I used to go to Clays quite a bit when my kids were younger. I've gone a few times since with friends. It always had good food and had really friendly people working there. I went again today with friend. THE BLONDE YOUNG GIRL TAKING OUR ORDERS WAS BEYOND RUDE! She barely spoke, didn't look at us, never said thank you, etc. When my friend was paying, the girl said something none of us could understand. She repeated herself without any change in her tone. We were able to figure it out. When she brought the food to the table, she still said nothing. The food was really good, but we will not be going back there because of her. The food is good but the service is crap!! You order your food and sit. Someone brings your food but you never see anyone come to your table after that. We had a party and were charged 18% service fee yet got no service. They didn't put tables together like every other restaurant does. Then we were told we had to put our tables back. Er only saw a girl once that bused our table but didn't Caine back for the rest. We had to go back up to get more drinks. This place has been there a long time and we used to go there regularly. Although I have been here before a while ago I'm only giving a review about the crawfish. I can't really say this is every weekend but I happen to see my email which had crawfish 4.99lb for 10lb and for me and my daughter that was the perfect about. Now let's get down to the "meat and potatoes" of this review......The Crawfish!!! Let me start by saying that the seasoning is good has a nice little kick. The sizes range in our batch we had a couple of big ones but not a lot we have med to small. But for my craving I had it was fine. Towards the bottoms we got more legs than the crawfish so I was a little disappointed in that part. The one thing I wasn't crazy about was the charge of butter that they put in the little cup, with 10lb we went through 4. I had to add the seasoning which was extra to my butter which made it better. The potato and corn were good, the table next to me had a sausage, which I should of got. Now if you check in with Yelp you also get a free Cobler, we had peach. Nice flavor but a little to but crust/dough it reminded me more of a bread pudding. The place itself is cool you have your choice of indoor or outside seating. The staff is very polite and aways checking on you. This is good family spot enjoy eating. read more

The facilities and atmosphere are very family friendly. Everything looks great. Very clean! It's pretty much self-service. Stand at the counter to place your order. They give you a number and you can choose where to sit. You fix your own drinks. It's very similar to Dairy Queen but with greater atmosphere and space. They hold back the receipt until the end of the meal so that the server can bring it to you with the little tray with mints and tip request. My older daughter ordered chicken fried steak which she compared to school cafeteria food. I had chicken strips which were okay. There didn't seem to be any flavor in the chicken or it's breading. It would have been better if served with gravy. The coleslaw was good. My youngest daughter ordered the burger which she said was fantastic. We also ordered onion rings and fried pickles. I was excited to try this place. Indoor and outdoor seating, family friendly, and a petting zoo? Sounded like a perfect place for a lunch with my sister and 4 year old nephew. Yeah, it wasn't. Parking was easy. Ordering was quick. You go to the counter and order but you don't close out your check. You get a number but you also have a waitress. It's one of those weird service hybrid models that is confusing because it's rare. Why don't they just pick counter service or waitress, but this way was just confusing. Our waitress was very attentive, she kept our drinks filled, and she was pleasant the whole time. Our food came out quick. The queso was not even luke warm and cold queso is never good. Then our regular meals came out. I had ordered the fried shrimp poboy. It looked totally fine but it was AWFUL. The shrimp was rubbery and gross. It was like it had been frozen for way too long and then fried. I was hungry but didn't eat half. Everyone else was ok with their food. After my awful food, we decided to go outside and see the advertised petting zoo. We found 2 chickens inside a coop that you couldn't get near and $5 pony rides. That's it. The $5 pony rides were for kids to go in a circle 5 times on a horse tied to a lead. What a rip off. There was a sandbox out in the sun and no other animals. We asked and they said there were rabbits but they didn't know where. What?? They said there used to be goats, but where did they go?? The positives of this place is that it's really rustic and cute. The back area was being decorated for a wedding reception which looked to be nice. A truly unique place with great food. This is a family friendly place with inside and outside seating in a rustic style. You order when you enter, grab your seats and they will bring you your food and any drink refills. They have rooms that can be separated for parties. They do serve beer and Margaritas. The burgers are good but they have the best chicken fried steak around. Dress comfortable and come to relax and have a great home style meal. Great place for small kids also. This place has lots of seating in both front and back both indoor and outdoor. They have rooms in the back for large parties, meetings, or gatherings of any kind. The front outside area has a large court yard where kids where running. I e heard they have petting zoos or horses there at time. They also have mini merry go rounds and a large sand pit area for little ones to play. NOW to the real part FOOD and SERVICE the food is mostly American style cooking. Most seemed kind of bland or cafeteria quality. I must say they have a signature blueberry peach cobbler that was very delicious. Most of the staff seemed to be teenagers from the area. This has become a frequent spot for my family and I. The place is huge with plenty of seating including outdoors! You can book parties/events here as well. They have a sandbox & an area for the kids to play and run around & it's fenced so you can easily keep track of them. They also have some farm animals available for viewing which adds such a country feel to the environment. The food, the food is some real southern comforting food. I've ordered almost everything off their menu from their appetizers to their entrees. Oh and crawfish season! The best deals on crawfish in Katy/Houston area is right here. I have no complaints on anything I've ever ate here. Their margs are good, they have a good selection of beer & this place is just a good place for family gatherings or gatherings of any kind. The reason I give this place 4 stars is because of their customer service. They never once came back after the first time of asking what we needed and then when they delivered everything, things were still missing so we ended up having to go up to the counter to ask for what we needed. I have had this place bookmarked for a long time and finally got to check it out twice recently. My first visit was on a Thursday night when they had a special of chicken fried steak with two sides for $9.99 which I took advantage of and chose garlic mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. After ordering at the counter and getting my order number and drink, I sat outside with the food arriving in about 10 minutes. It was a good tasting meal and at that price represented good value. I gave it a 3.5. For checking in on Yelp, I was also given a free serving of cobbler with ice cream for dessert which was very good. The second visit a couple of weeks later was again for dinner and this time I wanted their regular hamburger and fries. On this visit, the line to order at the counter was about 8 people deep but moved very slowly. A couple of people left before ordering and it took me about 15 minutes of waiting to order. The problem was that there was only one lady working the front and she not only took orders and payments but also filled the alcoholic drink orders which really slowed things up. Finally I ordered and paid and then went to get my iced tea. I chose unsweetened tea but then realized they were out of sweetener so then I tried the sweet tea and went to my table. After sitting down, I realized that my tea was not sweetened at all so I went back to get some Diet Coke. I reported this problem to a waiter. After about 10 minutes my meal came out. The burger was ok but I didn't finish my fries as they were just your typical frozen out of a bag kind. I gave this meal a 3. The real attraction of eating here is the exterior and interior decor. The restaurant has a large parking lot and an old timey wooden western theme. There is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating available and this place is very kid friendly. It has a sand pit, a large outdoor play area with AstroTurf, faux storefronts depicting a western town with a chicken coop and a horse in a small pasture for viewing. I can see why kids would like coming here. You order your food at the counter and get your own soft drinks and then seat yourself. Then your server appears and introduces themself. On my first occasion she brought me my food. The second visit had another person bring me my food. Of course this means a tip is expected for partial waiter service that I don't see being needed. I give an overall score of a 3. I think you come here more for the architecture than the food. The food is average. I might come back but only if the circumstances warrant it. read more

