My laptop keyboard stopped working, and although I usually service it myself (replaced both the battery and the fan on two different occasions), I was short on time so I took it to ClickAway on E. McGlincy Ln, in Campbell based on their good reviews. The salesperson immediately tried to sell me a service to backup my data, which I declined since I store everything on the cloud. He then questioned how I do this, which made me feel doubtful of their expertiese. He also tried to sell me an annual checkup service, which I knew I did not need. Before I left, he assured me that he would call before ordering parts. He even suggested that should I have to wait for parts, I could pick up my laptop and use it in the meantime. Two days later, I called back and was told they were waiting for parts. Not only did I need a new keyboard but the console that holds the keyboard needed to be purchased along with the keyboard. This was concerning since we agreed they would call before ordering anything. Plus having to replace the console didn't sound right. I spoke to the manager who quoted me $399 and said that I would have to pay at least $99 in labor since my laptop was already taken apart. This was not what I had expected and made me suspicious. I've taken my laptop apart before. It's pretty easy. I agreed to pay the $99 (so much for free diagnostics) but wanted a second opinion. The manager wasn't happy and assured me that I wouldn't find a better price anywhere else. A little later, he called back and dropped the price to $199, including putting my laptop back together. HERES THE KICKER: When I went to pick up my laptop, I noticed that the keyboard and console had not been replaced. When I asked the tech if anything had been swapped out, he told me that the only problem was that the connection to the keyboard had come loose. I had essentially paid $200 for ClickAway to plug it back in. I felt cheated. I won't be going back to ClickAway. Consumer beware. read more

Very impressed actually. I came to ClickAway in a panic after I, uh, dropped and broke my wife's MacBook screen. Billy assured me that I was in good hands and walked me through the process. Long story short, I received a call back a day and a half later around pricing, and then an additional 2-3 business days until the laptop was ready. Honestly very disappointed in the customer service. Brought a flash drive here for a second opinion on repair options. I was told during the initial consultation that I'd have a response on the status of my external hard drive within 48 hours or so. An entire week goes by and no update. After I message the business for an update, get a phone call saying it will take another few days because they have been tied up with other clients, and the issue may be more serious -- the rep then asked me if I would be interested in spending at least $100 on a deeper investigation. I wonder now if I had agreed if that would have sped things up! We are now approaching week two for the "free diagnostic" and no clear indication on what is wrong with my drive. Disappointed that I was told misleading information. I previously took my drive to another shop in S.F. and they had the diagnostic done within a few days, as they promised. Had I known this diagnostic would take so long I would have taken my business elsewhere. read more

ClickAway in Campbell, CA performed a FREE diagnosis for me of the upgrade-ability of my old Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" -- from it's Samsung imposed limit (by design) from Android 7 to a current version of Android. This Tab S2 has been great -- with a very high-quality high-res display -- but I've also been hoping it could be "rooted" ("jail-broken") and upgraded to a higher version of Android. But, after checking it out, ClickAway advised that it's not possible, or -- if possible -- would be risky. So I'm still using my Tab S2 for the time being, while I research the best new tablet for my needs -- probably a "modestly priced" Galaxy Tab A8. Don W. read more

I am giving only two stars, even though the repair, which included data recovery, was very well done, because upon calling, Eddie, the store manager, asked me if I wanted the computer delivered to my office, I said yes and Pedro, the technician, came in, plugged the computer in and charged me $299.00 I asked him to call Eddie, his manager, who was nowhere to be found. He told me that Eddie would call me today and that never happened. They were not able to repair my old printer, but helped me to find one that had the same features and then offered to bring it to my home and install the new one. They just cleaned and serviced my Lenovo laptop (removed spyware, etc.) and spent extra time showing me how to resize my icons (which were suddenly coming up large) as well as syncing my calendar with my phone. Love hate relationship with this click away location. Apple decided that warranty voided because it was a charging port issue but really not. Had been to different place and they said motherboard issue and no other place was able to fix. Found this place thru yelp and they said they could do it. At first they communicated well and kept me informed of updates. But later on cannot get hold of the person fixing and would require multiple calls to get through. Towards the end, Eddie manager gave me updates but still have to call and follow up. At the end, they were able to fix the port but only after a month and a half. When I got the iPad back noticed an issue with the screen and went back to have it fixed. While they claimed that they did not touch the screen but they replaced it without charging me so I believe that they deserve another star for that. If needing to repair iPad without warranty, this might be the place for you. Just need to be patient and follow up to get updates read more

