Been coming here for years. Love this place. Sometimes they have to clean up on the customer services but overall the flavor is great.

Food is good but service sucks after they got new workers now most of them lazy and have attitude every time I go.

I've been a loyal customer since we discovered this place in Garden Grove. We have held numerous events in both locations and have always been happy with the food and service. Since the Garden Grove location has burned down, we have been eating at the Cerritos location at least once or twice a month. All of which has always exceed or at least met expectations until tonight. Our typical order includes the pre-peeled shrimp, fries, coconut sea snails, rice, corn and sausage. To wash it down, the Lychee Ice tea is a must. Today however, the initial serving... mind you, I said initial (key word) of coconut sea snails, the sauce came out darker than usual and the flavor was off. There was a bitter after taste. Without thinking it would be an issue, we asked for a better batch. The waitress came out with a new serving, that tasted a little better but the sauce and snails were rediciously slimy. After a couple bites, with about 80% of the serving left, we returned it to the waitress because it was unedible. This place has never let me down up until today. We returned it to the kitchen, finished our food and received the check and they wanted to charge us for it. The lead server (one of whom routinely serves us) approached us and stated we didn't remove it from your check because we tried to fix it and when you returned it, you didn't say you wanted it off your check. Why in the heck would I want to pay for something that I did not eat. We explained to the waitress that it was extremely slimy, which even affected the broth. As many times we have eaten here, we never had it that bad. She gave us this look as if we have never tried it before or know what we were even talking about... We have been eating here for years and I've been recommending this place to friends for quite some time... It's a shame when an awful experience is countered with a snarky employee. If we weren't approached that way, I would have happily tacted on what the server removed from our bill as an added tip, we weren't looking for a hand out. read more

Shrimps were HUGE!!! Steamed just right, everything would have been perfect until i tasted the sauce.. the sauce (cannonball) was too salty for me.. eating at a place like this, i usually peel my shrimp, dip it back and then eat it.. but with their sauce. I decided to just eat the shrimp without dipping it back. If you have a tastebud for saltiness, then this is the place for you. The environment is very friendly and CALM. (Not crazy like places in Westminster) They have other variety of foods(non seafood) like Carne asada fries, whoaat!!! Yes CARNE ASADA FRIES so if you have friends that seafooditarian . Had to try this place since I LOVE LOVE LOVE boiling crab and most reviews say it's better than boiling crab. Sadly I don't think this place compared at all. The flavor doesn't come close. My real issue is with the 4 girls standing in front the whole time. WHY?? And two guys that follow each other around to see where people are with finishing. WHY?? This is way too much overhead for such a small restaurant. Now I see why prices are the way they are. They need to pay for useless folks to stand around and chat all night. We've been here twice and the service is phenomenal. Even when it's packed it's awesome. The cerritos location beats the other one in Garden Grove. Everything here is great. Obviously the shellfish are the main attraction but I've tried the carne asada fries, the corn bowel or the deep fried oysters. All cooked to perfection. The price is reasonable for what you get and the atmosphere is casual read more

