Double cheeseburger with chips and grape Nehi.
    Michael W.

I dropped in for lunch right at 1130am and found only one open table. It is pretty small, you might have trouble finding a table if they are busy. My server was very good, I ordered a double cheeseburger, chips and a grape Nehi. They have Yoo-Hoo on the menu, but they were out today. If you want tomato on your burger, it's 75 cents. I'll go without. The burger was so big, i could barely get my mouth around it. Everything was fresh and the service was quick and friendly. I would like to come back for breakfast or to try a hotdog for lunch.

Very good burgers. Seasonal soups are very good...especially the chicken dumplings. Old school atmosphere.

Yes, this is a hole in the wall. Yes, this is my kind of place. Yes, you do not want to pass this place by. The food was fantastic. Check out my cheeseburger and chips picture. This place is Cracker Barrel meets Cheers! The food is home cooked and everyone knows your name. If you live in High Point or just drive through you will not be disappointed with the Corner Grill.

Great little local spots for breakfast, burgers and dogs. It's a little country restaurant that just feels so inviting. When there you get the feeling that almost all the diners are regulars and the waitresses know them by name. This is a CASH ONLY business!!! I ordered my hot dog split & fried (or Van style) which gives is a great char and flavor. You can certainly tell that the chili is made in-house and not something out of a bag or can. The fresh chips are hot and perfectly crispy and crunchy with a light sprinkle of salt and pepper. The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast. They close at 3:00, so be sure to get there early.

This little restaurant on the corner has inexpensive food and friendly service. It's a good place for a cheeseburger for lunch or an egg and grits for breakfast

Double cheeseburger w/ bacon, onions, pickles, and mayo

Born and raised in High Point and just recently had Corner Grill for the first time ever. The owner even warned me when I was ordering that the patties were thick and that it would be smart to just try a single patty burger for my first time. I still went with the double cheeseburger with bacon, onions, pickles, and mayo anyways. So worth it. Definitely not for someone with a small appetite so go with a single patty. The meat was cooked perfectly and the toppings were fresh. I will be back to try the breakfast menu!

This is a total hole-in-the-wall - a cinder block building surrounded by unmarked gravel parking, with a sign out front announcing that the Grill will servve dinner tonight - the sign was printed, not hand drawn - deduct some style points here.Once inside you are greeted with various school pennants, some local high schools, some college - there is a big LSU fan lurking nearby. The interior is dark, a little dingy, time worn, but perfectly serviceable. They serve breakfast (including a Liver Pudding & Egg Sandwich for $2.79 - add back style points here), lunch (almost exclusively sandwiches, including a Bologna Sandwich - more style points), and apparently they serve dinner, at least when the Furniture Market is happening. They offer, at lunch, a Glenn Special - Plate which is a hamburger patty with cheese, bacon, tomato, chili, slaw, onions, mayo, mustard & ketchup on a healthy bed of lettuce with pickles on the side - this can be doubled, and jalapenos can be added. There was no indication that a family member had to be present, or that a release had to be signed if this item was ordered. Single for $4.29, double for a buck more, with jalapenos adding 75 cents. But this little place is singularly about the great, greasy Burger - with or without cheese, and for $2.89 you will be hard pressed to find a better one anywhere around. Just order it - skip the FF (ridged bundles of non-taste), the Hot Dog - weiner of suspect lineage and weak, sweet chili, and the Pimento Cheese is commercially produced. Might want to try the Homemade Chicken, Tuna, or Egg Salads, but the Burger is the reason for being here. Service is reasonably efficient, when focused - this tends to come and go - part of the charm of such places.

The food is great. The service is not very friendly toward people of color. The ambience is a good place to park and a safe atmosphere.

It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.

We've been a few times but I've been too busy eating to do pictures or a review in the past. Tonight, I had a craving for a good burger and knew Frady's would hook me up. Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated within a few minutes of arrival, and greeted with a smile. Service was kind and prompt our entire visit. I started off with a glass of whiskey, which is a nice treat since they have a comprehensive and fairly priced list of options. It's a nice way to try something (especially among the allocated options) that you might not have at home. For food, we got the Frady's ultimate cheeseburger and the All-American cheeseburger. Both were huge, served fresh, and fantastic. They really use fresh high-quality meat here and it shows. My wife also had had a side salad which was delicious and fresh, and I enjoyed the perfectly crispy tots. I've never had a disappointing meal here, and continue to recommend it to friends. They could use a larger location (a good problem to have because their popularity is well-earned) but otherwise I have nothing but praise!

The deep fried crab balls were delicious, and the fries were cooked perfectly. For the wings, we tried multiple flavors including Atomic Buffalo, Sweet Chili, Lemon Pepper, Teriyaki, and Jerk. The cook on the wings was excellent -- crispy without being dry. Some flavors stood out more than others depending on personal preference, but the Sweet Chili and Teriyaki were favorites for our table. The ranch was also really good, which definitely matters with wings. Overall, the atmosphere, service, and food made this a fun experience and we'd return again.

We arrived with only 2 other cars in the parking lot, which made us question if they were even open...as it turn out they were, but my wife, and I were the only patrons. We walked in to an unlit foyer, saw some light on in the bar area, so poked our heads in to ask if they were open. The bartender welcomed us and assured us they were, and invited us to seat ourselves. We grabbed seats at a high top, and she brought over the menus and took our drink orders. First thing I noticed was the table tops were not flat, they were wavy and made it very easy to spill your drink, so beware, and be careful where you put your drink down. The menu was pretty standard bar food, burgers, sandwiches, wings and other fried items. I decided to try their build your own burger, an 8oz patty with choice of cheese and toppings. Only side options were fries or hot chips. Food was quick to come out, but again, we were the only people there. The burger was OK, although just a frozen patty, they grilled up, the fries were good, but the portion felt a little small. Overall it was okay, perhaps they're still trying to get thing figured out. The bartender was friendly though. I didn't see a bar menu, but from what I could see they had a fully stocked bar. As we left, we poked our head around to the other side of the building to find a golf simulator, some billiards tables and a few arcade games. Lots of tvs every where though, probably a good place to catch a game.

Entrées followed in a reasonable time, no real issue there. Sammy G's has been in High Point for years and offers a wide menu with a little bit of everything. They also bring out little yeast rolls that are pretty good and they were warm when served. We started with the thin cut onion rings. My husband said "less than spectacular," and that sums it up. Some were sliced so thin you mostly tasted breading, and they were a bit greasy. I would skip these. He ordered the fish sandwich with Brussels sprouts (premium side with a small upcharge). The sandwich was okay, nothing special. The Brussels sprouts were good, nicely cooked with solid flavor. I had the Fratellis salad with greens, cranberries, feta, mozzarella, Granny Smith apples, and candied pecans, and added sirloin for an upcharge. They forgot the steak at first, but brought it out shortly after in a separate bowl. Not a big deal. The sirloin was cooked medium as requested, a little red inside and tender enough to cut easily. It had good flavor. I chose the apple cider vinaigrette, which worked well with the salad. I also ordered the chef's selection soup, which was supposed to be lobster bisque. If there was any lobster, it was microscopic. The flavor was slightly bitter and just not good. I asked for it to be taken off the bill. Service handled everything well, including the mistake with the steak and the soup. Atmosphere is casual tavern style, relaxed and easy for a weekday lunch. Must order: Fratellis salad with sirloin and apple cider vinaigrette (yummy), Brussels sprouts Heads up: Skip the thin cut onion rings and don't expect much from the bisque. Other soups, I've had here in the past have been great though.
