After our tasting with Mark in which we tasted all his delicious cheesecake and pound cake options, we decided to go with him for our wedding cake. We had a bold idea for him (a Hogwarts cake) and he was more than up for the test. So eight months later and we arrive at our wedding reception with our jaw's dropping. It wasn't just us, it was the other hundreds of guests that could not stop staring at this magnificent and very large (had to feed 400 guests) cake. It wasn't just cake, it was artwork. Everyone wanted to take photos of and with the cake. It was a very hard to cut that cake because it's just so awesome and you don't want to mess with it but luckily the cake was as good as it looked. The pound cake was very good and the cake was very rich. We used chocolate chocolate chip and raspberry marble as our two flavors. The cake will be in our memories forever and Mark really pulled off an amazing feat. We uploaded the photo to his page and him and his team deserve a lot of credit for making our dreams come true. The very definition of sinfully delicious. The cheesecake is so good, the pound cake is so good, it is all just so good! And so rich. This is where to go when you want luxurious indulgence-type desserts --- dieters and diabetics, beware!! I tried so many flavors of both pound cake and cheesecake trying to pick a wedding cake, and I can honestly say, I never ate one that wasn't amazing. We went with Bailey's Irish Creme and the pineapple-coconut pound cake layers in the end (and double chocolate cheesecake for the groom's cake), but it was a VERY tough choice. The whole idea of cheesecake wedding cake is really cool - Mark (the coolest computer programmer-turned-baker ever!) disguises them to look just like regular wedding cakes. I love this place, and would recommend going and at least standing in the doorway to look at the display cakes and smell the delicious-ness coming from the kitchen (you can get a sugar high just coming within a five yard radius of the building). read more

Josie and I got married 3 years ago. As with most weddings, trying to rein in costs at every turn is difficult to say the least. However, Josie loves cakes and this was an area that we were not going to skimp on. After meeting with a couple of bakers and tasting their wares, we finally made it to Mark Lotti's shop. It will soon be apparent why we never looked further...in fact, I wonder if anyone ever keeps looking after seeing Mark; I can't imagine why you would need to. As other yelpers have mentioned, his cakes are ridiculously delicious, moist, and dare I say addictive. Josie makes fun of me because I normally like only the basic flavors (vanilla, chocolate, um...vanilla again?...) but even I found every flavor just as deserving as the next to be the winner. Eventually, we went with a different flavor for each tier (lemon, grand marnier, and strawberry). Of course, the flavors are just the half of it. A good cake has to look good, as well, and that's where Mark really shines. We were really unsure of what we wanted our cake to look like other than white, classy and modern (yeah, were lots of help!), but Mark took a look at our invitations which had a blue filigree design on it and used that as a recurring accent on a 4-tiered cake (3 circle tiers on top of a hexagon base). Although the cake wasn't totally white like we originally thought, Mark's idea to go a little out of our comfort zone really paid off. The cake was beautiful and is still used in our wedding photographer's online gallery. But wait, there's more! It's classic CHEESECAKES for a reason, folks. After looking through his grooms cake portfolio, I was blown away at what he could do with cheesecake designs. Cheescake is his 3-dimensional medium and he is a maestro. As much as we loved the cake tasting, the cheesecake tasting was even better. After tasting them all, I was torn between vanilla bean and oreo...until Mark said we could do half and half. SOLD!!! Being GT grads, I had Mark do a 3-D Ramblin Wreck cake with half vanilla bean and half oreo. The detail was amazing as it really looked like a white and gold 1930 Ford Model A. Again, this photo is one of the dozen or so featured on our wedding photographer's cake gallery. Since they do on average 3 weddings a month (I'm guessing), I think it speaks volumes for Mark's work that he has 2 cakes featured since they've done countless weddings over the last 3 years. My man surprised me with a Frangelico white chocolate cheesecake for my b-day last night - oh MY was it delicious! They even frosted it and spelled out Happy Birthday - who has heard of a frosted birthday cheesecake before? I will say it's dangerous having one of these around the house - better have some will power or a big crowd to feed - even though the cake is SO rich it's tasty enough you want to just keep eating until you fall into a sugar coma. PS: my husband had only accolades for the customer service. He called in his order and when he went to pick it Mark showed up to make sure it was what he wanted. None of the people eating the cake finished their slices (including the birthday girl). It was described as "weird tasting". For $40 on a college budget, it was one of the most disappointing endeavors I've ever been a part of. It just isn't worth it. Maybe my mistake was getting a regular cheesecake or something. It was frozen in the middle a little