Got great computer service at the Los Altos store. However, they are slow and the communication is infrequent.

How fast do you normally repair computers?

HI there! We do repair computers along with many other devices. Repairs all depend on what the problem is; sometimes about 24 hours to a few days if parts need to be ordered and installed. It also depends on the computer itself - older slower models…

Hi! Just curious if you are guys hiring? I have experience with electronics repairs, used to fix phones and desktop computers. Thank you!

I took my laptop in after finding it dead on a Thursday morning. I use it as my main computer with…read morea powered hub and extended monitor. I was asked if I wanted expedited service and of course I said "yes" to the charge of $99 since I needed it turned around fast. On Friday I called to find out the status and was told that it needed to be "opened" and if I approved (another charge) with no commitment as to when it would be fixed. Saturday was the tech's day off and they are not open on Sunday so no apparent rush to fix it. On Monday I was asked if I needed the data. I had originally said "no" because I had my data backed up on Carbonite. I asked about the Apps that I had and the tech said they would be wiped as well so I decided to save the data and apps. This was a $199 charge to "determine if the data was salvageable" by testing the SSD. I was then called and told that yes, the SSD was salvageable and there would be a $599 charge to recover it. Each step was a dagger because I needed my computer and the data/apps so I approved the charges. I finally got my computer back on Monday afternoon with a $1,600 bill feeling like I should have just bought a new computer and put up with reinstalling my apps. I got the computer home, hooked into my system and it worked fine. The next morning it was dead again. I hooked it up to a spare charger (bypassing the powered hub) and the computer was back to life. The entire problem was my hub charger! At no time was I advised that a charger might have been the problem and was instead overcharged for work that wasn't needed (probably not even opened to get to the SSD that I was bill around $800 for testing and recovery.) THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF! I'm thinking of reporting them to the BBB. Update on 08/14/26: Eddy from ClickAway reached out to explain the services that were performed on my laptop. After his explanation I am now better informed of the work and charges and better appreciate what was needed to get it restored to working order. I updated my original rating based on an agreement to reduce the price of data restoration. I am looking forward to a continued relationship with ClickAway.

Terrible experience with GeekSquad and with internal policy within BestBuy…read more GeekSquad: absolutely no supportive engagement or willingness to propose a conversation if you are walking in. Why offer walk ins (vs appointments) if you are not willing to help folks? In front of me was a senior gentleman who was struggling to even stand - they neither offered him a seat nor wanted to help his needs. Told him to come back 6 hours later and set an appointment. Check your video - he was in line longer than I was and I stood in line for 35 minutes. 8/19 ~11:00am Tomoki is the only guiding light for the day, so not ALL GeekSquad associates exhibit this behavior I am a member and ordered a I k cartridge via BestBuy. I was not told the order would be processed by a third party and that return cycles would be so complicated. That being said, they ordered the WRONG color and could not even exchange for the correct one (the one brought in was 17 days since delivery - policy is not beyond 15 days). Additionally, since the cartridge was purchased through a third party, I was told nothing could be done. How is an established company unable to make a simple exchange or make this situation right? This is not a service forward location (for the most part - the hostess did her best to help me). This is a location that only focuses on what goes out. Not the values driven, service forward company that is shared publically. The GeekSquad exists to specifically support customers. Why exist if you don't really want to help. Very disappointed.

They gave me back my computer with diagnostics fee being the only cost I paid (39 bucks at the time!) and she's back in working order! Really appreciated their ability to work around my schedule too. They had their own private parking lot in the back and prices were basically the same as online my son said, unless you were buying us somewhat used item from a private vendor. So yes, I will come here again to tag along with my son since I do not know how to make my own computer, but he does. He loves this place!!
