Stopped here for the RI Food Fights WeinerFest and got 2 all the way and fries. Very flavorful - the celery salt and onions came through and was a nice compliment to the meat sauce. The fries were very good as well. Ketchup, salt, and malt vinegar were in the bag - which is a nice touch. Now they were listed as The Weiner Wagon on the Food Fights coupon but seem to be a part of the Classic Express Cafe. My attendant at the window was very friendly and I ate my meal on one of two picnic tables in the parking lot. The only downside - no drinks other than coffee milk - which is really taking the commitment to RI based foods to the next level but I would have loved a soda. read more

This was the biggest surprise so far on the RI Food Fights WeinerFest. Its an add on structure to the Cafe, they call the Wiener Wagon. Super nice and friendly people inside. The wiener was up there with the heavyweights that everyone talks about all the time, the NY System OGs, etc. Buns were soft and felt steamed. The Weiner has great flavor, texture and juiciness. The sauce, mustard and celery salt were all on point and in the proper ratios. Even the coffee melt, while in a bottle came from a local dairy and was made with cane sugar. Under the circumstances that's pretty good. We were surprised by the quality and execution. They have the classic wiener formula down. A couple of minor tweaks away from the OGs for the new kids on the block in Johnston. Well worth trying if you're in the neighborhood. read more

I've been curious while driving past this location for months, Antonio said a little bit exciting that there would be something closer to work to grab a quick cup of coffee and bite to eat. 3 stars at the moment because there are definitely some growing pains. Good: location, plenty of parking, seating, lots of ice cream options, plenty of staff, clean/ bright environment, iced coffee was delicious, bagel was hood, self-serve kiosk. Bad: Website indicates food options but didn't appear anywhere in the restaurant/store. Bagel was good but almost no cream cheese. I felt awkward... multi staff just walked past while I just stood there. Bagel took a while to come out, so not really "express," especially where I was the only customer. It's still a new place, so hopefully, my review will change next time I visit.. read more

Came in at 9:00 on Friday night. The staff were so high on something they couldn't get the 3 things I ordered correct. Asked me 5 times...BLT, hamburger and cheese fries.....BLT had no tomato burger came with cheese and cheese fries had no cheese. The food was not even edible. Disgusting. read more

I live literally a few minutes away from this place and have always drove by but never went in. Finally decided to give it a try. I can't vouch for the lunch menu but the breakfast sandwiches are great! I had an ice coffee and it was pretty good too. The service is great as well. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! Do not eat at this place. It is a total rip off! I live close by and was hoping for a good place to eat. On 5-15-19 (Wednesday) my husband ordered 4 NY System Hot Weiners (they are not - they smell funny). He was charged full price instead of 1/2 price as advertised. He went back, talk to manager, said he would get a gift card. On 5-22-19 (Wednesday) my husband went back to use his gift card which was a generous $10. He ordered 5 NY System Hot Weiners - three with no onions, an angus bacon cheeseburger for me and 2 small fries. He paid $8.85 plus the $10 gift card. All of the weiners had onions on them, my angus bacon, cheeseburger had no bacon and no cheese. The roll was hard. Couldn't bite into it. The burger looked like it was a week old, dry and a little more than half the size of the toasted hard roll. I couldn't eat it. It was hard to swallow. This cost my husband $6.50. The only half-way decent thing was the fries which for $3.00 each (small) should have had more in the box. I have the receipt for all of this in case someone should question me. You used to get a 5* from me now you get a 1 Star. This place is ruined... $3.75 is Half Off??! They where 1.75 so you more than double the original price for a burger smaller than McDonald's which you can be sure I'll be choosing first from now on after work. Raised pulled pork fries to 7.50! It cost $11 for a pulled pork shoulder and that's at stop and shop not restaurant depot. I would go to you guys every day for the daily deals and sadly I will no longer be going back. Maybe for late night shakes if they aren't in baby cups, since you know it says normal sized but I'm sure that's not the truth. I always like to give new local businesses a shot, especially food businesses because so many of them fail within a year or two. Not sure why so many people think they have the magic formula when national chains like Red Lobster, Burger King and Krispy Kreme can't keep locations open here. Anyway.... I tried Classic Express Cafe on a Saturday afternoon. I placed my very simple order at the ticket window...6 wieners, 3 all the way, 3 no onion. When I stepped over to the food pick-up there was a "situation" in progress. Apparently 2 large orders had come out at the same time, yet only 1 person got food. A family of 3 had their order disappear while another woman walked away with an unusual number of bags. Some words were exchanged between the parties as the woman drove off. So now, the 2 employees prepping the food had to replace this family's $40 order while the rest of us waited. How the employees failed to deliver the food to the correct party in the first place was unclear. 15 minutes went by waiting for my wieners when the woman who supposedly stole all the food came back, sauntered up to the window and declared that that Classic Express owed her more food. At this another verbal altercation broke out between the woman and the father of the family whose food was "lost". This ended in the woman threatening to "get someone to bust his head open". Charming. The scene wasn't helped by the two teenagers behind me who were goofing on the whole thing. The manager finally came out and rather than try to diffuse the situation, he just apologized to the woman and offered to get her more food also. At no point did any other employee attempt to step in and do something, they were content to let the scene play out with other customers, including families with children, to witness it. Meanwhile, back at MY order...my name was called after 20 minutes. I was given 2 bags which I assume meant the "all the way" in one and the "no onion" in the other. I got to my car, opened the first bag, 3 all the way. I opened the second bag and.....3 more, all the way. At that point I decided to cut my losses and get out of there rather than go back to this week's episode of "The Real Housewives of Jersey Shore". Got home and my wife and I tried them. The wieners were not very good and we only finished half before my wife found a hair in hers. Worst, they had a horrible after taste that stayed with me all through the night and into next morning despite several tooth brushings and a half can of mints. So, unfortunately, I can't recommend Classic Express Cafe on any level. I hope the owners can clean up their act and I wish them luck. read more
