one--and would need to buy one for $1,200. Then they quoted me $613 for a return visit and asked for a $200 deposit. I asked clearly: "If I cancel, will I get my money back?" And Ben said yes. That's the only reason I paid. Later that day, I had a third plumbing company come out. They also found nothing--and like the first plumber, charged me nothing. But when I called Clarksburg to cancel the return appointment and request my $200 refund, the story flipped. Suddenly they told me $145 would be kept as a diagnostic fee. For a diagnostic that was never performed and was specifically waived in real time. That is crookery. That is lying. We called Clarksburg Plumbing in a pinch when our regular plumber was unavailable. Please learn from me that it is better to wait for your regular plumbing service. Our hot water heater failed and needed to be replaced. While the work was completed (new water heater installed), we cannot confirm the quality through the required inspection process. Clarksburg Plumbing is unfamiliar with local inspection processes required within our town and continues to push our inspection to county inspectors who are unable to service our area. Clarksburg Plumbing charged us for the inspection that cannot be completed through the county and will not refund the inspection portion. read more

Clarksburg plumbing was brought in, through my parents building manager, to provide a quote for water leaking into the unit below my parents. It's really sad to report the self proclaimed "family owned" businesses are trying to take advantage of the elderly, but as you can see in the quotes, that's precisely what happened. $500 to cut a hole in the ceiling and shine a flashlight!?! $1600 to replace their bathtub faucet without ever asking my parents if they had a need to have the exact same 2000 builders grade fixture (apparently that's why the quote was so high). When I confronted Clarksburg plumbing about the quotes Sarah, one of the managers, was defensive and rude. The BEST PART of the whole thing is, the "problem" they identified was incorrect - there was no issue with the faucet. Instead, I brought in another plumber who was able to fix two shut off valves for $350 TOTAL. Terrible/disgraceful that there are companies out there that would try to take advantage of elderly tenants of a condo building. I had a water service line leak under my foundation. Selected Clarksburg at noon on Thursday and Franklin pulled in a new water line (I.e trenchless repair) within 24 hours. Clarksburg was the lowest price and had the first availability. Utilities were marked before the work and WSSC approved the work the following Monday. We should have read the reviews first before calling them but we were desperate when our sump pump went out during our recent rain. So we called Clarksburg Plumbing because they are near our community and supposedly family owned. Well, they came out and installed our sump pump for $410. (we provided the sump pump) Okay, so that part is fine. Well, almost exactly one week and a half later, we had a downpour rain and guess what? The new sump pump that they installed just 10 days ago DID NOT work which caused an overflow so then we called them to come out and 'fix' what they had done 10 days ago. Obviously the sump pump was not installed correctly because that was the first rain and the brand new sump pump that they installed didn't work. Well, here's where everything went down. We assumed they will come out and 'fix' what they didn't do at the first place at a no charge but instead, they charged another $310 saying this was an 'emergency call'? Well, I get what 'emergency call' is but not when they didn't do the job in the first place just 10 days ago!! We called them a few days later to see if they can reduce the second charge of $310 but they wouldn't budge and keep saying it was an 'emergency call' and that's what they usually charge. Well, if they never did the first part of the job then yes I would be glad to pay the 'emergency call' fee but the 2nd call was to have them fix what they didn't do in the first place! We live in a tight community where we share our favorite vendors and retailers and these people will definitely not be recommend! Oh my goodness! Clarksburg Plumbing was amazing! I called late at night after discovering a broken pipe outside. They have a 24 hour call line, I opted to wait rather than go for emergency services. The next morning I got a call and by the afternoon Mason was here at our home inspecting and fixing the problem. I am so thankful for their quick response and turn around time to help us when we really needed help. Mason was great, he was very knowledgeable and he even taught us a couple of things to better protect our home. I had Clarksburg to replace the main line to the house. Joe was quick to come for a quote of $2,800. He said it is expensive because they have to spend $1,500 to use the "missile" to run the new line underground. I thought it's reasonable and agreed to have the work done. Actually when they came, no "missile" was used. They just used their work truck to pull the line. That part of the work was done in about 15 minutes. I call and left a message that since the expensive part of using the "missile" was not needed, I think it's fair that Clarksburg gives me some discount from the amount I paid. I would not recommend this company. I had an estimator come out to give me an estimate on reducing the gas line behind the stove. This is a small kitchen and this is critical. The pdf they sent had no measurements just a price of $1600.00. I called Katie and she said they do that to prevent people from using a handyman! We had a good experience. Our master bath was leaking into the living room below. It was easy to make an appointment for the end of the week. The plumber who came out was there right at the beginning of our 12-4 window. He was fast and polite and wore the little protectors over his shoes when he was in the house. He immediately identified the source of the problem as our shower handle and was able to fix it with parts he had with him. He also installed a new shower head that we provides, tightened a loose toilet, and snaked two sinks. Altogether it took just over an hour and cost about $250. But they had a coupon in a recent money mailer for $50 off that we were able to use. I've paid some truly insane bills trying some other plumbers in this area before, so we were very happy with the price. We will definitely call them again next time. read more

