I had a pixel 5a that died. Clever tech diagnosed it to be memory chip failure and ultimately my data was not salvageable. None the less they went to great technical lengths to trouble shoot and charged me only the minimal service fee at the end despite having ordered expensive replacement parts in their attempts. It was a kind gesture and did in fact brighten my day in light of the disappointment of my phone being unfixable. read more

It's really unfortunate that I have to write a negative review about this place. There were very high expectations coming into here because of their 5-star rating. My charging port on my iPhone X wasn't charging properly so I came in yesterday (Friday 5/31) to get it replaced. I gave them a call around 5ish to let them know I was coming in and they said it could be done in 45 min. Dropped off the phone at 6 and waited around the area for about an hour. Came back to check up at 6:50 and Jesus told me he was still working on it. They got busy which is understandable. I was there for an additional 30 min or so just chatting with him while he worked on the phone, but then he told me it would be another hour wait... I wasn't frustrated but I wasn't sure why it would take an additional hour. I saw on the table mat where he did the repairing that there were only some small screws left. All the major parts were intact (I watched him screw everything in for the last 30 min or so). So.. I come back one hour later, he handed me my phone where I began to examine everything. My phone was in a WORSE condition than it came in. In short: Jesus had ripped some sensory wire that connects to my camera AND antenna. I was no longer able to make calls or text, (only on wifi) because my phone couldn't connect to any service AND my camera is non-functional. But hey, at least my phone can charge again. Jesus refunded me immediately and said he would try to find that specific wire so he could replace it for me today (Saturday 6/01). I've been messaging their work number but no response so i'll post this review as a warning for you all. Jesus was honestly really nice but my phone is useless now. Quite disappointed but this is the risk you take when you go to an unauthorized Apple service center. read more

The folks at CleverTech are INCREDIBLE. First, they swapped the 160G hard drive in my iPod Classic for 512G of mSATA flash memory. That made switching songs at least 2x faster, and put my entire library (with room to spare,) in my car. Fabulous! Just recently they diagnosed a 2012 Mac Mini that wasn't powering up, and fixed it in a jif -- for a reasonable price. Hey, it's still a quad-core i7 and a great little machine. ... and if I ever need an iPhone repair, guess where that's happening! read more

I found that the charge wouldn't hold. I brought it back and explained to them the situation. They listened and addressed my concern by re-doing the work and making it right by replacing it with a part that was manufactured much more recently. The customer service is textbook excellent. In this Bay Area, only pretty much Clever Tech and BKB offer custom soldering. I had a custom solder project and wanted to go with Clever Tech for their cool vibes. But after taking an extensive look, they politely declined due to complexity beyond their confidence. It was quite unfortunate but their excellent customer service more than made up for it. Plus, they have an exhibit of vintage Apple Mac devices (wayyy back to when Apple first started) which caused my geeky side to fail to contain the excitement. Dropped my iPad and the screen wouldn't come on although it was working on the inside. After multiple attempts to get it to work, I gave up and brought it into Clever Tech. I wish I could give these guys 10 stars. Whenever I've had a computer problem, I come here and they exceed my expectations. At the beginning of the pandemic back in March 2020, our company just went remote and because that's how life works, my MacBook stopped charging. I searched here and went to the first shop that came up. I had researched the problem, so I had a good idea what the problem was. When I brought the computer to the other shop, the person didn't know how this model was configured and told me the piece I needed was soldered onto the motherboard. I knew this not to be the case. I brought it here because it was an Apple specialist shop. They fixed my computer quickly for a reasonable price. Fast forward to this year (2021), my computer had a hinge problem. It was still functional, but I had read that this could lead to big problems down the road. So, even though I received other quotes, I wanted to give these the right of first refusal (first shot, whatever). I brought it in, they told me I could have it late the next afternoon, but possibly not until the following morning. I told them I had a remote meeting and if at all, could they try for the afternoon. I was just hoping it would be by the next afternoon, and two hours before I was expecting or even hoping to get a call, the technician called and told me it was ready. Also, while I was there this time, I learned two things that might be helpful to other potential customers: 1. They do pickups 2. They accept and will ship to other areas, including to other states Finally, the technicians are very friendly. Even though I'm an introvert, I also end up chatting with these guys when I drop off or pick up my computer. read more

