Like others have said: the tri tip sandwich (which is supposed to be one of the main attractions) was a HUGE disappointment. The bread was dry and borderline stale, not very much meat, and like a teaspoon of bbq sauce which made the sandwich unbelievably dry. It was like eating powder. Cool little roadside deli, produce and souvenir shop. We were on a road trip and were really hungry so we stopped in. Unfortunately, the food is not as good as the little roadside stop looked. All of our sandwich rolls were dry and stale like they were days old. The tri tip should NOT be called a tri tip, the meat was thinly shaved and had no flavor, even with the tasteless bar b Que sauce that was more like a brown salty gravy. Nobody finished our sandwiches. Way too dry and not tasty at all. They do have chocolate covered candy and dried fruit that was okay. The sandwich was $13.00 I think. I really wanted to like this place but I feel like they're ripping us off. When we got in the car and started to eat we noticed there were no napkins in anyone's bag. I know a lot of places are doing this on purpose to save money and they probably would have given us some if we asked but it would have been nice to have had a few placed in our bag. We actually stopped to get fuel a couple miles north on 88 and got some pre made sandwiches that were actually really good and fresh. Sorry but we will not stop here again. read more

I would come back for the tri-tip sandwich - which was a solid 4/5. I got a small butter chicken pot pie, which was recommended to me by the nice worker, but I wouldn't get it again unfortunately. Not much of a variety of anything. All the fruit... Looked OLD AND DRIED UP. I wanted homegrown tomatoes, these tomatoes looked a very pale pinkish red. I drove past this place for years while heading to our camp trips and never stopped until yesterday after a day out on the lake. Finally tried the chicken and a steak pot pie, very flavorful. I went into the deli side and got the already baked smaller pie. AND I already want to back and get more. Tried a slice of apple pie as well, yum tart sweet apples unlike Apple Hills pies with soft apples breaking into apple sauce. Super cute farmers market selling fresh locally grown in-season produce as well as wines, jams and PIES!!!!!!! My heart was skipping beats just seeing all the yummy goodness. The chicken pot was delicious! Not overly creamy or salty. The crust was flaky and well just delicious!!! The tri-tip sandwich was yummy! The meat was well seasoned and tender it melts in your mouth. I'm definitely regretting not getting the banana cream pie...ugh! The people were very friendly!! Nice pot stop before heading out to the lake. A stop mom and pop shop offering winderful eats and treats. Produce are locally grown - what a great way to support local farmers. Besides produce, there are also all different kinds of nuts and in different flavors. What we came for was the tri tip sandwich and pot pies. Sandwiches are ordered by filling out a sheet of paper with choice of bread, meat, toppings and condiments - basically create you own sandwich. We enjoyed the sandwich - it was tasty and hit the spot. We also had the chicken pot pie. The pot pie reminded me of a thanksgiving dinner. The little pie was very fulfilling. Other options for pie were chili cheese and steak. Lastly, we had a huge cinnamon roll. They were very generous with the frosting. There were many sweets to select from! Clements Ridge is in rural San Joaquin County somewhat conveniently located at the intersection of Highway 12 and 88. They are located in a somewhat nondescript building with limited decoration and signage except for a lot of wildflowers along the road. Inside is the main draw with lots of options. They are famous for their pies, but I really enjoyed their jams and preserves. This stuff tastes just like grandma's home cooking and you almost expect to see a bunch of them in the kitchen! They sell frozen and fresh pies along with fruits, vegetables, and other snacks for your journey. Sandwiches are available for a quick meal too. read more

$3.50 will buy you a piece of heaven. We were determined to bring home some farm fresh produce and decided to make this our stop. So glad we did. Good selection of local produce. Seemed very fresh. Peaches and eggplant were excellent. I've had better vine-ripened tomatoes from our local farmer's market. They also carry local jams, mustards, honey and other items. We couldn't resist trying a couple of their treats. Somehow my husband resisted the pies (his favorite) but caved into my demands for a piece of the bread pudding. They carried a cherry and chocolate version. Went with the cherry despite being a chocoholic. So glad I insisted. May be the best bread pudding I have ever eaten. I can't imagine the chocolate bread pudding being any better. Cinnamon bun was good but not amazing. Just go for that little (big) piece of heaven. read more

Amazing family stop! We smelled the BBQ as we drove past and had to stop. We shared BBQ sandwiches and browsed the produce and lovely store. The owner is an amazing guy. We told him that we loved his home made mustard and he came out to the picnic benches and shared the story behind the recipe. It turns out our grandmother has nearly the exact same recipe! He gave us mustard powder and told us to enjoy some family time tonight making mustard! His dog was super friendly and loved being petted. There is a good size garden/farm on the property that makes for great photos. This is definitely a must stop along the way to wherever you are heading! read more

If you are coming back from Kirkwood via Highway 88, make sure you stop by this place on your way back to the Bay Area. I highly recommend their tri-tip sandwiches (so satisfying after a day on the slopes) and amazing berry pies! My family and I have been making thirty minute trips (from Stockton) to Clements Ridge for about nine years now just to purchase jars of fruit preserves and boxes of their fresh fruit pies. The quality and freshness of their produce can be tasted from these items. It can't get any fresher because they use produce they have grown and harvested in their farm to make their baked goods and preserves. We are such big fans of their pies that my family and I are always hesitant to purchase our pies from anywhere else. They are simply delicious! When you take a bite you are greeted with a buttery, flaky pie crust and a warm, juicy fruit filling. The boysenberry is amazing because of the contrast in texture and taste; sweet with a bit of tartness and a crunch from the seeds. My friend took me here after a day of skiing at Kirkwood. It's a farm, produce stand, bakery, deli and winery in one. I tried their chicken tamale - about average, but it may have to do with me eating it the next day after heating in microwave. Chicken pot pie - I love chicken pot pies! Their version comes with large chunks of chicken breast meat. The crust is perfect, flavors very good. I like it a lot, but it takes some taking used to with all that meat. Fresh strawberry pie - had a slice of it. They use real whipping cream (as opposed to whipping cream from a can). Strawberries appear to be fresh without added sugar so it ends up being kind of not quite sweet enough (I have a sweet tooth) and a bit too much moisture. Yes, I know it's not the goop from a bucket kind of strawberry pies we're used to. Again, I would definitely get it again. These guys know how to make a great pie crust. read more
