They don't seem too keen on getting new customers. Here's my experience: In Jan 2010, in the midst of a cross country move and converting our home to a rental, the last thing on my checklist was furnace & a/c service. I chose Clean Air because of the reviews they have and they had been to our house on a prior occasion in response to a warranty call and had seemed to do good work (which is why I gave them two stars). Setting up the appointment was easy online and I even got a confirmation email. So, on the appointed day, I arrived at our empty house and sat for the required 4 hour window, with no sign of a tech. I even gave them an extra 20 minutes or so to accommodate for rush hour traffic. I finally called and was connected to Mr. Branda, who told me he had had a family emergency and was enroute to the hospital. I'm willing to cut some slack for emergencies, really I am, but it seemed odd that I hadn't received a call from them. He told me to call the office and get my appointment rescheduled. Here's the rub...my family was already moved and I was supposed to follow so this had been the only week I had left to do this. When I called, I was told no-way, no-how could they get me rescheduled for that week or even weekend. It didn't seem to be an issue to them that THEY HAD STOOD ME UP...not the other way around. What surprised me even more is that I have never heard one peep from these people or Mr. Branda to follow up with me. They had both my cellphone and email. If I were a business owner, I'd have bent over backwards to ensure that I got and kept that new customer, but it would appear that this company has all the customers it needs. I've thought about giving this company one more chance, but the lack of customer service and follow-up has really turned me off, so I think I'll look elsewhere. By the way...I wanted to build a relationship and have yearly scheduled service and possibly replace the whole system in the next couple of years. I guess Mr. Branda has missed out!! read more

Roy and the Team are now part of the family. The installation of my four zone system as it is the first system like it in the county due to the Comfort 2 Intelligence monitoring. The install had its adventures, not much went exactly as planned and here is the reason I gave them the top rating. When working with a company what I look for is not all the promises but the end result. They stuck it through when it was tough not easy 1 2 3 but super tough. Thats the character I look for in a contractor. I would recommend Roy and his group to anyone looking to have work done or a new system installed in their home or business. I highly recommend Clean Air HVAC. The appointment process was easy, they were very accommodating to work around my schedule. The rep that they sent for my appointment, Rick, was very professional and had the expertise expected for the product he was talking about. He listened attentively to our concerns and answered any and all questions that we had - in the end, he was able to recommend a product that would meet our needs. He gave us a quote on the system he recommended, and to be honest, it was within our budget. We received many quotes prior to this appointment, so to see a system that we wanted within our budget was a sight to see. He was a no-pressure type of sales guy, he said that if we had any further questions, to give him a call and he would be readily available to answer all the questions until we were satisfied. Andrew, who is the manager, wiling came over to further explain everything. He assured us that everything that was going to be installed was what we needed, along with the fact that my family has severe seasonal allergies, and the system would help clean the air inside our home. The installation team, Jim and Richard, took their time to make sure that everything was being installed properly, tested, and re-tested the system. The first thermostat that they installed was a lemon, so they order a new one and got that installed. They then re-tested the system until they were satisfied with the way it was functioning. The installation process took a total of 2 days, and after the end of each day, they cleaned up each time, and it looked like they were never in my home. Rick and Andrew came on both days to make sure that the install crew was doing what they needed to do. They also wanted to make sure that we didn't have any further questions, but most of all, wanted us to feel at ease with such a project taking place in our home. My family is very happy with our new AC and furnace that were installed. Again, I highly recommend that you use Clean Air HVAC for your AC and furnace needs. read more

Of course our AC unit broke on the first 100 degree day. I had a recommendation for Clean Air so I called them and they came the same day. MARK was such a nice guy and he knew immediately what was wrong. Went out to his truck got the part and fixed it. No upselling whatsoever and no gouging. This summer I have seen 3 techs, including Roy the owner. They tried twice to fix the leak I have and on the 3rd try found the whole outdoor unit needs to be replaced. Super nice guys and very accommodating. Service is very important to me and these guys do it right. Thank you for making a painful and hot time a little more tolerable. This company installed a furnace and air conditioner at my residence. They provided a thorough estimate with multiple options and the price was reasonable. The Project Manager, Jeremy, coordinated the job from start to finish and was always available for questions and concerns.Their technicians, Ernesto and Rich, showed up on time, did a great installation job and went above and beyond my expectations. Ernesto painted areas that were exposed after the old units were removed. They identified and resolved an unrelated gas leak. So grateful to Roy for getting our heater running! PGE came out a month ago to relight our pilot, but said that our thermostat needed to be replaced for it to work consistently. Well, he was right about our heater not working - but Roy found that it was only a loose connection issue. He had it running in about 30 minutes. We had a "nest" thermostat installed this winter and our experience with Clean Air was fantastic. Right after the new thermostat was installed, I thought my son had broken the glass on the front and Roy got right on the phone to get a replacement...turns out that the glass is designed in two pieces and my son didn't actually break it. *phew* I found every single person in the company to be helpful and professional, from the office (stayed open late one night for me to drive over and pick up paperwork), to installers (who gave me great information about training sessions through PG&E), and Roy, the owner (who drove over one night to deliver space heaters while the entire heating/cooling unit was being replaced). I highly recommend this company to anyone and everyone. UPDATE August 2018: They are still great. After undergoing construction, we asked them to come give our system a cleaning and once-over. My 28yr old Air Conditioner unit decided to quit working on the hottest day of the year while Rick from Clean Air was at my home selling me a new HVAC system. After seeing how bothered I was by the temperature rising in my home he called the owner Roy and had him come and repair my AC unit so I would have air until they could get a new unit installed. They had many other customers waiting for services but took time out of their day to repair my unit. It fortunately was only a capacitor and within 5 minutes I was back with air conditioning. Our heater wasn't turning on and in winter with a newborn, we needed someone right away. I called Clean Air on a Saturday thinking it would be impossible to find someone to come out. Roy was able to come take a look at our unit and we couldn't be more impressed with the service we recieved. I highly recommend CleanAir HVAC of Concord. In our case we used an untested installer to install our Mini split AC because we thought the $4,600 cost that home depot installer quoted us was absurd and were trying to do it on the cheap. I explained this at intake to Desire who is a sweetheart! The installation looked like a success however the AC would not work. We now needed trusted professionals to come in and save the day. CleanAir HVAC sent Joe out and he methodically rechecked the work, pulled up the installation guide on the computer and found the mistake. Joe corrected it and now the AC works like a charm. So for less than a total charge of $100 I now know that my AC is installed correctly, the mistake that was made is now corrected and the AC now works fine. Hooray! You should be advised that Joe came to my home one hour earlier than the quoted time. However as I was not at home yet, Joe called me and patiently waited 20 minutes for me to return. There was no fuss and Joe at all times showed as friendly, professional, knowledgeable about AC's and likable as well. My experience with this company from intake to execution was stellar. read more