even though we left it out 30 minutes (as was suggested). It also sat in my hot car for an hour's worth of drive. So this means that my cake that "needed a week or two" notice in advance was frozen. What was the point? The only reason I'm not giving it one star is because the guy who took my order was kinda nice. Other than that, the place is located in a shady area that is an hour away. You have to go all the way down to the back of a dirt road with the world's tiniest sign (that I missed several times). You get led to a locked door that you have to wait by to open in the 90 degree heat. Why in the world would I ever go through all that, pay too much, and be severely inconvenienced for a monumental disappointment is beyond me. Buyer Beware The cake that was delivered for my sons wedding wasn't at all what was discussed with Mark Lotti. I contacted him via email and described what we wanted for the cake. We then met with him to go over the details a few weeks before the wedding and specifically said we wanted a silver bucket look with the UGA logo on the front...then filled with Terrapin, Sweetwater and a Makers Mark bottle, which were all to be edible. If you look at his website he showcases his talent for making edible items that look realistic. When I saw the cake at the reception it was a brown barrel style bucket...no logo...and real cans of beer lying on the top. When I emailed him that night to ask what happened he said he felt the cans looked more realistic and he should have contacted me to tell me before I saw it. I disputed the charge with Amex and in his response he used an email from the first day I contacted him where I said "I trusted his judgement"....which he said gave him "full artistic authority to create as best as he saw fit....." he not once mentioned to Amex about the meeting 3 weeks before the wedding where we specifically detailed what we wanted....I have nothing in writing because I trusted that he was a professional. The fact that he didn't even tell Amex that he had a meeting with me and my son and that the cake didn't look like the photos we showed him in the meeting is disappointing. I believe it would take hours to make the edible items he told us he would make...and about 5 minutes to pick up a six pack and put it on top....it was my stupidity for trusting he would deliver what WE requested for the biggest day of my sons life....and my bad for not getting him to write it down on an invoice the day we met with him. Any professional would have given a customer an invoice with details and it was my stupidity that didn't request one. If you use him to do your cakes make sure EVERY LITTLE DETAIL IS IN WRITING, don't pay the final invoice until you are looking at the cake, and make sure you don't use the words "you may know what will look best" or you will receive a cake with his "artistic abilities"....he did offer to credit my card $250.00 of the $1100.00 price for the cake....which I haven't received...and a $250.00 gift card which would involve me having a conversation with him and ordering another cake.... read more

We had a huge wedding in Atlanta and Mark was recommended. I'm not easy to please and being from New Orleans I've got high expectations for presentation and flavor. We had some difficult requests to make a South Carolina Gamecock "cocky" cake and Mark, the owner, nailed it. The taste and moistness of the cake rivaled the design as both took our guests for a culinary and visual treat they had never had. The brides cake was one I requested to be more like a pound cake with an almond, Amaretto mix. Unbelievable is not enough to describe it. They are saying our wedding rivaled the royal wedding, and these cakes helped make it happen. On a personal note, Mark went out of his way to accommodate us, and fun to be with. The pre-wedding cake presentations were unbelievable. He will get every wedding or function in Atlanta after close to 300 guests at the Swan House enjoyed his work! Horrible customer service!! In this economy you would think a place of business would love any business but I guess unless you are having a huge expensive wedding or birthday, your business does not matter. I had called and left a message trying to get the top of my wedding cake re-made for my anniversary and did not even receive a phone call back. Then I continued to call for a couple days (since I understand places are busy) to see if I could speak with someone but each time I called, I only got the answering machine. My daughter was married this past weekend and we had the reception at Magnolia Hall in Piedmont Park. Mark's wedding cake creation and groom's cake were the hit of the evening. The oreo cheesecake fish half in and half out of the water was so beautifully created that Jessica and Jeremy hated to cut it but couldn't wait to taste it so.......... Everyone who tasted it wanted to know the baker and, of course, we gave Mark rave reviews. Not only is he an artist with the outside of his creations, the inside is just as good. It is rare to find beautiful cakes and delicious cakes from the same place but, if you want quality ingredients and beautiful creations go see Mark. His wedding cake creation was also magnificent. He created flowers on the cake to match the wedding dress - in fact, we decided to leave off the fresh flowers on the cake because we felt it would take away from his creation.
