My car was vandalized in Sept. when someone put a hole in my gas tank. I had it towed to Clayton Auto Service. It was hard to find a gas tank for a 2014 Honda but they did. It was a week later that I pickef it up. But, there was a vapor leak. AAA towed it to Concord as I live in NV. They sealed the leak and drove it awhile to make sure all was good. I'm here to update my review since I have noticed that some ignorant people don't know how to treat or speak to service workers. I have trusted this business and it's employees with several of my vehicles and have sent dozens upon dozens of my friends and family here because they are the best around with the highest quality and most efficient work. I have never left this place without my problem fixed and a smile on my face. They are by far the most affordable in town and I really love how they actually talk to you like a person and want to help with whatever you're going through, it makes me feel heard and not taken advantage of like I get at most other mechanics. With all of this said, I have been there a lot (bad car luck for a while) and I have heard customers talk to these nice people like they're objects or as if they're stupid. they are careless about the damage they have done to my car. They did not place the bolt back on the battery that they have installed ,which resulted in damage ( wire harness burned ) . They are refusing the pay for the damage . How fair they are ?. So, everyone be careful! They can damage your car while fixing and deny it. This problem is under investigation. It was clear that there was no bolt placed back which caused sparks therefore killed the battery and burned the harness coming from the battery . He is at fault yet still not willing to pay for it. I brought my car here for it's 60k mile tune up after Ford was going to charge me almost $500 :( I called Clayton Auto and they gave me a run down, explaining that not everything they do in the 60k tune up is necessary, and that they only replace things if needed which cuts down cost. They were able to do everything for just over $100, so I obviously saved a lot of money and have found a new auto place! I will definitely be going here for my regular tune ups, etc, especially now that my warranty has expired with Ford. The staff was very friendly and I did feel like they were trying to be honest and give me the best possible deal. It's also conveniently located on Clayton Rd, so it's likely you can combine some errands before you drop your car off! I don't always get that feeling with auto places!! This place is Joke, They claim to be a DMV Partner so I showed up to get some answers to why my Stickers never showed up in the mail after sending fees and other needed paperwork. I waited for 20 minutes for the office person to show up, She never did.. Then someone from the back said that she would only come out and help me for a Fee of $75 dollars. I had already mailed my fee of $759 to DMV and they had already cashed my check. This place is only a Scam to make money from DMV mistakes. What happened to customer service and helping people.. Saved my life!! (Literally, probably) On my drive home from work I noticed my brakes making a weird sound, so I brought my car in to this place on a whim (never been before). In their inspection they found that my brakes had actually been whittled down to almost nothing. Despite the fact that I came in an hour before closing, they managed to get the parts from another location to perform the repair this very night! I can't believe how they were able to pull it together on such short notice - any other place would've surely turned me away + I would've been out of luck. These people are dishonest. I would not advise taking your business there. They charged me $60 to perform and oil change on my truck and in the parts section of the invoice, charged me for 13 quarts of synthetic diesel oil. The engine on my truck only takes 10 quarts. When I brought this to their attention, they told me that mine was a "can" job and as such they charge for oil regardless of the amount actually put into the engine. More of a "con" job, in my estimation. Don't patronize this business. I intend to file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of the District Attorney's Office. This practice violates Business and Professions Code section 17200. read more

Over priced and I'm pretty sure I caught them lying about there procedure and service. Told me they had to remove a cross arm and portion of exhaust to get to the transmission pan. I was doing a transmission flush. Charged me over 700$ but after calling around the going rate was 400 to 600$ I only went there because I was in a hurry and I usually call around for the best price. After the work was done I checked underneath to see if they unbolted what they said they did and it looked untouched. On top of that I looked at the pan to see if it was obstructed and it wasn't. I also looked up YouTube videos for my truck and the work that I needed to do can be done with out removing anything. The mechanic tends to blame the computer for over prices there clients by saying the computer is telling me to do this. Please do your homework and shop around. read more

I have been having my car serviced here for a couple years, and today I took it in to have a bulb changed in my turn signal. They were going to charge me $90 for labor to change a bulb (which takes less than 5 minutes) plus $3 for the bulb. Had I not been a regular customer, perhaps I could understand this, but I have had my regular service done by them and not very long ago. I came right when they opened on a Saturday at 8:30 am and there was no one in front of me. All I needed was an oil change and Samir said that it would take 1 hour. I thought that was a bit long for a simple oil change when they have 4 people working on cars. Usually, it takes thirty minutes to do a oil change at most. The reason was because they decide to work on cars that are already in the shop from night prior instead of working on a customer's car that comes in right when they open for business. I've never seen a auto shop that is so inefficient. Instead of having one of the guys do a oil change job first and get that out. They instead choose to work on other people's cars that aren't even waiting for their car. So a supposedly 1 hour oil change takes 2.5 hours due to inefficiency and lack of customer's respect. I obviously will not be bringing my business back here. read more

I'm somewhat at a loss to understand the high reviews on this shop. I chose it based on it being rated #1 in Concord, yet my experience was hardly satisfactory. The source I would point to as the primary origination of their problems is poor communication between the various technicians and lack of professionalism. My reason for the visit was a pre-purchase inspection on a used Prius I was considering buying. Problem #1) I called ahead for a quote, and they told me $120. When I got there they said it would be $160. I told them if I'd known that in the first place I would have likely gone elsewhere, and they did at least agree to give it to me for $120 after all. That was only after I made it plain I was not about to pay more than they quoted me, however. What am I supposed to think about their ethics if their phone price is one thing and once they have you in the shop it's another? Problem #2) They called me when it was done, and the technician (who had not worked on the car directly) gave me a list of issues. When I called back fifteen minutes later to ask more questions, a different technician gave me another issue the first hadn't mentioned. And when I actually came to pick it up, the person ringing me up told me about a THIRD initially unmentioned issue. Sloppy, poor communication. Problem #3) I repeatedly heard technicians squabbling and yelling at one another about who had or hadn't done what, and which way things should be done. Unprofessional, disorganized. I first went to this shop to have the heater replaed in my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. The shop did a fantastic jo. The heater works een bettter than the factory heater. the prolem is with the second job I had them do abot 4 months later. I had to have the cig lighter replaced in the truck so I can power my dashcam. They called me am hour later to tell me they removed the panel and removed the plug. Had to wait for a clip to come in the next day, I am think fantastic, an hour to remove the panel and plug. anothe hour to insstsll the new plug and mount the panel. about 15 minutes to replace the plug and 2 hours labor. $175 hr lor rate is what the shop charges. my calculations this with parts should be around $400.00. Keep in mind I had another big job lined up for them to do next month would a minimum be $1000.00. back to the plug. I was charged almost $800.00. The parts in total were $75.00. I understand the mechanic wanting to make money for he company. Tacking on labor hours that are exorbitant is beyond belief. Especially considering that you not only lost a customer you lost a big job next month. commen sense should have hit the b owner between the eyes when he saw $800.00 for replacing a cig lighter. You now I am thinking Toyota service department might have been cheaper than this shop. I have left a comment with the shop. If they get back with me and make this right I will give you an up date. if no up date I leave it as is it. I give them 1 week to make it right dat3d 4-1-23. and no this is no April fools joke! read more

I had spoken to Irfan by phone (as I live far away) to get some car advice as I had intermittent starting problems in my car. I was referred by a friend to him and after listening to my car issues that I have been having since a month, he was able to diagnose that 99% it would be the starter that needs to be replaced. Before I spoke to him, I had already gone for a diagnosis with a local car shop and they charged me 67$ and said everything was good-battery, starter and charging system.
