The livermush was more delicious than expected and the biscuit was yummy with gravy making it even better. The sunny-side up eggs were also delicious but the grits were just okay. Overall, the livermush is worth trying and the food was good in general despite that the inside looking a bit outdated.

Good portion sizes of food that tastes great. Veggie omelette is chunky. Biscuit is homemade and fresh, big warm and flaky. Service is prompt, and coffee is hot. Nice casual environment for a leisurely breakfast.

Our new leashes and we drove all the way to Hanging Rock on your recommendation.

Food was ok but our server, dubbed "Flamingo Girl" because of her amazing earrings, was OUTSTANDING. Thank you for the great service and conversation. Very best to you and your little family. I'll think of you when I see my little chunk and also when I watch fall football linebackers.

    Soooo much food.

What a find!!! Amazing food, great diner atmosphere and friendly service. Biscuits and gravy are awesome with southern hospitality.

We came here about 10:30am on a Sunday. We were looking for someplace different to check out and my wife found this place. Cagney's Kitchen is a small chain in the Winston-Salem area consisting of about 10 locations. Some are just Cagney's Kitchens, some are Cagney's Kitchen and Pizzeria and some are Cagney's Kitchen, Pizzeria and BBQ. This location is simply a Cagney's Kitchen. This restaurant is in what I believe is normally a pretty busy area near the hospital. On a Sunday morning, not so much. However, when we arrived it was apparent Cagney's was busy. The parking lot is small, tight and was very close to full but we found a spot. The entry is covered and opens to the dining area and host counter. The inside appears very cramped and dated but everything appears to be clean. We were seated promptly in a small two person booth, provided menus and offered drinks. We checked out the menu which was pretty basic but included about everything you might normally want for breakfast. My wife decided to get the farmers omelet with no cheese, a side of gravy for me and a biscuit. I chose the chicken fried steak and eggs with wheat toast. Our food arrived promptly and looked good and hit the spot. My wife really enjoyed her meal and thought the flavor of the omelet and the flakey biscuit was delicious. The chicken fried steak hit the spot for me as well. If you are looking for a diner type experience this fits the bill, nothing fancy but the food is solid and the prices are right.

My family has been BIG fans of this Cagney's location for years. They are the classic breakfast diner with consistently great food and service. My favorite is the French Toast breakfast special. It comes with eggs and your choice of meat. It is the perfect size and always cooked to order. If you like biscuits, you'll definitely want to give theirs a try. Also, the coffee is always fresh. The staff at this location is very personable, prompt and attentive. Heads up: 1.) the parking lot can get a little tight. Be sure to check the parking spaces on the side and in the back. 2.) I wouldn't advise a group larger than about 6. It can get a little tight inside.

This was my first time at the restaurant, and I showed up 45 minutes before closing on a Friday evening. Despite that, the waitress was very friendly. I felt a little rushed, because she gave the receipt well before I was done, or even half done, but her demeanor was nice. The flounder had a really mild light flavor. It was well done, perfectly cooked. Perhaps just a tad too oily? The joint kind of has an old-school diner feel to it. You know in movies where the staff know all of the people in the small town on a first name basis, and know what they want to order? That's this place. It has an appeal, for sure.

Amazing food! Stopped by after a hospital visit. The staff is friendly and they multitask like no other. The place is cozy and homey. I recommend trying it out. We had breakfast but the lunch and dinner menu sound very yummy. I'll have to return to try them.

A couple of friends and I had a late lunch at Cagney's Kitchen. The place looks nice, and the decorations take you back to a time past. The first thing I noticed was how hot it was in the restaurant. I don't know if it is always like that or not. I know it was extremely hot outside, so maybe that was the reason. The service was prompt, and the food was good. I had a vegetable plate. The only thing I didn't like was the presentation of the mashed potatoes. You could tell that they were scooped out with an ice cream scooper. Other than that, everything was fine. I will go back here, and I recommend you try it out too.

My husband was browsing Yelp looking for a great burger and the recent reviews were enough to get our attention to stop in for a late lunch. It was 2:30pm on a Thursday and the hours posted online say they are open until 5:00pm but the hours posted on the door say until 3:00 so we just made it under the wire. They kind owners also let more people come in after 3:00 and didn't seem to mind. Both our burgers were made to order and super hot and fresh. They had shredded lettuce, mayo, and tomato. They have ketchup bottles on the tables so it's easy to add to your burger if desired. The shredded lettuce and tomato were ice cold which is the best! My bacon cheddar burger came with a super generous 3 slices of perfectly crispy bacon. My husband got a side of Mac and cheese while I got a side of fries. The Mac was good and after a sprinkle of pepper was just tasty. The fries were hot from the fryer and piping hot. I loved everything about my lunch here today. Super casual but really friendly and just genuinely great food made with care and quality that seems more and more rare these days. On top of all that the price can't be beat. I think one of the only drawbacks from Murphys lunch is parking. There are a few curbside spots right in front of but if those are taken there is a public parking garage 1/2 block away. If you've never tried this place, I urge you to go.

Cafe Arthur's has a few other great sounding burgers on their menu beyond this smash burger I ordered. I've had the Burger Basket there a few years ago with the onion rings and loved it so of course the onion rings had to be the side again. Ask for the spring mix to be subbed with shedded iceberg for that crunch of lettuce too. Honestly, I'm not here to yuck anyone else's yum but SPRING MIX?? On a burger??? Who does that? Other than that one change the burger was perfect. Loved every bite. It's big though, two 4 oz patties and all the other toppings on a toasted sesame seed bun. I could only eat half of the burger and onion rings so I had a nice to go box I took home and my son finished it for his dinner. Our service was friendly and quick. We were greeted at the door and seated immediately. They had a good crowd on a Friday night around 6:30pm. The parking at Cafe Arthur's can be a bit challenging. I opted for the Hot Honey Chicken with Pimento Benedict and wow! I was nervous the pimento cheese would be overpowering, but it wasn't at all! This is a solid restaurant with much to offer in the brunch/breakfast area - an area that has become popular and chic, and it almost always means much will be expensive, usual very expensive considering the less than costly menu ingredients that drive food choices here, and other such brunch spots. Brunch is seen as more than just a meal for some folks who are all into what is trendy, and restaurant are aware of this and prices are raised due to the "experience" element! I have tried several items here including their version of Huevos Rancheros (not a fan of how they make it, pulled pork is a party foul), the Eggs Benedict (decent but over priced for sure, $17 with bacon added), and several Omelette choices, can reach $15. This is obviously a popular spot in downtown Winston, but I find it generally overpriced, loud, and the service is inconsistent. I like a good adventure, but somethings simply are not worth the cost! Note that the prices for individual items are written, very lightly with no $ sign to the right of the item. This is done intentionally to make the customer pay less attention to what they spending. Many restaurants are using some form of this approach!
