The folks here are super friendly and go out of their way to make sure your experience is a stellar one. This place is AMAZING! My fiance and I stopped here randomly on our way to Christmas dinner because I saw there was fresh pie, and we were blown away. From the incredibly diverse selection of homemade pastries and desserts, to the incredible chicken and meat pies, to the complimentary chai tea, everything about this place screams "hidden gem". Sue in the bakery and the two younger gentlemen running the register made what could have been a boring trip to the store, a truly special and lovely experience that left us with the biggest smiles as we walked out with arms full of pie. Stopped here after a weekend of hiking for a quick lunch. Drawn in by the many cars and the flags and signs about the pot pies, bbq, and other food. They are under new management and these people were so welcoming, friendly and just incredibly nice. We got samples of Indian butter chicken with basmati rice that were some of the best Indian food we have ever had. We had chicken pot pie which was delicious and somosas which again were crispy, perfectly seasoned filling and definitely made from scratch. Locals seemed to enjoy the sandwiches which we will try next time we are around here but wow that Indian food and the service just impeccable. They could add some extra seating but giving them 4.75 for food, service and the vibe. Really want to try the fruit pies and they had fresh fruit, wine tasting, dry fruit and other snacks for sale. They also sold the pot pies and fruit pies frozen for you to take home and bake so will probably do that as well next time we are in the area. read more

We bought a pumpkin pie and it was heavily nutmeg spiced to the point it was not edible we ended up throwing it away we bought a bag of apple chips and they were rancid and we ended up throwing them away and in addition to everything else they charged an additional fee per item if you used a credit card and nowhere was it disclosed so a $14.99 bag of apple chips was over $15 when I looked at the receipt by the time I got to my car this place is a total ripoff do not bother to stop here there are so many more better fruit stands they've changed ownership and these people that own it currently are completely ripping people off. After a day of exploring the Mokelumne River, me and my girls stopped here for some snacks before heading home. Cute little place with a bakery and deli and some local produce and honey and other things. I got a cinnamon roll, which the lady behind the counter suggest warming up and it was so delicious. I want to come back and try their sandwiches. They looked delicious. Since it's the dead of winter there wasn't much of a variety of produce, but I'm sure in spring and summer that will change. So I opted to buy some local honey instead. Service was great on top of everything, so we will make this a regular stop when driving through. read more

But my favorite are the chicken tikka masala and the lamb curry pies, which are unbelievably good and appear to be their top sellers since they seem to always be sold out (I went there twice). I mean, is this even BBQ sauce!? And where is the tri-tip!? One piece of grayish-colored, soft meat on each piece of bread. It had a bad texture. I took one bite and had to throw it away. All of the produce looked like it had been sitting out there for weeks. I was going to purchase an iced tea from the beverage cooler and it had an expiration date of June 2023, as did some of the other drinks. Don't waste your time or money!! We used to come here for many years and we lived the owners. And the staff always friendly and welcoming and great food all the time After the pandemic, they closed and it seemed the owner retired. There was still the chef and another staff member that stayed, and we were lucky we got to see them last year and the year before they made excellent chicken pot pies. Everything was always good. The steak sandwiches especially. But today was a huge disappointment and I did not see any of the regular staff. The girl that was at the front counter when you walked in did not greet Us, nor was she looking very happy to be there. We went into the bakery kitchen area, hoping to get our favorite pot pies and some ice cream for the road. Unfortunately huge disappointment they have new Staff in the kitchen and the smell of curry was overpowering They had some pot pies that were made with curry and other indian spices. And I guess they thought it was okay to do that with the chicken and steak pot pies. I'm sorry, potpies are a good wholesome country food. Item and There's no business putting curry and other Indian spices in it. It was disgusting. They had no idea how to make crust it was not flaky. And buttery, like a classic pot pie, should beat you. It was more of a curry indian crust. a picture I will attach. The inside was a thick disgusting paste again with indian spice through it and not one piece of chicken. The steak pot pie was the same with a few pieces of steak. And the gentleman who was working behind the counter was not friendly at all. He looked like he was the most miserable person. And I'm sorry, that's very unattractive. When you are dealing with customers, you need to be smiling and friendly and welcoming. Not look like you hate your job. The ice cream once we got on the road we discovered was old and sticky and stretchy. Very, very, very disappointing. I'm sorry that the owner sold this place to these people who have no idea about country food faire. And we will not feel it is very sad that this place has gone down hill like this. Stopped in 2 weeks ago and had some real good cherries and lemons. A week later I stopped in for more cherries and there were flies all over the place. On the cherries and strawberries. I did get some cherries but didn't want to take a chance of getting sick so I threw them in the garbage when I got home. The white fresh corn in the front looked like they had mold on them. The had a smoker going outside that has my name written on it on the way back. Store is nice. Clean with farm fresh fruit and produce. My family and I stopped by on the whim on our way back home from Kirkwood. This place is such a gem right off of Highway 88! Perf stop for a variety of foods, snacks, fresh local produce, pies, wine, adult beverages, Indian food, sandwiches, local bread, local honey and lavender. Sukh is an extraordinary baker as she kindly provided us samples of the baked goods she freshly made. She greeted us with a big warm welcome and is the epitome of hospitality. We tried the Butter Chicken, Basmati Rice, 3 kinds of Naan Bread: Plain, Garlic, and Cheese. When the food came out piping hot not only the aromas, home style presentation, it was genuinely served to us like we were family. First bite of the Butter Chicken was divine! This was the best in the books. So good! The market side is charming full of local goods, I loved that. Clean restrooms for costumers and warm service all around from the market to bakery. However they had a guy that was working for them 2022-23 that knew a lot about fruit tall guy I think his name was Chris this guy knew everything about the type of fruit and how it tasted I don't know why he's not working there anymore but I think he started his own business. My husband and I have been coming here for the past 3 years and it's been consistently amazing- food, service, and quaintness. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed- offering samples of their food, free cup of coffee or chai, and a bottle of water. The food has always been tasty and homey. This place is a regular stop for us up to Sutter Creek for our annual family reunion. We have been here many times before and the tri tip sandwich is usually good. Today, that was not the case. The bread was stale and not the sourdough I requested , they forgot the lettuce and olives from my order form and the tri tip was tasteless, overcooked and very tough. There was so little meat that it didn't even cover the bottom of the roll with a tiny piece of cheese. I literally had to throw the sandwich away as it was inedible. Very disappointing... read more

HOWEVER... after deciding to order the butter chicken in the bakery, we were asked by the woman behind the counter how many people it was for. We answered three and she said we would need 4 containers (ok?). She asked if we wanted naan bread and I said yes. She did not mention the meal came with it (some places it does, some places it doesn't). We ended up with enough food to feed an army and a bill to match.
