Clawdaddy used to be a favorite, but it's really gone downhill. We went specifically for Lobster Night after seeing it promoted on their website, only to be told they no longer offer it. No heads-up, no apology just false advertising. On top of that, the food was a huge letdown. It didn't taste fresh, lacked flavor, and was nothing like the quality they used to serve. I love seafood and living in NYC, there's an infinite number of seafood restaurants. I finally made my way to Claw Daddy's and was pleasantly surprised. I arrived during happy hour and ordered the grilled oysters and wings which were $1.50 for the oysters,$1.00 for the wings, and $9.00 for their adult Capri sun. This was my first time eating grilled oysters and they were quite delicious. Wings were crispy and tasty but a little under seasoned for my liking. They put a lot of alcohol in their drinks so be careful. 2 sips and I was Instantly intoxicated. I had 2 lol ... 4 hours later and I'm still buzzed. I ordered the crab leg boil with corn on the cob, potatoes, & smoked sausage with their garlic butter seasoning. They put an abundant amount of garlic in their boil which I loved. It was so flavorful and everything tasted fresh. I looooooove their garlic bread. It was so crispy & garlicky, I got an order to take home. It was delicious. They have indoor & outdoor seating. The weather was nice but I got a table inside just because I didn't feel like dealing with the outside elements. Depending on the time you go, I'd make a reservation because all the outside seating was booked and inside dining was pretty booked up due to the limited capacity. They take your temperature, provide sanitizer, and all the staff are masked and gloved. I enjoyed the privacy and partitions between the tables. I actually hope restaurants will adopt & keep this form of dining because I hate being so close to people that you can feel them breating & hear their entire conversation. As an avid claw daddy goer this one is my favorite place to visit. It's a bit more modern than the one in Brooklyn. The space is huge, bar in the middle so there's access to it from either side of the restaurant, there's also and upstairs standard dining area. Everyone I encountered has always been extremely polite and friendly, from the security to the host, the bartender and the servers. At this particular spot the bar is my favorite place to seat, the good part is that you don't need reservations for sitting at the bar. My go too is the raw and grilled oysters, since we visit mainly on a Sunday we always get the happy hour prices. I have yet to be disappointed so they have me as a loyal customer. read more

Get ready for lots of salt and lots of sugar if you're coming here! They don't have a full bar so your only options very strong very sugary (hangover pending) drinks. They were still delicious! But something to keep in mind. I went with some girlfriends and we all got the claw boil with the mild (definitely still has a kick) garlic butter sauce. Its a lot of food so come hungry and its all verrrry salty. Exactly what i would expect from this kind of style seafood. It has a more datey romantic vibe than most crab houses I've been to. claw daddy was not quite there for me. came here for dinner on a wednesday night, and thankfully there wasn't any wait at all. we ordered a pound of shrimp, claw daddy style, medium with a side of garlic noodles and then grilled oysters on the side i will say as a californian native i didn't expect a 1:1 taste similarity to boiling crab or claw shack, but i didn't expect it to be super far off either. unfortunately, i found the recipe rather disappointing. there was a very apparent taste/essence of wine. the taste of aged fermentation that reminded me of the aftertaste of red wine. it was rather off-putting, but didn't make it taste awful. i would say i don't think the recipe is bad per say, but if i wouldn't go for it again. because of that, i left rather disappointed. adding to that, i was also left a little unsatisfied by the garlic noodles. there was this clear spice that they used to cook it that i didn't appreciate. my boyfriend mentioned that it may be burnt garlic, but i don't think so. can't put my nose on it. i usually cook garlic noodles just with butter, garlic, parsley, oyster sauce, sugar, etc. so this extra spice caught me off guard. maybe as a vietnamese person the recipe is super different. grilled oysters were good but you didn't really taste anything other than butter, which isn't a huge issue per say but it definitely lacked dimension. i came here to get my fix of seafood boils and while it did just enough to check off my boxes, i don't think i'd come back here again. the staff are nice, but they also never pick up the phone and it goes straight to their peculiar voicemail system. read more

Claw Daddy's is similar to your Boil or Shaking Crab but what I really loved that was special about it was the Korean Soju inspired Cocktails. If you take a look at their drinks menu, you'll find very creative drinks with Soju base that are all delicious! I will talk more about the specific drinks that I got later. In terms of food, my boyfriend and I both ordered the Claw Boil which comes with half a pound of snow crab legs, half a pound of shrimp, and half a pound of mussels. You get to choose your spicy level - we choose medium (which wasn't that spicy), and the sauce - we opted for the Claw Daddy's Special sauce (which includes a blend of all the other sauces). I really enjoyed this sauce and would highly recommend it to everyone. When we first got the food, I was sure that it wouldn't be enough but don't be fooled because we were definitely full afterwards. I also wasn't a big fan of the setup. It doesn't come in your typical bag, but rather a pot (I also saw some tables have it spread out on the actual table in front of them). The pot made it a little harder to eat some of the food since it did splatter quite a bit and I did find it very messy. For sides, we ordered the brussel sprouts (absolutely delicious but a little bit on the saltier side) and the sweet potato fries which were also great. PRO TIP - Check In to Yelp and get the sides for free!! We got both sides for free which was great. For drinks we ordered The Blush (blend of soju, fresh lychee puree, and hints of blueberry), and Just a Dream (coconut puree