I bought an 1830 French Clock from an antique dealer in Italy about 2 1/2 years ago. It was shipped to Houston via UPS. After I brought the box in the house and opened it I found the clock had been poorly packaged and the back glass was shattered and interspersed with the gears of the clock such that it wouldn't work. UPS said their shipping insurance only covers boxes opened in the presence of their UPS driver, not after you take the boxinto your home, even though I emailed UPS immediately the same day after opening the package and finding my broken clock. I researched clock repair shops in Houston and took the clock to Steve Woodward at Clock Country. Steve quickly partially disassembled the clock in front of me and recommended a complete cleaning and replacement of the broken back glass. After numerous disassemblies and reassemblies of the clock and checking it's time, Steve discovered that the large gear on the 4th wheel of the clock was very slightly bent, causing the clock to stop each time a few days after rewinding. Fortunately, Steve is tenacious and likes a challenge. He said we wanted to keep working on the clock until he got it running property. He succeeded and I picked up my clock just recently after almost 2 3/4 years. Thank you Steve !

The clock's movement hadn't been serviced in over 116 years according to the 2 November 1910 inscription on the pendulum bracket by its previous servicer. Also, the clock's marble base was missing most of the Roman numerals that were formerly attached to it to serve as the dial. Bernie Maya of Chappell Jordan completely cleaned and serviced the movement and bell such that the clock mechanism now looks brand new and the clock runs like new. Bernie also polished the marble and installed new Roman numerals for the dial on the clocks marble block. What a magnificent job ! Chappell Jordan hit it out of the ballpark again !

It looked like the band was polished clean with NO trace of the unique design. The Cassios' chose to deny ANY responsibility for the damage. They would not even acknowledge that the finish existed when I left the ring or that they could possibly have removed it. They charged over $500 for the "repair" NOT including the price of the diamond and flatly refused to refund the "repair" charge. I spent over $2600 to upgrade this ring. They destroyed the unique character of my vintage ring and expressed NO concern whatsoever for my dissatisfaction. They immediately went into legalistic defense mode...deny deny deny. They treated me like a grifter despite having been a repeat customer for many years. Mr. Cassio was defensive, arrogant and patronizing when discussing the problem. Thirty years of experience in the jewelry business does NOT make one infallible. Human beings can make mistakes. Taking responsibility and MAKING THINGS RIGHT is the very LEAST that an HONEST business person should do. Nothing has been made right in this situation. My ring was IRREPARABLY damaged. Stopped in Wednesday when driving home for lunch and checked and was told they would be ready by close of business. Went in near closing time and was told the appraisals were not done but promised they would be ready the next day. The next day I received a text around 4 pm saying the appraisals were done and ready to be picked up. Arrived and was told they were done but not there and they had no way to get them but would have them tomorrow. No apology just this was our system sending you a text. Customer service is not that hard - do what you say you will and if you can't explain why not and then certainly deliver on your promise.