I first went to Clarksburg Plumbing amongst other companies looking for "directional boring" to install water and sewer to a building behind our house. I was told by the owner that they could do that. I got a quote. Even though it was higher than the other quotes, we accepted it because they seemed confident in their abilities and he claimed special confidential knowledge on how to do it. Well, they ended up trenching the entire project 3 feet deep and 2 feet wide for 100 feet to the unit. The trenching is a disaster as we used to deal with surface run-off during periods of heavy rains which was controlled by surface drainage systems. Now we get flooding through the basement walls of the unit. They don't take responsibility for this and say it is the nature of the work that was done. I disagree. I asked for directional boring. They don't appear to know anything about directional boring, so we are dealing with the water that flows through the trench that they created... and they just sent me a $10K+ proposal to try to stem the flow of water that flows through their trench. Their plumbing work other than that was pretty good except they charged extra to fix things they didn't do right in the first place. read more

Last month, a person came last week to check the hot water heater, it was working fine and it was dispensing water, somewhat intermittently, but otherwise was working perfectly. As the gentleman attempted to fix the hot water heater, I suggested two times he stop and leave as is as he was struggling to make a fix. As he continued to tinker, he broke it, it no longer works, and now has to be replaced. When he got to the house, it worked nearly perfectly. They then quoted me a price of $700 to fix this item plus labor (its $250 online). It was my belief they should replace this product immediately since it was broken by them. My property manager recommended that I reach out to Clarksburg Plumbing to rule out a possible leak under my home resulting in an extremely active sump pump. Unfortunately, Clarksburg Plumbing does not even get a honorable mention as they did not even show up today. On his only day off today, my husband agreed to wait between the window of 10-2 for Clarksburg Plumbing to come and assess our concern. The time window came and went with not a peep from the plumber. At 3 o'clock, I called the company from work and inquired about the appointment. The woman who answered the phone said she would reach out to the plumber. The plumber called us back stating that he was caught up at a job and it would be 20 minutes, 30 minutes to 2 hours for him to come to our home. I am reasonable person and understand there are emergencies. However, it would have been nice if someone who have reached out to us earlier in the day about the delay, instead of having me call them to inquire about what was going on. We would have rescheduled. It is all about customer service nowadays and the customer service at Clarksburg Plumbing sucks. After 4 visits it still leaks and in the process of attempting to install the cartridges some how they broke the circulation pump on the hot water tank. They came to fix it on visit number 5 and after hearing trying to figure out what to do I asked them to leave broke. read more

I cannot express how happy we have been w/ Clarksburg Plumbing. We had a water line break underground between the meter and our house, this is the second time this has happened in a year. Our insurance company, Homeserve, sent Clarksburg Plumbing to do this second repair. Jason, Franklin, and Ruben came out today within the window we were expecting them. They were fast, professional, diagnosed exactly where the problem was, only dug up the little bit of the yard they needed to (a neat 5x2 foot segment) and they dug it up by hand, keeping the rest of the yard and the landscaping neat. They fixed the problem the same day. Contrast this to the other company Homeserve sent us the first time this happened a few months ago (PHI Group) - PHI didn't diagnose where the leak was before they drove an excavator up on our lawn and dug up most of our yard, in doing so they broke the water meter so our neighbors all lost water while WSSC had to come and repair the meter, they bent our fence all out of shape, the repair failed the first WSSC inspection, they didn't properly support the new water line or our sump pump line, and when they filled the hole back up, they broke our sump pump line which they didn't come back to repair for three days, all the while the sump pump is shooting water every ten minutes, and they left us with the lawn graded *toward* the house so we had to pay a landscaper to regrade it after they left. After this terrible experience with PHI, we are SO IMPRESSED with Clarksburg and will call them for all our plumbing jobs from now on. They were incredible. read more