They are honest, when looking at replacing my HVAC Rick the estimator asked me a few questions and since my system was working (though 19-1/2 years old) he suggested I don't get rid of it unless their was a problem. (5 Stars) 2. I asked cost for a HVAC cleaning and Rick gave me cost however when I spoke to the office to confirm they told me it was better to use a service contract as it is $10 cheaper and they change filters each time they come. The only difference is that they do heater, air-conditioner on two trips and the 3rd is just a general check up rather than doing everything at one time. That makes a much better deal for the customer. (5 Stars). 3. The workers that did the service were great. (5 Stars) 4. Due to communication error I temp. changed review to 3 star after speaking with the vendor I realized that the problem was beyond their control and have revised rating to 5 star. read more

So my home warranty company referred my malfunctioning air conditioner to this company. The people on the phone were very nice and they came out in a reasonable period of time. They get a few stars for that. The installer was a very angry man and he had a really awful attitude. He was the worst service person I have ever experienced and I have owned a home for a long time, so I've had quite a few. After he fixed one of the problems, he wouldn't even test it to make sure it worked. He wanted to do another part of the system with the same problem first. My wife asked politely if he would please test it to make sure the fix was working. He told her no and walked out and stayed in his van. I walked out and asked him to please test the first one before taking apart the 2nd one and he just said no. I called Clean Air and the very nice office staff called him and he complied. It worked, but he was looking pretty scary angry at that point and we told the company he was not welcome in my home any longer. He left. That is not a person that plays well with others and needs some deep lessons in customer service and anger management. read more

My husband and I had a not so great consolation with this company. I set up an appointment for 4 PM and he arrived at 2:30 luckily my husband was home at the time but my 2 year old was napping and I was at the store...it was inconvenient and unprofessional to show up an hour and a half earlier then scheduled. Then the estimator/ AC expert proceeded to tell us what we needed to have done without even looking at our system..He did mention he had just done a similar job at a home near ours but I felt as though just because we are neighbors doesn't mean our homes have the same issues or the same heating systems. He was pushy on us financing the job and even opening a Lowes credit card bc he is a contractor there. He then started to tell us how he hated doing jobs like ours bc he makes no money when doing them (ummm okay then we will be taking out money elsewhere thank you). He was also quite nosey about how my husband and I were going to pay for the job. Which in my opinion was none of his business. All in all it was an unpleasant first impression and we won't be doing business with them. read more

After having multiple problems with the installing company (which was not Clean Air), I contacted Clean Air, which was listed on the Trane website. Roy spent over an hour fine tuning the blower speed, etc. and answering questions I had concerning solutions to noisy heat runs. He was prompt, professional, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable. I had a problem with my A/C not cooling correctly. I contacted CleanAir to have the problem diagnosed. They were able to schedule an appointment that worked with my schedule. We've worked with Clean Air a few times and are generally very happy with their service; they came to our place almost a year ago to correct a leaking furnace pipe, and when it started leaking again during the Bay Area Stormpocalypse in December they sent someone out the same day (in the pouring rain) to do a temporary fix on the problem, and then came back a month later to replace the pipe seal on the roof for no additional charge. This place rocks and it was hell finally getting our system working. They came out to fix it and replaced broken parts but we were still having issues. They must have come out to our house 5 or 6 times! What impressed me was that they were never rude when they came out and were determined to get the issue fixed and that they did! I needed to find a furnace repair company to fix/replace my mother's furnace that had gone bad. Clean Air was on the approved vendor list of her condo association and I called them for an estimate. The estimator, who I believe was also the owner, was very professional. He even provided my mother a space heater that she could use while her furnace was inoperable. The job proved difficult but Clean Air got it done. My complaint was the mess they left behind and the lack of followup when I called to report the problem. There were fingerprints all over the sheet metal work on the ceiling of the condo where they had to install the new furnace and the carpet underneath was badly soiled. I've hired a carpet cleaning company to steam clean the carpets this week and I'm not quite sure how to deal with the ceiling. I sent Clean Air pictures of the ceiling and carpet. They admitted the ceiling should have been cleaned up but told me they used tarps on the carpet and weren't responsible for the mess. Nevertheless, they never offered to come over and clean the ceiling or reimburse me for any expense I might incur to get this done. For the $8000+ I paid them to replace the furnace, I'd expect a little more customer service. read more