The food taste good. Could be compared to boiling crab. Cajun fries are delis, wings are good, they even have peeled shrimp! Staff is very attentive. I would give this place 5 stars if i wouldn't have see a water bug sprinting under the corner table on our last visit . So one star for cleanliness? Service was great! Food was very good and flavorful. I really enjoyed it because it wasn't oily whatsoever. We order 1lb of all the flavors (not sure what they call it), fried catfish & cajun fries as the side, asada fries with a sunnyside up egg on top, shrimp pull~boy, fried calamari and spicy garlic edamame (which I believe lacked flavor). My family and I went here for Mother's day because we love Claws. We traveled all the way from Irvine (which is 30 minutes WITHOUT traffic) to eat here. The food, as always, is delicious. The size of the shrimps are huge. The fries are nice and crispy. Unfortunately, our waitress, JEANIE, was terrible. You'd think that i'll only dock a star or two for the bad service but since it was Mother's Day and Jeanie gave an attitude to the two mothers in the family, well.... in my opinion, giving them 1 star is a compliment. I'd give them 0 or negative if that was possible. Everyone knows that restaurants during Mother's day gets packed. So why work that day if you can't provide the best service? or better yet, why work in a restaurant if you're going to be an absolute shit to your customers? She complained to us for ordering a drink we've ordered multiple times in the past (Peach and Mango tea combined). I don't even know how many times we've ordered it, our previous waiters/ waitresses are even the ones to suggest to mix the syrup. And Jeanie refused to make it in the beginning. Every time we asked for a refill, she gave us an attitude. In the end, she lectured (I can't even give you a nicer word) us that next time, we aren't allows to order a Peach and Mango tea. Next! Every time Jeanie would take away an empty plate, she would reach across a person who is eating, without warning, to get the plate. My uncle had to sit back to let her through and almost hit my mom with a plate because my mom didn't know Jeanie was getting a plate beside her. Third, my family likes to use food gloves when eating there. Jeanie did not give us enough food gloves and we had to her for more gloves. She looked as us, and said "You need more gloves? I gave you guys 10 pairs. You should have enough." Well, 2 people in my party did not have gloves and no, we did not hide them from her. So yes, she did not give us enough gloves. Unfortunately, while the food was delicious, our service was terrible and it affected our experience. Because it was Mother's Day, it made it much worse because we wanted our day to be special for the mothers. I don't think we'll travel this far out anymore for this reason and if we do, we will make sure Jeanie is NOT our waitress. Edit: went there again cause their food is good. Once again, the service is lacking. CINDY was not welcoming at all. She was the one working the register. She was rude and declined every request we had. We were a party of 10 (8 adults and 2 kids). 5/8 of the adults had already arrived and she refused to seat us. It was their "policy" to seat the only when half the party had arrived. So we requested if we could order food already since we are definitely eating there. They said we can't order ahead. I don't even know how many times my family has ordered ahead in other restaurants. I've also never heard of a business where the manager is "busy." So we couldn't even talk to anyone else. Ridiculous. I will make a point to try to convince my family to eat elsewhere next time. read more

This place has a delicious variety of food. My favorite is the crawfish. Cannonball medium is good but the spice level varies sometimes and can be a little too much. Even thought kicking crab is right next door i used to drive 10 more minutes to claw just to get their peeled shrimp. I get it togo atleast twice a month and have been doing that 3-4 years. I always requested extra lemon, just lemon, and all of the sudden they started charging extra for the lemon. It would be free if i ate in but since its to go they started charging me. Extra charge, just bad customer service. Switched over to kicking crab, i thought the tasted were similar but i think kicking crab sauce actually tastes better and more fresh seafood. read more

Be prepared to eat with only your fingers. We ordered 1 pound of Shrimp head-on and 1 pound of crawfish with two potatoes mixed with cannonball sauce. We also ordered the roasted corn and it was so good. They give you lemon wedges for you to squeeze to make a dipping sauce. Service is pretty quick. read more

