This was my first time ever getting eyelash extensions. I wanted to go to someone who specializes in Asian eyes because of my eye shape. I wanted natural looking lashes while some length. I was welcomed by Emi and she went over eyelash options ranging from thickness, eyelash curve, eyelash color and a variety of different styles. I knew I wanted the classic look. I didn't know there were so many different options! I was excited. I layer down and was wrapped in a comfortable blanket. There was soothing music playing in the background and I felt at ease. I fell asleep immediately, but was awake enough to feel her light touches on my eyelashes. A couple hours later and I awoke to beautiful lashes. I have had the extensions on for two weeks now and they still look wonderful! I don't think many have fallen off at all. My main goal was to be able to go on vacation and swim in the ocean without having to worry about my eyelashes, while having a low maintenance makeup look. I got so used to the impeccable service and work here and recently moved and while lash extensions where I'm at right now is only like $20, it's been mediocre at best, I can go to the most premium place and it's still not up to par with the quality I receive here. Whatever glue or technique they use, it actually lasts long and I don't notice it shedding at all because there's no weird gaps in between where now I just have no clue why I can't find anybody to replicate close to the same thing and I'm not even that picky. They're really professional and master of their craft, even before starting your first service, there is a through consultation to communicate exactly what you're looking for and even suggest what style fits your eye shape. There's a few color selection to choose from where most places only give you the option of getting black lashes. I have short thin sparse lashes that point down, along with almond shaped eyes. I've tried so many different lash places, and they all would place them on my eyes as though they're treating Caucasian or western eyes. They never looked right on my face. If you are looking for a place that does Asian style lash extensions, look no further. Serena is the absolute sweetest and does an amazing job at lashes! I've gotten the Ms. Clement style and two 3-week refills since then, and they look amazing every time. The lash retention is amazing, it still looks quite full by the time I get a fill. I will say that the prices are quite expensive even for extensions, I've seen full sets at other places go for the same price as her fills. BUT I think there are several things that Serena does so well: - Her space is super clean and professional, and she always plays nice ambient music so I basically fall asleep every session while she does my lashes. - The lash retention truly is incredible. - She offers other services such as bottom lashes (!!!) which really make your eyes pop! Most other lash places don't offer this, presumably because bottom lash extensions aren't isolated like top lashes are, but I think they look so good, especially if you're going for that Douyin / Manhua lash look. - She is also fluent in Chinese if you're looking for that. Serena at Clement Lash is incredible. She's the kindest person - super patient, understanding and attentive. She has an excellent eye for detail and walked me through all the options that they offer in style, materials, lengths, curl type, fan types, color options, etc. She was super accommodating with my preferences, and where I was unsure she made me feel like I could trust her suggestions and try things out. For example: in our first consultation, she suggested a slightly flatter curl to match the angle of projection of my natural lashes and eye shape, rather than go with the most common/popular curl types. She was absolutely right and she's proven repeatedly that she has excellent taste (just check out the incredible bathroom they have.. omg!). She takes notes of each client's preferences and remembers exactly what adjustments are needed to make each set better and better. Serena's amazing personality and professionalism is matched by her precision, gentleness and skill. I'm not one to fall asleep on the table and instead always try to figure out what she's doing. But Serena is SOOOOOO gentle and delicate when working that it's really hard to tell what she's doing due to very minimal touch, sound or smell and is just like being kissed by butterflies for a couple hours in a relaxing spa. There's never any pinching, or hard prodding, and even removal of adhesives are not painful and I can be quite sensitive to some adhesives and soaps.. I also love that Clement Lash also offered a complimentary glue test patch prior to the first appt. It's such a testament to how much care and consideration Serena and her team offer. Glue allergy or reactivity is a real thing and considering how important and sensitive eyes are, I was shocked that this is not a common offering. Several of my girl friends have gotten their lashes done elsewhere and not one had ever been offered glue tests. I'm very lucky that I am not allergic to the glue that Serena uses. I have heard that her techniques and materials are latest technology, less irritating and more luxurious and that has certainly proved to be the case. My lashes are so comfortable and I don't have to baby them like I hear most people have to, but I still have great retention. No itchiness and there is only irritation when I accidentally crack open my eyes during the service (oops!). In contrast, some of my girl friends have eyelid swelling, and extreme tearing, redness and irritation for DAYS after each appointment. Serena is very careful about the fine balancing act between optimal retention and minimal irritation/sensitivity and as I've learned that each person is a little different, hence her excellent notes. Finally, let's talk about the aesthetic style. Their IG post showed up randomly in my Search Feed and were a total revelation. I've never really bought into lash extensions until now because of how they lo You know, the ones that are super dense and dramatic volume, and unnaturally long. Or the ones that look like they all got chopped at the same time by tiny hedge clippers. Or the oddly dense and flatly wedge-shaped "cat eye." I get it, there's a time and place for everything but I've personally never liked those as a lifestyle choice and it wasn't until I saw these lashes from Clement Lash Bar that I realised what made those other lashes look so unnatural to me. It's not just volume and length that makes it look weird/unnatural, because Serena has clearly proved that you can have both and still look elegant and "everyday natural." There's actually a ton of attributes that contribute and I've since learned that lashes that are all running roughly parallel to each other, the same-ish length, or sitting on the same line are NOT IT. Real lashes are a bunch of different lengths and they sit at slightly different angles, and so some cross tips, while others fan apart both horizontally and vertically. Serena's work is like enhancing and amplifying nature, not covering it up like a bad wig. "My Lashes, But Better." And the best part? LOWER LASHES. You guys... total game changer!! Do you have any idea how odd/fake it looks to have heavy and uniform upper lashes and very little underneath?? The addition of beautifully feathered and blended lower lashes in various lengths on the lower lash line is the perfect finishing touch and IMHO totally necessary to complete the package. Long and luscious lower lashes makes it look like I'm really just that blessed with naturally lovely lashes and NO ONE has guessed that my lashes are extensions. I've gotten tons of comments like "oh, your eyes are so pretty!" or "I love your makeup today! Your eyelashes really pop. What mascara are you using?" And as someone who regularly dances and teaches a partnered social dance, trust me when I say people are up close and within inches of my face, ALL THE TIME. I first went last summer to try it out, and I got completely hooked!! Ever since then, I've been going every three weeks. Serena's service exceeds expectations in all three criteria: design, application process, and retention of the lashes. Design: She has so many beautiful styles you can choose from, either you want them to look super natural or all out partying mode. If you can't decide like me, you can try all the different styles she offers every other refill! (it does take a couple of refills to fully transition). I'm asian and my eyelids are hooded, which can hide the lashes. But that was not an issue with Serena! She has every type of lashes available in the market and is always able to meet your different asks and needs. Application: I never feel pinch or pull during the application! I am usually so comfortable that I instantly fall asleep if I'm not talking to her (she also has this special bed that's heated. I love it, lol. I appreciate that she constantly makes sure if anything feels uncomfortable or stings, and she will make it go away. Retention: Her lashes last so long, I honestly don't have to come back every 3 weeks, lol. For me, it just makes most sense for the bucks, and the time I spend here is like a relaxing spa day that I look forward to once a month. The lashes shed beautifully.
