Fast service and a really delicious smoothie. I got the Tropical and it was uplifting and refreshing. The bathroom is unisex and very clean. There's a cute seating area and a huge bright window looking out onto Penn Ave. There are tables outside, and that looks fun. Stopped for the first time in a few years when I was in the area recently. It was disappointing to see the quality has gone down drastically, while the prices have remained the same. We always pop in on the way to work or after Orange Theory next door. What a great selection and everything is always fresh! Often they are preparing fresh ingredients such as fruit and produce when you are there. I like that they are helpful if you have a question and for recommendations. I don't always get a super healthy choice but even when I'm in the mood for something sweet they have just the thing. The space itself is clean and welcoming with WiFi and plenty of seating. Went here based off some reviews online that have raved it was one of the best places that serves the best acai bowls in Pittsburgh. However, as someone who has worked at an established acai based store and chain, the berry acai bowl with added protein did not meet my expectations at all. The service itself was very minimal and it took around 15 minutes for us to receive our bowls despite there only being one other customer before us. The consistency of the acai was very liquidy and even the smoothie consistency looked thicker and better. Scooping the acai out of the bowl was like scooping water or a melted ice cream bar. I did pick a couple red pepper flakes off the avocado toast, but the spice didn't bother me - if you're someone who isn't about a ton of seasoning, might want to tell them to hold/go easy on the red pepper flakes. Cost wise, it was ~$17 for the large smoothie and avocado toast, which is a tad pricey for my everyday lunch budget but to be expected with high quality and healthy ingredients. Had to wait a little bit (~15mins) because I placed my order right after they had a huge group come in, but I wasn't in a rush and didn't mind waiting. Food - I got the Carrot Cake bowl (a seasonal selection) and it was great! I could see them make it and they used fresh ingredients which is awesome. I feel like this is what your paying for with the price. Packaging - The packaging for my bowl was good and came with a spoon. Service - I'd say service was pretty average! I'm honestly not a huge fan of clean juice. I really enjoy smoothies and açaí bowls. I tried a few of their açaí and smoothie bowls and felt that they weren't sweet enough for my liking. Maybe it's because I always opt out of the added sugars they put inside (they're healthy ones like maple syrup and honey) but I'm not a fan of adding sugar to something that I feel should automatically be sweet. I'd rather them use sweeter fruit/ frozen fruit to naturally sweeten the smoothies and smoothie bowls. Recently I did try their protein smoothie, specifically, the recovery one. I do enjoy everything about this smoothie! I love the consistency of the smoothie and the flavor. I took the L and get it with everything in it (including the honey). Amazing juice bar! First of all, the ladies working here were outstanding. They made my experience so wonderful. They were extremely kind, patient, helpful and made delicious items! We got a bowl, juice, oatmeal and a few of the pastries. Everything was perfect! They use all organic ingredients and if anything happens to not be organic they have it listed up on the wall- awesome. The bowl was amazing- nice thick creamy base and beautifully ripe fresh fruit on top. The oatmeal was really good too! I'm never one to buy oatmeal while out because it's easy to make at home but their oatmeal was top notch. They used steel cut oats, almond butter, fresh fruit and some other stuff that that took it over the top. So good! We stayed here for well over an hour. Yes, yes, yes! I am officially one of Clean Juices biggest fans! FINALLY got to come here today after months of wanting to and wow am I said it took me so long. As soon as I walked in I was in awe. The entire place was so spotless and clean (just like their juice ;)). The menu was very easy to understand. The have smoothies, juice, açaí bowls, toast and oat bowls. The juices and shots you could have freshly prepared or already bottles. We got lucky as they had their grand opening yesterday so we're giving out a free juice or shot today! I tried the the Matcha Express shot which had an earthy taste but was pretty good and easy to take! It was just organic pineapple and organic matcha. Simple! I will definitely try another shot next time I stop in. I was so energized after! I also had the watermelon açaí bowl which is seasonal for the summer so hurry and get to Clean Juice soon to try it before summer is over. It was so refreshing with fresh pineapple, watermelon and coconut on top. The smoothie texture was perfect and it was super filling. I could not even finish it so you definitely get your money worth. I've been dying to try Clean Juice for a while, and I finally stopped in this afternoon and ordered the nutty açaí bowl and the white cold pressed juice. The nutty açaí bowl was very fresh and flavorful. I love almond butter, so this was a hit. It was topped with bananas and strawberries and their amazing granola, and it was surprisingly