If I could give zero stars, then I would. Service was AWFUL for a party of 10. They automatically include gratuity for parties of 8 or more however, we saw our waitress maybe twice. Staff was rude, but what really made this location AWFUL was the manager. A simple question of asking for a pen to sign my bill and a question as to why at we paying an automatic tip when we saw our waitress twice if that. He IGNORED me and I asked if he heard me. A waste of money spent and will NEVER return. We will be speeding the word on this. Not acceptable considering we've been here before. Do better Clays you take peoples money in a heartbeat! The ambiance is great for kids. Food is mediocre or it might have been our experience. Food took for ever and they actually lost our food. The waitress was very nice but the manager seemed indifferent to the situation. If I came back I would only get the chips and salsa and a drink. Other than that not sure I would. They are 3.5 stars but not 4 stars. I love that they have a kid friendly outside patio area. The chicken tenders to me taste like they are chicken breast cut into strips. The chicken strips are not seasoned or moist like Canes tenders. (Which were a little disappointing) The mash potatoes are made fresh with red potatoes from what I can taste. The green beans were seasoned with bacon and onions. The toast was pretty yummy that came with my chicken strips meal. The star rating is really for the good price for crawfish. 5lb for $20 with 1 corn and 2 potatoes. The crawfish was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The shell wasn't stuck like some places with over cooked crawfish. The service was ok since it is a order at the counter then they bring it out to the table. Yo what the heck Yelpers this place has been here a long time hadn't been in years and was hesitant about it because because of the current 3 star ratings. However last Sunday I was in the area hungry and decided to go check it out again so glad I did definitely. Alex had a classic burger that she really enjoyed I had Country fried chicken fried chicken mashed potatoes fried okra and toast which were all very good this is one of my favorite dishes and I put in the top 10 that iPad anywhere. As for dessert I don't always order dessert but if there's a free checking offer why not blueberry and peach cobbler with ice cream absolutely the bomb and you can't beat free. Though I would still enjoyed it just as much if I had to pay for it I'm going back to get that chicken offer again lol. Go check them out for yourself I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Coming from someone who is often in groups that includes many young children, this place gets five stars. I got the black bean veggie burger (hold the mayo) and fries. The fries were delicious (lots of delicious salty seasoning), and the black bean burger was good, as I feel a basic black bean burger should be, and there were a good number of onions and pickles on my burger. Service at the counter was very friendly and helpful both times I went up (once to order, then once to get my cobbler for checking in on yelp - yay). But the main reason this place gets 5 stars is from a parent's perspective - if you sit outside, there is so much room for kids to run around while parents keep an eye on them while still having a conversation. There is a sand pit, a mini-carousel that looked like it cost $1 for a ride and some other plastic animals that kids could sit on and pretend to ride. There were kids rolling around in the sand pit non-stop the whole time we were there, and it looked like they were having the time of their life. It was a little chilly the night I was there, but they have lots of heat lamps (mounted high on the wall so no kids could reach them or knock them over), so despite not bringing a jacket, I actually wasn't cold. read more

The food was so fresh and delicious! The manager came by our table several times to check on us, which was super nice and they had hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes around the tables. All of the silverware is real silverware and comes individually wrapped. We sat outside and it was a beautiful day. The kiddos played on the green turf and pets are allowed to sit on the patio with you. This place has a really nice vibe and everything that we ordered was super tasty. Hubby gave the red beans and rice a 6-7 on a scale from 1-10 and the catfish an 8. My burger was cooked just as I requested and the fries were perfect, crunch on the outside and soft in the middle. I didn't take any pics of the outside this time, but I do have some from a while back when they were still serving breakfast. I will also post some pics of the food that we ordered. read more