My hubby and I love this place because they offer peeled shrimp! A great option for those who don't like the mess. :) we get the peeled shrimp, cannonball and it is good everytime! The food here was absolutely delicious, the restrooms were very clean, and the shrimp was monstrous. You all may be thinking, "Then why a 1?" Well here's my answer. The service was absolutely terrible and they charged us for the dumbest things like vinegar!! Our waitress Jeanie was uttermost rude and it seemed like she was very inexperienced (Btw she's the lead waitress). We asked her for a Peach Mango Iced Tea and she said," sorry we can't make that." So we asked another waitress and she simply said ok and prepared one. Then we asked for a refill and Jeanie said in the rudest tone," Fine but next time we can't make that for you." I think the hype is finally over. In the past few times I've been here, the wait is at a minimum of 1 to 11/2 hours. Came in and got seated right away for a party of 8. Typically they require that EVERYONE is there to be seated. Parking: In the last few years this area of town has gotten A LOT busier due to the new restaurants opening. So, best of luck with getting a parking space. Food: I think the "cajun" taste has evolved since it's opening. Doesn't taste the same to me, but still taste good. Hence the 3 stars. Service: Average to poor. Got charged the typical MANDATORY service fee for a party of 6 or more. Even though our waitress came 3 or 4 times. Honeyyyyyyyy when I tell you, this was my first time at this place and we had the pleasure of meeting miss Alphina, she is a doll, super polite, answered all of our questions, smiled profusely, and was bubbly the entire time... her service was soooo awesome my group and I almost regret changing our diet come the 1st of the month (sept. 1st). She's the best waitress there and I'm glad she waited on our table! Thank you for your great service and awesome attitude. Look: The restaurant front is pretty standard its right next to Sake 2 me in a popular plaza down south st in cerritos.The inside has pretty comfy seatings the middle has booths and along side the restaurants has tables and chairs.The theme i guess is suppose to be "pirate" i didn't get it at first why there was a huge skull by the hostess there wasn't much pirate elements for what they were going for.The place was clean and didn't reek of fish or spices some places do and it just isn't very appetizing. Service/Experience. The service was excellent the hostess was quick and with a smile, she was originally going to give us a table seating but my roommate wanted a booth and ask the hostess was pleasant about it no attitude and gave us the seat we wanted.The server was attentive and helpful, I asked her about the menu and if the process was similar to "boiling crab" she was on point and knowledgeable.All around the service was good it seemed like they all kind of took care of each others tables we actually didn't see our original server after she took our order and 2 other guys took over. Food/Beverage 2 waters 1 sprite 1 clam chowder 2 king crab leggs medium cajun/butter garlic 2 lbs medium cajun/butter garlic 1 cup of rice 2 potatoes 2 corns The clam chowder was really good wasn't too salty it was nice and creamy not watery the potatoes were firm and the right amount of clams,my roommate and i shared we both looked at each other and nodded with agreement,"its good". The marinate/seasoning on the king crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, and corn was very good i can usually tell right away by the redness and the amount of minced garlic, in the sauce.The crab legs was "fat" it has a good amount of meat so their picking is good, the shrimp were large though we did find a super small shrimp inside the bag but the rest was good size shrimps the potatoes and corn was the perfect sides it hits the spot. Partial to the star missing is because well i've gone to a few other "boiling crab'esc" places and its just still not boiling crab BUT Claws definitely comes closer to a lot of the other ones i've been to.I live by this place and boiling crab is all the way in orange county so i'm happy that this place is much closer in distance and taste. Restroom: The restroom area is in the back of the room on the way to the restrooms you'll pass by a little wash area(co-ed). The mens restroom was small 1 urinal and one stall it was clean and pretty straight to the point.This was the other half of why a star was lost, for a restaurant where you have to eat heavily seasoned garlicy and oily food a running faucet is a must.The faucet in the restroom was not bolted/glued on the counter it didn't run but it dripped.This just isn't a good look or very sanitary you can rinse your hand if you had the patience like i did but imagine those that don't they'll be touching the doors and whatever else.I mentioned you do pass by a wash area outside of the restrooms but i still can imagine using the restroom and not using the dripping water to even rinse a little inside.I did continue to wash my hands outside just because i really don't like the smell of garlic on my hands that stuff usually sticks so i needed a heavier flowing water. Final thought: I would definitely come back to Claws whenever i have cajun seafood cravings the seasoning was well done, the restaurant is clean, and the service is good.I just hope they fix that faucet problem. read more

We have been coming here since it opened. Saturday was our first time with our 12 month old. Upon being seated I asked the waiter for restrooms. After going in to the handicap stalls to check If there was a changing table for children I noticed there wasn't. I walked out and asked the waiter if I had missed it somehow... after-all it is a family restaurant. The waiter told me there was no changing table. Fine! I walked out to the car to change my baby. When I came back in and was ready to order i asked waiter for a high chair. They bring out the high chair and it's way too low for my little one to reach his food. I guess their tables were built taller than average. I asked for a kids menu and NOPE, no kids menu available. The waiter recommended ordering sides for my little one. Why do I need to purchase 3-4 sides to complete a meal to feed my child ... in the end, the order will be so big in portion it will go to waste because my child wont finish the sides. Finally, the waiter gives us the bill and as my husband is waiting for his credit card back another waiter passes by and asks if we were done using the high chair... my child was still sitting in it! Then I walk to restroom and my husband was carrying our child and put the diaper bag on the high chair... well shortly after another waiter asked him if he was done and so my husband got annoyed and gave it up. The waiter still had not brought back our card. Our experience here was everything but pleasant. We couldn't enjoy our family outing dinner. I will not be returning to this place! read more

My first time here and I got the 3lbs meal deal with shrimp, mussels, and crawfish with cannon ball spicy flavor. It was so salty and peppery that I couldn't even finish eating it and it was not cheap too. My server was so sweet but then she left for her break and no one checked up on us since. I have been a manager of multi-million dollar restaurants. My biggest problem with this restaurant is the manager , he is arrogant, stand and watches employees bust their ass and he does nothing. Secondly it's not kid friendly. No menu for them. I will say that the opening crew that came from the Buena Park were awesome, since they went back the service has become worse.