filling. The white cold pressed juice was fabulous! It tasted like the left over milk after you've had a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, only it was super healthy and full of super nutrients. It's like a treat in a bottle. It was marked at 30% off because the expiration date was approaching, so that was a plus. We sat outside because it was a gorgeous afternoon, but it was hot! A sweet lady came out with shots of the chocolate protein smoothie for us to try. It was a subtle chocolate taste, but very refreshing. Staff is nice. Facility is clean. But this $10.25 açaí bowl literally has no flavor. There's a smattering of strawberries and the granola tastes like lucky charms. Bananas were nicely ripe; but with all that's blended into this-- maple syrup, almond butter, cocoa... it tastes like nothing. My taste buds are like, what the hell? I'm eating it because I'm hungry, but there is no joy here. The açaí bowl I had at Costco the other day for the same size and half the price was 10x tastier (pleasant surprise). This is a let down, I'm sad to say, because I was excited. I looked at the menu and everything is ridiculously expensive. 3 juices for $38??? GFY. Also, the wall with photos of East Liberty 'locals' is notably lacking more people of color ( there's one token photo). It's just sad when a business nests itself in a neighborhood without any regard for the culture. I'd much prefer clean açaí with a nice bright berry flavor and a choice of flavorful toppings, with affordable choices that might inspire someone making minimum wage to explore a new healthy food. I really enjoyed my post-gym trip to Clean Juice. The space itself is clean and well laid-out with some nice bistro tables outside, which is lovely in the summer. The Clean Juice menu is really streamlined and easy to understand; every ingredient in a juice, smoothie, or bowl is listed under the name of the item. For a clean eating concept, the ability to know exactly what you are consuming along with calorie counts is a great touch. I ordered The Immunity One which contained orange, pineapple, carrot, turmeric, and lemon. For a juice that is being made to order from fresh ingredients, it came out pretty quickly. I also appreciated the fact that you could see right into the food-prep area, so you know everything is exactly as advertised: whole ingredients, no pre-made mixes, etc. The juice was delicious: a hint of tropical flavors, a vegetal bit of sweetness from the carrots, and touch of earthiness from the turmeric. Overall, it was really delicious. I can't wait to try some of the other creations that Clean Juice offers! The only thing that I didn't like so much was the price -- $9 for a juice. However, people who are way healthier than me probably would've had that juice as their entire breakfast, while I slurped it up and strolled right to brunch. Clean Juice is a chain that recently opened here in Pittsburgh. Most of the ingredients used in their creations are organic. The menu will specify which or you can ask the counter lady. I was en route to an event so I wanted to grab something small prior. I was blown away by the fact that you can "customize" your own organic juice when chosen off the menu. Certain add ons are available for a slight up charge. This juices start at about $8.95 for a 12 oz cup. They also sell prebottled juices and cleanses similar to what you may find elsewhere in two refrigerators. Much as though I wanted to try a juice I opted for a smoothie instead. I chose the "healthy heart" one which is made with almond butter, avocado, cinnamon, maple syrup, Himalayan pink sea salt and almond milk. The regular smoothies come in two sizes so I went with the smaller one. They also serve protein smoothies as well. In addition you can purchase healthy "bowls" of fruits and grains which would make a meal in itself. On the lighter side the offer two types of toast-one avocado and the other almond. The toast sells for $4.95 for two slices. I went with the avocado one. The place has free WiFi-passcode written on the wall and a gender neutral restroom. I got my smoothie and toast fairly quickly since the place was virtually empty. The smoothie was rich and quite filling and very good! The toast on the other hand seemed cold and had a lot of red pepper on it. I asked the lady about the toast and she apologized for the fact that their toaster is not warming up to a descent temperature. I noticed in the description afterwards that the avocado toast contains red pepper flakes as well as Himalayan sea salt. Granted this place is a bit pricey but again you are paying for organic food which always runs more. Most of the offerings appear vegetarian but cannot confirm completely if vegan friendly. I would assume however, that if you decide to purchase an organic juice with the add ons in the display case below the ordering area you most like can have a vegan drink. I should also note that if there is something you don't want in your drink listed then let them know to remove it. Organic coffee is also available as hot, iced, or bullet. Metered street parking is located just outside on busy Penn Ave. There is a lot about a block or two away but again it is city operated so you will be paying there as well. Am looking forward to returning to try out one of these organic juices which I can customize to my tastes. read more