This was my second time coming here after I've moved away from the San Jose area and these guys are the real MVPs. No frills and super helpful if you actually want to learn about your product. Eduardo (Edwardo?) helped me on this Saturday morning and while also managing several other customers that came in after me (he was the only guy in the store) and still got a lot done very quickly. The first time I came for a screen repair in Feb 2020 I also had an amazing help from Gonzalo (?) and he was the exact same and extremely helpful as well. Please be nice to these guys bc they will help you out and if they can't, they can let you know what your best options are without even charging you (if you walk in or request a quote). Their turn around times are very reasonable, so don't rush these guys bc they're probably doing it much faster than your average place that might not be as nice to you. Even though I do not live in the area anymore, I will probably still always make the drive out here if I ever have any phone/computer needs because these guys are trustworthy! Don't even waste your time looking for other places. This should be your Go-To place for any Apple issues. I have a MacBook air mid 2012, which one fine day stopped turning on. I couldn't boot the system. As any other guy/gal, I called Apple and they said they don't have an appointment available in one of their retail stores in next 2-3 days, but If I like I can go to one of their 3rd party (Apple approved) repair shops. They assured me, the experience is as good as going to apple retail store. So I made an appointment here: https://computercare.net (Based on their recommendation) It was a small shop in Santa Clara, they asked me to fill a form, drop my computer and they said they ll get back to me with an estimate in 24 hrs. I was told nothing about the problem at that point. After one day, I get an e-mail saying the logic board is dead and needs to be replaced. They gave me an estimate of $611 !! I was a bit surprised by the estimate, so I decided to get a second opinion. I looked into yelp, and decided to drive down to Clever Tech based on the reviews. N I am just so glad I took the trip there. I met Gonzalo Martinez. He took my laptop, and opened it right in front of me !! Talk about transparency and getting customer involved in every step of the process. He showed me inside of my laptop, and explained me what could have possibly gone wrong. I could not be more impressed by his knowledge and knowhow about apple laptops. He understood the entire architecture and knew exactly what he was doing. Not only that, he was able to explain me what was wrong, in a layman friendly language. I asked about the estimate. He gave me a clear range $325 - $425 (Worst case scenario) and asked me if I would like to drop the laptop. Since my battery was getting old, I even decided to replace my battery. They charged me $99 bucks for the battery (Note: Apple charges $129 for the same). My total was $434 including a new battery :) They returned my laptop in 2 days, and they were even open Saturday and Sunday. I have decided to use my laptop for a week, before posting my review. I'm feeling a little sheepish here as I sort of wasted Ricardo's time today, but anyway, here's my experience. My MacBook Pro fell on a hardwood floor, and despite me having dropped this thing many, many times, this time felt different. It was more of a crack than a clatter, and I instantly suspected something might actually be wrong. Upon opening my computer, I was met with an on, but completely blank screen. Uh oh. I tried closing and re-opening the computer, no luck. Upon restarting, the screen wouldn't even turn on. Uh oh part 2. I began idly wondering how much Retina displays are to fix. Anyway, as I depend on greatly on my MacBook for YouTube, Yelp, and and other ways to waste time, I had to get this fixed, and fast. I found CleverTech on Yelp (on my iPhone, yes I'm an Apple fanboy) and asked for an estimate and when we could schedule a repair. A later phone call confirmed Monday (this was on a Sunday) as the earliest repair time, with a quote for $70 if a cable was disconnected, $130 if the cable was broken, and $380 if the screen needed to be replaced. Not cheap but nothing about Apple is, right? So in the afternoon, their very nice employee Ricardo comes to meet me and wants to quickly look over the issue. I open the computer to show him, and surprisingly the screen was on... and functioning perfectly. D'oh. I felt foolish, but Ricardo assured me it was no problem and still went over a few diagnostic tests to make sure the screen was actually ok. Everything looked good, so he left. So I got a screen diagnostic look over for free, basically. Anyway, despite them not actually needing to replace anything, I was very appreciative of the look-over that Ricardo gave me, and the person I spoke to originally on the phone was very helpful as well. Also, I checked two other repair services out, and CleverTech was by far the cheapest option. Yea!Mac quoted me $499.95 to replace the screen, but mentioned that they would want to look it over first. This is pricey but fair. Mobile Mac Techs Apple Mac Repair quoted me $475 if I paid in cash, or $495 if I paid by credit card, and told me I would need "to swap your entire top assembly out". This seems a little dishonest to me, how do you know it isn't just a cable that's loose? Maybe Alexander Royal (the man who messaged me) was in a rush or something, but jumping straight to a $500 repair before investigating the possibility of a much cheaper issue sounds shady to me. Anyway, given that CleverTech is cheaper than the rivals and their service is great, I will definitely go with them should any other issues befall my computer. Although of course, best case scenario is I never call again. But you never know! read more

Met with Gonzalo on-site and he was super friendly with hearing out my issue with a GBA Game cartridge where is had some damaged traces. Took a look and agreed with my assessment and confident they can apply a jumper wire to repair the trace. Gave me reasonable SLAs regarding how long it will take. What took me by surprise initially was the cost was fairy high over the phone, but upon review, they gave me a lowered rate. Received an update from Jesus regarding the repair and met SLA times regarding the repair. Explained what they did and added some extra work to renew the solder joints. Confirmed game is operational. Definitely will reach out again for soldering repairs outside what I can do. read more

Was referred to these folks by a good friend of mine. Highly do NOT recommend. They are an independent repair shop, but NOT Apple Authorized. Please see the Apple website and you will find they are just an independent repair shop and not a true Apple Authorized Service Provider. They are all smoke and mirrors. All show. Let me cut to the skinny. I am a top tier technician, but did not want to attempt a repair on a newer style MacBook Pro, so I brought the machine to them instead. I know my limits, which is important if you are a good technician, you have to know when to pass it along to someone smarter to you. I thought these guys were, and boy was I wrong. I brought it in last month January 2022 because the fans would not spin. I knew it had something to do on the motherboard and did not want to try a repair myself. ANyway, cutting to the skinny, they hit me for $50 diagnostic fee, but never diagnosed anything. They could not figure out the problem and I am back in the same boat I was before, minus the $50 out of my wallet and the gas to get to their shop. I just had a real Apple Authorized Shop open up the laptop again to get it fixed right and all the screws were either loose or missing. Total shame, just be warned guys, don't end up like me. read more

The Clevertech office is on the 2nd floor of the building, and I went inside to check it out to make sure it was a legit Apple repair facility. I was greeted by Gonzalo who struck me as a genuinely nice and happy go lucky guy who truly wants to help his customers. He asked what I needed help with and I told him that I wanted to replace the Fusion drive in my 2019 27" iMac with an SSD. We chatted for a few minutes and I could tell he was very experienced with these upgrades, so I felt very comfortable having them upgrade my iMac. Gonzalo offered to help carry my iMac in, and so he actually went downstairs and picked up the iMac out of my car and carried it upstairs. He said they could probably finish it in 1 day, but I didn't need it so quickly and told him I'd pick it up in 2 days. Great prices, I provided my own SSD and their labor rates are very reasonable. I am glad that I've been able to find a knowledgable and trustworthy place to bring my Apple products in for service. Highly recommend!! read more