I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE GO HERE. I DEFINITELY WILL NOT GO BACK! Dropped my laptop off for a repair quote for a crack in the lower right corner of my screen. Was quoted at $450. When I decided to go through with the repair, Edward tried to argue with me that the price was actually $550. After much back and forth, I agreed to pay the $450 that I was quoted. When I picked up my laptop, I got home and noticed there electrical tape on the lower left corner of the screen. When I removed the tape, low and behold there was a crack underneath! It's almost like he just flipped my screen over and covered the crack with tape, hoping I was too stupid to notice. When I made a complaint to BBB, the store's response was that they don't usually "not notice" a crack in a replaced screen. Not noticing a crack, and deliberately covering it up are not the same. read more

Early in the coronavirus pandemic, I noticed that my MacBook wasn't charging when it was plugged in. One day, I was able to jiggle the wire and get it to charge, but the next day, it wouldn't charge at all. No green light, no amber light, no lightning bolt icon on my screen. Without a working computer, I wouldn't be able to work. Ouch! So, I did a search here and this was one that came up. I had brought a computer by there many years ago, so I called and made an appointment for a contactless drop-off. The next Monday, when I called to see whether the technician had isolated the problem and what it would cost, I was told the technician was talking with other customers. After I'd called a few more times, the technician finally called me back asking me whether I'd like to have my data recovered to be used on a new computer. What? The computer was working when I brought it in. "I've plugged it in several outlets and nothing works," the technician said. "It's not the port?" I asked. "No, on these machines, everything's directly soldered on," he said. At that, I knew that he hadn't even opened up the case. I had seen the port and its separate board on eBay. Later that day, I picked up the computer, brought it to a shop specializing in Mac repairs. That other shop diagnosed the problem as the AC adapter shorted the computer's system management controller, which manages power and other functions. The other shop reset the SMC and sold me a new adapter, all for less than $90. read more

My kids spilled water on the MacBook Pro and we rushed it to Apple's Genius Bar. We were asked to keep the laptop in a rice bag and return after a week, and so we did. Lucky for the kids, the laptop was working fine, except the battery wasn't charging. The Apple expert told us to find a repair shop to replace the battery because they don't do that in the Apple Store. And so I started searching... wow! There is so much variance in the price for replacing a battery! Since I was totally new to this, I called a few shops and went to one but I didn't like they had to keep the laptop for at least 2 days to replace the battery. Finally, and thanks to Bill from Whole Systems in Los Gatos, who referred me to ClickAway, I found the best price and the best turnaround time for this -- at ClickAway. Jesse checked in the laptop and was very kind and helpful. By this time since I'd been researching MacBook battery replacement for a while now, I had bought my own battery online that I took with me to the shop. Jesse was totally OK with using the battery I had bought beforehand and gave me a great price for replacing the old battery. He took under two hours and we had our laptop up and running on battery power again! He also disposed of the old battery for me, which is super nice of him. I had water spill all over my laptop with wasn't very hopeful of recovering it, given that it had stopped detecting the HDD initially and then stopped booting altogether. Eric from ClickWay Sunnyvale, did a terrific job and kept me fully informed about all the potential options, I had. They were flexible enough to help me out select the right HDD to replace the damaged one with, and also helped me with sanity checking the boot condition at the time of retrieval. Overall a very positive experience and would definitely recommend.