After calling Clarksburg Plumbing on a Saturday afternoon about what we believed was a leaking pipe inside a wall. We were told that the tech could probably come in the next 2 hours, that was 2 p.m. ,at the 3 hour mark,3 p.m. we called again and were told he was still working on the job but he would call when on his way. Well.... We went to bed around 11:45 p.m. with no call, half expecting them to show up on Sunday morning. Nope! With the rates they quoted us we expected much, much better help so, not only did they not show but they never called. We called Poolesville Plumbing and they showed within two and a half hours and all ended well, except I really felt compelled to write my first ever Yelp review because of Clarksburg plumbing's inept customer service and lack of professionalism.Unacceptable and rude. I wish I could choose minus stars instead of giving one star. This company sent a pleasant fellow to my house named Josh. Josh was totally incompetent and caused a major flood in the bathroom on my top floor to the main floor of my home. It was a disaster. He was frighteningly incompetent. He caused water to come POURING out of the lights all over my kitchen ceiling. It looked like a monsoon hit my kitchen. This was because he was testing for a leak by plugging up my upstairs shower and then FORGOT about it and left the room until the flood. Showers are waterproof but not the bathroom floor which was deep in water. In my kitchen the wood floors were were deep in water and my wood tables were soaked. Josh seemed shocked that this happened and was clearly upset... But not upset enough not to charge me for coming. Also while he was here he tore out the bathroom ceiling in the basement bathroom to check a leak in that bathroom. In doing so he made the biggest mess I ever saw. When my professional painter came to repair the ceiling he told us that there was absolutely no reason to rip out the ceiling like Josh did and instead he should have cut a clean square to get to the pipe for repair. He left me with a terrible mess on all three floors of my home. Needless to say, we would NEVER use them again or recommend them to anyone. I definitely should not have paid him, but foolishly I did. I realize how stupid that was of me but frankly, I was pretty shocked by the whole experience and just wanted him out of my house. All I can do now is warn others not to use this company! read more

We hired Clarksburg Plumbing to fix the water line in our yard as the copper pipe was leaking and had saturated the grounds with water. We did our research and got six different quotes from various plumbers ranging from $2200 to $6000. Clarksburg Plumbing was not the cheapest ($3000) but they were recommended to us by someone else claiming "excellent" work. The day they were supposed to start work it was drizzly, but they never bothered to tell us that they were not working, and since part of the job involves coming inside my house, I had taken a day from work for no reason. With another scheduled project they had, and then the weekend, they didn't manage to begin work until the middle of the following week. At the conclusion of the project I was left with two very large defects (mud hills) in my front yard from the wholes they opened. Sorry, seeds and hay will never fix these defects. A destroyed wall since they opened an 18"x18" hole in order to access the pipe behind. At the end of the day the hole was no longer square but the shape of a giant pear, and which I had to repair out of pocket. A destroyed carpet full of water and mud since they did not take basic precautions to prevent water and mud to come in the house from the saturated yard. And damages to my drive way from their backhoe machinery. There were no comments, apologies, or offers to help with the damages they caused. read more

I have used Clarksburg Plumbing twice, and both times I was very happy with the service they provided as well as the customer support I received on the phone with management. I had somewhat complicated leaking situation due to the fact that it was a condo and there happened to be a leaking pipe above my unit as well. They provided a window of 8am-12am and called to let me know they were on the way at 7:50am. I missed the call and did not get back to them until around 8:45am. I was shocked to find out the plumber had waited patiently in the parking lot for my call. Clarksburg Plumbing thoroughly tested the pipes to pinpoint the actual source of the leak rather than going by the condo management companies assessment of the issue. Condo associations notoriously avoid claiming responsibility for damage. They worked quickly to repair the damage and kept in constant communication. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

We received several estimates and several different approaches were suggested. Clarksburg Plumbing's approach was the simplest and most sensible of the bunch. The owner, Gary Haines, was the front-man for the job and was as honest and patient as they come. He modified his plan to suit our needs and was on-site for the entire duration of the work. Gary brought six hard-working men who acted as a team. Gary conducted this complicated work and made it look simple. The team was efficient, cleaned up after themselves, and were polite. It was also nice to see how well Gary treated his team and the camaraderie of these guys who have worked together for a long time. The did exactly as they promised and were very efficient about it.