and pineapple juice with freshly muddled mint and lime, and soju). I would recommend Just a Dream over the Blush. Honestly it was hard to tell what I was drinking in the Blush - the lychee taste wasn't super strong and could have been better. These drinks were also pretty strong! Another thing I loved about this place is that they have Happy Hour EVERY DAY until 7:30PM!! I have never in NYC found a place that has happy hour on the weekends and not an absurd time. Here are the perks you get for coming in during happy hour - $1 Oysters & Wings - $1.50 Grilled Oysters & Clams - $7 Draft Beers - $8 Wines - $3 Off Caprisun Drinks Ambience wise, it was freezing inside so bring a jacket. Is it possible to have too much seafood? Our table looked like a scene from the videogame death stranding where we literally ate everything from the ocean and a hurricane of dead carcasses covered our tables. Shout out to the waitstaff for constantly emptying out our bucket of shells and taking our next round of orders. We didn't get the lobster option, but maybe next time we will. The top items were probably the scallop, steak, and the snow crab legs. The steak and scallops come on sizzling pans! Make sure to keep these orders rolling because they only have one pieces per person, and these are super delicious. The shrimps come in a lot of sauces, so make sure to try them all out. Having all the orders come in on those dim sum baskets stacked high is super epic.! What can you expect. I didn't get diarrhea from these raw oysters so it should be good. Crabs are super meaty, but can be super messy if your friends don't know how to open them and the meat sprays everywhere. Make sure to wear the bibs! * garlic noodle / online ordering review * While my boyfriend was cooking up our Valentine's Day dinner, I wanted to add a side dish I was randomly craving: garlic noodles. It was all ready to go when I walked through the doors a couple min early, so they are def punctual. I had to walk the order for 10ish min in 18 degree weather before I got home, so it was expected that I had to pop it into the microwave for a quick reheat. It smelled so good, I was so excited. Upon taking our first bites, we were BLOWN AWAY. So incredibly garlicky. I can't even imagine how good it is fresh from the kitchen, in the restaurant. We should've gotten 2 orders, 1 per person. All I tasted was the liquor, no juice. So don't drink on an empty stomach if you're a light weight. I ordered one pound of the shrimp, mild with the special sauce, oysters, fried oysters, fried clams and chicken wings. I also ordered the adult caprisun-pina colada($7 during happy hour). The shrimp with the special sauce was really salty. Maybe I chose the wrong sauce but I did not like the flavoring. The shrimp however had a lot of meat and the shell was easy to peel off. Oysters and clams were 1$ during happy hour. Can't complain about $1 oysters. The seafood was very fresh. Caprisun was okay. I didn't really taste much of the pina colada flavor. Randomly, I was in the mood to try a weird type of food that I would normally not eat. So I came across Claw Daddy's menu and spotted fried alligator tail bites, and immediately rushed over to the Lower East side location. When we got there, we were immediately seated (table for 2) but if you have a group, reservations are recommended. I honestly expected a different type of vibe. The ambience of the restaurant is super gray, dark, and a modern feeling all around. I expected more of a laid back, beachy, seafoodish type of vibe. Tables are close to one another. Now let's get to the food. We ordered half a dozen of the raw oysters, baked oysters (not pictured), alligator tail bites, lobster Mac n cheese, and drinks. First, the happy hour menu (oysters, alcoholic drinks and more) is actually great and is offered everyday till 7:30. The raw and baked oysters were delicious and great! Next, the lobster Mac n cheese was mouthwatering, I absolutely loved it. The alligator tail was interesting. It kinda tasted like fried chicken bites, however, they were very salty and after a while, you just don't want to have anymore. Finally on to the drinks. The fruity drinks in pouches (CapriSuns) are extremely sweet and don't expect to taste much alcohol in them. The sparkling rose was good. The service was alright. The staff is nice in general but a little slow for an NYC restaurant. The food came out not to slow but if you want to flag someone down to order more food or even to ask for the check, you'll have some waiting to do. Overall, the food was good. I wish the ambience would coincide more with the seafood on their menu. The service could also be a lot better. But their happy hour is why I would come back next time I'm in the mood for oysters! This is one of my absolute favorite spots in the city. I've been here numerous times and each time has been amazing! I've gotten the crawfish and shrimp boil with the claw daddy special and it is DELICIOUS. I prefer the shrimp because the crawfish can be a bit tougher to eat. Definitely get it with some potatoes if you want a more substantial meal. I've also had their fried green tomatoes, red beans, wings, and oysters and everything tastes like you're at a restaurant in New Orleans. I overheard the bartender say that they actually have a chef from New Orleans that comes once a month or so to tweak the menu to always keep it interesting. I didn't get a decent amount of legs or good quality for $38 bucks, they also didn't bother to bring me any tools. I used my hands and teeth. Old school way of having crabs. My garlic noodles were extra dry with barely any garlic. The only thing I enjoyed the most were the appetizers. I have reservations for the end of the month and Im hoping things will change by then, if they don't I found another favorite seafood spot you will see me in alot this summer. I came for happy hour. I enjoyed the grilled oysters and the adult capri sun. there is a bar and large conference room type tables for big groups. there is a special for up to 4 people that includes shrimp, crawfish, crab legs and clams. it's $35 per person and includes corn potatoes and bread. Most people were there in groups for the special. it's pretty crowded after work. there is also a full bar i had my usual snow crab legs with light butter. i had one adult capri sun and a tap beer. read more
